Dr. Abdul El-Sayed, now a top contender to be the Democratic Party nominee for the U.S. Senate in Michigan, spent the first few months of the COVID-19 pandemic praising lockdowns and stay-at-home orders while berating Americans for going to parks and beaches. Yet, he soon joined a chorus of public health experts in defending the massive and unregulated Black Lives Matter protests — with the argument that “racism is a public health crisis too.”

 

El-Sayed spent months in the spring of 2020 criticizing Republicans and conservatives who were protesting against government-directed coronavirus restrictions and blaming these protesters (as well as other people who went outside and gathered unmasked in crowds) for spreading the virus and getting people killed. But he soon became a leading voice in defending the BLM demonstrations nationwide starting in late May 2020, claiming that defeating racism was a public health issue similar to coronavirus and that mass protests were justified and necessary.

 

El-Sayed — then a former Detroit city government health official, and a Columbia medical school graduate due to the largess of a Soros Fellowship, and now a possible frontrunner to be the next U.S. senator from the state of Michigan — leaned heavily on his health credentials in 2020 as he promoted his views on his “America Dissected” podcast, spoke in multiple interviews, and fired off dozens of tweets which have since been deleted but which were reviewed by Just the News through web archives.

Sam Alito is Locked and Loaded . . . and He is Not Going Anywhere

Below is my column in The Hill on the announcement from Justice SamuelAlito that he is sticking around. Even a cursory review of the docket explains why Alito is not eager to depart despite the wishful thinking of folks at National Public Radio.Here is the column:

 

Justice Samuel Alito is not done yet.

 

A month after National Public Radio’s Nina Totenberg announced that Sam Alito was retiring (a story NPR later had to retract),the 76-year-old jurist told the Wall Street Journal in an interview, “Obviously, I’m here for another term.”

 

Looking at the docket for the coming term, it is easy to see why. Even after overturning Roe v. Wade and other historic opinions,Alito still has unfinished business. An example can be found in two cases involving bans on semiautomatic rifleslike the AR-15 that are now awaiting argument in the October term.

 

Many of us have been frustrated by the Court’s failure to address these laws barring AR-15s and other weapons. Just last year, the Supreme Court declined review of such a Maryland law.Alito and Justices Clarence Thomas and Neil Gorsuch indicated that they wanted to hear the case, falling just one vote short of granting certiorari.

 

Notably,the required fourth vote could have come from Justice Brett Kavanaugh, who called the Fourth Circuit’s ruling in Snopes v. Brown “questionable” and added that the Court “should and presumably will address the AR-15 issue soon, in the next Term or two.”

 

Now, it will.

 

Democrats are moving in various states to ban the nation’s most popular rifle (the AR-15) and its most popular handgun (the semiautomatic 9mm). Some of us view these laws as presumptively unconstitutional.

 

In 2008, the court declared in its opinion inHeller that gun ownership is an individual right. The court emphasized how these weapons were in common use and not the type of dangerous or unusual weapon that would fall outside of the Second Amendment. Handguns, the opinion reads, “are the most popular weapon chosen by Americans for self-defense in the home, and a complete prohibition of their use is invalid.”

 

In 2022, the Court held in the Bruen case that the government bears the burden of demonstrating thatany restriction upon the right to keep and bear arms “is consistent with this Nation’s historical tradition of firearm regulation.”

 

The banson Glock handguns and semiautomatic riflesare efforts to achieve indirectly what the Supreme Court barred directly. In Virginia, Gov. AbigailSpanberger (D) immediately moved against gun rights after her election.Ironically, her election not only spurred a massive surge in gun purchases, but she then supplied the lead line of briefs challenging the law.

 

Spanberger admitted that the state law she signed would ban commonly used hunting guns.

 

In what is known as the court’s “clean-up conference,” the justices granted review in Illinois and Connecticut cases challenging bans on semiautomatic rifles.

In Viramontes v. Cook County, the Seventh Circuitrelied on an earlier ruling that gun owners had failed to show “that the covered firearms materially differed from machine guns and military-grade weaponry, which the Supreme Court instructed can be banned under the Second Amendment.”

