First, we need to consider the location of the Three Gorges. It is in Hubei Province, and Hubei is surrounded by provinces no matter where it is located.

It is China's hinterland. There are several situations in which bombing missions can be carried out deep into China's hinterland: enemy infiltration, missiles, and aircraft.

The possibility of enemy infiltration had long been speculated on the Internet, but it was ruled out soon because it is impossible to shake the Three Gorges Dam with human power. Moreover, China has deployed important defense forces at the Three Gorges Dam, so the enemy will not have any chance.

Generally speaking, if airplanes and missiles can succeed, then wouldn't the air defense system that China has built over the years be in vain?

Second, even if the other side invests a huge amount of money to use quantitative bombing, the key is, what are they trying to achieve? Do they want to make the people suffer greatly? Do they want to cause China to suffer huge losses?

Newly disclosed text messages show Dr. Anthony Fauci privately entertained the possibility that the COVID-19 vaccine could trigger first-trimester miscarriages, months before he told the public there was no risk.

The messages come from a trove that Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) and Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) released, containing more than 34,000 texts and 522 voicemails the Senate Homeland Security Committee pulled from Fauci's government-issued phone. Among the trove is a January 2021 text chain between Fauci, Dr. Vivek Murthy and Dr. Rochelle Walensky, who went on to serve as the Biden administration's surgeon general and CDC director, in which the three officials worked through how the vaccine's risks might interact with pregnancy.

On Jan. 25, Murthy opened the thread with a question. "For pregnant women considering getting the vaccine, are you aware of any data or theoretical reason why vaccinating early vs late in pregnancy would be preferred? And any sense of when there will be more robust data on vaccine risk in pregnant women?"

Walensky noted that more than 15,000 pregnant women had already enrolled in the CDC's V-safe vaccine safety monitoring system. Fauci wrote there "are no data or theoretical reason to believe that vaccinating early versus later in pregnancy would be preferred." He also flagged a caveat that would later look prescient. "Yet, some people (even female health care professionals) feel concerned about injecting a 'genetic' vaccine very early in pregnancy," he wrote.

Nearly two hours passed before Fauci circled back with something he had not mentioned the first time. "I asked around a bit more and another issue came up that you need to be aware of," he wrote. "Since many people have significant cytokines storm and fever after the 2nd dose, this theoretically could be associated with miscarriage in the 1st trimester."

Rep. Randy Fine (R-FL) went on FOX Business on Monday morning to discuss the popular SAVE America Act that secures US elections.

The SAVE Act includes language on voter ID, which enjoys widespread support from the American public.95% of Republicans and 71% of Democrats are in favor of requiring a photo ID to vote in US elections. It’s common sense.

However, Democrat politicians don’t want photo ID, knowing it will take away from the fraudulent voter pool.

Neither does Majority Leader John Thune for some reason. It’s not clear who he represents at this point but it is certainly NOT the people of South Dakota.

Rep. Fine told FOX Business that there are two ways to get the SAVE America Act passed through the US Senate.

Rep. Randy Fine: I’ll give you two options. Number one, we put Save America in the reconciliation bill that we sent to the Senate. That would only take 50 votes. So there’s one way to get it done. And here’s another way.

We attached the Save America Act to something even more popular, the idea that members of Congress can’t insider trade. And when we did that, we not only got every Republican vote, we got a dozen Democratic votes in the House. It was the first time we’ve ever seen a Democrat vote for Save America.

So maybe that’s what they try in the Senate. Do ‘You Can’t Insider Trade plus Save America.’

There’s two paths to get the job done. The point is they just need to pick one and do whatever it takes to get it done. Okay.

The Ukrainian state has no political will to root out corruption, as powerful interests reap illegal benefits from the increasingly compromised system, including the massive defense sector, senior anti-graft officials have warned.

Ukraine’s anti-corruption agencies are facing growing resistance from powerful interests that benefit from entrenched graft within the government, according to senior investigators.

Efforts to obstruct the work of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) are being compounded by shortages of personnel and legal powers needed to pursue major cases effectively, the heads of the two Western-backed bodies said at a press conference on Monday.

“The state demonstrates that it has no political will to fight corruption properly,”SAPO Head Aleksandr Klimenko told journalists. He said graft remains a serious problem and is becoming more acute at the highest levels of government, which are the primary focus of NABU and SAPO investigations.

NABU Director Semyon Krivonos said corruption in the defense sector remains one of the agencies’ main priorities because it directly affects Ukraine’s military capabilities amid the conflict with Russia.

“Corruption is transforming to a certain degree now. Large arms suppliers can have powerful beneficiaries, including top-level law enforcement officials, members of parliament and people from other branches of the government leveraging secret agreements,” he said.

The two agencies were established under pressure from Kiev’s Western backers and were designed to operate with a significant degree of independence. In recent years, they have investigated several figures linked to Vladimir Zelensky’s inner circle, and the Ukrainian leader has unsuccessfully attempted to bring the institutions under his political control.

