Chuck Schumer Is Willing to Shut Down the Government to Protect the Mueller Investigation

Some politicians and pundits have questioned the constitutionality of President Donald Trump’s appointment of Matthew Whitaker as acting attorney general this past Wednesday, in the wake of Jeff Sessions’ departure, citing the circumvention of the Senate’s advise-and-consent role.

New York Democrats Rep. Jerrold Nadler and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, as well as House Minority Leader Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and others, have called for Whitaker to recuse himself from handling the Mueller investigation based on public comments Whitaker has made in the past about it.

Nadler’s role will soon include chairmanship of the House Judiciary Committee — affording him a position with considerable power.

Schumer announced that he, along with Pelosi and other fellow Democrats who are ranking members on their respective committees, was sending a letter to the chief ethics officer of the Justice Department, asking him to issue guidelines regarding Whitaker’s potential recusal from matters pertaining to the Mueller investigation.

If Whitaker does not recuse himself, Schumer said he would attach a demand for Whitaker’s non-interference to “must pass” legislation such as the spending bill — then risking another government shutdown.

As Schumer said on “State of the Union,” some senators — who may or may not have standing to bring such a suit — are pursuing legal action challenging Whitaker’s appointment.

The states check the federal abuses through state nullification.

Only the Constitution is supreme.

Nullification by the states; is the right to ignore the feds wherever the feds are not given a power to legislate a matter but they attempt to abuse their power, and legislate in a non enumerated sphere.

Meddling in schools with a non enumerated federal program like Common core, is one example.

The outlawing of any green plant is another.

Putin foe Alexei Navalny stopped at airport, barred from leaving Russia

Russian border guards blocked opposition leader Alexei Navalny from flying out of the country on Tuesday, in a move the Kremlin critic said was meant to prevent him from attending a final hearing on his case in Europe’s highest human rights court.

Not that I'm expecting anything, but Judicial Watch has a court hearing tomorrow (11/14/18) to compel HRC to testify, and also to unseal the video depositions for Cheryl Mills and others. It was pushed back from Oct 11 so it'll likely result in that again. Although, it'd be great to get those depositions out there. Would be interesting to see what they have to say. (Probably 5th, 5th, 5th, 5th…or maybe more of HRC's "I don't recall" responses.)

More people should know about jury nullification.

In the USA, a jury can nullify a law, by finding a defendant not guilty because they consider the law null and void.

40-60 of cases about alcohol during prohibition, were nullified by juries who felt that the alcohol laws were unjust. If more people knew about this then no DA would be able to get a conviction on use or sale of marijuana.