 

In Grant v. Higgins, the Second Circuit upheld a similar ban after agreeing with the state that the law imposes “a burden comparable to historical antecedents that regulated other unusually dangerous weapons unsuitable for and disproportionate to the objective of individual self-defense.”

 

Notably, in the Illinois case, Cook County argued that these are not just unusually dangerous weapons, but that thechallengers cannot offer “even a single instance in which assault weapons were ever used in lawful self-defense.”

 

That is a highly dubious claim. Since 1990, there have been an estimated 32,091,000 Modern Sporting Rifles in circulation. These are semiautomatic models, which means they fire a single bullet and then automatically load another cartridge into the chamber. The AR-15 is the most popular model, and there are estimates that it has as many as 25 million owners.

 

The popularity ofthe AR-15 is due to the fact that it is modular, with some models allowing one to swap out barrels, bolts and high-capacity magazines, or add a variety of accessories. It is also not the most powerful gun; many guns have equal or greater calibers.

 

There is roughly the same number of Glock pistols in circulation. That means perhaps 40 million Americans currently possess weaponsthat Democrats are trying to ban as unusually dangerous and completely unprotected.

 

With the granting of these cases, Virginia’s ban on new sales of the AR-15 rifle and otherguns will have to await the final decisions.

 

These gun bans are not the only cases involving politically popular, legally dubious legislation. The first case to be argued will be Suncor Energy v. Commissioners of Boulder County, a challenge to state laws imposing damages on fossil fuel companies for climate change.

 

With a docket like that, one can see why Alito is not going anywhere.

Florida Seeks NY Times Internal Documents Over Errors In Israel-Hamas War Coverage

 

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier sought to inspect records from The New York Times on Aug. 10, claiming the newspaper's pattern of admitted mistakes covering the Israel-Hamas war threatens the state's pension fund.

 

Uthmeier, representing the pension fund and the thousands of shares it holds in company, sent a 28-page letter to The New York Times seeking to scrutinize six years' worth of internal records, board documents, and meeting minutes, dating back to January 2020, and asking the company to prove it was operating smoothly.

 

"The Times tells investors that its brand and reputation are its most important assets and that if people see its journalism as unreliable or biased, the company can be hurt," Uthmeier said in a video on X. "We want to exercise our rights under New York law to review the company's internal board documents, meeting minutes, reports, and other materials, to see what the directors know.

 

"The First Amendment protects what a newspaper publishes, but it does not let a public company's board ignore its shareholders," Uthmeier continued.

 

Uthmeier is a trustee and legal counsel for Florida's State Board of Administration, which oversees the pension fund and its 160,000 shares of stock in The New York Times.

 

The paper has two weeks to respond or Uthmeier said he would sue them in the New York Supreme Court.

 

"Shareholders have tools to ensure the Board prevents The Times from becoming a newspaper the public comes to regard as untrustworthy," Uthmeier wrote in the letter.

 

A downturn in revenue forced the news company to consolidate its editorial staff in 2017 to shift the balance of the newsroom to give them more on-the-ground reporters.

 

The changes included eliminating an independent editor position, or ombudsman, which received reader complaints and questioned New York Times journalists on how they made decisions.

 

"Since the New York Times got rid of its independent public editor, it has several times now admitted, only after outside pressure, that published articles did not meet its standards," Uthmeier said. "According to reports, between Oct. 7, 2023 and June 2024, The Times admitted 72 errors in its coverage of the Israel-Hamas war that had to be corrected. Many, if not most, of those errors favored Hamas."

 

The New York Times received the letter Monday and views it as an intimidation tactic, according to a spokesperson.

 

"We are aware of the demand letter, which, while positioned as a request under corporate law, is a clear attempt to chill First Amendment-protected journalism. We will respond more fully in due course," Danielle Rhoades Ha, spokesperson for The New York Times, told The Epoch Times.

President Donald Trump is leaving the door open to declaring a national security emergency over the 2026 midterm elections, stating Monday that "stranger things have happened."

 

Conservative commentator and Real America's Voice host Wayne Allyn Root made the suggestion in an interview, noting that it could be done if the Senate fails to pass the SAVE America Act when it returns from its recess next month.

 

The host commented that if the president does declare a national security emergency and federalize the elections, then he would get everything he wanted without needing the Senate's assistance.

