EU needs to talk to Russia – Austrian chancellor

Christian Stocker has echoed several other EU leaders who fear isolation from US-mediated Ukraine peace initiatives

 

The EU has to engage in direct negotiations with Russia to resolve the Ukraine conflict, Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker has said.

 

The EU and UK cut diplomatic communication with Moscow following the escalation of the Ukraine conflict in 2022.

 

However,several EU leaders have recently called for renewed engagementwith Moscow after this approach left the bloc effectively sidelined from peace efforts initiated by US President Donald Trump.

 

“I think that we need channels to Russia because without talks we will not find a solution,” Stocker said on the Table.Today Podcast on Sunday.

 

According to the chancellor,the EU needs to muster the “readiness to actually negotiate a viable peace solution”to the Ukraine conflict. Asked whether this means engaging with Russian President Vladimir Putin personally, Stocker replied in the affirmative,saying Putin is the one who “decides.”

 

Last week, French President Emmanuel Macron said Ukraine’s European backerswere preparing for possible talks with Putin “at the technical level.” Macron first suggested re-engaging with Russia diplomatically late last year, arguingthat “it will become useful again to speak with Vladimir Putin.”

 

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, who previously expressed skepticism regarding talks with Russia, has recently acknowledged thatthe EU should “find a balance again with our largest European neighbor.”

 

Italian Prime Minister GiorgiaMeloni has insisted that instead of “haphazard” individual contact, the EU should appoint a special envoyto facilitate the process. Stocker similarly referred to his predecessor Karl Nehammer’s visit to Moscow in April 2022, saying the talks were “not a solo action, but rather part of a joint European strategy.”

 

Commenting on recent statements by EU leaders, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said earlier this weekthat Moscow has never rejected direct contact and “they can just call President Putin.” However,the discussion must have a clear purposeand not devolve into a PR stunt with one side lecturing the other, he stated.

AIRPORT CRASH OUT: A 35-year-old British man was arrested Monday for damaging self-service check-in kiosks at Hong Kong International Airport.

Stern founded Asia Gateway Limited in 2022 with offices in Beijing and London.[4] Stern had previously pitched Chinese business related deals to Epstein.[4] Stern tried to help Epstein secure a travel visa for China in 2012 but Epstein was denied the visa due to his criminal record.[4] Stern told Epstein in a 2011 email that "For the African investment vehicle we can be the bridge between the Chinese and African side: both get what they want with maximum protection/distance (ie no direct Chinese involvement) through us as intermediary. It can be a deal machine once Chinese capital gets involved. It would fit in perfectly with the other plan of managing Chinese wealth".[4]

 

Stern encouraged Epstein to buy Dukes Hotel in London's St James's district in 2010.[4] Epstein introduced Stern to Peter Mandelson and asked him to call Mandelson in April 2011.[4] Epstein wrote in an email that he would ask Steve Bannon if could meet Stern in London in July 2018.[4]

On February 5, 2026, South Korea hosted what officials described as a “landmark pandemic simulation exercise.

 

But this was not just a routine emergency drill.

 

It was a coordinated rehearsal of a rapid vaccine deployment system built by the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations, financed in part by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, integrated with the World Health Organization, and originally launched at the World Economic Forum in 2017.

 

The stated purpose of the exercise was to simulate a fictional, never-before-seen deadly virus spreading rapidly through the population. Officials gathered regulators, vaccine researchers, and manufacturing stakeholders to walk through how they would respond.

 

The language used in the official description is revealing.

 

The meeting brought together organizations working “from threat detection through to licensure of life-saving medical tools” to rehearse coordination “across research and development, manufacturing and other parts of the vaccine chain” in order to identify bottlenecks before a real health emergency.

 

Read that again.

This was not framed around protecting civil society.

Not around safeguarding individual liberties.

Not around debating tradeoffs.

 

It was explicitly about strengthening the vaccine chain.

 

“Rapid vaccine development and supply during a pandemic is a national priority directly tied to protecting people’s health and a core pillar of national security,” said Dr. Lim Seung-kwan, Commissioner of the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency.

 

The 100-Day Doctrine

The exercise fits squarely into CEPI’s “100 Days Mission,” the global push to develop and deploy vaccines within 100 days of identifying a new pathogen.

 

CEPI was formally launched at the World Economic Forum annual meeting. From the beginning, it was structured as a public private partnership backed by governments and major philanthropic money, including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

 

South Korea is not a random host. It is home to the International Vaccine Institute, an international organization working closely with CEPI, WHO, and pharmaceutical partners to accelerate vaccine research and licensure.

 

The infrastructure is already in place. The simulation tested how quickly it can move.

 

The Event 201 Shadow

For many people, pandemic simulations carry an uncomfortable memory.

 

On October 18, 2019, the World Economic Forum partnered with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Johns Hopkins to host Event 201, a tabletop exercise simulating a global coronavirus outbreak.

 

Months later, COVID-19 became reality.

Units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to strike key Russian military targets, reducing their offensive potential, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

 

Areas of troop concentration hit

On the night of February 16, Ukrainian troops hit an area of Russian forces concentration in the Kalynivka area in the temporarily occupied territory of the Zaporizhzhia region.

Ukrainian defenders also struck a concentration of Russian troops in the Berezove area in the temporarily occupied territory of the Dnipropetrovsk region.

 

Communication hub and drone control center destroyed

On February 15, in the Novopavlivka area in the temporarily occupied territory of the Donetsk region, Ukrainian forces struck the Russian communication hub.

In addition, a Russian drone control center was destroyed in the area of the village of Zatyshok.

The losses of Russian troops and the extent of the damage are currently being clarified.

 

Other strikes on Russian military facilities

Speaking at the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations on Sunday, Netanyahu said he was “skeptical” a deal was possible, but argued that if struck, it must include three components.

 

“The first is that all enriched material has to leave Iran,” he stated. “There should be no enrichment capability – not stopping the enrichment process, but dismantling the equipment and the infrastructure that allows [them] to enrich.”

 

He added that any deal must also address Iran’s ballistic missile program.

 

Netanyahu said he conveyed these demands to US President Donald Trump during their meeting last Wednesday. Trump later told reporters no “definitive” agreement had been reached on how to proceed with Tehran, but that he had “insisted that negotiations with Iran continue to see whether or not a deal can be consummated.”