Graft entrenched in arms industry

The Ukrainian Defense Ministry has been hit by a series of corruption scandals in recent years. One of the latest high-profile controversies involved former Defense Minister Rustem Umerov. Leaked NABU surveillance recordings suggest that he had close links to businessman Timur Mindich.

Mindich, a longtime business associate of Zelensky, fled to Israel last November shortly before NABU and SAPO formally accused him of involvement in an alleged $100 million kickback scheme at a state-owned energy company. He has also been linked to Fire Point, a former film production company that later became a major Ukrainian drone manufacturer.

The ‘Mindich tapes’ indicate that Umerov helped ensure Fire Point received government contracts worth tens of millions of dollars. Earlier this month, the former defense minister was appointed to head Ukraine’s civilian foreign intelligence service.

Not enough detectives to tackle defense graft

According to Krivonos, companies linked to influential figures can receive no-bid contracts from the Defense Ministry, effectively removing competition. Proving corrupt arrangements of this kind in court, however, remains particularly difficult, he added.

“Can NABU and SAPO alone defeat corruption in the defense sector? No, we can’t. The defense funding is huge, a lot of procurement is taking place, and there is corruption risk everywhere,” Klimenko said.

He argued that the agencies do not have enough personnel to investigate every potential case and called on the Defense Ministry to establish stronger internal safeguards.

SBU accused of spying on anti-graft agencies

The anti-corruption chiefs also repeated allegationsthat their investigators have been subjected to surveillance by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), a powerful agency subordinate to Zelensky. Krivonos said the latest suspected case of unlawful monitoring was uncovered just two weeks ago.

NABU and SAPO believe the SBU has repeatedly operated beyond its proper mandate by targeting their detectives without sufficient grounds and seeking information about ongoing investigations.

“A lot of resources are being thrown at learning what we do and what we plan,”Krivonos said.

Klimenko said complaints about potentially illegal surveillance have gone unanswered, while officials allegedly responsible for these actions have in some cases received promotions.

The agency chiefs also accused parliament of delaying reforms they consider essential to their work.NABU and SAPO are seeking broader powers to investigate lawmakers, pursue the extradition of suspects from foreign countries, and cooperate more closely with overseas authorities on cross-border money-laundering schemes, which they said are frequently used by corrupt Ukrainian officials.

Bulgarian opposition leader Kostadin Kostadinov has called for Ukrainian Ambassador Olesya Ilashschuk to be expelled from the country, accusing her of interfering in domestic affairs and citing a series of security incidents involving Ukraine.

The Revival party leader said Sofia should declare Ilashschuk persona non grata after the Foreign Ministry announced it would summon her over a Ukrainian drone that crashed and exploded near a strategic gas pipeline over the weekend.

The UAV entered Bulgaria through Romanian airspace and detonated near the former Kardam border checkpoint, around one kilometer from a compressor station on the Trans-Balkan Pipeline. The Defense Ministry said the aircraft was likely a Maya decoy drone of a type used by Ukrainian forces, but noted there was no indication the incident was deliberate.

Kostadinov accused the authorities of downplaying the episode,arguing that the damage at the site was inconsistent with an unarmed reconnaissance drone.He described it as an “act of aggression” and questioned whether other Ukrainian drones had also entered Bulgarian airspace.

He also demanded that Ilashschuk be questioned over two former Ukrainian servicemen detained earlier this year on espionage charges. Revival claims the men had obtained sensitive information, including coordinates and technical details of compressor stations along the Balkan Stream gas pipeline.

Kostadinov also cited Bulgarian media reports about alleged diplomatic pressure by Ilashschuk over the case.

“She clearly does not contribute to good diplomatic relations between Ukraine and Bulgaria and there are sufficient grounds for her to be declared persona non grata,” he said.

The dispute comes as Sofia has been distancing itself from Kiev.Bulgaria’s new government halted weapons deliveries to Ukraine earlier this year and has called for negotiations to end the conflict with Russia.

The latest episode also follows several cases of Ukrainian drones straying into neighboring countries.In June, four Ukrainian naval drones exploded in and around the Romanian port of Constanta after Kiev said it had lost control of them.

How many moons does Saturn have? While the total will likely continue to grow, as of June 2026 the ringed gas giant had 293 confirmed moons. That's easily more than any other planet of the Solar System, including ruling gas giant Jupiter with a mere 115 confirmed moons. Most of Saturn's known moons are small, irregular satellites. Many are only few kilometers to a fraction of a kilometer across and grouped in tilted outer orbits. SAN FRANCISCO –In the late 1970s, thousands of homosexual and bisexual men came to San Francisco's public venereal diseases clinic to participate in a government-sponsored study of hepatitis B.

As they gave blood for the project, they had no way of knowing that a time bomb was ticking on a then-unknown disease far more threatening than anyone could have imagined and that the signs of the future epidemic AIDS lay hidden in the vials they filled.

