Brian Cole, Jr. worked for a bail bonds company run by his father that worked to free illegal immigrants from ICE facilities and sued the Trump administration’s Department of Homeland Security.

Weeks before 30-year-old Cole Jr. allegedly planted pipe bombs at the headquarters of the Democrat and Republican parties on January 5, 2021, a court ruled against the company in its lawsuit attacking the Trump administration on immigration issues, The Daily Wire has learned. An FBI affidavit in the case notes that the suspect works for a bail bond company and lives with his mother.

Later in 2021, the company held a press conference bemoaning anti-black racism with a left-wing attorney. Cole Sr. and Benjamin Crump, who represented the family of Trayvon Martin, attempted to sic the Biden Department of Justice on a local Tennessee prosecutor who had raised questions about the bail bond company.

“A high-profile civil rights attorney is calling for a federal investigation into a Rutherford County prosecutor accused of discrimination,” Nashville news outlet WPLN reported on November 16, 2021.

Cole Sr., who is black, claimed racial persecution by Rutherford County Assistant District Attorney John Zimmerman, video shows. Zimmerman had raised concerns about the bail bond company’s ethics, noting that it had been suspended from operating in a nearby district.

Standing alongside Crump, he said to the media: “He’s defamed me, he’s called my insurance company. … We hope the Department of Justice can come in and do a brief investigation because we’ve seen a lot of questionable acts that Mr. Zimmerman has demonstrated towards minority-owned companies.”

Crump said, “It is appalling and we want these allegations to be investigated to the highest level of government … They called him a punk and a thug, and why? What is it about him? A lot of people believe they know the answer.”

In April 2025, a Tennessee appeals court found that sanctions against the company were called for due to repeated misconduct. The elder Cole lied about having never filed for bankruptcy or having other financial problems, when he in fact had filed for bankruptcy twice and had tax liens against him, a Tennessee court of appeals affirmed.

Cole Jr. and his father worked as bail bondsmen under various company names, including Free U Bonds, initially in Fairfax County, Virginia. Public records suggest that the father moved to Knoxville, Tennessee, around 2017.

One of those corporate names was StateWide Bonding, Inc., an immigration-bond company that helps illegal immigrants avoid jail.

“An Immigration Bond will secure the release of an undocumented alien from an immigration facility with the guarantee the conditions of the Immigration Bond requirements are met,” its webpage says.

Brian Cole is listed as StateWide Bonding’s owner in a dispute over bonds for illegal immigrants in the state of Colorado.

StateWide sued the Trump administration’s Department of Homeland Security over its policies relating to illegal immigrants. Weeks before Cole allegedly planted the pipe bombs, on November 10, 2020, the U.S. Court of Appeals in D.C. sided with the administration on the case, ruling that the lower court had properly thrown out all of StateWide’s claims.

The river is also notable because its water provides the American Southwest with large reservoirs, notably Lakes Mead and Powell.

Millions of people in this desert region rely on the Colorado River for water, and it is also critical for local agriculture.

 

Increasing demands for the Colorado River’s water, combined with changing weather patterns in the region, have led to noticeably lower water levels in its major reservoirs.

These declines are easy to see as “bathtub rings” on the shorelines of Lakes Mead and Powell.

The marks of high water levels in the lake, compared to where the current reservoir levels stand, indicate that every drop of this vital resource is being used.

 

Using Satellite Observations to Monitor Aquifers

Flowing underneath the desert surface are important aquifers that also provide water for the people, industry, and agriculture of the region.

The Colorado River and its reservoirs are not sufficient to meet the regional demand for water, so groundwater has been extracted from the aquifers, causing the aquifers to lose water at an increasing rate during the past 20 years.

Unlike the reservoirs, this loss is not easily perceptible on the surface.

 

However, the loss in volume can be detected by satellites in space.

By measuring the change in the force of gravity in the region caused by the decreased amount of water in the reservoirs and aquifers, researchers can estimate the volume of water removed.

 

In a recent study published in Geophysical Research Letters (Abdelmohsen et al. 2025), a research team used gravity data from NASA’s Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment (GRACE) and GRACE Follow-On (GRACE-FO) to determine how much water has been withdrawn from Colorado River Basin aquifers since 2002.

This study also used data from a second NASA source, the North American Land Data Assimilation System (NLDAS), to confirm that the estimates made with GRACE gravity data were accurate.

 

The results indicate that the reservoirs and the aquifers have lost a combined 52 cubic kilometers of water since 2002.

The reduction of groundwater was 65% of that total, about 34 cubic kilometers. Such a loss is not sustainable, and the risk of running out of freshwater is potentially serious.

 

Gravity Data from GRACE and GRACE-FO

The GRACE missions are remarkable, both for the data they provide and the technology that is employed to acquire the data.

The concept is simple: two trapezoid-shaped satellites orbit in tandem, with about 220 kilometers between them.

Radio (microwave) signals determine the precise distance between the two satellites, with Global Positioning System (GPS) antennas indicating their orbital positions.

As Earth’s gravitational field varies under the satellites as they orbit, the distance between the two satellites will vary as they are either pulled away from each other or pushed slightly toward each other.

By taking repeated measurements over numerous orbits, researchers can precisely derive Earth's gravity field from the small variations in the distance between the satellites.

 

There are two main reasons to measure Earth’s gravity field. One, a precise determination of the gravity field generates baseline data that can be used to measure the variation in the height of the surface of Earth.

For example, such measurements can be used to determine how much a large earthquake has changed the height of Earth’s land surface, including the official altitude of mountain peaks.

 

Two, measuring the Earth’s gravity field allows researchers to measure variations of Earth's gravity, which is the measurement used to assess the Colorado River Basin Aquifers.

As the amount of water in a given region varies, Earth’s gravity in that region will change as the mass of water increases or decreases.

This variation indicates changes in water storage on the surface of Earth, and underneath the surface as well. That’s where the “climate” part of the GRACE mission name comes from.

 

The figure below (from Humphrey, Rodell, and Eicker 2023) shows how this works.

 

The May 2025 map of gravity anomalies has some notable features.

The positive anomalies in the Congo and Amazon rainforest regions are due to the iconic “rainy season,” and this may also account for the positive anomaly in the Sahel region south of the Sahara Desert.

In May 2025, rainfall was higher than normal in the Congo River basin, but approximately normal in the Sahel and the Amazon basin.

 

This map also clearly shows the negative gravity anomaly in the Colorado River watershed in the U.S. desert Southwest.

This persistent anomaly primarily results from the continued extraction of groundwater from the aquifers in this region, because slightly above average monthly rainfall amounts do not appreciably affect it.

 

Hydrologic Data from NLDAS

To check the accuracy of the measurements of water loss from the aquifers based on GRACE gravity data, the researchers utilized an independent data source, the North American Land Data Assimilation System (NLDAS).

NLDAS is a system of several land surface models (LSMs), which allow researchers to determine the values of hydrologic variables such as runoff, soil moisture, streamflow, and evaporation.

LSMs use the input data to calculate the output variables. NLDAS models have different assumptions and different equations to calculate the variables, so the model results can be compared and assessed.

 

For the Colorado River watershed study, researchers used NLDAS data to check the results calculated with GRACE gravity data.

