Executive Branch Agencies Recommend the FCC Revoke and Terminate China Telecomโ€™s Authorizations to Provide International Telecommunications Services in the United States

 

Today, interested Executive Branch agencies[1] unanimously recommended that the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) revoke and terminate China Telecom (Americas) Corp.โ€™s authorizations to provide international telecommunications services to and from the United States. China Telecom is the U.S. subsidiary of a Peopleโ€™s Republic of China (PRC) state-owned telecommunications company.

 

The Department of Justice led the review of China Telecomโ€™s authorizations, and it based the recommendation on developments since the authorizations were last transferred in 2007, including China Telecomโ€™s failure to comply with the terms of an existing agreement with the Department.

 

โ€œToday, more than ever, the life of the nation and its people runs on our telecommunications networks,โ€ said John C. Demers, Assistant Attorney General for National Security. โ€œThe security of our government and professional communications, as well as of our most private data, depends on our use of trusted partners from nations that share our values and our aspirations for humanity. Todayโ€™s action is but our next step in ensuring the integrity of Americaโ€™s telecommunications systems.โ€

 

In its recommendation, the Executive Branch agencies identified substantial and unacceptable national security and law enforcement risks associated with China Telecomโ€™s operations, which render the FCC authorizations inconsistent with the public interest. More specifically the recommendation was based on:

 

the evolving national security environment since 2007 and increased knowledge of the PRCโ€™s role in malicious cyber activity targeting the United States;

concerns that China Telecom is vulnerable to exploitation, influence, and control by the PRC government;

inaccurate statements by China Telecom to U.S. government authorities about where China Telecom stored its U.S. records, raising questions about who has access to those records;

inaccurate public representations by China Telecom concerning its cybersecurity practices, which raise questions about China Telecomโ€™s compliance with federal and state cybersecurity and privacy laws; and

the nature of China Telecomโ€™s U.S. operations, which provide opportunities for PRC state-actors to engage in malicious cyber activity enabling economic espionage and disruption and misrouting of U.S. communications.

 

Some of the foregoing relate to China Telecomโ€™s failure to comply with a 2007 Letter of Assurance, which was a basis for the existing FCC authorizations. The Departmentโ€™s National Security Division, Foreign Investment Review Section, identified those compliance issues through its mitigation monitoring program. As a result, the Executive Branch agencies concluded that the national security and law enforcement risks associated with China Telecomโ€™s international Section 214 authorizations could not be mitigated by additional mitigation terms.

 

More information concerning the Executive Branch agenciesโ€™ recommendation is available on the FCCโ€™s International Bureau Filing System (IBFS), under Docket Number ITC-T/C-20070725-00285. The Department of Commerceโ€™s National Telecommunications and Information Administration filed the recommendation on behalf of the Executive Branch agencies.

 

The Department is committed to working with industry to ensure that critical business needs are considered and addressed in a manner that is consistent with the United Statesโ€™ national security and law enforcement interests. This action was taken under the legacy, ad hoc arrangement of the Departments of Justice, Defense, and Homeland Security, formerly known as Team Telecom, the operation of which was recently formalized by Executive Order dated April 4, 2020, establishing the Committee for the Assessment of Foreign Participation in the United States Telecommunications Services Sector. Applications referred by the FCC after the date of the Executive Order will be handled under the process outlined therein.

'Terrible, Tragic Mistake:' Top General Warns Enemies Not to Test US Military Readiness

 

The Pentagon's top leaders said Thursday they can see a "light at the end of the tunnel" of the COVID-19 pandemic and stressed that the U.S. military remains a force in readiness, with fewer than 2,000 cases out of more than two million troops available to support contingency operations.

 

During an internet broadcast Thursday morning, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley warned adversaries that it would be a "terrible, tragic mistake if they thought that โ€ฆ [they] can take advantage of any opportunities โ€ฆ at a time of crisis."

 

"The U.S. military is very, very capable to conduct whatever operations are necessary to defend the American people," Milley said. "We will adapt ourselves to operating in a COVID-19 environment. We are already doing that."

 

As of Thursday, 1,898 service members had confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 389 soldiers, 367 airmen, 164 Marines, 597 sailors and 381 National Guard members.

 

Given that the Defense Department has 2.3 million troops, including the National Guard and reserve components, the services are "ready today and will be ready tomorrow," Milley said.

 

"I'm absolutely confident that we are very ready to handle any mission that comes our way," added Defense Secretary Mark Esper during the broadcast. "Why is that? It's because our commanders and NCOs have taken measures to protect our members."

 

Less than .09 percent of U.S. forces have confirmed COVID-19 infections, and nearly all are "mild or moderate" cases, according to Esper. Sixty-four service members have been hospitalized for the coronavirus.

 

By contrast, .13 percent of the U.S. population have confirmed cases of the illness.

 

"We also have far, far, far smaller numbers of hospitalizations. โ€ฆ. I attribute that to the measures we took very early on, going all the way back to 3 February when we issued our first guidance to the field in regard to health protection," Esper said.

 

According to Esper and Milley, the DoD has more than 50,000 service members responding to the COVID-19 pandemic. This includes 29,400 National Guard members, as well as 17,000 members of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and thousands of military medical personnel.

 

Air Force Gen. John Hyten, vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs, said Thursday that many of the military medical personnel are now serving in civilian hospitals, filling in for staff members who have become ill or need rest โ€“ especially in hard-hit areas like New York City.