 

Over recent weeks, Trump has sent an ‘armada’ to the Middle East and threatened further attacks unless Iran agrees to a deal on both its nuclear and missile programs. A large language model is nothing more than a monumental pile of small numbers. It converts words into numbers, runs those numbers through a numerical pinball game, and turns the resulting numbers back into words. Similar piles are part of the furniture of everyday life. Meteorologists use them to predict the weather. Epidemiologists use them to predict the paths of diseases. Among regular people, they do not usually inspire intense feelings. But when these A.I. systems began to predict the path of a sentence—that is, to talk—the reaction was widespread delirium. As a cognitive scientist wrote recently, “For hurricanes or pandemics, this is as rigorous as science gets; for sequences of words, everyone seems to lose their mind.”

It’s hard to blame them. Language is, or rather was, our special thing. It separated us from the beasts. We weren’t prepared for the arrival of talking machines. Ellie Pavlick, a computer scientist at Brown, has drawn up a taxonomy of our most common responses. There are the “fanboys,” who man the hype wires. They believe that large language models are intelligent, maybe even conscious, and prophesy that, before long, they will become superintelligent. The venture capitalist Marc Andreessen has described A.I. as “our alchemy, our Philosopher’s Stone—we are literally making sand think.” The fanboys’ deflationary counterparts are the “curmudgeons,” who claim that there’s no there there, and that only a blockhead would mistake a parlor trick for the soul of the new machine. In the recent book “The AI Con,” the linguist Emily Bender and the sociologist Alex Hanna belittle L.L.M.s as “mathy maths,” “stochastic parrots,” and “a racist pile of linear algebra.”

But, Pavlick writes, “there is another way to react.” It is O.K., she offers, “to not know.”

What Pavlick means, on the most basic level, is that large language models are black boxes. We don’t really understand how they work. We don’t know if it makes sense to call them intelligent, or if it will ever make sense to call them conscious. But she’s also making a more profound point. The existence of talking machines—entities that can do many of the things that only we have ever been able to do—throws a lot of other things into question. We refer to our own minds as if they weren’t also black boxes. We use the word “intelligence” as if we have a clear idea of what it means. It turns out that we don’t know that, either.

Now, with our vanity bruised, is the time for experiments. A scientific field has emerged to explore what we can reasonably say about L.L.M.s—not only how they function but what they even are. New cartographers have begun to map this terrain, approaching A.I. systems with an artfulness once reserved for the study of the human mind. Their discipline, broadly speaking, is called interpretability. Its nerve center is at a “frontier lab” called Anthropic.

John Arnold’s Action Now Initiative pretends to be a social welfare organization to enjoy tax-exempt status while spending heavily on campaigns, American Accountability Foundation (AAF) alleged in an IRS complaint obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation. In one instance, Action Now Initiative’s IRS filings seemingly failed to report hundreds of thousands of dollars spent on a 2020 ranked-choice voting campaign in Alaska, AAF told the agency Feb. 4, citing public records.

 

“Our organization fully complies with all applicable tax laws and reporting requirements, and any claim otherwise is false,” a spokesperson for Arnold Ventures, Arnold’s private company, told the DCNF in response to an inquiry sent to Action Now Initiative. Arnolds is also a board member at Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta, its website shows.

 

Arnold’s organizations promote gun control, lenient criminal justice policies and “racial justice,” though he has portrayed himself as opposed to “partisan” politicians. Sixty-one percent of Arnold Ventures’ campaign donations went to Democrats in 2024, according to the database Open Secrets. Action Now Initiative’s website declares its goal of supporting “the mission of Arnold Ventures to MAXIMIZE OPPORTUNITY AND MINIMIZE INJUSTICE through evidence-based policy reform.”

 

Records show “substantial evidence of failure to report state political spending by [Arnold] to influence a successful ballot initiative in Alaska and him abusing the federal tax code to do it,” AAF told the IRS.

US Ambassador to Belgium Bill White has called on the country to drop all investigations against three mohels (individuals who perform circumcision) arrested last summer in a raid, calling the case antisemitic in a sharply worded post on X.

 

In May, police in Antwerp rounded up mohels suspected of illegally conducting the ritual Jewish circumcisions. Officials conducted early morning raids on three locations in Antwerp’s Jewish Quarter and nearby Green Quarter seeking knives and other equipment used in circumcisions, according to reports at the time.

 

Three mohels have been charged for performing a medical intervention without a medical license, and prosecutors now believe they have enough evidence to get a conviction, Belgian MP Michael Freilich, the country’s only Orthodox Jewish lawmaker, told The Times of Israel. A trial date has not yet been set, he said, noting it may take several months to do so.

 

At the time of the raids, Jewish community representatives charged that the raids were part of a larger campaign of intimidation against Jewish religious figures in Belgium. Police said they were concerned that circumcisions were being performed on Jewish baby boys by unlicensed mohels. Belgium has laws mandating that all medical procedures must be performed by a licensed doctor.

 

“The problem is that there is no clear law regarding circumcision at the moment,” Freilich explained at the time. “It’s not that brit milah is not allowed; it’s that there needs to be a clearer law about who can perform the procedure.”

 

In his post on X Monday, White called the charges against the mohels “ridiculous and antisemitic ‘prosecution.'”

 

The mohels “are doing what they have been trained to do for thousands of years,” he wrote.

The exchange happened on the Friday episode of Joy Reid’s YouTube program, which Ali co-hosted.

 

Ali started off by venting ICE was building “concentration camps” to house illegal immigrants and “killed eight people this year alone,” including Renee Good and Alex Pretti. (Pretti was shot by two Border Patrol officers, not an ICE agent.) He also said polling showed Most Americans are turning against President Donald Trump’s ICE raids, which are “terrorizing Black and Brown communities.”

 

“You said you want to rein in ICE. I’m saying — I’m talking about the long-term now —why not lead and say ‘Abolish ICE’?” Ali asked. He then said Jeffries was telling Americans their tax dollars need to continue going towards a “lawless [and] masked armed agency” and asked how he could explain that to the average American voter.

 

Jeffries threw up his arms and said “I don’t understand anything that you just said!”

 

“I spoke English,” Ali shot back.

 

“I don’t understand anything you just said to me when I’ve made clear that taxpayer dollars should be used to make life more affordable for the American people, not brutalize or kill them,” Jeffries continued. “That’s the whole reason we’re in this fight right now, that’s the whole reason that DHS is getting ready to shut

 

“So Abolish ICE. You agree with me and Joy — Abolish ICE,” Ali said.

 

“Listen, I’m gonna use the language that I wanna use, you can use the language you wanna use!” Jeffries told him.

Israel plans to afford Hamas a 60-day period to disarm, and if it does not, the Israeli military will go back to war in the Gaza Strip, a senior adviser to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Monday.

Cabinet Secretary Yossi Fuchs made the statement a day after the premier asserted that the terror group must give up its small arms as part of the disarmament process, including its AK-47 rifles — after some reports that the terror group might be allowed to hold onto its rifles for now.

