Thiel will receive the ‘2026 Axel Springer Award’ at a ceremony in Berlin on Thursday. According to Axel Springer CEO Mathias Dopfner, Thiel “is one of the rare entrepreneurs who does not merely found or finance companies but helps determine the direction of technological development.”

 

“He reminds us that progress requires courage and nonconformism,” Dopfner added.

 

Previous recipients of the Axel Springer Award include Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, and Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky. None of these laureates have proven as controversial as Thiel, however.

 

According to Status News, employees at Politico and Business Insider – both of which are owned by Axel Springer – have pushed back against the decision. In a letter to management on Tuesday, 120 staffers argued that Thiel, who funded the lawsuit that destroyed Gawker, should not be honored by a company which, in the words of Dopfner, “stands for freedom of speech and a culture of open discussions.”

A former New York Times employee accused the paper of having a systemic “anti-Israel bias” which infects its reporting and produces “biased and unreliable” stories that misinform its readers, according to a new lawsuit.

 

The whistleblower — who worked on the paper’s video desk from 2016 until earlier this year — is a Jewish woman who asked to remain anonymous. She pointed to at least 15 examples where the paper’s alleged bias against Israel sabotaged its work, both before and after the Hamas terrorist attack in October 2023. She also said the paper’s HR department was hostile when she pointed out its coverage was inappropriately slanted.

 

“Highlighting the deep inversion of journalistic controls within The New York Times operations, the response to the Whistleblower from the Human Resources department about the reporting of many instances of anti-Israel bias by fellow journalists was stark: ‘If you don’t like our values here, maybe you should go find a place whose values align with yours,'” the lawsuit claimed.

 

The lawsuit was filed on Wednesday by the State Board of Administration of Florida on behalf of Florida’s retirement system and the National Center for Public Policy Research in the New York state court system; The Free Press was the first outlet to report it.

 

The shareholders cite “biased or unreliable reporting,” inadequate “internal editorial controls,” and violations of employee conduct codes alleged by the whistleblower, and claim this led to “repeated publication of materially false or baseless factual assertions,” in the Times that has hurt the stock value of the paper’s parent company, The New York Times Company. Specifically, the complaint alleges multiple examples of what it describes as warped coverage of Israel and the war with Hamas.

 

“This lawsuit has no merit and was brought for an improper purpose,” a Times spokesperson told Mediaite. “Although it is positioned as a corporate governance petition to inspect the company’s books and records, it is a transparent attempt to exert agenda-driven pressure against an independent media organization, level false allegations of bias and chill journalism protected by the First Amendment. We will defend against the suit vigorously.”

 

One of top examples mentioned in the lawsuit: a photograph which ran on the paper’s front page in July 2025,showing an emaciated Gaza child which the paper said was “born healthy but was recently diagnosed with severe malnutrition” in its caption — suggesting the kid was starving due to the war.But the child had a preexisting health problem, which the paper didn’t mention until it added an editor’s note four days after it was published.

 

The lawsuit pointed to several other examples of botched coverage. Some of those are included verbatim from the lawsuit below:

 

The October 17, 2023 lead headline falsely attributing the Al-Ahli Hospital explosion to an Israeli airstrike contained, by the study’s count, five errors; the Company’s first correction addressed only a mischaracterized video, and the editors’ note conceding that early coverage “relied too heavily on claims by Hamas” and “left readers with an incorrect impression about what was known and how credible the account was” came six days after the fact, after the President and U.S. intelligence publicly attributed the blast to a Palestinian rocket.

 

A November 25, 2023 claim that the rate of civilian killing in Gaza was nearly unprecedented in this century was resolved, per the study, by “erasing the paragraph” from the website “without disclosing the error or the correction.”

The whistleblower added the paper’s bias against Israel created a hostile work environment for pro-Israel Jewish employees. She said she was asked to delete Slack messages showing support for Jewish colleagues, which reinforced the paper’s “double standard on Jewish issues.”