According to Abdelmohsen et al. in their paper, “To assess the accuracy of GRACE data estimates in both the Upper Colorado River Basin and Lower Colorado River Basin, we conducted an independent water mass balance analysis using hydrological fluxes from three models (NOAH, VIC, and Mosaic) from NLDAS, including precipitation, evapotranspiration, and total runoff."

 

They also used the NLDAS data to calculate groundwater storage. The GRACE data indicated Total Water Storage, the combined amount of water in rivers, lakes, reservoirs, aquifers, soil moisture, and snowpack.

Using the GRACE data in coordination with the NLDAS data thus provided a way to check the accuracy of the results, particularly the important estimate of how much water has been lost from the aquifers.

The results of this research are significant for resource managers in the region to consider, particularly for agricultural interests and communities, including Native American tribal lands.

Hubble Spots a Storm of New Stars

This NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope image features a stormy and highly active spiral galaxy named NGC 1792.

Located over 50 million light-years from Earth in the constellation Columba (the Dove), the bright glow of the galaxy’s center is offset by the flocculent and sparkling spiral arms swirling around it.

 

NGC 1792 is just as fascinating to astronomers as its chaotic look might imply. Classified as a starburst galaxy, it is a powerhouse of star formation, with spiral arms rich in star-forming regions.

In fact, it is surprisingly luminous for its mass. The galaxy is close to a larger neighbor, NGC 1808, and astronomers think the strong gravitational interaction between the two stirred up the reserves of gas in this galaxy.

The result is a torrent of star formation, concentrated on the side closest to its neighbor, where gravity has a stronger effect.

NGC 1792 is a perfect target for astronomers seeking to understand the complex interactions between gas, star clusters, and supernovae in galaxies.

 

Hubble studied this galaxy before. This new image includes additional data collected throughout 2025, providing a deeper view of the tumultuous activity taking place in the galaxy.

Blossoming red lights in the galaxy’s arms mark Hydrogen-alpha (H-alpha) emission from dense clouds of hydrogen molecules. The newly forming stars within these clouds shine powerfully with ultraviolet radiation.

This intense radiation ionizes the hydrogen gas, stripping away electrons which causes the gas to emit H-alpha light. H-alpha is a very particular red wavelength of light and a tell-tale sign of new stars.

US puts normalizing relations with Russia among ‘core interests’

The new National Security Strategy calls for a swift end to the Ukraine conflict and preventing further escalation in Europe

 

The US has placed the restoration of normal ties with Russia and a rapid end to the Ukraine conflict at the center of its newly released National Security Strategy,presenting both aims as among America’s core interests.

 

The 33-page report outlining President Donald Trump’s foreign-policy vision was released by the White House on Friday.

 

”It is a core interest of the United States to negotiate an expeditious cessation of hostilities in Ukraine,” the paper states, “in order to stabilize European economies, prevent unintended escalation or expansion of the war, and reestablish strategic stability with Russia.”

 

It notes that the Ukraine conflict has left “European relations with Russia… deeply attenuated,” destabilizing the region.

 

The report criticizes European leaders for “unrealistic expectations” regarding the outcome of the conflict, arguing that “a large European majority wants peace, yet that desire is not translated into policy.”

 

America, it says, is ready for “significant diplomatic engagement” to “help Europe correct its current trajectory,” reestablish stability,and “mitigate the risk of conflict between Russia and European states.”

 

In contrast with the US national strategy during Trump’s first term, which emphasized competition with Russia and China, the new strategy shifts the focus to the Western Hemisphere and to protecting the homeland, the borders, and regional interests.It calls for resources to be redirected from distant theaters to challenges closer to home and urges NATO and European states to shoulder primary responsibility for their own defense.(KEK Europe relies on the U.S. for everything, they started this fight, now they can with by themselves.)

Tropical cyclones almost never form over the Strait of Malacca.

The narrow waterway separating Peninsular Malaysia from the Indonesian island of Sumatra sits so close to the equator that the Coriolis effect is usually too weak to allow storms to rotate enough to organize into cyclones.

But on November 25, 2025, meteorologists watched as a tropical depression intensified into Cyclone Senyar—just the second documented case of a tropical cyclone forming in the strait.

 

Hemmed in by land on both sides, Senyar made landfall in Sumatra later that day as it made a U-turn and headed east toward Malaysia.

As the slow-moving storm passed over Sumatra’s mountainous terrain, it dropped nearly 400 millimeters (16 inches) of rain in many areas, according to satellite-based estimates from NASA’s Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) mission.

(Due to the averaging of the satellite data, local rainfall amounts may differ when measured from the ground.)

 

The torrent caused extensive flash floods and landslides in Sumatra’s rugged terrain.

Streams and rivers rapidly overflowed with sediment-laden, debris-filled waters that swept through villages, cities, and towns.

News reports suggest that the damage was worsened by an earthquake that struck on November 27 and the abundance of loose piles of timber in the region that became destructive battering rams in high water.

As of December 4, Indonesian authorities reported several hundred deaths and more than 700,000 displaced people.

Muddy sediment-filled water appears to have swamped much of Lhoksukon, a town of 40,000 people, and several surrounding villages.

 

Other tropical cyclones and monsoon rains hitting Sri Lanka, Thailand, Malaysia, and Vietnam at roughly the same time have also caused extensive destruction in the broader region.

According to one estimate from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, flooding has affected more than 10.8 million people in the region and displaced more than 1.2 million.

A Brazilian Harvard Law School professor who pleaded guilty last month to illegally firing an air rifle outside a Boston-area synagogue — and told police he was “hunting rats” — has agreed to leave the US following his arrest by Immigration and Customs Enforcement this week.

 

Carlos Portugal Gouvea, 43, copped Nov. 13 to a single charge of illegal use of the air rifle in connection with the Oct. 2 incident outside of Brookline’s Temple Beth Zion, which took place on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in Judaism.

 

The scholar was arrested by ICE Boston Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Wednesday and agreed to return to Brazil voluntarily to avoid deportation, according to the Department of Homeland Security.

 

“It is a privilege to work and study in the United States, not a right,” DHS spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement. “There is no room in the United States for brazen, violent acts of anti-Semitism like this. They are an affront to our core principals [sic] as a country and an unacceptable threat against law-abiding American citizens.”

 

Gouvea, a visiting law professor at the Ivy League institution, was in the US on a so-called J-1 (temporary non-immigrant) visa, which was revoked by the State Department two weeks after the shooting incident.

 

After firing two shots, Gouvea was confronted by the synagogue’s private security, leading to a “brief physical struggle” before the suspect fled inside his home near the house of worship, according to a police report cited by Brookline.News.

 

When confronted by local cops, Gouvea claimed he was using the pellet gun to hunt local vermin. Police later discovered one of the shots had shattered a car window.

 

Harvard Law placed Gouvea on administrative leave, but did not publicly reveal any additional disciplinary action. As part of the professor’s plea deal, charges of disturbing the peace, disorderly conduct, and vandalizing property were dismissed.

 

The synagogue incident took place days after President Trump claimed Harvard had reached a tentative deal with his administration to restore $2.4 billion in frozen federal grants, ending a clash over issues including discrimination against Jewish students following Hamas’ Oct. 7, 2023, attack on Israel.

Western-backed anti-graft agencies bust crime ring led by Ukrainian MP

A major corruption scheme has been uncovered by Western-backed anti-graft agencies in Ukraine,currently rocked by a massive $100 million graft scandal linked to Vladimir Zelensky’s inner circle.