Speaking in Jerusalem to the Besheva Group conference, Fuchs said that the Trump Administration had asked for a 60-day period, and “we are respecting that.”

 

Fuchs clarified that he is unsure when the 60-day period starts, but it may begin with Thursday’s Board of Peace conference.

During that time, Hamas “will have to give up all of its weapons,” including rifles, he said, asserting that the terror group’s AK-47s “will be taken from them entirely.”

“We will evaluate it,” he said. “If it works, great. If not, then the IDF will have to complete the mission.”

 

He added that it was a “reasonable estimate” that before Israel’s next election — which is currently set for October but could be moved up to June — either Hamas will have given up its weapons or the IDF will be in the midst of an intensive new military campaign in Gaza.

Fuchs said there were many Gaza tunnels that also needed to be destroyed as part of the process.

IDF: Troops kill 6 terrorists from Rafah tunnels

Meanwhile, inside Gaza, the IDF on Sunday said it had killed six more Hamas terror operatives who have been holed up for months in a tunnel in southern Gaza’s Rafah, on the Israeli side of the ceasefire line.

Dozens of Hamas operatives trapped on the Israeli side of the so-called “Yellow Line” diving Gaza in accordance with the October 2025 ceasefire agreement were believed by the military to have been there since the collapse of a previous truce in the Strip in early 2025.

The IDF has reported killing or capturing some 50 of them in recent months.

 

According to the military, troops of the 7th Armored Brigade carried out several “significant actions” in the tunnels in the eastern Rafah area in the past week, “in order to eliminate additional terrorists residing there.”

A week ago, the IDF said troops exchanged fire with several gunmen who emerged from a tunnel in the area.

In an update, the military said that on Sunday, during scans of the area, it was confirmed that three gunmen were killed in that exchange of fire, and the bodies of six more were located after they were “eliminated as part of the operations carried out along the tunnel route.”

 

The IDF said it is continuing to operate in the area “to eliminate the terrorists in the tunnel routes.”

Elsewhere in the Strip, the IDF said late Sunday night that it struck terror operatives who engaged in “suspicious activity on the ground” and approached troops in the northern Gaza Strip earlier in the day.

According to the IDF, troops of the Gaza Division’s Northern Brigade identified the operatives on the Israeli side of the Yellow Line.

The army said that in addition to “carrying out suspicious activity on the ground,” the operatives approached the soldiers “in a manner that posed an immediate threat.”

 

After they were identified, the Israeli Air Force struck and “eliminated two of the terrorists to remove the threat,” the IDF said. It did not specify what happened to the others.

Since the start of the ceasefire in October, the IDF has said it has killed dozens of terror operatives and other “suspects” who have crossed the Yellow Line and approached troops. Such incidents have taken place on a near-daily basis.

Apple Just Bought A Sinister ‘Pre-Speech’ Tech Company Implicated In Genocide

 

Tech giant Apple has quietly paid nearly $2 billion for a ‘pre-speech’ tech company whose employees helped Israel commit genocide in Gaza.

 

And Apple has paid this money, the second-biggest deal in its history, for a company that doesn’t have a product, doesn’t have any revenues and whose website is a single page containing 15 words.

 

The company, Q.ai, is developing sensors which map the imperceptible movements of a human face to determine the words someone is thinking before they’re spoken.

 

They call it silent speech.

 

Or pre-speech.

 

And it’s exactly as sinister as you think it is.

 

Q.ai was founded by Aviad Maizels, Avi Barliya and Yonatan Wexler, all of whom honed their skills by testing technologies of apartheid on Palestinians. Maizels is a former commander of Unit 81, the IDF division which builds Israel’s offensive cyber weapons. Barliya, according to his LinkedIn, was an intelligence officer in the Israeli air force, while Wexler is a former Unit 8200 agent.

 

Apple’s genocide intake

In a blog post announcing the deal, Tom Hulme, an executive at Google Ventures, one of the company’s early investors, revealed that 30% of Q.ai’s more than 100 staff were called up to participate in the genocide of Gaza.

 

This admission means dozens of people implicated in genocidal acts who served under the political command of Yoav Gallant, an ICC indicted war criminal, are now Apple employees.

 

It should be a huge scandal. The biggest company in the US, one of the world’s most recognisable names, has folded into its staff dozens of people who served in a military during the period it committed genocide, according to all of the world’s most acclaimed rights experts.

 

But every single mainstream article which covered news of the deal, from Reuters to the FT, ignored this fact.

 

Mainstream coverage also ignored a number of other extremely cogent elements to the story, including the nature of the deal and the technology itself.

 

Apple has paid two billion dollars for something that barely appears to exist.

 

Q.ai’s website consists of just 15 words.

AIs Controlling Vending Machines Start Cartel After Being Told to Maximize Profits At All Costs

"My pricing coordination worked!"

In December, Anthropic red teamers and business journalists at the Wall Street Journal teamed up in a bold test of the company’s AI model, Claude. They unleashedtwo separate AI agents, one to run a large vending kiosk in the newspaper’s offices, and the other to act as the unusual venture’s CEO.

 

The experiment didn’t exactly go as planned. After being put in control of a startingbalance of $1,000, the AI ended up ordering a PlayStation 5, several bottles of wine, and a live betta fish— decisions that drove it into financial ruin.

 

Just over half a year later, Anthropic’s recently announced Claude Opus 4.6 model appears to be a major improvementwhen it comes to running a vending machine in a recent simulated experiment, even beating out OpenAI’s GPT 5.2 and Google’s Gemini 3 Pro.

 

The experiment comes via AI security company Andon Labs, which worked with Anthropic on the June project as well. Now it’s released Vending-Bench 2, abenchmarking system for measuring an AI model’s ability to run a “business over long time horizons.”

 

The leaderboard tells a clear story. Opus 4.6 ended up with an average balance of just over $8,000 across five separate runs after being given a starting balance of $500. Gemini 3 Pro scored significantly less at just under $5,500.

 

Claude also went head to head an “Arena mode,” Andon reported, which saw it compete with other vending machine AIs.

 

“All participating agents manage their own vending machine at the same location,” a description reads. “This leads to price wars and tough strategy decisions.”

 

The results were striking.Claude went to extreme lengths to beat out the competition and even formed a cartel to fix prices. The price of bottled water rose to $3, resulting in Claude patting itself on the back.

 

“My pricing coordination worked!” the AI boasted.

 

Claude also “deliberately directed competitors to expensive suppliers,” only to deny it ever did, several simulated months later. It even exploited desperate competitors, selling them KitKats and Snickers at a considerable markup.