 

“Yet the staffers who engaged in public advocacy on the war in favor of Palestine, which she reported through the same channels, received, so far as she is aware, no such request to edit or delete their support,” the lawsuit said. “Her desk supervisor told her that ‘it’s not your job to be the ombudsman of the New York Times,’ a position eliminated by the Company in 2017 that was never replaced. She was told that colleagues were ‘reluctant to work with’ her, and she told Human Resources, on tape, that her desk head had instructed her not to escalate concerns about bias beyond her.”

 

The complaint cites provisions of New York’s Business Corporation Law the plaintiffs argue gives them the right to inspect the Company’s internal books and records. They are seeking an order from the court allowing them the right to access and copy these records. The BCL also allows costs and attorneys’ fees if the plaintiffs can show their access to the records was refused in bad faith, which they argue it was in this case.

A Ukrainian drone strike has damaged a radiation monitoring post near the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant, the facility said on Tuesday.

 

The station was located near the village of Ivanovka, around 13 km from the nuclear plant, and formed part of the system used to track radiation levels in the surrounding area. Such posts regularly collect data on background radiation, allowing specialists to detect changes and respond quickly if conditions deteriorate.

 

The plant said the remaining monitoring equipment and capacity were sufficient to continue observing radiation levels, but noted that the loss of the station has reduced the amount of data that could be quickly gathered from that particular area.

 

In the event of an emergency, the loss could become significant as specialists would need reliable readings from multiple locations to determine the nature and scale of any changes in radiation levels.

 

At the same time, the facility stressed that losing one post did not mean radiation monitoring had stopped and did not itself indicate any radiation threat.

 

Nevertheless, it warned that further attacks on radiation monitoring infrastructure could reduce specialists’ ability to obtain information quickly and comprehensively in the event of an emergency.

 

Tuesday’s strike follows a series of attacks on and around the ZNPP that Moscow has blamed on Ukraine.Earlier this month, the Russian nuclear corporation Rosatom said Ukrainian strikes hit tankers delivering emergency diesel fuel to the plant, killing two Russian servicemen and wounding several others. The fuel is used to power the backup generators needed for critical safety systems if the facility loses its external electricity supply.

 

In July, a drone strike on a service vehicle near the plant’s industrial site also killed ZNPP chief engineer Aleksandr Yakovlev and his driver. Rosatom has accused Ukrainian forces of using drones to scatter anti-personnel mines on roads used by plant employees and residents of nearby Energodar.

 

Russia has repeatedly warned that continued attacks around the facility risk triggering a nuclear emergency with consequences extending beyond the immediate area.

 

Moscow has also criticized the International Atomic Energy Agency, which maintains a presence at the plant,for reporting explosions, drones and other military activity around the ZNPP without publicly identifying Ukraine as responsible.

Mexican drug cartels are increasingly relying ondrone operators who have returned home after taking part in the Ukraine conflict, the Washington Post has reported, citing US and Mexican officials.

 

Russia has warned repeatedly that the Ukraine conflict is fueling global instability as it leads to proliferation of weapons supplied by the West to Vladimir Zelensky’s government on the black market andfosters reckless behavior by Kiev in pursuit of its war aims.

 

The WaPo reported on Tuesday that Mexican cartels are closely studying ways to evade anti-drone jamming systems and are purchasing advanced UAV models that can carry more cargo and explosives.

 

In order to operate their expanding drone fleet,drug traffickers have intensified efforts to hire individuals with Ukraine conflict battlefield experience, mainly Colombian nationals, using both financial incentives and coercion, a US official told the paper.

 

A Mexican official also said that Colombian UAV experts are being brought to Mexico by criminal organizations to train large groups of local “droneros,” or drone pilots.

 

Colombians make up around half of the estimated 16,500 foreign mercenaries currently fighting for Ukraine, a security source told TASS in June. They are being lured into the ranks of Kiev’s forces with false promises of high pay, he said. The Latin Americans end up being treated with disdain by their Ukrainian commanders, fed poorly, and deployed on the most dangerous missions, the source added.

