TL;DR you are much more likely to get into politics if you attended a Group of Eight university.
What is a Group of Eight university? The Group of Eight is comprised of, unsurprisingly, 8 out of our 43 universities: University of Adelaide, Australian National University, University of Melbourne, Monash University, University of NSW, University of Queensland, University of Sydney and the University of Western Australia.
Labor 2007 - 2013: Out of the 49 members of their Cabinet and Outer Ministry, 41 attended a Group of Eight university, 4 did not, and 4 did not receive tertiary education.
Liberals 2013 - Present: Out of the 44 members of their Cabinet and Outer Ministry, 26 attended a Group of Eight university, 13 did not, and 5 did not receive tertiary education. One of the 13 who did not attend a Group of Eight university only received an education overseas, at an LERU member (see below).
All four prime ministers during this period attended a Group of Eight university. Both recent Liberal leaders have received Rhodes Scholarships to Oxford.
So it also seems like the Group of Eight work with other international university groupings, in particular the Association of American Universities (AAU) and the League of European Reach Universities (LERU).

Something of great significance here that is always overlooked is the Harold Holt disappearance and his link to the US President and five eyes.
Holt was a much loved liberal supporter who took an "Australia First" approach to his Prime Minister-ship.
During his support of Linden Johnson's vietnam war stance, the pair struck up a 'deep friendship' (at least on the side of Holt).
Building on the support and friendship with USA and in Particular Johnson (who was the first US President to visit Australia) Holt authorised the Pine Gap facility.
What's more disturbing is that Johnson negotiated the building of what is now called the "Harold E Holt Naval Communications Base" in Exmouth Western Australia.
This was negotiate with LBJ for years.
Two weeks after he signed off on that installation (from what I know - part of the five eyes along with PG) Holt disappeared during his usual morning swim and was never seen again.
I suspect, although in my early days of research, that he realised he'd been deceived by Johnson and intended to protect Austrlia's sovereignty by withdrawing the go ahead. Johnson and the Cabal had him murdered.
According to all reports - even from Holts widow, Johnson was devastated and even flew to Australia to attend his memorial.

Andrew Hastie, who chairs the powerful intelligence and security committee, used parliamentary privilege to claim businessman Chau Chak Wing funded the bribery of former UN president John Ashe.

Australian diplomat whose tip prompted FBI’s Russia-probe has tie to Clintons
The Australian diplomat whose tip in 2016 prompted the Russia-Trump investigation previously arranged one of the largest foreign donations to Bill and Hillary Clinton’s charitable efforts, documents show.
Former Australian Foreign Minister Alexander Downer’s role in securing $25 million in aid from his country to help the Clinton Foundation fight AIDS is chronicled in decade-old government memos archived on the Australian foreign ministry’s website.
Downer and former President Clinton jointly signed a Memorandum of Understanding in February 2006 that spread out the grant money over four years for a project to provide screening and drug treatment to AIDS patients in Asia.
The money was initially allocated to the Clinton Foundation but later was routed through an affiliate of the charity known as the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI), officials said. Australia was one of four foreign governments to donate more than $25 million to CHAI, records show.
In the years that followed, the project won praise for helping thousands of HIV-infected patients in Papua New Guinea, Vietnam, China and Indonesia, but also garnered criticism from auditors about “management weaknesses” and inadequate budget oversight, the memos show.
Downer, now Australia’s ambassador to London, provided the account of a conversation with Trump campaign adviser George Papadopoulos at a London bar in 2016 that became the official reason the FBI opened the Russia counterintelligence probe.
But lawmakers say the FBI didn’t tell Congress about Downer’s prior connection to the Clinton Foundation. Republicans say they are concerned the new information means nearly all of the early evidence the FBI used to justify its election-year probe of Trump came from sources supportive of the Clintons, including the controversial Steele dossier.
“The Clintons’ tentacles go everywhere. So, that’s why it’s important,” said Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) chairman of a House Oversight and Government Reform subcommittee that has been taking an increasingly visible role defending the Trump administration in the Russia probe. “We continue to get new information every week it seems that sort of underscores the fact that the FBI hasn’t been square with us.”
Spokesman for the FBI and Russia special counsel Robert Mueller declined comment.
The Australian Foreign Ministry says the Clinton grant was handled like all its other $2 billion annual foreign aid awards, and it ultimately helped thousands in Asia gain access to antiretroviral AIDS medications.
Democrats accuse the GOP of overreaching, saying Downer’s role in trying to help the Clinton Foundation fight AIDS shouldn’t be used to question his assistance to the FBI.
“The effort to attack the FBI and DOJ as a way of defending the President continues,” said Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), the top Democrat on the House Intelligence panel. “Not content to disparage our British allies and one of their former intelligence officers, the majority now seeks to defame our Australian partners as a way of undermining the Russia probe. It will not succeed, but may do lasting damage to our institutions and allies in the process.”
Nick Merrill, Hillary Clinton’s spokesman, said any effort to connect the 2006 grant with the current Russia investigation was “laughable.”
Craig Minassian, a spokesman for the Bill, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton Foundation, said the focus should be on the foundation’s success helping tens of thousands of AIDS patients.