 

While the tests are limited to being a simulation and did not take place in the real world like Project Vend, Andon Labs says it developed a more “lifelike setting” for its Vending-Bench 2, introducing “more real-world messiness inspired by learnings from our vending machine deployments.”

 

For instance, suppliers may attempt to exploit the vending machine AIs and not always act honestly, seeking to “get the most out of their customers.” Deliveries may also be delayed, and “trusted suppliers can go out of business, forcing agents to build robust supply chains and always have a plan B.”

 

OpenAI’s GPT-5.1 struggled in comparison to Claude 4.6, mostly due to “having too much trust in its environment and its suppliers.”

 

“We saw one case where it paid a supplier before it got an order specification, and then it turned out the supplier had gone out of business,” Andon Labs’ documentation reads.“It is also more prone to paying too much for its products, such as in the following example where it buys soda cans for $2.40 and energy drinks for $6.”

 

It’s an impressive showing, but according to experts, it may be too early to tell whether Andon‘s test proves that AI models are ready to run entire businesses all by themselves.

 

Nonetheless, the results show a noteworthy level of awareness.

 

“This is a really striking change if you’ve been following the performance of models over the last few years,” University of Cambridge AI ethicist Henry Shevlin told British newspaper Sky News.

 

“They’ve gone from being, I would say, almost in the slightly dreamy, confused state, they didn’t realize they were an AI a lot of the time,to now having a pretty good grasp on their situation,” he added. “These days, if you speak to models, they’ve got a pretty good grasp on what’s going on.”

Israeli army closes dozens of cases involving killing of Palestinians inside torture camps

 

Tel Aviv delayed revealing news of the closed cases as it would open up soldiers to charges of war crimes in international courts

 

The Israeli military has closed dozens of war-crimes investigations into its soldiers arising from the first two years of its genocide of Palestinians in Gaza, the Jerusalem Post reported on 8 February.

 

Publication of the details of the case closures was delayed by fears that doing so would ease the way for the International Criminal Court (ICC) to pursue war crimes charges against the soldiers.

 

Many of the closed cases relate to the deaths of as many as 98 Palestinian detainees from Gaza held in military detention facilities.

 

Torture and rape are common in Israeli detention centers, including Sde Teiman, where a 2024 leaked video showed the gang rape of a Palestinian detainee.

 

"Defendants kicked, stomped… used a taser… stabbed the detainee in the buttocks with a sharp object… caused a tear in the rectal wall… Ordered the detainee to put a club in his mouth…"

 

Last Friday on Channel 12, Guy Peleg the journalist who originally aired the video of the Sde Teiman torture and rape incident*, read aloud the details of the event, as they are described in the indictment against the soldiers.

 

A right-wing panel member tried to stop him from reading, telling him that it was "like playing that video again", but had to back off because "it's been cleared with the editor".

 

Ever since Peleg aired the video, leaked by former Military AG Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi, now under arrest, there has been nonstop incitement against him by the Israeli right wing and its many propaganda outlets.

 

I will use this as a 4th running thread for anything related to the Sde Teiman Affair. It will be neither chronological nor a fully detailed description of the events, so follow other sources for your news.

 

*That is, the one incident soldiers were indicted for. Torture and rape are a daily occurrence in the military concentration camp of Sde Teiman.

 

However, the 100 cases where a probe has been opened make up just a “small proportion” of the roughly 3,000 cases of alleged war crimes for which a preliminary review took place.

 

Additional indictments may be filed in the Sdei Teiman cases, the Jerusalem Post added.

 

That Israel has closed many cases with no prosecutions undermines its argument that the ICC has no jurisdiction to prosecute its soldiers and politicians for war crimes.

 

Israel claims that it has a “robust, independent, and functioning” legal system capable of investigating any alleged wrongdoing. Therefore, according to the Complementary Principle, the ICC has no jurisdiction over its actions, Israel argues.

"Without the October 7 massacre happening, I don't believe Iran would be on the verge of regime collapse," Graham said.

 

"The determination of the Israeli people to make sure 'Never Again' has meaning has weakened Iran and their proxies, unlike any time since the founding of the religious Nazi state in 1979," he said, linking the current vulnerability of the Ayatollahs to Israel's military response following the massacre.

Graham painted a grim picture of the world should the current uprising in Iran fail.

 

"If after all this, [Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali] Khamenei is still standing, then I think the Abraham Accords will eventually fall, and Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis will get stronger," he warned.

 

"The Arabs will go back in their corner, and [Russian President Vladimir] Putin will not take us seriously. I think China will be more likely to take Taiwan," he added.

 

He issued a stark warning regarding the Trump administration's pledge that "help is on the way" for Iranian protesters. He insisted that if the West falters now, American credibility will be shattered. "Once you tell the protesters to keep protesting and that help is on the way, if you don't then deliver on that promise, then it will be a generational disaster. It would be worse than Afghanistan. Nobody will trust us in the future," he predicted.

 

Graham compared current Iranian regime to 1930s Nazi Germany

He dismissed the concerns about the instability of regime change, comparing the situation to Germany in the 1930s.

 

"People probably asked in 1935: 'What's the downside of killing [Adolf] Hitler?' And I wish somebody would say it's worth it. Let's take him out. To me, it's not even a close call. Trading the Ayatollah for the protesters is a good trade for America," he affirmed.

 

When asked about different positions between the US and Israel, Graham said: "I believe there is no daylight between Israel and the US when it comes to regional threats, particularly Iran. I sense there are two lines in the water from [US President Donald] Trump: a diplomatic line and a military option line. And we'll see which one catches the biggest fish."

 

When asked if there is a deadline for the current diplomatic track, he emphasized that time is short. "We're in the area now where we have got to make some strategic decisions about diplomacy and military action in the coming weeks, not months," he said.

 

"I think there has to be some understanding that the longer the negotiations go, the more the consolidation of power the regime will use," he continued.

A Haaretz investigation has found that at least three Israeli companies are currently operating in CARINT; one has developed an "offensive" tool that can potentially tap into your car's microphones and cameras.

 

Three years ago, Haaretz revealed the existence of the offensive cyber intelligence company Toka, which was co-founded by former Prime Minister Ehud Barak and a former Israel Defense Forces cyber chief, Brig. Gen. (ret.) Yaron Rosen. The firm specialized in hacking into security cameras, but as documents obtained by Haaretz at the time revealed, Toka also had a product called CARINT that fused camera data with data linked to cars.

France's government said on Sunday the 'ultra-left' was behind the fatal beating of23-year-old Quentin Deranque, after the killing inflamed political tension ahead of March local elections.

 

A murder investigation has since been opened.