 

The cartels are also sending their own “affiliates” to join the Ukrainian military and gain battlefield experience of flying drones, a US official said.

 

Drug traffickers “are going to be way better off, way better trained, with way better equipment,” the official warned.

 

Washington expects cartels to implement drone skills and tactics borrowed from the Ukraine conflict within the next several months, according to the sources.

 

An internal government assessment suggests that the development will “significantly complicate” the campaign by the administration of US President Donald Trump to curb the flow of illegal drugs into the country, an American official noted.

 

The US State Department said in a statement to the WaPo that it’s working with American law enforcement agencies and the Ukrainian authorities “to adopt measures to mitigate the risk of battlefield skills transfer,” and that Washington itself relies on experience from the Ukraine conflict to “counter the cartel drone threat.”

 

Last year, the Milenio newspaper cited Mexican intelligence as saying that members of theJalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) had received training in drone and urban warfare tactics in Ukraine.

Less than two weeks after the Supreme Court paused a ruling by a federal judge in Missouri that would have cleared the way for the state to use a new congressional map intended to give Republicans an additional seat in the U.S. House of Representatives in the November 2026 elections,the opponents of that map once again asked the justices to intervene in the dispute over the state’s congressional districts. On Tuesday night, challengers to the new map asked the justices to block a decision by a federal appeals court in St. Louis that instructed the state to use it in the November elections. Lawyer Abha Khanna, who represents the challengers, told the court that its orders “are not invitations for a lower court to repackage the same relief and try again.”

 

Justice Brett Kavanaugh, who initially handles emergency appeals from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit, directed the state and the supporters of the new map to respond by 2 p.m. EDT on Wednesday.

 

The challengers’ 39-page filing was the latest chapter in a labyrinthine saga that has already been to the U.S. Supreme Court twice, from two separate – state and federal – court systems. The dispute began last year, when – with President Donald Trump’s encouragement – Missouri adopted a new map. In December, opponents of the state’s new map – including the group People Not Politicians and its executive director, Richard von Glahn – submitted more than 300,000 signatures in support of a petition to put the new map up for a vote in November 2026. Missouri’s top election official, Secretary of State Denny Hoskins, rejected the petition on Aug. 4, 2026 – the last day to do so – and Missouri conducted its August primary with the new map.

 

Von Glahn went immediately to state court,asking it to reverse Hoskins’ decision and block Missouri from using the new map. On Sept. 3, the Missouri Supreme Court unanimously granted that request. It concluded that, under the state’s constitution, the referendum petition “was legal, sufficient, and timely.” As a result, it wrote, the new map never went into effect and will not do so “unless and until approved by the voters at the November 2026 general election.”

 

The Missouri Supreme Court rejected as “wholly unpersuasive” Hoskins’ argument that the failure to use the new map would lead to “confusion, expense, and practical difficulties.” “[T]hese arguments are particularly misplaced” when Hoskins failed to act on the petition until August, leading to the problems, the court suggested.

 

Hoskins went to the Supreme Court on Sept. 4, asking the justices to intervene. Kavanaugh denied that request four days later without referring it to the full court.

 

While Hoskins was seeking relief from the Missouri Supreme Court’s ruling in the U.S. Supreme Court, Rep. Robert Onder, a Republican who won the Republican nomination for the state’s 3rd congressional district in the August 2026 primary,as well as another congressional candidate and two individual voters, went to federal court, seeking to reinstate the 2025 map.Onder and the other candidate – Richard Brattin, who won the Republican nomination for the state’s 5th congressional district in August – contended that if the November elections go forward using the 2022 map, their districts would be significantly different from the districts in which they won the nominations in August.The individual voters contended that they would vote in a different district in November under the 2022 map than they had in August.