 

A “criminal group” led by a female MP has allegedly been uncovered by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO), who did not identify the suspect.

 

Multiple media reports indicated that the MP in question isopposition lawmaker Anna Skorokhod who is suspected of leading a group that extorted $250,000 from a Ukrainian businessman.

 

Skorokhod confirmed the searches at her properties, yet insisted that she had “nothing to hide” and suggested that the actions of the anti-graft agencies were politically motivated. The lawmaker has been a vocal critic of the Ukrainian leadership, repeatedly sounding the alarm over mounting casualties and rampant desertion within the country’s military.

 

“The timing and context of these events lead to unambiguous conclusions: I regard this as direct pressure on the opposition and an attempt to block my political activities because of my principled position.”Skorokhod wrote on Facebook.

The group allegedly siphoned some $100 million from state-owned nuclear power operator Energoatom,which has been heavily reliant on Western funding. It was not immediately clear whether the raid on Skorokhod was directly linked to the affair.

Back-To-Back Asteroid Approaches Expected Tomorrow: Here’s What NASA Says

Space watchers might want to set an early alarm, because Earth is about to get a double visit from two enormous asteroids tomorrow.

NASA, the renowned space agency has confirmed that Asteroid 2025 WD5 and Asteroid 2025 WF10 are heading in our direction for unusually close flybys.

While neither threatens to collide with Earth, their size and speed make this a moment astronomers aren’t taking lightly.

 

Asteroid 2025 WD5

The first space rock to swing past us is 2025 WD5, and it’s not a small visitor by any means. This asteroid is roughly 150 feet across, putting it in the airplane-sized category.

It’s racing through space at a blistering 80,955 km/h, which is the kind of speed that makes your morning commute look like a gentle stroll.

 

NASA says it will make its closest pass at 5:18 AM IST on December 6, coming within 2.99 million kilometres of Earth.

That might sound like a comfortable distance, but in the cosmic neighbourhood, that’s close enough to earn NASA’s full attention.

 

Asteroid 2025 WF10

A few hours later, another asteroid steps into the spotlight. Asteroid 2025 WF10, measuring around 120 feet, is also making a close approach.

Unlike its speedy companion, this one is comparatively slow, cruising at 15,522 km/h, but that doesn’t make it any less notable.

Its flyby is scheduled for 3:10 PM IST and it will remain 7.01 million kilometres away from Earth. Still, it’s large enough and close enough for astronomers to track it carefully and extract some useful data.

 

Neither of these asteroids falls under NASA’s “potentially hazardous” category, which is reserved for objects larger than 140 meters that approach within 7.5 million kilometres. These two are big, yes, but not big enough to panic over.

Still, their back-to-back flybys are reminders of how lively our cosmic surroundings are. NASA’s Near-Earth Object Studies team uses ground-based telescopes, radar observations, and massive data models to watch these objects long before they come anywhere near us.

Events like these also give scientists a rare chance to refine asteroid trajectory models, study their surfaces and better understand how to prepare for any future object that might pose a real threat.

Mark Kelly Says This 'Exciting' Scientific Find Raises Questions Of Life Beyond Earth

Retired astronaut and current Sen. Mark Kelly (D-Ariz.) celebrated NASA’s “pretty exciting” announcement on Thursday after the space agency highlighted how scientists found sugars essential for life on samples of a near-Earth asteroid.

While the discovery of the sugars glucose and ribose — which NASA’s OSIRIS-REx spacecraft gathered from the asteroid Bennu — did not indicate “evidence of life,” the findings show that “building blocks of biological molecules were widespread throughout the solar system,” according to NASA.

 

The space agency noted that the sugars deoxyribose — which wasn’t found in the samples — and ribose are key building blocks of DNA and RNA on Earth.

Yoshihiro Furukawa, a professor at Japan’s Tohoku University who led the team of researchers that made the findings, said that the discovery of ribose means “all of the components” that form RNA are present in the asteroid.

 

Kelly, in a clip shared on social media, said the findings spark “larger questions about life in the universe” and underscore the importance of federal funding for scientific research.

“We don’t know for sure if there’s life anywhere else, but when you think of the probability, the statistical probability that it exists, maybe there’s life out there,” said Kelly, who recently joked on Stephen Colbert’s late-night show that the U.S. found aliens, but it became a problem when they asked to go to our leader.

 

Danny Glavin, an astrobiologist at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center and co-investigator on the OSIRIS-REx mission, said in a video that the discovery makes him “much more optimistic” about the search for extraterrestrial life.

“What this means is that these building blocks of life were distributed from the outer solar system all the way into the inner solar system,” Glavin explained.

“They were everywhere, ubiquitous, which really makes me more optimistic that not only could these building blocks have enabled life on Earth, but potentially elsewhere — Mars, Europa, the outer solar system.”

‘You are not even in the game’ – Russian negotiator to Merz

Kirill Dmitriev has accused the German leader of sabotaging the Ukraine settlement process with his “warmongering”

German ChancellorFriedrich Merz has made himself irrelevant to Ukraine peace negotiations after attempting to sabotage the talks and “warmongering,” senior Russian negotiator Kirill Dmitriev has said.

 

Dmitriev was responding to Merz’s alleged remarks about US efforts to settle the conflict, reportedly made during a call with European peers and Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky earlier this week.

 

According to a transcript leaked by Der Spiegel,Merz warned Zelensky to be careful because US negotiators “are playing games” with him and his European backers. The outlet said Merz was referring to US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, who visited Moscow earlier this week to discuss Washington’s peace roadmap.

 

“Merz accuses the Americans of ‘playing games,’” Dmitriev wrote on X on Friday.“Dear Merz, you are not even in the game. You disqualified yourself by warmongering, peace sabotage, unrealistic proposals… stubborn stupidity.” Dmitriev added that instead of inserting himself into the peace process, Merz “should work on the domestic issues he ignores,” noting that the chancellor’s approval rating has been falling.

 

European leaders have been scrambling for a seat at the negotiating table after being blindsided by the US drafting a peace plan without their involvement, which, according to media leaks, favors Moscow in the eyes of Kiev’s backers.

 

Over the past few days,they reportedly tried to pressure Washington to revise key points. The leaked German call appeared to confirm that the EU leaders feel sidelined. Finnish PresidentAlexander Stubb reportedly said, “we’re out, but we have to get in.”

 

Dmitriev is not the first to argue that Kiev’s European supporters have compromised their credibility as negotiators. Russian presidential aideYury Ushakov earlier said Brussels shut itself out of the process by refusing any contact with Moscow. Foreign Minister SergeyLavrov argued that Europe has no place in the talks because it still seeks to use Kiev as a proxy to defeat Russia.

 

According to Ushakov,the US-Russia talks in Moscow were “constructive and useful,”but the sides have yet to agree on several key issues. After being briefed on the meeting, US President Donald Trump said his team believes Moscow wants to bring the conflict to a settlement. Both sides remain tight-lipped about the details.

EU leaders fear US ‘betrayal’ on Ukraine peace talks – media

On Monday, French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz held a call with Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky and several other European leaders, including Finnish President Alexander Stubb and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

 

The call came just a day before US President Donald Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, and his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, visited Moscow for talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

 

“There is a possibility that the US will betray Ukraine on the issue of territory without clarity regarding security guarantees,”Macron reportedly said during the call. The issue of territories remains one of the most sensitive in the negotiations.The original US-drafted peace plan reportedly required Ukraine to cede parts of Donbass it still controls among other things. The EU outright rejected this condition, insisting that Kiev should not give up any territories.