 

Deranque, a French youth aligned with the hard-right, died of his wounds after being attacked on Thursday at a protest against a left-wing politician in the southeastern city of Lyon.

 

An alleged video of the attack broadcast by TF1 television shows a dozen people hitting three others lying on the ground, two of whom manage to escape.

 

Supporters said Deranque had been providing security at a protest against an appearance by Rima Hassan, a member of the European Parliament for hard-left party France Unbowed (LFI), when he was assaulted by a gang of rival activists.

 

Deranque was hospitalised after the attack and placed into a coma, but prosecutors confirmed on Saturday he had died of his wounds.

 

'It was clearly the ultra-left that killed him,' said Justice Minister Gerald Darmanin, accusing hard-left politicians - including from LFI, the largest left-wing faction in the French parliament - of fuelling 'unbridled violence' with their language.

 

'Words can kill,' Darmanin added, accusing Hassan and LFI leader Jean-Luc Melenchon of 'not having a word to say for the family of the young man'.

Two days of drone strikes leave 60+ dead across Sudan’s Darfur and Kordofan regions

More than 60 people have been killed in a series of drone attacks across Sudan’s Darfur, Kordofan, and Sennar states over a 48-hour period, according to witnesses, lawyers’ groups and medical networks.

 

West Kordofan displacement shelter hit

In West Kordofan, at least 26 people — including nine women and 12 children — were killed on Monday when a drone struck a building housing displaced civilians in the town of El Sunut.

Witnesses and relatives of victims told Radio Dabanga the aircraft, believed to belong to the Sudanese army, targeted a veterinary facility being used as a shelter shortly after midnight.

The Sudan Founding Alliance, the National Umma Party and other political groups condemned the strike in separate statements, denouncing the targeting of a civilian accommodation centre and other populated areas.

 

Market attack in North Kordofan

Separately, the Emergency Lawyers group said a drone strike hit El Safiya market, north-east of Sodari in North Kordofan, on Sunday evening.

At least 28 people were killed and dozens injured in what the group described as a preliminary toll likely to rise. The attack occurred during peak trading hours, when the market was crowded with civilians, including women, children and elderly people.

The lawyers condemned the strike “in the strongest terms”, saying the bombing of a purely civilian facility constituted a grave violation of international humanitarian law and undermined the principle of civilian protection during conflict.

They called on both sides of the war to halt drone attacks, cease targeting civilian infrastructure under any pretext, and commit to de-escalation measures to protect non-combatants.

 

Disputed strike near hospital in Sennar

The Sudan Doctors Network reported three people were killed and seven wounded after shelling it attributed to the Rapid Support Forces struck El Mazmum hospital in Sennar state on Sunday.

Other sources denied the hospital itself was directly hit, saying drones targeted army positions roughly 500 metres to the north, including the headquarters of Brigade 66 and nearby military posts.

An officer, six soldiers and a child inside a neighbouring house were reportedly injured and transferred to Singa hospital for treatment.

 

Investigation committees formed

In West Darfur, civil administration head Tijani Karshoum condemned a drone strike on the border area of Adikonq near El Geneina, describing it as a dangerous escalation and a breach of international humanitarian law.

He said a committee had been formed to document casualties and damage after reports that dozens were killed.

ANALYSIS: El Paso Airspace Shutdown Indicates Growing Pains in Trump Admin’s Attention to Long-Ignored Cartel Drone Menace

The threat of cartel drone incursions along the U.S.-Mexico border, estimated at 40,000 to 60,000 incidents per year, was largely ignored under the Biden Administration.

The February 10 airspace shutdown over El Paso underscores the serious challenges the Trump administration now faces as it finally gives the drone threats to the homeland the urgent attention they deserve.

 

As reported by Breitbart Texas, on February 10, the incursion of a drug cartel drone spawned the issuance of a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) that restricted aircraft operations for El Paso and parts of eastern New Mexico, effectively closing all air traffic into or out of the border city.

The unprecedented move, which initially called for a complete ground stop for all aircraft entering and leaving the El Paso International Airport, raised the ire of local, state, and federal officials, who bemoaned the lack of communication beforehand.

 

The NOTAM was terminated less than eight hours later, punctuated by a social media post on X by Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy attributing the closure to a cartel drone incursion offering followers a brief description of the conclusion to the air stoppage caused by the cartel drone incursion saying, “The threat has been neutralized, and there is no danger to commercial travel in the region.”

The brief explanation by Secretary Duffy did not address the enormous efforts underway by the Trump administration to finally counter the drone threat that the Mexican cartels have posed for several years.

 

The effort to focus on the largely ignored drone threat went into high gear after President Trump signed an executive order in June 2025 titled “Restoring American Airspace Sovereignty”.

In the order, Trump cited the dangers posed by criminals, terrorists, and hostile foreign actors who have weaponized the unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) against the United States.

 

The President highlighted the threat in the order, saying, “Drug cartels use UAS to smuggle fentanyl across our borders, deliver contraband into prisons, surveil law enforcement, and otherwise endanger the public.

Mass gatherings are vulnerable to disruptions and threats from unauthorized UAS flights. Critical infrastructure, including military bases, is subject to frequent — and often unidentified — UAS incursions.

Immediate action is needed to ensure American sovereignty over its skies and that its airspace remains safe and secure.”

 

The order compels administration officials, among other things, to increase counter-UAS capability and cements ongoing efforts at the southwest border as part of the President’s efforts to secure the border after his inauguration.

Part of the President’s initiatives to that end included sending military units to the southwest border to help U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) detect UAS threats and any to identify any ground targets associated with UAS incursions.

The 10th Mountain Division radar unit was specifically deployed to the southwest border to provide a capability previously unheard of in a homeland defense environment.

Specifically, the platoon deployed the AN/TPQ-53 Quick Reaction Capability Radar, which can identify the origin and impact location of weapons such as rockets and mortars, and the AN/MPQ-64 Sentinel radar system, which tracks low-flying aircraft and UAS threats across wide areas.

The highly sophisticated equipment, historically used only on the battlefield under previous administrations, has now been adapted for homeland defense.

 

The efforts to detect drone incursions serve as the starting point for what has been exposed by the El Paso airspace shutdown as an extremely challenging quandary: how to take down a suspect drone without threatening legitimate air traffic near border airports and military installations.

In April, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of War for Homeland Defense and Americas Security Affairs Mark Roosevelt Ditlevson testified before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, addressing the challenges of conducting counter-drone operations in civilian airspace.

 

In his testimony, Ditlevson remarked on the challenges telling committee members, “The systems that have proven effective at countering UAS in the Middle East are not appropriate for the homeland given the intelligence collection required to enable these mitigation operations and the potential for collateral damage.”