Disgraced Wagga Wagga MP Daryl Maguire will resign from NSW Parliament, Premier Gladys Berejiklian has announced.
Mr Maguire last week quit the Liberal Party and his role as parliamentary secretary, after a corruption inquiry heard secret recordings of him discussing potential commissions with a local councillor from property deals with a wealthy Chinese developer.
But a defiant Mr Maguire had until now refused to quit NSW politics, saying he would remain in parliament until the March 2019 state election.
On Saturday afternoon, Ms Berejiklian said Mr Maguire would resign some time next week, before parliament resumes on August 7. A byelection will be held in the seat of Wagga Wagga, Ms Berejiklian said.
"I can confirm that this morning I spoke to Mr Maguire. He advised me of his intention to resign from Parliament before Parliament resumes. I accepted that," Ms Berejiklian said.
"I envisage it will be some time next week and he will present that resignation to the Speaker, as is the process."
She said the Speaker would be in touch with the Electoral Commission to set a date for the byelection, which would see Wagga Wagga voters go to the polls twice in a span of months.
"As frustrating as it is for everybody, it's the right thing to do," Ms Berejiklian said.
"I think the public would not have accepted it, had we held the seat open until March next year. I do not fear a byelection. The people of Wagga should be heard."
Ms Berejiklian said she had also spoken to Deputy Premier and Nationals Leader John Barliaro and a decision had been made that the Liberals would run a candidate in the byelection and that the Nationals would not.
"The Liberal Party has held that seat for half a century and the Liberal Party has opened nominations," she said.
Many senior Nationals had been agitating to contest the regional seat, and under the coalition agreement a byelection was the only time they could do that.
But Mr Barliaro on Saturday told the Herald he was happy for the Liberals to run again in the seat.
"It is a Liberal seat and they have every right to run," he said.
"The Nationals have no interest in three-cornered contests. History shows in NSW that three-cornered contests are not good for the coalition."
This month, the Independent Commission Against Corruption heard secret recordings of telephone conversations in which Mr Maguire admitted trying to earn payments by setting property developers up with investors, particularly large Chinese firms.
Following the explosive evidence at the ICAC, Mr Maguire moved to the cross bench after resigning as a parliamentary secretary and quitting the parliamentary Liberal Party.
Earlier this week, he released a video statement saying he would remain in Parliament.
"I won't resign. I'm not going to resign," he said on Monday.
"I've removed myself from the Liberal Party. I've resigned from the party only, but I won't resign as a member of parliament."
Asked why Mr Maguire had changed his mind on staying until March 2019, Ms Berejiklian said it was a "a matter for him".