 

Macron also stated that continued peace talks could pose a “great danger” for Zelensky personally– an assessment shared by Merz, Stubb, and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, who also took part in the conversation, according to Der Spiegel.

 

EU leaders were also desperate to secure a seat at the negotiating table, the German magazine reported. “Right now we're out,”Stubb reportedly said during the call, “but we have to get in.”

 

They had reportedly hoped to arrange a meeting with Witkoff in Brussels on Wednesday, with Merz offering to speak to Trump about it, but the meeting never took place.

 

Brussels has shut itself out of the peace process by refusing contacts with Moscow, Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov said on Wednesday. Putin stated this week that the bloc was still living in an illusion about the possibility of Russia’s defeat and had no “peaceful agenda.”

NASA extends ISS National Lab management contract through 2030

The Center for Advancement of Science in Space will continue to manage the International Space Station National Laboratory for at least another five years, CASIS announced on Thursday.

CASIS has managed the ISS National Lab since 2011, after Congress created it to enable researchers to build a "robust market" in low Earth orbit by leveraging the unique environment that exists in space, CASIS officials said in a news release.

 

"For nearly 14 years, NASA has entrusted CASIS with managing this incredible asset for our nation and for the benefit of humanity," said Ramon Lugo, principal investigator and chief executive officer of CASIS.

"We will continue to work in collaboration, pushing the limits of space-based research and development for the benefit of life on Earth while driving a robust and sustainable market economy in space," Lugo added.

The National Lab supports research and development that could not occur on Earth, according to CASIS.

 

Over the past 14 years, the lab has conducted research into cancer, neurodegenerative diseases, aging, manufacturing done in space, communications technology and more.

Private firms account for about 60% of the more than 940 scientific payloads processed by the National Lab so far, including from Fortune 500 corporations and innovative startups.

 

The National Lab has supported more than 630 peer-reviewed studies that establish the groundwork for future applications of significant value for humanity, according to CASIS.

Several startups have earned the Boeing- and CASIS-funded Technology in Space Prize, and CASIS in 2025 created the Orbital Edge Accelerator program that allocated $500,000 to each of six startups, with funding coming from global investment partners.

 

CASIS also works with the U.S. National Science Foundation and the National Institutes of Health to support physical and life sciences studies.

The National Lab in 2024 partnered with NASA's Biological and Physical Sciences Division to award a total of $7 million to fund five projects intended to advance cancer research.

CASIS also supports education programs for students of all ages and that involve the National Lab on the ISS.

 

The extended National Lab management contract comes as the ISS continues supporting international space endeavors.

The ISS also is slated to receive several cargo flights from the Boeing Starliner, which encountered problems with its propulsion system during a crewed test flight last year.

Western European officials have privately acknowledged that Kiev may need to accept territorial losses to reach a settlement, El Pais has reported

European officials are increasingly accepting in private that Ukraine may have to relinquish its claims to Russian territories in order to reach a peace agreement, El Pais has reported.The apparent shift comes despite continued public statements by Western leaders that only Kiev can decide the future of its borders.

 

According to the newspaper, the change in stance became prominent during recent meetings between Ukrainian negotiator Rustem Umerov and envoys from France, Germany, Finland, Italy, and the UK.

 

The discussions reportedly highlighted diverging positions among theEuropean group, with some officials suggesting that a durable ceasefire would be unlikely without major territorial compromises by Ukraine. December's full moon was the third in a string of "Supermoons" — full moons that occur when the moon reaches its closest point to Earth in its monthly orbit. Around this time, it can appear up to 14% larger and 30% brighter than the smallest moon of the year, sometimes known as a "micromoon".

 

Photographers across the world leapt into action to capture the "Cold Moon" — named for the plummeting early-winter temperatures — as it rose above the eastern horizon on Dec. 4 before soaring high into the Autumn sky.

 

As such, we have indelible proof that the last full moon of the year provided a dazzling closing act to both the lunar calendar and 2025 as a whole.

The inaugural Global Space Awards ceremony gets underway this Friday (Dec. 5), as 340 guests converge at a glamorous red carpet event held at London's historic Natural History Museum to celebrate the movers, shakers and investors shaping the space industry today.

Friday's black-tie ceremony — hosted by renowned physicist and science communicator Brian Greene — seeks to establish a "unifying global stage" to recognise the achievements of those fueling the renewed drive to extend humanity's influence out into the solar system.

Its first year drew in over 500 nominations over eight distinct categories ranging from 'Playmaker of the Year' — which will go to an individual whose contributions have impacted the overall trajectory of the space industry — to awards for space investment, scientific breakthroughs, sustainability in space and more.

 

The winners, as judged by an international panel drawn from academia, policy, finance and industry, will be revealed during the Dec. 5 ceremony, which is dedicated to Gemini and Apollo astronaut James Lovell, following his passing on Aug. 7 earlier this year.

Members of Lovell's family will be in attendance to receive the inaugural James Lovell Legacy Award, which will be bestowed in future years to individuals who "honor the spirit" of the late astronaut.

"The Darwinian theory of evolution serves as the foundation for hosting the Global Space Awards at the Natural History Museum, symbolizing humanity's journey toward a civilization that not only adapts but thrives when utilising innovation from space," Sanjeev Gordhan, a member of the steering committee for the Global Space Awards told Space.com in an email.

 

"This event highlights the innovation driven by our exploration of the cosmos and our potential to evolve further."

The 50 finalists for the eight awards were given a thematic reveal on Nov. 6, when their names were broadcast from a screen dangling from a high-altitude balloon floating 23,000 miles (37 kilometers) above Earth's surface in the stratosphere.

Ancient Chinese texts reveal new clues about the 1st recorded solar eclipse

A team of international researchers say they've uncovered new data on the world's first recorded solar eclipse using a surprising source — ancient Chinese texts.

These findings could help us understand more about the progression of the Earth's rotation through the centuries.

The eclipse in question took place on July 17, 709 BCE, according to a chronicle titled "Spring and Autumn Annals." The caveat here is that this record was compiled around two or three centuries after the eclipse happened.

The chronicle comes from the court of Lu Duchy, a vassal state that existed during the Zhou dynasty.

 

"What makes this record special isn't just its age, but also a later addendum in the 'Hanshu' (Book of Han) based on a quote written seven centuries after the eclipse.

It describes the eclipsed sun as 'completely yellow above and below," lead author Hisashi Hayakawa, a researcher from Nagoya University in central Japan, said in a statement.

 

According to Hawakawa, this description has been historically associated with a solar corona — the outermost layer of the sun, which peaks out around the edges of the moon as the moon passes between the Earth and sun during an eclipse.

"If this is truly the case, it represents one of the earliest surviving written descriptions of the solar corona," he said.

 

The team tried verifying the record of the eclipse by modeling the Earth's rotation speed during this time. But they figured out that the eclipse wouldn't be visible from Qufu, the capital city of Lu Duchy, where the chronicle was compiled.

So, they looked at historical geography and archaeological excavation reports. They found out that previous studies used coordinates that were about 4.79 miles (8 kilometers) away from the ancient capital.