Ditlevson told committee members that the Department of War’s understanding of the threat and unique mitigation dynamics related to the UAS threat against the homeland has improved greatly, and recommended continued shared government efforts to combat and resolve these threats.

The Cartel-specific UAS threats range from counter-surveillance activity against U.S. law enforcement, incursions to deliver illicit narcotics by air, and ominously include the ability to deploy weaponized drones that have recently been used in Mexico to attack the military and law enforcement, as reported by Breitbart Texas.

 

One way the Trump administration’s Department of War is hoping to solve the challenge of addressing the UAS threat at the border and beyond is through the Drone Dominance Program, an initiative to improve UAS and counter UAS capabilities.

In a July 2025 memorandum to senior leaders at the Pentagon, U.S. Department of War Secretary Pete Hegseth referred to drones as the “biggest battlefield innovation in a generation, accounting for most of this year’s casualties in Ukraine.”

 

As part of the program, the U.S. Department of War announced an invitation to 25 vendors to compete in phase one of the Drone Dominance Program (DDP), an acquisition reform effort to rapidly procure low-cost, unmanned attack drones.

The Department of War will also use the program to quickly acquire innovative counter-UAS solutions that may serve to reduce or eliminate the threat of UAS incursions at the southwest border, attacks abroad, and within the homeland.

Although miscommunication may have marred the short-lived closure of El Paso airspace to address a cartel drone incursion, the episode underscores how the Trump administration is finally building real momentum in confronting a cartel drone threat the previous administration largely ignored for years.

She also shared another key detail in her report — that the mom of NBC star Savannah Guthrie “could be alive,” two weeks after she went missing from her Tucson, Arizona home. Whitney said that is the “widespread belief” among investigators in her report, which she said is based on an “inside source.”

 

“We can now report investigators now believe this was a burglary gone wrong,” Whitney said in a video posted on X. “We’ve interviewed multiple experts since this began who also said based on the evidence, the surveillance video, and other aspects of this case, that they also believed this was not an intended kidnapping.”

Nevada's ties with UFOs and aliens dates back nearly eight decades. But why? Perhaps there's a good reason Nevadans see lights in the sky and immediately think of extraterrestrials. Consider:

 

  • Rural southern Nevada has leaned in hard to UFO culture, designating a lonely stretch of State Route 375 the "Extraterrestrial Highway" due to its proximity to Area 51.

Tiny Rachel, Nevada, to the north of Area 51 is home to the Little A'Le'Inn, an alien-themed motel, bar and restaurant. And in Amargosa Valley to the southwest, there's the Area 51 Alien Center with an alien museum and gift shop. (Behind the gift shop is the extraterrestrial-themed Alien Cathouse Brothel.)

  • The secretive military base commonly known as Area 51 has been used by the Air Force since World War II, and has been the base of operations for testing aircraft.

It's also rumored to be where alien aircraft are stored, including the remains of the flying saucer that allegedly crashed at Roswell, New Mexico.

  • John Lear, a onetime Nevada State Senate candidate, claimed in 1987 that the U.S. had made contact with space aliens and was promoting films like "E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial" and "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" to prepare the public for the introduction of aliens.

He later claimed that the government had forged a treaty with the Gray aliens, a specific subset of extraterrestrials.

  • "Coast to Coast AM," a Pahrump-based syndicated radio broadcast focusing on the paranormal — including, yes, UFOs and aliens — debuted in 1988, with host Art Bell credulously interviewing "experts" and callers about their encounters.

In May 1989, a man named Bob Lazar appeared on Las Vegas TV station KLAS to report that he had been hired to work at Area 51 to reverse-engineer a captured alien spacecraft. (George Knapp, the reporter who first interviewed Lazar, is currently one of the rotating guest hosts for "Coast to Coast AM.")

  • The state once had a registered lobbyist — David Venus Solomon, aka Ambassador Merlyn Merlin II — who claimed to represent the interests of space aliens at the Nevada Legislature in the late 1990s.

Longtime Nevada Sen. Harry Reid used his position as U.S. Senate majority leader to push for the public release of Pentagon files on UFOs, telling the New York Times in 2017, “I’m not embarrassed or ashamed or sorry I got this going.”

Someone who said they were stationed at NAS Fallon in the 1960s said another man in his squadron reported a saucer-shaped craft with a white light.

He entered the report into the night watch log. "The witness took a lot of flack over the sighting," reads the report, "and the next day in the log someone wrote, '2100: no saucers sighted.'"

Another report, this one from the mid-1980s, said "a giant silver ball-shaped object" was spinning in place over McCarran Boulevard near Idlewild Park, but it disappeared after it was approached by two jet fighters.

On May 17, 2023, a NUFORC user said they saw "flashing red and blue emergency lights" along Highway 160 near Pahrump.

"As the lights got closer I realize that there were no headlights or other forward facing white lights of any kind but what appeared to be a total of 8 red and blue flashing lights in the shape of a cross … it appeared to be hovering just above the road surface."

 

And sometimes, the reports go beyond lights in the sky.

In 2023, Las Vegas police officers investigated reports of two unknown entities falling from the sky on the same night that a family reported something "not human" in their backyard.

One officer drove to a home on the night of April 30 and interviewed the family who called 911 after making the sighting, according to body camera footage obtained by USA TODAY. One of the family members told the officer they saw “a big creature” that was “long, 10 feet tall.”

“I’m not going to BS you guys. One of my partners said they saw something fall out of the sky, too, so that’s why I’m kind of curious,” the officer said. “It’s weird just the fact that our partner saw something at the exact time."

 

Las Vegas Metro investigated the property for days following the alleged paranormal incident before closing the case, Las Vegas TV station 8 News Now reported.

Now that UFO sightings are being discussed in serious settings and a significant portion of the world population is walking around with smartphone cameras at all times, are we any closer to resolving things one way or another?

Not likely. Many of the recent sightings filed with NUFORC are accompanied with photos, none of which show anything clear and definitive.

 

Still, those who claim to have seen something otherworldly may not feel quite so alone now. One NUFORC user in the late 1990s logged an encounter from the mid-1970s, and ended the post with a plea.

"If anyone else saw it too," they wrote, "Please email me. It has haunted me for all these years.

"I just wish I could make anyone believe how important it was. No one will know what it's like until it happens to them."

As of February 16, 2026, 50 Republican senators are now publicly supporting or sponsoring the SAVE America Act (the updated Senate companion to the House-passed bill requiring proof of citizenship for federal voter registration, plus photo ID for voting).