 

“Let me just say that stranger things have happened, okay? I’ll leave it at that," Trump told the host abruptly.

 

The Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act is a nationwide voter ID bill that has strong support from the Trump-aligned conservative voter base. It requires people to present proof of citizenship to register to vote and requires Americans to show ID when voting.

 

If the president does try to declare a national security emergency and take over the midterms, he could still be blocked by Congress through a joint resolution, according to The Hill. That joint resolution would likely require veto-proof two-thirds majorities in both chambers, according to the outlet.

The Praxian Genocidal Kill Chain — Part 3

 

The Praxians—a new breed of tech billionaires—form the core of the Silicon Valley-rooted wing of the global oligarchy. The Praxians are a subset of the network of tech moguls who are embedded within and encircle the Trump administration. The Praxians are distinguished by their close affiliation with the ideas of the Neoreactionary movement (NRx) and by their enthusiasm for building their own private city-states.

 

Some Praxians, such as Marc Andreessen, openly declare their adherence to NRx principles. Others, such as Mark Zuckerberg, extol NRx ideology through their corporate sloganeering. And still others, such as Peter Thiel, continuously fund specific NRx projects, such as Praxis in Greenland (see Part 1).

 

Ironically, there are aspects of the technology that the Praxians are encouraging us to adopt for their own ends that we could instead repurpose to finally free ourselves from their hierarchical authoritarianism. We could flip the features of programmable digital currency, such as central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) or stablecoins, and turn them from the ideal tool for centralised control into the means by which we achieve monetary and economic emancipation. And we could use some facets of the network state—the Praxians’ own technology-based nation-building strategy—to construct new models of sovereign decentralised sociopolitical structures.

 

In my book, The Technocratic Dark State, I wrote:

 

Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT), such as blockchain, could be used to liberate instead of enslave us. Artificial intelligence (AI) could be used to improve our lives, not diminish them. Digital currencies, decentralized finance (DeFi), and financial technology (Fintech) could free up investment and lead to an explosion of economic, scientific, technological, and social innovation that benefits humanity, not just the oligarchy. [. . .] We could build homes, towns, and even cities that maximize our individual sovereignty and independence from authoritarian control.

 

It is a choice. It is our choice. Humanity, not oligarchy, is the dominant force on this planet. But if we don’t get on with building the world we want, and if the oligarchs succeed in imposing the world they want, future generations will face a long and arduous struggle to once again free humanity from slavery.

 

Praxian Libertopia Is Not Libertarian

There is no need to doubt what the Praxians and their oligarch partners want to construct. The NRx’s oligarch backers, like Peter Thiel, have been transparent—at least in part—about what they are trying to achieve.

 

Speaking in 2010 at the Libertopia anarcho-capitalist conference, Thiel explained why he co-founded PayPal and why the Thiel Foundation bankrolled the Seasteading Institute:

 

The initial founding vision was that we were going to use technology to change the whole world and basically overturn the monetary system of the world. [. . .] We could never win an election [. . .], but maybe you could unilaterally change the world without having to constantly convince people and beg people and plead with people, who are never going to agree with you, through technological means. [. . .] This is where I think technology is this incredible alternative to politics.

 

This kind of rhetoric resonates well with libertarians, who are opposed to the imposition of centralised authority by governments. When, in 2008, Thiel seed-funded the “startup” called the Seasteading Institute, the media widely reported it as a libertarian project. Such media reports, which paint the Praxians as libertarians or anarcho-capitalists, are commonplace. Framing Praxians as libertarians serves as propaganda to entice genuine libertarians to make a massive error of judgement and get on board with Praxian city-state projects.

Even at $4.00, food prices should not be that high. You know it is all BS, because if a regular box truck does a delivery, and gas is a $1 more a gallon, in reality if it $4.00 a gallon, and a gallon will take that truck 25 miles. Why is it take that same coffee that went for $6 and the Cream Cheese that went for $6 is now $11 and $10 respectively? Those two items now cost $4 to $5 more, and just those two items would cover the extra gas on the truck those 25 miles. But the truck can hold a few hundred of items, and if they all go up, it is price gouging. No one does the math, just like on 911, and that is always our problem.