 

"This correction allowed us to accurately measure the Earth's rotation during the total eclipse, calculate the orientation of the Sun's rotation axis, and simulate the corona's appearance," Hayakawa said.

This newly improved dataset, the researchers say, fixes errors in previous studies that looked at the Earth's rotation.

"Additionally, it improves the accuracy of dating and reconstructing historical astronomical events," coauthor Mitsuru Sôma, a researcher from Japan's National Astronomical Observatory, said in a statement.

 

The one reason why this centuries-old record of an eclipse exists is due to an ancient belief that celestial events carry omens that were related to events of the time.

"They believed strange sky phenomena indicated political wrongdoing by emperors, which motivated careful tracking of eclipses, auroras, and other astronomical events," the release states.

 

The authors say that their work supports solar cycle studies from dating radiocarbon in tree rings that give scientists data on the levels of cosmic rays from this time period.

"Some of our ancestors were very skilled observers," coauthor Dr. Meng Jin, Lockheed Martin Solar and Astrophysics Laboratory, said in a statement.

"When we combine their careful records with modern computational methods and historical evidence, we can potentially find new information about our planet and our star from thousands of years ago."

Court Eases Sentence For Afghan Who 'Showed Restraint' After 'Only' Stabbing Teacher Six Times

 

A 29-year-old Afghan migrant has been sentenced to six years in prison for stabbing a 27-year-old teacher at random on the street, in the middle of the day, in the German city of Kirchheim unter Teck

 

However, despite stabbing his victim four times in the back and twice in the thigh, the fact that the Afghan stopped stabbing her once she screamed was enough to convince the court in Stuttgart to drop the attempted murder charge.

 

On March 14 of this year, the teacher was seriously injured while walking home from work. The 29-year-old, who did not know his victim, walked up to her from behind in a residential area and grabbed her neck. With his other hand, he began stabbing her in the back with a 9.5-centimeter knife four times. He then stabbed her twice in her thigh.

 

The woman began screaming, at which time, her attacker let her go and ran away.

 

Based on the fact that he stopped stabbing her and ran away, the court claimed this was a “withdrawal from attempted murder,” according to reporting from Yvonne Kussman for Aktuelle Informiert. Therefore, since the man could have kept stabbing her but stopped, he was only convicted of the lesser crime of previous bodily harm.

 

A similar legal ruling was recently applied to another controversial case in Germany involving SPD Mayor Iris Stalze, who was tortured and stabbed by her adopted daughter from Africa, to the point that she almost died. In that case as well, the ruling of a “withdrawal” was also issued, and no arrest was even made, with legal experts calling the ruling into question.

 

Regarding the details of this case involving the Afghan stabbing, it is worth noting that this “withdrawal” clause in the German legal system can only be invoked when there is a “genuine” withdrawal.

 

As Remix News cited: “If the perpetrator believes they have done everything necessary for the victim to die, they must then perform a voluntary and genuine counter-act that causes the prevention of the victim’s death.”

Peters, the former Republican Mesa County clerk, is serving a 9-year prison sentence for her role in a scheme to breach the security of her own election equipment. President Donald Trump has repeatedly demanded that she be released.

 

The director of the Federal Bureau of Prisons sent a letter to the Colorado Department of Corrections last month requesting that the state “initiate the transfer” of Peters to the bureau.

 

“Requests to transfer inmates from the Colorado Department of Corrections emanate from the state, and not from other entities. The state has not made any requests to transfer this inmate,” Shelby Wieman, a Polis spokesperson, said in a text to Newsline.

Ukrainian drone hits business center in southern Russia – media

A Ukrainian drone has crashed into a business center in Grozny, the capital of Russia’s Chechen Republic, local media have reported.

Footage has been shared showing the aftermath of the apparent strike, which sparked a fire.

 

On Friday morning, numerous Russian media outlets published footage of the 145-meter-high building in the city’s downtown, showing smashed windows and flames in one section of the building.

The impact appeared to hit somewhere in the middle floors.

 

Local authorities have yet to comment on the apparent attack, and there has been no information on potential casualties.

An RT Russian source in law enforcement, however, confirmed that the attack had been carried out by a Ukrainian drone.

Earlier in the day, Russian air traffic authorities introduced temporary restrictions at Grozny Airport.

 

According to publicly available data, the facility hosts several organizations, including the reception office of the ruling United Russia party, the Auditing Chamber, and a number of state institutions and private businesses.

The complex is less than 1km from the official residence of Ramzan Kadyrov, the head of the republic.

 

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 41 Ukrainian drones overnight across the country.

Ukrainian forces have routinely launched UAV attacks deep into Russia, often targeting critical infrastructure and civilian buildings. Moscow has denounced the raids as “terrorist attacks.”

NATO state issues Black Sea shipping warning

The recent naval drone attacks on vessels off Türkiye’s Black Sea coast, reportedly carried out by Ukraine, could make the region inaccessible to trade and human transport, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has warned.

In the past week, explosives-laden sea drones have struck two oil tankers and another carrying sunflower oil in Turkish territorial waters, according to the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure’s General Directorate of Maritime Affairs.

 

“It is turning the Black Sea into an area closed to trade and inaccessible to human transport due to the danger it poses,” Fidan told journalists Wednesday, describing the situation as “very frightening.”

The foreign minister also warned that the geography of the Ukraine conflict is “increasingly spreading,” while “the methods being used are becoming widespread.”

 

The incidents reported by Ankara involve two Gambian-flagged tankers, the Kairos and the Virat, which were struck last week off Türkiye’s coast while en route to the Russian port of Novorossiysk.

Several Western media outlets, citing a Ukrainian state official, reported that the assault was carried out as part of a joint operation involving the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and Kiev’s navy.

 

Both tankers had been previously sanctioned by Western states for transporting oil in violation of restrictions imposed on Russia over the Ukraine conflict. Moscow has denied operating a “shadow fleet.”

Earlier this week, the Turkish Transport Ministry said that the Russian-flagged tanker MIDVOLGA-2, carrying sunflower oil, was attacked about 80 miles (120km) off the country’s coast while en route to Georgia. Kiev has denied attacking the tanker.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Monday that attacks on commercial ships in the country’s Exclusive Economic Zone are unacceptable, warning against “a worrying escalation.”

 

The Russian Foreign Ministry has denounced the raids as “terrorist attacks,” with Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov also accusing Ukraine of encroaching on Turkish sovereignty.

Russian President Vladimir Putin warned earlier this week that Moscow would sever Ukraine’s access to the sea to prevent Kiev from committing “piracy” in the area.

Former Israeli spies now overseeing US government cybersecurity

 

A company founded and run by former Israeli military intelligence officers now oversees cybersecurity across more than 70 U.S. federal agencies, including the Pentagon and Department of Homeland Security, effectively giving a foreign intelligence-linked firm sweeping visibility and control over the digital lives of millions of American government employees.

 

“A company with deep ties to Israeli intelligence oversees cyber security across more than seventy US government agencies, including the Department of Defense and Homeland Security.

 

Axonius was founded by former spies in Israel’s Unit 8200 and its software, which allows an operator ‘visibility and control over all types and number of devices,’ collects and analyses the digital data of millions of US federal employees.

 

The stated aim of the Axonius platform is to centralize IT tools to identity and fix security breaches. As a product of Israeli intelligence, however, the scale of Axonius’s use across the US government raises serious questions.

