Syria Vows To Continue Operations In Greater Idlib Despite Turkish Attacks

Syria will continue coonducting offensive operations against terrorists in the provinces of Aleppo and Idlib despite Turkish attacks, the Syrain Armed Forces said on February 11.

The General Command of the Army and Armed Forces said that the Turkish attacks will not succeed in protecting terrorism nor will they dissuade the army from continuing its operations in Idleb province and in the west of Aleppo to cleanse them of terrorism in all its forms and to restore security and stability to all areas across Syria.

In a statement on Tuesday, the General Command said the Turkish regime continues to escalate its aggressive acts and transgressions upon Syrian geography in violation of international law and the concept of the sovereignty of independent states in an attempt to halt the advance of the Syrian Arab Army and to prevent the fall of armed terrorist groups in Idleb and west of Aleppo.

The General Command said the Turkish regime has deployed new military forces and escalated its aggression intensively, targeting areas populated by civilians and positions of the army units with rocket shells to help the terrorists maintain control over territory, keep using civilians as human shields, and carry out systematic crimes and vandalism.

The statement said the Armed Forces will continue carrying out their constitutional and national duties, and they are ready to respond to the Turkish occupation’s attacks and defend the safety of the country and its people.

The first involved Salim Hamdan — a Yemeni held at Guantanamo after having been captured in Afghanistan in November 2001 — who was charged with committing acts in furtherance of a terrorist conspiracy, including serving as Osama bin Laden’s personal bodyguard and driver, and training at al Qaida camps. Jussie Smollett has been indicted by a special prosecutor in Chicago, nearly a year after the charges against him over an alleged hoax attack were dropped.

Fox 5 reports special prosecutor Dan Webb brought charges against Smollett on Tuesday. It is not clear what those charges are but he is due in court on February 24.

Authorities are yet to confirm the indictment.

It is now more than a year since Smollett claimed he was attacked at 2am in Chicago on January 29 while out getting a sandwich.

He told police his attackers called him racist and homophobic slurs and that they appeared light-skinned.

Nigerian brothers Abel and Ola Osundairo were then identified as the people he'd said attacked him. The pair knew Smollett and told the authorities he paid them to attack him in a staged incident to allegedly boost his celebrity profile and salary.

Smollett was then hit with a 16-count grand jury indictment and faced more than 50 years behind bars until State's Attorney Kim Foxx suddenly dropped all the charges last March in exchange for him doing community service.

It was a decision that blindsided and outraged former mayor Rahm Emanuel and former Chief of Police Eddie Johnson.

Smollett, who has all along insisted he is innocent, then sued the city for malicious prosecution.

There have been various rounds of civil litigation but the cases keep getting delayed because it has been so difficult to identify an impartial prosecutor.

PARIS (Reuters) – Telecoms lobby GSMA will hold a board meeting on Friday to discuss the possible cancellation of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona after several big-name withdrawals because of the coronavirus outbreak, an industry source said on Tuesday.

MWC, scheduled to take place on Feb. 24-27, is the telecoms industry’s biggest annual gathering, with companies spending millions on stands and hospitality to fill their order books.

The top prosecutors in the Roger Stone case have withdrawn from their roles after the Justice Department reversed course in seeking a lengthy prison sentence of the Republican operative. A brief court filing with the U.S. District Court for the District on Tuesday shows Aaron Zelinsky resigned "effective immediately" from his appointment as a special assistant U.S. attorney in Washington, D.C. working on the Stone case. Zelinsky is an assistant federal prosecutor from Maryland and was on loan in the District of Columbia with former special counsel Robert Mueller’s team investigating possible criminal conspiracy between the Trump 2016 campaign and Russia.

In another dramatic move, Assistant U.S. Attorney Jonathan Kravis, who was not part of Mueller's team, told the court in a subsequent filing that he has resigned as assistant U.S. attorney “and therefore no longer represents the government in this matter." Prosecutors on Monday filed a motion recommending that Stone, who was found guilty of witness tampering and lying to Congress, be sentenced to seven to nine years in prison. That recommendation was met with criticism from President Trump, who called the situation “horrible and very unfair” on Twitter early Tuesday morning.

Hours later, the Justice Department rebuked the career prosecutors behind the recommendation and signaled it would scale back the sentencing request. Timothy Shea, the interim U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia who took over as lead counsel from U.S. Attorney Jessie Liu a couple weeks ago, so far remains on the case, even after signing off on the tough sentencing recommendation for Stone on Monday. California lawyer busted by feds for selling illegal guns, meth

A California lawyer was busted by ATF agents for allegedly selling a number of unlicensed guns and methamphetamine, authorities said Monday.

The suspect, Melinda Romines of Anaheim, acted as a middle man for black-market arms dealers, buying the weapons then re-selling them to customers, the ATF said in a statement.

In one of the deals, she allegedly sold a .40-caliber pistol, an AR-style rifle and a silencer to a buyer in a Los Angeles parking lot in 2018, the agency said. Both of the guns had their serial numbers scratched off, according to the statement.

In another parking lot a few months later, she allegedly sold another illegal .45-caliber pistol in a deal that made her $900.

A month later, she and an accomplice sold close to a quarter-pound of methamphetamine in two drug deals, the ATF said.

She was indicted on one count of conspiracy to engage in the business of dealing in firearms without a license, one count of possession of an unregistered firearm, and two counts of distributing methamphetamine, authorities said.

Romines could not immediately be reached for comment early Tuesday.

Please open your heart to help a child never have to be put before her abused again. This is definitely something no one wants To talk about however this happens to 2 out of 4 girls. And this time my daughter is the victim of her own FATHER

and to make matters worse the Judge seems to be pro dad. He uttered the words “I’m sorry you are missing out on your parenting time with your daughter”

I couldn’t believe my ears. Thinking that the justice would be on the side of a child but apparently a man who has molested his own offspring has rights to them. Unless I can show up with a defense team to protect my child. I’m desperate to get the help to protect her from him ever hurting her again. We now find ourselves in this situation.

We ar in the midst of one of the most challenging situation no parent should ever face. I am taking my daughters father to court in pursuit of full custody with no visitation .

This decision does not come easily. March 6th my daughter came forward about her father abusing her. This last month has been hell for her. Its been hell for me to even take in that the father of my child is a monster. All I know as a mother who loves my daughter dearly my daughter is no longer safe in her fathers care. She expressed she never wants to see her father again. She is afraid for her life at this point because she spoke out and knows her father will be angry.

Come to find out hes been molesting her for some time now. The first time it happened she ran to tell her grandmother ( bios dads mother) Grandmother immediately called my daughters father to the room to let him know what my daughter just expressed to her. He of course yelled at my daughter and scared her to death. My daughter trusted an adult to protect her and that person failed to do so. Neither adult ever came to me to let me know about that incident. Years later here we are. My brave daughter finally came to me for help.

I started my daughter with an amazing therapist who specializes with sexual abuse victims. These visits have become quite costly for my family and I. We also received horrific news today in court that my daughters predator (Father) wants monitored visits with her. My daughter doesn't ever want to be in his presence. She is afraid he will hurt again. I was able to meet with an attorney today who made me feel we have a chance to help this case and save my child. Our next court hearing is May 3rd. We are at our final hours of being able to retain the attorney to appear on our court date.

We need help with the attorney / therapy fees.

Prayers for my daughter would be much appreciated.

The Southeast Asian country joins a growing list of destinations to turn away the Westerdam luxury liner, leaving thousands of passengers and crew stranded at sea.