Moscow has released ex-US Marine Robert Gilman, who had been incarcerated in Russia since 2022, US President Donald Trump has confirmed. The move was made “very much on a humanitarian basis,” Trump said, adding that Moscow did not ask for anyone in return.

 

The impending release of Gilman was first reported earlier on Tuesday by US media. Russian presidential envoy Kirill Dmitriev, a key figure in negotiations with Washington, apparently confirmed the reports by reposting a piece by Reuters on social media.

 

“After my discussions with President Vladimir Putin, Russia has agreed to release him, very much on a humanitarian basis. We appreciate this decision, and the fact that Russia asked for no one in return – No exchange took place,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social.

 

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio also commented on the release of Gilman, expressing his gratitude to Russia in a post on X for “allowing him to receive the necessary medical treatment here in the United States.”

 

Gilman has already been flown out of Russia on a State Department plane after reportedly being granted a presidential pardon over his deteriorating mental health.

 

The 32-year-old US national was detained in Russia in early 2022 after drunkenly assaulting a police officer while traveling through the country by train. Gilman, who served with the Marine Corps for a year between 2019 and 2020, is the son of a Russian immigrant to the US.

 

Gilman was initially sentenced to 4.5 years for the assault, with the term reduced to 3.5 years by a higher court. However, the US national reportedly grew increasingly violent while in a penal colony, and was handed an additional seven years of incarceration in 2024 over repeated assaults on jail officials. Last month, Gilman was transferred from the colony to a civilian psychiatric ward reportedly in a catatonic-like state described as a “dissociative stupor.”

 

Gilman is now slated to be transferred to a hospital in Texas for medical evaluation and treatment, AP reported, citing sources.

 

The US is said to have sought Gilman’s release for some time, with the issue raised during a recent meeting between Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

Problem seems to be that if this happens in an uncontrolled way, it's probably not a good thing.

When you look at all the head of these U.S. organizations, many are more and more Indian sub-continent. Strange huh, when we're told the enemy is someone else all of the time. I've broke my foot before too. The right one. It's not fun. The 5th metatarsal, the bone on the outside edge of the foot. Did it by jumping off a flatbed trailer on the 30 ton picker I was swamping on. Hurt like hell when it happened, was yelling "fuck fuck fuck!" with my face in the dirt and slamming my foot on the ground. Then I noticed two sets of boots by my head, the picker operator and the lease manager. There was a job to finish, so I sucked it up, and said I was fine so we finished up on the rig, made it back to town, I was crawling all over pipe racks and whatnot setting the pipe that was coming off the trailer. When that work boot came off the first time though… Was completely living at a camp in the oilfield at that time and I didn't want to lose my job so I went without a cast and just decided to tough it out. It was fine in a work boot, that functioned well enough like a cast. Wearing running shoes though and any little rock or bump in the ground and I'd drop instantly like a sack of potatoes to the ground. They put me on light duty for a week, and after that I had no problem doing what I was supposed to. Happened in 2002.

The far-left media watchdog Media Matters for America (MMFA) is laying off around a dozen staff as the organization faces a series of federal probes and defamation lawsuits.

Staffers took to the X platform on Thursday to confirm they had been let go, with one seemingly blaming Musk for her dismissal.

In April 2025, CEO Alex Karp dismissed accusations that Palantir’s technology had been used to target and kill Palestinians in Gaza, saying those killed were “mostly terrorists”.

 

The UN Special Rapporteur on the Occupied Palestinian Territories, Francesca Albanese, has said there are “reasonable grounds” to believe Palantir has “provided automatic predictive policing technology, core defence infrastructure for rapid and scaled-up construction and deployment of military software, and its Artificial Intelligence Platform, which allows real-time battlefield data integration for automated decision-making”.

 

In the United States, Palantir has long worked with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). An investigation by 404 Media revealed that the company was developing a tool that generates detailed dossiers on potential deportation targets, maps their locations and assigns “confidence scores” to their likely whereabouts.

 

The company has also attracted attention in Australia for its work with private sector clients, including Coles, where they were hired to cut costs and “optimise” the company’s workforce.