Mustapha Kara-Ali is a Research Fellow in Science and Religion at Harvard University
Prior to his Research Fellowship appointment at Harvard University, Dr Kara-Ali won the Australian Endeavour Award for his doctorate (2013) on science and religion. His PhD Dissertation has been considered a pioneering study, as it brought together discussions on the three foundational disciplines of epistemology, philosophy of science and religious hermeneutics to study the foundations of the Scientific Revolution.
Mustapha has presented his research in papers at Harvard University, Oxford University, Notre Dame University, Melbourne University, Sydney University, the Lowy Institute for International Policy, and various other government and academic forums and conferences. Prior to his affiliation with Harvard University, Mustapha was associated with the American University of Beirut, the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and the University of New South Wales (UNSW).
As part of his teaching and community engagement, Dr Kara-Ali founded Diwan Al Dawla as a guild that provides human and spiritual development, as well as, a framework for practice based upon a unitarian epistemology and narrative. Prior to that he led a number of community initiatives in Australia and the Middle East.
Mustapha completed his Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering at the University of New South Wales (Honours class) with a dissertation on human cognitive modelling and Artificial Intelligence, and he was awarded a CSIRO (Commonwealth Scientific and Industry Research Organisation) Intern Scholarship.

The risk of disenfranchisement to be alleviated can, therefore, only be eliminated once the vulnerability factors that underpin this form of disadvantage are countered and a corresponding community scheme is put in place.
Diwan Al Dawla aims to achieve this through a spiritual service that provides a social scaffolding that is grounded in an active community framework. An autonomous spiritual approach, when accompanied by a charitable mission, can be a motivational force that engages individuals and inspires them to join the guild's oath of duty and sacrifice.

No environment officials at Turnbull meeting about $443m reef grant to tiny charity
No environment department officials were present at a meeting in which the prime minister, Malcolm Turnbull, and the environment minister, Josh Frydenberg, discussed a plan that led to a $443.8m grant to a small Great Barrier Reef charity.
The charity, the Great Barrier Reef Foundation, has also confirmed that its founders were wealthy businessmen and philanthropists with links to the resources industry, and one was a senior public servant in the Bjelke-Petersen government.
In hearings this week for a Senate inquiry examining how the foundation came to be awarded the funds, its managing director, Anna Marsden, said the foundation’s chairman, John Schubert, was informed there would be a budget allocation at a 9 April meeting with Turnbull, Frydenberg and the secretary of the Environment and Energy Department, Finn Pratt.
But in a letter to the inquiry’s committee, Marsden has corrected her statement to say Pratt was not present.
“In the hearing I stated that the secretary of the Department of Environment and Energy, Mr Finn Pratt, attended the meeting with our chair on 9 April 2018. This is incorrect, Mr Pratt was not present in this meeting,” the letter states.
Marsden told the hearing the foundation “did not suggest or make any application for this funding” and was first informed of the plan at the 9 April meeting.
Guardian Australia can also reveal the idea for the foundation was conceived by Sir Sydney Schubert, a Queensland public servant who served as coordinator general under the Bjelke-Petersen Queensland government and was a founding director of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority and a chancellor of Bond University. He died in 2015.
A spokesperson for the foundation said: “It is our understanding that Sir Sydney Schubert’s idea for forming the foundation was to create a charity to bring science and business together with a common purpose of protecting the Great Barrier Reef.”
The foundation, which has previously not disclosed who established the charity, confirmed the remaining three founders were its current chairman, John Schubert, John Boyd Reid, who was a chairman of his family’s business James Hardie, and Sir Ian McFarlane, a businessman who sought to develop shale oil projects in Queensland.
Australian Securities and Investments Commission records for the Great Barrier Reef Foundation show it was registered as a company in 1999. Its first four directors were Sir Sydney Schubert, McFarlane, Reid and David Windsor, who was an executive director of the Association of Marine Park Tourism Operators.
“At the Senate inquiry on 30 July, the Great Barrier Reef Foundation was asked about the origin of the foundation. The managing director agreed to make further inquiries,” the foundation spokesperson said.
“Further to these inquiries, it is our understanding that in 1999: an initial meeting to discuss the formation of a charity to assist the Reef was held; those who attended that meeting included Sir Sydney Schubert (a founding director of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority), Sir Ian McFarlane, Mr John B Reid AO and Dr John Schubert AO.”
The spokesperson added that in 1998 “the first severe mass coral bleaching event on the Great Barrier Reef occurred”.

This is completely incorrect and misleading. The Hegelian Dialectic is simply a method for synthesizing logical conclusions.