 

Axonius was founded and is currently run by Israelis Dean Sysman, Ofri Shur and Avidor Bartov, who met in the 2010s while working on the same team within Israel’s Unit 8200 spy service. On his LinkedIn profile, Sysman offers few details of their work for the IDF, describing it simply as having ‘far-reaching implications.’

 

Sysman left the IDF in 2014 after five years and set up a cyber hacking outfit, while Shur and Bartov stayed on until 2017, a period which encompassed Israel’s 2014 war of aggression against Gaza, during which the IDF murdered more than two thousand Palestinian civilians.

 

Axonius was established with curious speed. After leaving the IDF in 2017, Shur and Bartov teamed back up with Sysman and immediately received $4 million in seed funding from Yoav Leitersdorf, a San Francisco-based Israeli-American and fellow Unit 8200 veteran, to start Axonius. Leitersdorf, the managing partner at US-Israeli venture capital firm YL Ventures, is a prolific early-stage investor in Unit 8200 cyber start-ups.

 

The same year Sysman, Shur and Bartov also received millions in seed financing from Israeli firm Vertex Ventures which is run by veterans of Israel’s spy units. Tami Bronner, a partner at Vertex, spent four years in Israeli military intelligence.

 

Following this early financing from investors close to Israel’s intelligence establishment, the company went on to receive hundreds of millions in investment from a network of US venture capital firms with intelligence links to Israel.

 

These include Palo Alto-based Accel Partners, which has invested in more than thirty Israeli tech companies, including another Unit 8200 cyber spin-out, Oasis. Nir Blumberger, an Israeli who served in the IDF, was recruited by Accel from Facebook to open its Tel Aviv office in 2016.

The backlash was immediate and ferocious. The Anti-Defamation League branded it an “anti-Jewish screed.” Harvard scrubbed its logo from the paper and added a disclaimer. Even The Atlantic, which commissioned it years earlier, killed the piece and paid a “$10,000 kill fee,” as Mearsheimer later told Tucker Carlson: “That’s the fastest $10,000 we ever made.”​

In early April 2006, Epstein got drafts of Dershowitz’s hit piece, “Debunking the Newest – and Oldest – Jewish Conspiracy,” comparing the scholars to authors of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion. Epstein, no stranger to Harvard influence, had donated millions and managed Leslie Wexner’s fortune, which funneled $20 million to the Kennedy School for programs like the Wexner Israel Fellowship training Israeli officials. He positioned himself as a patron to stars like Dershowitz and then-Harvard president Larry Summers.​

 

The irony couldn’t be thicker: elite financiers using cash and connections to bury a paper warning about exactly that dynamic—pro-Israel money pulling U.S. policy off course, especially amid the Iraq disaster. Mearsheimer told Drop Site, “I’m not surprised to see these emails, because Dershowitz and Epstein were close and both have a passionate attachment to Israel.”​

The attackers, who are known for exploiting web application bugs to hit organizations, were already flinging specially crafted HTTP requests based on public proof-of-concept exploits, according to Amazon.

 

"China continues to be the most prolific source of state-sponsored cyber threat activity, with threat actors routinely operationalizing public exploits within hours or days of disclosure," wrote CJ Moses, CISO and VP of Security Engineering at Amazon. "Through monitoring in our AWS MadPot honeypot infrastructure, Amazon threat intelligence teams have identified both known groups and previously untracked threat clusters attempting to exploit CVE-2025-55182."

 

The finding adds urgency to warnings earlier this week about CVE-2025-55182, the maximum-severity flaw in React Server Components and dependent frameworks such as Next.js. The bug stems from unsafe deserialization inside React's server-side packages, allowing an unauthenticated attacker to send a crafted request and achieve remote code execution without any authentication.

 

Google-owned Wiz estimates that roughly 39 percent of cloud environments were still running vulnerable versions earlier this week, with React's dominance across the modern web making the potential blast radius enormous.

The son of a prominent Chabad rabbi in Australia was convicted on charges of child sexual abuse Friday, capping off a long-running scandal that rocked the country’s Jewish community when it first broke.

 

Velvel Serebryanski, 61, was found guilty by a jury at the County Court of Victoria of having molested Manny Waks when he was still a child growing up in Melbourne’s Chabad-Lubavitch educational institutions. Waks is now an advocate for victims of child sex abuse.

 

Serebryanski denied all three charges of indecent assault and one charge of sexual penetration of a child aged between 10 and 16, but was nevertheless found guilty on all counts, in what Waks described as “the closing of a long and painful circle.”

 

Serebryanski’s pre-sentencing plea hearing is scheduled for Friday next week, on December 12, where Waks will appear in court to deliver his victim impact statement.

 

“I am relieved to share this outcome and grateful that justice has finally been served,” Waks said in a statement announcing the conviction. “Most victims and survivors of child sexual abuse never get any justice. With today’s verdict, I’ve now held to account both of my abusers.”

 

Waks was abused in the late 1980s by Serebryanski and former yeshiva school guard David Cyprys, who was convicted in 2013 and sentenced to eight years in prison for raping one boy and abusing eight others attending Melbourne’s Yeshiva College from the mid-1980s to early 1990s.

A group of drones struck several fuel and energy facilities in various regions of Russia during the night of December 5.

 

According to Ukrinform, ASTRA reported this on Telegram.

 

Local residents reported an attack on the oil refinery in Syzran, Samara region.

 

The mayor of Syzran later confirmed a drone attack on the city.

 

The Russian BBC service notes that the operational headquarters of Krasnodar Krai reported that the drone strike damaged the seaport of Temryuk (on the Azov sea, near Kerch): drones damaged "elements of the port infrastructure in Temryuk," causing a fire.

 

"According to preliminary information, there are no casualties, and personnel have been evacuated," emergency services reported.

From the NSA to Israeli defense tech, Mike Rogers isn’t slowing down

 

DEFENSE AFFAIRS: Former NSA director Mike Rogers discusses why Israel’s security challenges are redefining the next era of defense technology.

 

The career of Admiral (ret.) Michael Rogers reflects both his admiration for Israeli resilience and his strategic belief that the country is central to the future of not only cybersecurity but defense tech and dual-use innovation.

 

This week, Rogers, the former head of the US National Security Agency and US Cyber Command, sat down with Defense & Tech by The Jerusalem Post on the sidelines of the International DefenseTech Summit, led by the Defense Ministry’s Directorate of Defense Research and Development, in collaboration with the Blavatnik Interdisciplinary Cyber Research Center at Tel Aviv University.

 

It was far from being his first time in Israel. The first few times were in the 1980s, when the biggest security challenge for Israel was Palestinian terrorism, and there were military checkpoints on highways. Now, while there are no longer checkpoints along Israeli highways, the threat is not only Palestinian terrorism, but ballistic missiles and drone attacks from neighboring countries, as well as Iran and the Houthis in Yemen.

 

Times have changed, and so has warfare. And so has the innovative technology being churned out by Israeli defense-tech start-ups and the large defense companies.

 

Rogers often remarked that what impressed him most about Israel was not only its technical excellence but the country’s societal resilience under constant geopolitical pressure. Speaking to D&T, he noted that the adaptability and creativity of Israeli entrepreneurs mirrored the urgency of their national security environment.

 

“The last two times that I’ve been in Israel, I was under rocket attacks,” he said, chuckling that it was different from being under rocket attacks in Afghanistan or Iraq.