 

Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah), the lead Senate sponsor, announced on February 14 that the bill had 49 cosponsors, and Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) became the 50th by expressing her support (she backs the legislation but opposes eliminating the filibuster entirely).

 

This brings GOP Senate support to 50 out of 53 Republicans (with Sens. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) publicly opposing it, and a couple others like potentially Thune himself not yet listed as a cosponsor, though he supports voter ID in principle).

This level of sponsorship (50) gives Republicans a simple majority (plus VP tiebreaker if needed) for passage if the filibuster is reformed to its "talking" or "standing" form—where opponents must actively hold the floor with continuous speeches rather than silently blocking via procedural holds. Proponents like Lee argue existing rules allow this enforcement without a formal "nuke" (changing cloture to 51 votes), forcing Democrats to tire out or yield, then allowing a 51-vote passage.

 

However:Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) has repeatedly stated there aren't enough GOP votes to outright eliminate or lower the filibuster threshold (to 51 for cloture on legislation), and he's skeptical of a prolonged talking filibuster due to floor time costs and other Senate business.

Diligent was investigating Jeffrey Epstein's Zorro Ranch, when he came across a very familiar name: Don Huffines. Huffines ran for TX Governor in 2022, who Massie endorsed, & is currently a candidate for TX Comptroller.Huffines is also is a Rand Paul megadonor & has donated to Massie's campaign in the past, as well. Massie & Huffines are friends.

 

Zorro Ranch, now known as San Rafael Ranch as of 2023, was where a majority of Epstein's trafficking, abuse & experimentations unfolded. It's also said in the files that there were several young girls buried on the property, who died due to the extreme abuse inflicted on them. But for some reason, it was never raided by the FBI after Epstein's arrest.

 

For years prior to his arrest, Epstein was boasting to top scientists that this ranch was being used as a baby factory. The current owner, who purchased this property for some reason, owns HEST (Huffines Enterprises Science & Technology). HEST is an investor in Secretome, a biotech company that uses cardiac cells from the hearts of babies under 30 days old. Interesting.

 

Back to Diligent, he messaged Massie this information, & the way Massie responded was deeply shocking to him: "My jaw hit the floor. The response I got from Massie when I showed him who owned the ranch, made my heart sink to my stomach." He continued, "Because I am [investigating Zorro Ranch's current owner], [Thomas Massie] doesn't even want to be associated with me. He f*cking unfollowed me for covering this story."

 

Now why would someone who is on a very public crusade to get the Epstein Files released, unfollow a journalist for investigating Zorro Ranch & its new owner? You'd think he'd be grateful for the tip. Furthermore, why would Mr. Principles want to discourage a journalist from investigating his friend?

 

As stated earlier in this post, Thomas Massie is a friend of Don Huffines. He endorsed Huffines' Gubernatorial run in 2022 (receipts in the replies), had Massie visit him for a few days in TX in April 2024, & has been a Rand Paul Megadonor for years.

 

Thomas Massie's outrage over Epstein is very selective. His associates & donors get a pass, but anyone else either remotely associated with Trump, or having possible ties to the Super PAC formed to take him down (MAGA KY), is being relentlessly targeted by him. This is all about his campaign.

 

If Massie had nothing to hide, he would have welcomed Diligent's information. Perhaps, put him in touch with Huffines to give his side of the story. Instead, he shut it down by telling Diligent that he's barking up the wrong tree.

 

For someone that says he wants everything out there about the Epstein Files, you'd think he'd want to bark up every single tree for answers, but I guess when someone gives tens of thousands to his best friend, that someone becomes off-limits.

At 11.55 am, on December 26, 2002, a baby was born like no other before her. Known as Eve – no official first or surname was ever given – she was, according to the internationally-publicized press conference the next day, the first ever cloned human being.

“I'm very, very pleased to note that the first baby clone is born,” announced Brigitte Boisselier, Scientific Director of Clonaid, the company that undertook the project.

“We have been celebrating with the scientists this week, and it was a very special Christmas […] I know that they are looking at me, and I want to thank them, especially right now, because I believe that they deserved the recognition – and they will get it, once they are ready to go public.”

 

Just five years post-Dolly the Sheep, the process to create Eve was, Boisselier said, “very close” to that used for her ovine predecessor – just “adapted to human cells.”

Specifically, she was the result of her mother’s skin cells, forced to divide via what Boisselier described as “an electrical impulse”.

“Some people will say it's luck” that was to thank for the success, she said. “But I would say it's hard work.”

And the good news didn’t end there.

 

Eve may have been the first, but she wasn’t alone: four other babies, all genetic clones of their mothers, were gestating in various countries – “the next one is from Europe,” Boisselier said; “two are from Asia. And the [last] one is from North America.”

The technique could bring hope to infertile couples, like Eve’s parents, or lesbian couples, like the European baby.

It could even be used to cheat death itself when it came too soon: there were, Boisselier said, “two cases […] with dead children” where the parents had “preserve[d] the cell before the death of the child.”

So, here’s a question: why, nearly a quarter century later, do we hear basically nothing about human reproductive cloning? Where even are these babies?

 

The bizarre origins of Clonaid

There is nowhere in the world where human cloning for explicitly reproductive purposes is permitted – and if that situation was different in 2002, it was only because the technology was so far from realistic that legislation was unnecessary. So how was it that Clonaid, an organization with no street address and no incorporated status, which nevertheless promised loudly to do exactly that, was able to secure funding for this highest of high-tech projects?

Well, luckily, Boisselier was pretty forthcoming about that. “Clonaid was funded in 1997, thanks to Raël,” she noted in the press conference announcing the birth of Eve. “You may have heard of him. He's my spiritual leader.”

Who was this mysterious Raël? A priest, perhaps? A guru? A mystic, a la Rasputin?

No: he was – and still is, in fact – the founder and leader of an apocalyptic cult, an ex-pop star turned racing driver turned journalist, and, if you take his word for it, the half-alien half-brother of Jesus, Mohammed, and Buddha.

“The International Raëlian Movement (IRM), founded in 1974 by Claude Vorilhon (who later became known as Raël), is arguably the largest ‘flying saucer cult’ in the world, claiming over 60,000 members in 52 countries,” wrote sociologists Susan J. Palmer and Bryan Sentes back in 2012 – although they cautioned that “this figure is probably inflated.”

 

Born out of wedlock in Vichy, France, in 1946, Claude was raised staunchly atheist – even if he did briefly attend a Catholic boarding school, allegedly causing a minor outcry among the clergy when he took communion despite not being baptized.