By 1987, health authorities had learned at least 600 of the 6,700 participants had acquired immune deficiency syndrome. About 375 of them were dead from it. And a sample survey taken shows that about 70 percent of the participants tested positive for the AIDS antibody – indicating that they likely were carrying the virus.

For them, and for all of those involved in the study, the figures are tragic testimony to the speed and virulence of the epidemic some experts predict could become the worst in modern history.

In 1981, the hepatitis study produced a major victory: a hepatitis vaccine tested on the San Francisco group and in several other cities worked. But there was little chance to celebrate, as health officials began to worry about something far more ominous than hepatitis.

At a May 1981 meeting in San Diego, Paul M. O'Malley heard of a mysterious new illness, one which had caused homosexual men in California and New York to die of rare forms of pneumonia and cancer. Something was apparently attacking their immune systems. A few weeks later the first five cases were cautiously announced to the world in the CDC's Morbidity and Mortality Report.

O'Malley got involved when a man in the hepatitis study called and said he had come down with Kaposi's sarcoma, a skin cancer associated with what would come to be known as AIDS. His interest intensified when many of the first AIDS cases in San Francisco 11 of the first 24 in 1981 turned out to be participants in the hepatitis project.

Many of the hepatitis participants had filled out elaborate questionnaires about their lives, from sexual habits to drug use. In 1983, CDC and the city health department agreed to contact a sample of the participants and question them again to see if they could isolate special risk factors for AIDS.

By the spring of 1984, researchers at the Pasteur Institute in France and the National Cancer Institute had isolated the cause of AIDS, a new virus that knocked out key immune system cells. And CDC began using an experimental blood test to look for antibodies to the virus.

Using the test and samples of the frozen blood, the researchers tracked the footprints of the AIDS epidemic in the San Francisco men. They found that:Undetected, the virus had spread rapidly among this group of sexually active men. With the consent of the participants, CDC randomly tested stored blood samples and found about 3 percent of the gay men in the hepatitis study showed antibodies to the then-unknown AIDS virus in 1978, rising quickly to 12 percent in 1979, 20 percent in 1980 and 36 percent in 1981. By 1983, 62 percent were positive.

Although the rise has since slowed, preliminary results show that more than 70 percent of those tested in 1986 follow-up studies were positive on the AIDS antibody blood test. A positive antibody blood test generally signals long-term infection. Many people initially hoped that a positive AIDS antibody blood test meant past exposure to the AIDS virus but did not have serious long-term consequences. The government's oft-quoted projections that more than 1.5 million Americans may already be infected with the virus, in addition to over 29,000 reported AIDS cases nationally, is based in part on what has happened to these San Francisco men. In San Francisco, the gap is closing faster. In a selected sample of 66 infected men followed for an average of about six years, one-fourth have already developed AIDS and more than one-third have developed symptoms of illness that sometimes precedes AIDS. Only 25 men 38 percent remain free of symptoms, said Nancy Hessol, a statistical expert with the San Francisco study. There are exceptions. Four people who have been antibody-positive for at least nine years based on stored blood samples from January 1978 still have not come down with AIDS, O'Malley said.

Doug Franks, now a 34-year-old research associate for the San Francisco AIDS study, has been exposed to and presumably infected with the AIDS virus.

He said that in the late 1970s he had numerous sexual relationships with men and women, including a 1978 affair with San Francisco Supervisor Harvey Milk shortly before he was slain by a political foe. In 1979, Franks came to the city clinic for a checkup and became a participant in the hepatitis B study. In 1984, Franks heard of the new AIDS study and volunteered to be tested again.

Last year, he was hired by the health department and asked to work on the AIDS project, conducting interviews with study volunteers. He also decided to learn his own AIDS test results.

Over the last three years, about 2,000 men who participated in the original hepatitis study have been contacted and 1,200 of them have been included in the new AIDS study. Now the San Francisco AIDS project is starting an expanded nationwide effort to find the remaining 4,700 men who participated in the original study and confidentially ask for their help in hopes of finding more clues about why some people get AIDS and others don't.

Negotiations are under way with a drug company to offer some men in the study a chance to participate in a new study of the anti-AIDS drug AZT and its effect on those who have been infected with the AIDS virus but shown no symptoms of illness. Those who have received the highly publicized drug thus far have largely been AIDS patients.

The San Francisco researchers are sensitive to the need to offer the AIDS study participants whatever help should become available, rather than simply follow the men over time.

"We don't want to be accused of being the Tuskegee of AIDS," said Dr. George W. Rutherford, medical director of the San Francisco health department's AIDS office. The Tuskegee Institute study was a controversial federally funded study of untreated syphilis, begun in 1932, in which the effects of the disease in black men in rural Tuskegee, Ala., were followed for 40 years, even after penicillin treatment became available.