“I was at dinner with a friend, and we were sitting at a bar, and people started seeing alerts on their phones and calmly walked to a center corridor for shelter. I was mentally thinking how we would need to respond should there be an impact – I’m conditioned to do that. And everyone around me was calm. If we were in a restaurant in New York City, there would be panic. It amazed me,” he said.

 

After retiring from the US Navy in 2018, Rogers quickly gravitated toward Israel’s hi-tech sector.

 

“It was a strategic thought process. I wanted to stay involved in technology, defense, and national security. I spent a lot of time working in various nations and various defense ecosystems,” he said.

 

He joined Team8, the Tel Aviv-based venture capital firm created by veterans of Unit 8200, Israel’s elite signal intelligence unit. As an operating partner, Rogers advised start-ups on global expansion and helped shape strategies related to cyberdefense and intelligence.

 

His move to Team8 was not without controversy. Some former NSA colleagues criticized his decision to join a firm so closely linked to Unit 8200, arguing it blurred lines between US intelligence leadership and foreign military-linked ventures.

 

But Rogers has defended his role as part of a broader mission to foster global collaboration in cybersecurity, stressing that threats are transnational and require partnerships across borders. While Israel and the United States have enjoyed a clear technological advantage over the past few decades, adversaries continue to work to overcome and negate that technology.

 

“What happens if that [technological advantage] is not the case? If we face adversaries who are technologically peers, or even better? What does that mean for us? We cannot assume that we will always have the technological advantage,” he said.

 

According to Rogers, the large defense companies with their strong capabilities, capacities, and capital are “no longer enough.”

Pastor allegedly tried to meet minor for sex he ran for Congress as a Democrat and was an NAACP leader

 

A California community is reeling after hearing the news that a local pastor was allegedly caught trying to meet a person he thought was a minor for sex.

 

James David Stockton, 54, was arrested on Saturday by Signal Hill police after an online citizen group called "Caught Fished" said it had documented inappropriate messages with the pastor.

 

'He got into the nasty part that no pastor should be talking about.'

 

Stockton is the pastor at South Bay Church of God in Torrance. He ran for Congress as a Democrat in 2024, and before that he was a leader of the NAACP in Marion County.

Netanyahu taps military secretary Roman Gofman as next Mossad chief in surprise move

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday selected Maj.-Gen. Roman Gofman, his current military secretary, to be the next Mossad director.

Gofman is multitalented and “has demonstrated creativity, initiative, stratagem, a deep understanding of the enemy, profound discretion, and the capability to safeguard secrets,” the Prime Minister’s Office said.

“These qualities, as well as his leadership and courage, were evident at the outbreak of the [Israel-Hamas War], when he rushed from his home and fought in person against Hamas terrorists in the Western Negev, where he was severely wounded,” it said.

 

Netanyahu said Gofman, who has never been in the Mossad, had worked closely with the Mossad and all the other defense agencies on his behalf as military secretary.

Mossad Director David Barnea is due to conclude his five-year term next June.

 

Netanyahu overlooks leading candidate for Mossad chief role

The choice of Gofman was a surprise, as the leading candidate to replace Barnea was expected to be “A,” a senior Mossad commander.

Mossad sources were highly circumspect with The Jerusalem Post regarding what to expect during his term.

Even “A” would not have been a traditional pick for Mossad director. The last three Mossad directors – Tamir Pardo (2011-2016), Yossi Cohen (2016-2021), and Barnea – had served as the deputy director before being appointed to the top post.

 

There were divergent views among Mossad officials regarding “A,” the Post was told.

Nevertheless, “A” had serious support within the Mossad, the Post had also learned. It appeared that some had calculated that it was better to support “A,” even though he was not the deputy director, given that he was from within the agency.

There appeared to be concerns that Netanyahu would try to appoint an outsider, as he recently did when naming David Zini, another IDF major-general, to head the Shin Bet, even though Zini had never served in the domestic intelligence agency.

Some Mossad sources said Barnea had pushed out other potential candidates from the spy agency, paving the way for an outside hire.

 

Netanyahu's frustration with Israel's top defense chiefs

During the 2023 judicial overhaul crisis and since the October 7 massacre and the ensuing Middle East war, Netanyahu was said to be repeatedly frustrated with the heads of the IDF, Shin Bet, and Mossad for not toeing the line on various controversial issues.

Former IDF chief of staff Lt.-Gen. (ret.) Herzi Halevi, former Shin Bet director Ronen Bar, and Barnea all allowed many of their officers to protest the judicial overhaul, provided they did so in uniform.

 

While this was within their free-speech rights, it was said to have infuriated Netanyahu.

The three chiefs repeatedly suggested ending the war earlier than Netanyahu would agree to – including a willingness to concede to Hamas on certain terms that Netanyahu would not – in exchange for an earlier hostage-return deal.

Netanyahu also blamed Halevi and Bar for the October 7 massacre and criticized Bar for probing his aides in the “Qatargate” affair.

This annoyed Netanyahu even more, and many have suggested this was a large part of why he appointed an outsider, such as Zini, who might feel more beholden to him.

Barnea was generally viewed most favorably by Netanyahu among the top three chiefs, and the Mossad director tried harder than the others to avoid any public disagreements with him.

Nevertheless, the choice of Gofman suggested that Netanyahu still viewed Barnea as acting too independently, and he preferred a complete outsider who would back him on controversial issues, even if it meant conflict with officials within the Mossad.

Gofman is far from the first outsider to run the Mossad.

 

Then-prime minister Ariel Sharon appointed Meir Dagan, who had been part of the IDF high command, as an outsider to run the Mossad from 2002 to 2011, while encouraging the agency to be more aggressive, and he was considered one of the agency’s most successful directors.

Acting prime minister Shimon Peres appointed Danny Yatom, a member of the IDF high command, to lead the Mossad from 1996 to 1998. Yatom had to resign mid-term due to a failed assassination attempt of then Hamas chief Khaled Mashaal that became public.

Both Dagan and Yatom, however, held more senior positions than Gofman, serving in multiple posts as major-generals. Gofman is just more than 18 months into his first major-general position, a role in which officers typically serve for about three years.

 

Both Zini and Gofman were viewed as outsiders even among the IDF high command. Zini was headed toward retirement if he had not received the Shin Bet appointment and had never served in one of the high command’s more celebrated posts.

There were tensions between Gofman and former IDF chiefs Gadi Eisenkot (2015-2019) and Halevi (2023-March 2025), and there have reportedly been some tensions between him and current IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Eyal Zamir.

But the Post understands that Zamir is fully supportive of Gofman in his new role and has had many positive experiences working with him in prior roles.

 

Furthermore, Mossad chiefs who were closer to Netanyahu, as is Gofman, who is coming straight from working with Netanyahu on a daily basis, have had freer hands and wider support for new expensive programs than directors with less close relations.

Gofman’s appointment to the role was to be presented to the Advisory Committee for Appointments to Senior Positions, which is led by former chief justice Asher Grunis, later on Thursday.

 

He was briefly under investigation for allegedly managing an operation in which he used an underage 17-year-old to spread and leak information about psychological warfare against Israeli adversaries.

The minor was extensively interrogated by Shin Bet and later indicted for allegedly leaking state secrets to the enemy.