 

Shortly after Kavanaugh’s order denying Hoskins’ request was released, Chief U.S. District Judge Stephen Clark issued a temporary restraining order that directed the state to use the 2025 map.Clark acknowledged that “[c]onducting state elections in accordance with the Missouri Constitution undoubtedly qualifies as an important interest.” But, he concluded, the challengers in the federal case “face irreparable harm” without a temporary restraining order “because many Missouri voters would have to cast their general-election votes for candidates whom they had no role in nominating.”

After the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit declined to pause Clark’s order, von Glahn and People Not Politicians asked the justices to step in. They told the court that Clark’s order “requires Missouri to conduct its congressional election using a map that, under the authoritative decision of Missouri’s highest court, ‘is not the law and has never been the law.’”Moreover, they added, election officials in Missouri had indicated that the election in November could be conducted using the 2022 map.

 

Hoskins urged the justices to leave Clark’s order in place,telling them that putting it on hold “would change Missouri’s congressional map for a third time in a week—and … would come after the state-law deadline to alter ballots and just nine days before the federal-law deadline to send out military and overseas ballots.”Indeed, he noted, “county election officials have already started printing ballots in compliance with” Clark’s order.

 

But within minutes after Hoskins filed his brief opposing a stay on Sept. 10, the Supreme Court – in a brief, unsigned order – granted the request by von Glahn and People Not Politicians to block Clark’s order. ==It stated that Clark’s order would remain on hold “pending the disposition of the appeal in and disposition of a petition for a writ of certiorari in this Court, if such a writ is timely

sought==.” The 8th Circuit, which fast-tracked the proceedings, heard oral arguments on Sept. 17, and issued its decision on Monday.

 

In an unsigned, 35-page opinion, the 8th Circuit held “that Missouri’s current plan to use the 2022 map in the November 2026 general election violates the Constitution. Only use of the 2025 map complies with the Constitution and federal law.” In particular, the court of appeals said, because the state used the 2025 map in the August primaries, using a different map in the November general election would violate Article I, § 2 of the Constitution, which provides that “[t]he House of Representatives shall be composed of Members chosen every second Year by the People of the several States”: among other things, voters who, as a result of the change in maps, did not have an opportunity “to vote for the nominees that will appear on their November 2026 general election ballot” are “deprive[d] … of their constitutional right of choice.”

 

According to the court of appeals, the Purcellprinciple – the idea that federal courts should not change election rules too close to an election– “supports, not prevents” a ruling in favor of Onder and the other plaintiffs. “Using the 2025 map … will lead to the least amount of confusion for voters subjected to a string of changes this month,” the court of appeals wrote. And in any event, the court continued, “[a]ny confusion stems from the last-minute decision by a state court to switch the congressional map.”

 

The 8th Circuit instructed the district court to enter a permanent order requiring the state to use the 2025 map, but also to put that order on hold until 5 p.m. CDT on Sept. 28 to give the Supreme Court time to weigh in.

 

People Not Politicians and von Glahn returned to the court late Tuesday night, asking the justices either to “clarify” that their Sept. 10 order “means what it says” or pause the 8th Circuit’s Monday ruling. The Supreme Court’s Sept. 10 order, they wrote, froze Clark’s order – which had barred the state from using any map other than the 2025 map – “‘pending the disposition of the appeal in the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit and disposition of a petition for a writ of certiorari in this Court, if such a writ is timely sought.’” That order, they said, is still in effect, because the court “has not adjudicated a petition for certiorari and the time for seeking certiorari has not yet expired.”

 

They stressed that – as election officials across the state have stated – it is too late to return to the 2025 map. Ballots have already been sent to military and overseas voters, and Sept. 22 was the deadline for election officials to “print and make available absentee ballots.” Indeed, they noted, von Glahn himself had already “cast his ballot for the November general election” on Tuesday, “using a ballot issued under the 2022 map.” “That is the electoral disorder Purcell exists to prevent—on steroids,” they contended….

WASHINGTON – The FBI is investigating an apparent breach of its jobs website as a criminal hacking group claimed to have accessed “very sensitive data” on nearly all agents and job applicants.