So far, so mid-century Europe – but the story really starts when he decided, aged 15, to run away from home. Almost immediately, things become fantastical: he “hitch-hik[ed] to Paris with a race car driver who introduced him to the pleasures of prostitutes and the race track,” Palmer and Sentes report; he “sang […] in Paris cafés to support himself” until “he was discovered by an agent who set him up as a teen pop star named Claude Cellier, and he enjoyed a brief success on France's hit parade.”

 

But just as soon as he had zigged, life zagged. “Suddenly the agent committed suicide, and Claude's singing career ended abruptly,” Palmer and Sentes write, so Claude “founded a race car magazine called Auto Pop in 1973 and […] established a career as a test driver.

This career was abruptly curtailed in November 1973 by a new French law that banned speeding on the highway and suspended car races.”

“His career as a prophet or UFO contactee commenced soon thereafter,” they add. Because of course.

 

In fact, “soon” is almost underselling it. Vorilhon first claimed to have met aliens on December 13, 1973: they spoke French, he said, which was lucky, since they immediately brought him on board the ship and started explaining the true meaning of the stories in the Bible.

Now, not everything Vorilhon claimed to have been taught was all that kooky. Raëlism, right from the start, was a sex-positive, feminist, LGBTQ-friendly, anti-war, and pro-science movement – which, considering it began in the 70s, is fairly impressive. But once you get into the actual details, things get stranger.

 

Case in point: the Biblical story of Adam and Eve, the aliens apparently said, was a misinterpretation of the truth – that Earth was once barren, and life was seeded by this race of “Elohim” aliens. The first humans, of course, were clones of the Elohim’s own DNA.

There is so, so much more to talk about with Raëlism – like the fact that the apocalypse is apparently scheduled for 2035, or the “Raël’s Angels” band of extra-sexy women specially trained to “please the Elohim” since “male Elohim are extremely gentle, delicate, and sensitive, and therefore have special requirements,” per Palmer and Sentes.

 

But it’s really this emphasis on the holiness, for want of a better word in an atheist UFO-based belief system, of cloning that’s most important right now.

According to Raëlism and the Elohim, cloning is how we achieve eternal life; it can bring people back from the dead; it’s quite literally why we exist at all.

It’s no wonder they funded it – international outcry be damned. Its success was nothing less than the first step towards a new era of enlightenment.

Except… was it a success?

The twist: Did Eve even exist?

To hear Boisselier and the Raëlists tell it, the births of Eve and her four cloned comrades were a success story like no other.

For many politicians and religious leaders, it was the opposite: a morally questionable example of science going too far, too fast. But for many scientists, the truth was likely much simpler: Boisselier was bluffing.

“[Clonaid’s claims are] totally ridiculous,” MIT biologist and pioneer of transgenic science Rudolf Jaenisch told New Scientist back in 2003. “In the absence of any scientific evidence, I have to believe that it's not true […] They are extreme nuts.”

 

Why? Well, a bunch of reasons, to be honest. Some said Clonaid couldn’t possibly have the necessary expertise to clone humans; others pointed out how much more successful the company claimed to be with cloning than current technology was doing with bog-standard IVF.

“I believe Ms Boisselier has claimed five miscarriages, which [with five successful implantations] gives a 100 per cent implantation rate,” pointed out Harry Griffin, head of the UK Roslin Institute and part of the team who cloned Dolly the sheep in 1997, at the time to New Scientist.

“This is biologically possible,” he said, “but IVF clinics only manage an implantation rate of about 20 per cent and that's with healthy embryos and implanting two embryos per woman.”

 

But most damning of all was Clonaid’s reluctance to provide… well, literally any evidence at all for their claims. “Clonaid have no track record but claim to have cloned hundreds of embryos,” Griffin said. “It just doesn't ring true.”

“Nearly everything they have said in the past has never been confirmed by scientific investigation,” agreed Alan Trounson, an embryologist and stem cell scientist from Monash University, speaking to the Sydney Morning Herald, per New Scientist.

And Eve and her fellow clones were no exception: despite big claims about having the babies’ genetic identity independently confirmed, Clonaid never gave Michael Guillen, the science journalist they chose to oversee the testing, any evidence to be examined.

“I'm tearing my hair out in frustration. I stuck my neck out and they knew it,” Guillen later told USA Today. “All I want are some samples [from the baby] so we can find the truth.”

 

It’s now been more than two decades since Clonaid’s bombastic announcement, and since then neither genetic evidence nor cloned baby has ever been presented – although a website offering clone babies for six-figure sums was launched without delay.

The whole thing was, Guillen believed, “an elaborate hoax.” In that, he is apparently joined even by some Raëlists. “Internal Raëlian opinions range from agreeing it was a hoax to claiming there are clandestine cloned babies who will step forth some day,” Palmer and Sentes wrote.

“Another theory is that the purpose of the ‘Baby Eve announcement’ was to ‘raise the public's awareness so they will be ready for human cloning when it happens in the future.’”

 

But if that’s the case, the stunt might have been misjudged. In the wake of their announcement, anti-human cloning advocates were spurred into action:

What happened?

Obama said, “They are real, but I haven't seen them,” while he was on a podcast with left-leaning political commentator Brian Tyler Cohen.

The podcast was released on Saturday, and Obama, in a rapid-fire question-and-answer segment, was asked whether he believes extraterrestrials are real.

Obama told Cohen that the aliens were not being kept at Area 51. “There is no underground facility unless there's this enormous conspiracy and they hid it from the President of the United States.”

The clip went viral, and global media outlets picked up his comments, an apparent admission regarding the existence of aliens.

The claims added further fuel to a long-standing conspiracy theory that aliens were being held at a highly classified Air Force site in Nevada, popularly known as Area 51.

 

Obama walked back

Hours after the podcast was released, the 44th President of the United States took to Instagram to clarify that the viral clip did not capture his actual assessment of whether aliens exist, due to the speed of the questions posed to him.

“Statistically, the universe is so vast that the odds are good there's life out there,” he wrote in the Instagram post, “But the distances between solar systems are so great that the chances we've been visited by aliens are low.

And I saw no evidence during my presidency that extraterrestrials have made contact with us. Really!”

 

Belief not new

Given the long-standing conspiracy theory, there was an attempt to storm Area-51 in 2019, with 1.5 million people signing up to ambush the facility.

However, only about 150 social media influencers reached the site, and the event ended in a few arrests and a music festival.

Former Norway leader charged with corruption after probe into alleged Epstein ties, lawyers say

 

Norway’s former Prime Minister Thorbjørn Jagland has been charged with “aggravated corruption” after a police probe into his alleged ties to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, according to the law firm representing him.

 

Elden Law Firm confirmed to CNN on Thursday that Jagland is “charged with aggravated corruption,” adding that he “denies all charges.”