 

Although Gofman managed aspects of the operation and was allegedly illegally using a minor for operations that require having reached the age of 18, from the vantage point of what Gofman knew, his actions were definitely in Israel’s national interests and at most were a disciplinary violation, for which he did receive a letter of censure in his file, sources told the Post.

 

Gofman’s supporters said the case had merely shown he was willing to take risks to achieve Israel’s interests against difficult adversaries, and that all such operations can go sideways, but that they prefer risk-takers over officials who are not bold enough.

The Prime Minister’s Office listed Gofman’s credentials, including that he had served as a “fighter and commander in the Armored Corps [and as] a battalion commander in the 75th Battalion in the 7th Brigade.”

Additionally, Gofman was an officer in the 36th Division, the Etzion Brigade, and the 7th Brigade, it said.

 

Furthermore, Gofman was the commander of the 210th Division, the National Ground Forces Training Center, and a senior officer in COGAT, it added.

Gofman has been in his current role as the prime minister’s military secretary since May 2024, including involvement in Israel’s successful operations against Hezbollah in Lebanon, the military forces of the fallen Syrian Assad regime, and Iran.

Layer on top the largest sustained migration in human history. Between 2000 and 2025 roughly 110 million people moved from the global South to Europe, North America, and Australia, with UN projections showing another 200-300M by mid-century. No previous empire, no previous century, has ever seen population movement on this scale.

 

The result is already visible in every major Western city. Native children are minorities today in the public schools of London, Paris, Amsterdam, Stockholm, Toronto, Sydney, and most large American metros. The rest of the West is simply next in line. By 2040-2050 the native-born of European descent will be minorities in the under-30 age group in every single Western country without exception.

 

This is no longer a national story. It is the biggest demographic turnover the world has ever witnessed, happening in one human lifetime, driven by fertility differentials no government has ever reversed and migration flows no democracy has ever stopped once they reach critical mass.

 

The same elites who spent 30 years dismissing these trends as racist fever dreams now quietly place their own children in private schools that remain 80-90% white or East Asian while lecturing the rest of us to celebrate the transformation they personally avoid.

 

History has watched founding populations lose demographic dominance before. It has never once ended with the old culture, language, or social trust intact. The West is running the experiment at global scale and warp speed.

 

The numbers don’t negotiate. They simply arrive, one kindergarten class at a time, until the old world is gone.

Israel shredding Gaza ceasefire while US distracted by Ukraine

 

Jerusalem acts with impunity as truce violations, and civilian casualties, mount

 

There is no ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, even though an agreement reached on October 9 supposedly established one.

 

The Israeli assault on the Strip continues, albeit at a reduced pace from what it was for most of the past two years. By one count, Israel has violated the ceasefire agreement 591 times between October 10 and December 2 with a combination of air and artillery attacks and direct shootings. The Ministry of Health in Gaza reports that during this period, 347 Palestinians have been killed and 889 injured. The pattern of casualties including women and children as well as journalists continues.

 

Meanwhile, it is hard to find any documented Israeli casualties in the Gaza Strip during the same period, beyond an early shooting incident at Rafah in which Israel says a soldier was killed and Hamas says it had nothing to do with it.

 

The rules of engagement that Israel has given itself during this “ceasefire” are illustrated by the killing of two Palestinians last weekend along the “yellow line” ceasefire boundary near Khan Younis. The Israeli military said its forces had “identified two suspects" who “conducted suspicious activities,” after which “the air force, directed by forces on the ground, eliminated the suspects in order to remove the threat.” The “threat” consisted of two boys, ages 9 and 10, who had left their home to gather wood.

 

The same pattern of Israeli conduct prevails today in Lebanon, where a ceasefire agreement was reached in November 2024. The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) has recorded more than 7,500 airspace violations and nearly 2,500 ground violations by Israel in what the U.N. special rapporteur describes as a “total disregard for the ceasefire agreement.”

 

The Israeli attitude toward ceasefires was also displayed after an agreement for a ceasefire in Gaza and partial prisoner exchange was reached in January of this year. Israel welcomed some released hostages and used the breather for its military forces before ending the ceasefire and resuming its full-scale assault in March. The Israeli government evidently had no intention of ever implementing the later phases of that agreement.

 

Apart from agreeing to a ceasefire, there was no involvement by Hamas or any other Palestinians in the current 20-point “peace plan” for Gaza. The Trump administration constructed it, with the amount of input from Israel left unsaid but with a result that heavily favors Israel. Hamas thus rejects the plan, citing among other things how it leaves Palestinians under foreign rule.

 

In Gaza, that foreign rule would involve an international body headed by a firm backer of Israel: Donald Trump. The one other named prospective member of this supervisory body is former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, who is a controversial figure among Arabs for reasons involving both his abetting of the U.S. invasion of Iraq in 2003 and his later performance as an international envoy addressing the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

According to the City of Roswell’s Emergency Management Facebook page, multiple fire crews were dispatched to the blaze at the Aersale facility, but the Roswell Fire Department said they could not confirm which specific building was on fire.

 

It’s not known if there were any injuries. A passerby reported the fire just before 8 p.m. The fire was declared under control at 9:45 p.m.

The billionaire family poised to rewire U.S. media in Israel’s favor

 

Having acquired Paramount and CBS and eyeing TikTok and CNN, the Ellisons are constructing a pro-Israel information empire with unprecedented reach.

 

In early September, the Hollywood producer Lawrence Bender — known for his work with Quentin Tarantino on films including “Pulp Fiction” and “Inglourious Basterds” — had what he later described as “a really tough conversation” with the investors in “Red Alert,” an Israeli miniseries that dramatizes the Hamas attacks of October 7, 2023.

 

With just weeks remaining before the anticipated release on the second anniversary of the attacks, the show, produced by Israeli mass media company Keshet Media Group, was struggling to secure distribution outside of Israel. The news environment was far from favorable: Israeli fighter jets had just attacked a residential compound in Qatar, and a pledge to boycott Israeli film institutions that were “implicated” in the genocide in the Gaza Strip had collected thousands of signatures in Hollywood.

 

“No one’s going to want to buy something from the Israelis,” Bender, an executive producer of “Red Alert,” told the investors, as he recalled on stage at a Jewish National Fund–USA conference the following month. Among those investors was the Israel Entertainment Fund, which JNF–USA established last year with the Israeli streaming service Izzy to produce television and film for international audiences, with a focus on projects filmed in the “Gaza Envelope” region of southern Israel. “We were pretty stressed about what we were going to do,” Izzy CEO Nati Dinnar‏, interviewing Bender on stage, recalled.

 

According to its backers, “Red Alert” is essentially a work of Israeli propaganda at a moment when a majority of Americans view Israel’s government unfavorably. The Israel Entertainment Fund, in a slide deck featuring “Red Alert,” says that its projects benefit Israel by “educating viewers and altering perceptions.” Bender said that “our purpose” in making the show was to “change the conversation” about Israel among Americans, Europeans, and other viewers abroad.

 

A deal to reach that crucial international audience materialized only after Bender encountered David Ellison, the upstart Hollywood mogul, at a memorial service in September. With financing from his tech billionaire father, Oracle executive chairman Larry Ellison, David Ellison had recently merged his Skydance Media with the old-line movie studio Paramount. “It would be my honor to be a partner in this,” he emailed after watching “Red Alert,” according to Bender. “In Hollywood, that’s a rare thing,” Bender said at the JNF–USA conference, describing the studio head as “a big supporter of Israel.”