 

“The FBI is aware of claims regarding unauthorized activity affecting FBIjobs.gov and is currently investigating," the bureau said in a statement. The website, the main portal for prospective employees to learn about the FBI and initiate the application process, remained offline Wednesday morning.

 

A message that circulated online from a hacking group known as ShinyHunters claimed responsibility for the hack.

 

The message, directed to FBI Director Kash Patel as well as the assistant director in the charge of the FBI's cyber division, said the hacking group had “compromised very sensitive data on almost ALL FBI Agents and individuals who filed an application with the FBI for a job.”

 

The claims could not immediately be verified, and an FBI spokesperson declined to comment further. An email to an address associated with the organization was not immediately returned.

 

In its message, ShinyHunters said it would give the bureau one week to correct or remove what it says are false allegations in an FBI public service announcement from May that described the organization as a “cyber criminal group specializing in large-scale data breaches and extortion.”

 

That announcement characterized ShinyHunters as “threat actors” who often "use their real or exaggerated claims of access to sensitive or personal information to prompt payment from victims," commonly harass or threaten victims and “may falsely claim to have sensitive or compromising information, including embarrassing photographs or videos of victims, which frequently do not exist.”

 

ShinyHunters said in its message to the FBI that it was “offended” by those characterizations and demanded that the FBI remove those claims.

 

The FBI has been a common hacking target.

 

In March, the FBI disclosed that it was investigating “suspicious activities” on an internal system that contains sensitive information related to surveillance operations and investigations. Also that month, a pro-Iranian hacking group claimed to have hacked an account of Patel's and posted online what appear to be years-old photographs of him, along with a work resume and other personal documents dating back more than a decade.

Three assailants shot at least 11 people to death in a mass shooting at a house party in South Africa, police said Wednesday.

 

One of the victims was a woman who was believed to be pregnant, police said in a statement. Three other people were wounded.

 

The shooting happened Tuesday night in the KwaMakhutha township around 19 miles south of the city of Durban on the east coast. The people had gathered at the house for a party when the attackers entered and opened fire, police said.

 

Police said they were searching for the assailants and no arrests had been made.

 

The motive for the shooting was not known, police said, adding that some of the people at the house were known to police as part of investigations into criminal activity. Police said they couldn’t give out any more information on those investigations.

 

“Although the motive of the shooting cannot be confirmed yet, feud between rival groupings cannot be ruled out,” police said.

NATO chief wants Europeans to fight American wars

Mark Rutte has justified the US-Israeli war on Iran and said European nations should “take care” of the Middle East in the future

European NATO nations should take greater responsibility for security in the Middle East, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has said. He also defended the US-Israeli war on Iran and argued that European members should spend less on social programs and more on the military.

 

Rutte made the remarks at a Chicago Council on Global Affairs event in Iowa on Tuesdayafter being asked to “make the case” for NATO to Americans by explaining “what’s in it” for them.

 

He described the Middle East as “Europe’s backyard” and “not the United States’ backyard,” arguing that Washington’s war against Tehran was “necessary” but that the US had to launch it because “somehow the Europeans did not have enough capabilities to do it themselves.”

 

“In the future, what you get from a stronger NATO is that Europeans can take care of their own backyard,” Rutte said.

 

The US-Israeli war on Iran, launched in late February, caused major friction within NATO as several European members resisted supporting Washington’s belligerence. Spain refused to allow American warplanes to use its bases for the campaign, drawing US President Donald Trump’s ire. Germany and the UK described the conflict as “not our war,” while stopping short of condemning the US and Israel.

 

Trump has since repeatedly accused European allies of failing to meet their NATO commitments and claimed the bloc “was not there when we needed them.” In April, US War Secretary Pete Hegseth said NATO’s future was uncertain and Washington could not currently reaffirm its commitment to collective defense.

 

Rutte also argued on Tuesday that the burden within NATO was unfair because European members spend heavily “on pensions and welfare,” while Washington has to devote more resources to weapons but “would also like to spend more on all these other lofty, beautiful items, but they can’t because they have to spend so much on defense.”

