Investigation Widens After Paris School System Found To Be ‘Infiltrated By Pedophile Networks’

 

Paris Mayor Emmanuel Gregoire has launched a special investigation into the city’s childcare system amid a growing scandal involving allegations of sexual abuse against children as young as three, French media has reported.

 

The move follows revelations of suspected pedophiles targeting young children in nurseries and daycare centers in the French capital.

 

He repeatedly apologized and acknowledged a “systemic risk” to children, and announced a €20 million ($23 million) emergency reform plan including staff training, surprise inspections and a ban on adults being left alone with children.

 

In one case, a three-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a school monitor at a school in the west of Paris.

 

RT reports: Former Paris mayor Anne Hidalgo tried to keep the complaints out of public view. Gregoire, who was elected in March, has pledged transparency, revealing last month that 78 after-school workers had been suspended in 2026, including 31 over suspected sexual misconduct.

 

The scandal has shocked France after reports that some victims were aged as young as three. The Telegraph, which interviewed parents of affected children, reported they were allegedly locked in rooms, sexually abused, and threatened with death if they spoke. Parents, activists, and unions say the crisis exposed systemic problems in childcare: chronic understaffing, precarious contracts, and poor vetting. They also accuse City Hall of transferring problematic workers instead of terminating them.

 

The move follows revelations about the scale of abuse in Paris schools: earlier this month, Paris prosecutor Laure Beccuau said he had launched investigations into suspected sexual violence at 84 nursery schools, 20 elementary schools, and ten daycare centers.

 

The announcement came the same day investigators from the Paris Juvenile Protection Brigade carried out a major operation linked to the scandal: 16 people working in after-school programs at a school in the 7th Arrondissement were detained during coordinated raids. Prosecutors said the suspects, aged 18 to 68, include kindergarten assistants, city education supervisors, and activity leaders employed by City Hall to supervise children before and after classes. Allegations range from rape and sexual assault to sexual exhibitionism and violent behavior.

 

The issue gained national attention in January when France 2’s Cash Investigation aired undercover footage showing verbal abuse and sexual misconduct in a Paris nursery, prompting suspensions of twelve work

 

According to Le Monde and Le Parisien, Gregoire has ordered the creation of a so-called “information and evaluation mission” (MIE) – a body similar to a parliamentary inquiry commission – which will have six months to conduct the probe on the allegations and report on their findings. The announcement came during a City Council session on Wednesday after opposition parties demanded a formal investigation into failures within the city-run extracurricular care network.

 

France has formally acknowledged a widespread child sexual abuse crisis through multiple state-backed inquiries. CIIVISE, the commission on incest and child sexual violence, estimated in 2024 that 5.4 million adults – about 10% of the population – had suffered sexual abuse as children, with roughly 160,000 minors victimized each year. Another report found around 330,000 children were abused within the French Catholic Church since 1950, involving some 3,000 alleged predator clergy. France also faced criticism for not introducing a fixed age of consent until 2021, when it was set at 15, and 18 for incest.

An Israeli national was arrested Tuesday in the Turkish-controlled part of northern cyprus on suspicion of involvement in illegal embryo trafficking, authorities said. Officials also raided a local clinic and arrested two Turkish citizens, the clinic's director and a local doctor.

The three suspects are accused of attempting to remove embryos from Turkish cyprus without the required permits. They were brought before a court, which extended their detention by one day to allow investigators to continue the probe, collect testimony and review security camera footage.

The Israeli was arrested at Ercan Airport in the Turkish-controlled part of the island while attempting to leave for Mexico via Istanbul. Authorities said he was carrying a specialized embryo transport container labeled "Life Parcel." Four embryos were found inside, stored in four separate test tubes.

A police representative told the court that the Israeli was arrested May 19 at 9:30 a.m. at a checkpoint known as "Gate 8," shortly before boarding his flight. Investigators say the embryos were taken from a fertility center in Lefko?a, the de facto capital of Turkish cyprus, known internationally as northern Nicosia, and that no official approval had been received from the local Health Ministry to remove them from the country.

People familiar with the case said the main suspicion involves violations of laws governing the transplantation of human cells, tissues and organs. Authorities are also investigating suspected illegal embryo trafficking and their transfer through different countries. According to one account, the shipment's destination was Mexico.

The investigation is also focusing on the suspected smuggling route. Ercan Airport in northern cyprus is not officially recognized by many countries, and most flights from it travel to Turkey, mainly Istanbul. Turkish cyprus is recognized as an independent state only by Turkey.

Nir Yaslovitzh, an attorney specializing in international criminal law, said cases involving medical regulation, IVF, transfer of genetic material and cross-border issues have increased significantly in recent years.

"This is a complex legal field that unfolds simultaneously before law enforcement authorities, health officials and various international mechanisms," Yaslovitzh said. "In many cases, the central legal question is not only what was done, but how the procedure was arranged with the authorities and what regulatory framework applied."

This morning we had the ragtag and bobtail remnants of the great U.S. press present at the weekly Saturday morning briefing. It was about 15 minutes long as there is nothing left to talk about.

At the termination of the briefing, we had the animated story of the 11th Panzer Division; that is, one officer recounted what the 11th Panzer Division did from the German sources, and another officer described what we did to counteract that Division, and also what information we had concerning them. There was remarkable unanimity; in fact, had we known as much about all other enemy units as we did about the famous so-called "Fire Brigade" or "Ghost Division" - two nicknames for the 11th Panzer - there would have been no pleasure in the war.

At the termination of this I permitted the newspaper correspondents to question me. I did this weekly during active operations and always had them on my side. Today there was very apparent hostility, not against me personally, but against the Army in general. The special gripe seems to be that we are backing the wrong horse in the choice of Governor, or President, of Bavaria. The temerity of the newspaper man in suggesting that he knew more about who we should have than I do, although I know nothing, made me mad, which is what I think they wanted.

There is a very apparent Semitic influence in the press. They are trying to do two thing; first, implement Communism and second, see that all businessmen of German ancestry and non-Jewish antecedents are thrown out of their jobs. They have utterly lost the Anglo-Saxon conception of justice and feel that a man can be kicked out because somebody else says he is a Nazi. They were evidently quite shocked when I told them I would kick nobody out without the successful proof of guilt before a court of law.

If people have time to read anything besides number of points which will get a soldier home, I will probably make the front page, but, frankly, do not give a damn.

The attitude of the American people as evinced by the press and

the radio is such I am inclined to think I made a great mistake in serving them for nearly forty years, although I had a very good time doing it.

Another point which the press harped on was the fact that we are doing too much for the Germans to the detriment of the DP's, 20000 of whom are Jews. I could not give the answer to that one because the answer is that, in my opinion and /that of most non-political officers, it is vitally necessary for us to build Germany up now as a buffer state against Russia; in fact, I am afraid we have waited too long. If we let Germany and the German people be completely disintegrated and starved, they will certainly fall for Communism, and the fall of Germany for Communism will write the epitaph of Democracy in the United States.

The more I see of people, the more I regret that I survived the war.