 

“We kill enemies”

Karp has been blunt about Palantir’s mission. Speaking to shareholders and investors last week, he described the company’s purpose as helping the West “scare enemies” and, “on occasion, kill them”.

 

Karp also joked about “getting a drone and having light fentanyl-laced urine spraying on analysts that tried to screw us”.

 

Millions in government contracts

Despite the controversy, Palantir has quietly built a substantial footprint in Australia. According to Austender data, the company has secured more than $50m in Australian government contracts since 2013, largely across defence and national security-related agencies.

 

The 2024 financial report of its Australian subsidiary, Palantir Technologies Australia Pty Ltd, show $25.5m in revenue from customer contracts in 2024, though the company’s local financial reports are not audited.

 

In 2020, Palantir recommended that the Australian government consider “expanding the exemption from public access to disclosure documents”, arguing that filing financial reports with ASIC “is expensive” and “gives competitors access to confidential information”.

Citing a "radical shift of strategic direction," OSF says that their new operating model will require "significant further restructuring," and "closing all regional and global programs," according to a letter sent to grantees in Hungary which was seen by Bloomberg.

 

"Ultimately, the new approved strategic direction provides for withdrawal and termination of large parts of our current work within the European Union, shifting our focus and allocation of resources to other parts of the world," reads the message, which cites another note sent to staff at OSF's Berlin headquarters.

 

"OSF will largely terminate funding within the European Union, and further funding will be extremely limited," it reads, without elaborating, except to say that the organization is pivoting because "EU institutions and governments were already allocating significant resources to human rights, freedom and pluralism" inside the bloc.

 

And of course, Bloomberg sings OSF's praises:

 

In the EU, OSF financed a wide range of philanthropic programs in the bloc’s eastern former communist members, including Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, Romania, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria and elsewhere. They included initiatives aimed at strengthening democracy, promoting human rights and alleviating the poverty and discrimination faced by the Roma minority.

 

It also funds projects in non-EU European countries such as in the Balkans and further afield in central Asia.

 

The organization based its European headquarters in Budapest until 2018, when it moved to Berlin following a years-long campaign against Soros and the OSF’s liberal values by nationalist Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s government in Hungary. The EU is pumping €90 billion ($105 billion) into Ukraine without knowing how the burden of the interest-free loan will be distributed among member states, German MEP Fabio De Masi told the Berliner Zeitung, warning that the money will enrich “corrupt oligarchs” in Ukraine.

 

Member states gave the green light to the scheme in April, with Hungary, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia securing exemptions.

 

On Monday, German MEP Fabio De Masi, who co-chairs the Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance party, told the Berliner Zeitung that the “European Commission apparently doesn’t even know the extent to which EU member states will have to guarantee the Ukraine loan.”

 

He cited the commission’s response to his inquiry, which said that a “breakdown [of the financial burden] by member state” could not be provided.

 

De Masi said the funds, which are being backed by joint EU borrowing on the capital market, would end up enriching “corrupt oligarchs” in Ukraine.

 

“One wonders how the German government and parliament could have waved through this bottomless pit of debt without a thorough assessment of the consequences,” he added, as quoted by the daily.

 

Since the escalation of the Ukraine conflict in 2022, the EU has given more than €216 billion to Kiev. Germany has spent over €43.3 billion, while earmarking an additional €57.6 billion in military aid for the coming years, thus emerging as Ukraine’s top backer within the bloc.

 

In late June, the European Commission began disbursing the first €3.2 billion tranche as part of the scheme, under which Ukraine is due to receive €30 billion in budgetary aid and €60 billion for its military needs in 2026 and 2027. The installment was soon followed by another 3.9 billion earmarked for drone procurement.

 

European Council head Antonio Costa previously said Ukraine would only need to pay back the money after it receives reparations from Russia following the conclusion of the conflict. Moscow has dismissed the notion as “detached from reality.”

 

Commenting on the EU loan scheme, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov accused the bloc of “digging into the pockets of its own taxpayers” to prolong the conflict.

 

In an article for Politico Europe in June which the Brussels-based media outlet eventually rejected, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov argued that EU leaders view the Kiev regime as a battering ram against Russia, with no regard for the lives of ordinary Ukrainians.