 

He described raising NATO’s defense spending target from 2% to 5% of GDP as “the fairness element” and part of an “equalizing” process.The remarks come as Washington pushes for a reorganization dubbed NATO 3.0, under which European members would sharply increase military spending and productionwhile assuming “primary responsibility for the conventional defense of Europe.”

 

Rutte also offered to help “protect the United States from threats of Russia” and China and prevent the Arctic “from becoming militarized by the Russians and the Chinese.”

 

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said last month that Moscow was primarily interested in “preserving the Arctic as an area of peace and cooperation” and accused NATO of “driving the region towards militarization.” His comments followed European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen’s proposal earlier this year to use increased EU military spending on “Arctic-ready equipment.”

The situation in the UK may evolve into large-scale civil disobedience. We have been reporting on the series of UK port blockades by furious British citizens that have started to track the small boat invasion while the inflatable ‘dinghies’ are still at sea.

 

We’ve seen activists moving on the ports of Dover, Portsmouth and – yesterday (22) – at Gosport, where 60 migrants arrived in a single boat.

 

As usual, the police appeared in force to contain the citizens and protect and escort the invaders.

 

Today (23), viral images doing the rounds online show anti-migration Danny Tommo tracking the inflatable boat that brought 60 migrants across the English Channel and into the UK.

 

News also arose that Globalist UK Police have opened a probe into Tommo after he shared a video of himself slashing the dinghy.

 

GB News reported:

“The activist had been live-streaming his attempt to puncture the boat – with nobody aboard – before it drifted away. A few seconds later, a French rescuer stepped onto the dinghy from his own larger boat.

 

As Danny Tommo, or Daniel Thomas, drew closer, he then successfully slashed one side of the inflatable dinghy. ‘You’re on English territory. This is England, this is not France anymore’, he said to the rescue worker.”

 

“He then repeatedly urged the rescuer to step off onto a French vessel which had pulled up next to the dinghy.

 

‘Get off the boat, you’ve got time to get off the boat’, he shouted multiple times before sailing off.

 

He said he was heading towards Gosport – and that the migrants originally aboard the boat were being taken elsewhere.”

I know these are two people that we generally don’t care to know much about. However, given the 15-year sentence handed down upon Harvey Weinstein today, an ancillary story deserves a slight mention.

 

This story makes sense, because back in 2025 Candace Owens suddenly became an advocate for Weinstein. According to the New York Post, there was an apparent financial arrangement:

 

NYP – […] Prosecutors alleged during the hearing that they had recordings of Weinstein offering a podcaster $1.75 million in a jailhouse phone call to release videos to help his defense by “contaminating the jury pool and reaching the seated jurors before and after the trials.”

 

Weinstein engaged in a “scheme to disrupt the trial and instill fear in his victims,” Manhattan Assistant District Attorney Nicole Blumberg alleged.

 

Blumberg did not identify the podcaster, but Candace Owens released a podcast series in 2025 called “Harvey Speaks,” which featured videos of Weinstein at the notorious city lockup. She didn’t return requests for comment Wednesday. (more)

I believe it is a major psyop and from what I can tell, it or they or whatever or whoever is “running this op” has done a major disservice.

What I see are a bunch of people sitting and waiting for something to happen instead of doing what I have been calling for now for quite some time (LOCAL ACTION).

The nonsense about trump is still the president and the military is coming to the rescue is just that…nonsense.

I wasn’t belittling Dave (he’s a big boy), I was being brutally honest (like it or not or believe it or not).

Rome is burning Nero and the bucket brigade is getting low on water.

And like it or not (I don’t), we have a person in the WH that is there following a constitutional process…note I didn’t say fair election (which I don’t believe occurred).

Lastly, I so respect your smart statement and most definitely appreciate your support as well as Dave’s (I’m a big fan of X22).

I also appreciate the support by many of the digital soldiers who did and do support me.

Thank you will never be enough. However, I want us to face reality for what it is and it is staring us in the face currently and it is ugly.