Officials in at least 6 states are accusing the federal government of quietly diverting their orders for coronavirus medical equipment

 

State and local authorities in Colorado, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Kentucky, Texas, and Florida made these accusations.

 

States have been making their own orders for ventilators, masks, and other personal protective equipment since President Donald Trump told them in March not to rely on the national stockpile for medical supplies.

Trump has also instructed the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to lead efforts to distribute equipment according to priority, the Los Angeles Times reported.

But state and health leaders in Colorado, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Kentucky, Texas, and Florida are now accusing the federal government of of intercepting and diverting their equipment orders without explaining why.

"Either you're buying them and you're providing them to the states and letting us know what we're going to get and when we're going to get them. Or stay out and let us buy them," Colorado Gov. Jared Polis said in comments addressed to FEMA on CNN.

A FEMA spokeswoman denied seizing any states' shipments, but told The Times that "prioritizing PPE deliveries to COVID hot spots can have the unintended consequence of disrupting the regular supply chain deliveries to other areas of the country."

The federal government has been accused of intercepting shipments of vital medical equipment ordered by state authorities to shore up their supplies in the face of the coronavirus crisis.

 

In March, President Donald Trump had told states to seek their own supplies and minimize their requests from the national stockpile, which has resulted in local authorities scrambling to place large orders of ventilators, masks, and other personal protective equipment.

 

Trump has put the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in charge of deciding which states are in most need of equipment from the national stockpile, replacing the Department of Health and Human Services, according to The New York Times.

 

Since then, there have been multiple reports of FEMA or the wider federal government diverting thousands of pieces of equipment from the states that ordered them, without explanation.

 

State representatives say the situation has caused confusion and dismay.

In Charlotte, NC, uptown, between 2 not 3 pm and 2:10 not 3:10 (as I had erroneously posted before), dozens and dozens and dozens of police vehicles, sirens on, with fire trucks, black cars, at least one army vehicle, large, bus size medical vehicles, approached the edge of town, passing the Panthers stadium, turning left at that corner. Thought at first it was maybe a funeral column? But those other vehicles seem suspicious. I do know the direction in which they seemed to be going is a YMCA, which had just finished building a new addition. Not saying that's it, but that's the direction. I tried going on line to local news. Not seeing anything yet.

 

Now this is the same area where I had seen a military copter circling a week or so ago (rough on that, it was recent, maybe slightly more), and I saw the same sort of bird either yesterday or the day before. It was that day when those air assets were seen over California. Sorry I don't know how to sauce anything.

 

As I am typing that same copter just passed the building!

Jay Inslee said Wednesday a Department of Defense field hospital that had been set up by the football field where the Seattle Seahawks play due to the coronavirus outbreak will be returned to the Federal Emergency Management Agency so it can be deployed to another state facing more of a crisis.

 

Late last month Inslee announced 300 hundred soldiers from the 627th Army Hospital at Fort Carson, Colorado, had deployed to Seattle to staff the hospital along with soldiers from Joint Base Lewis-McChord. The facility was expected to create at least 250 hospital beds for non-COVID-19 cases. The facility was located at Century Link Field Event Center just south of downtown Seattle.

 

Inslee said the decision to send the field hospital elsewhere was made after consulting with local, state and federal leaders. The Seattle area saw the countryโ€™s first coronavirus outbreak, and so far there are more than 9,000 confirmed cases and nearly 421 deaths in Washington. But Inslee and others have said they now donโ€™t expect the stateโ€™s hospitals to be overwhelmed.

 

โ€œDonโ€™t let this decision give you the impression that we are out of the woods. We have to keep our guard up and continue to stay home unless conducting essential activities to keep everyone healthy,โ€ Inslee said in a statement. โ€œWe requested this resource before our physical distancing strategies were fully implemented and we had considerable concerns that our hospitals would be overloaded."

Did Trump give Israel 1 million face masks despite coronavirus equipment shortages in the US?

 

An Israeli press report claiming the US Department of Defense had shipped one million face masks to Israel to help protect Israeli soldiers has angered Americans, causing some to question the Trump administration's priorities amid the coronavirus pandemic amid reports of shortages of protective equipment for US health workers.

 

The Pentagon's alleged shipment was initially reported by the Jerusalem Post, however mention of American involvement was later scrubbed, raising suspicions that US public anger may have forced Israeli military censors to act.

 

Israel's army is notorious for tightly monitoring media output, having barred or redacted over 2,000 stories just last year, according to the Movement for Freedom of Information.

 

"US Department of Defense give 1 million masks to IDF for coronavirus use," read a headline published by the Jerusalem Post on Wednesday, referring to the shipment that had arrived at Ben-Gurion Airport on Tuesday night.

 

The original article said: "A plane carrying over a million surgical masks for the IDF landed in Ben-Gurion airport Tuesday night, in an operation run by the US Department of Defenseโ€™s Delegation of Procurement".

 

Curiously, the headline was later revised to: "Israel brings 1 million masks from China for IDF soldiers" but traces of the old headline can be seen in the article's URL.

 

All mention of the US Department of Defense's alleged involvement also appear to have been removed, with no reason given in the updated article for the revision or official retraction posted.

 

A yet-to-be-deleted tweet by the Jerusalem Post official account still shows the original introduction (screenshot here).

 

The New Arab has reached out to the Department of Defense's Defense Logistics Agency for comment but did not receive a response at the time of publication. The DLA on its website says it "provides logistical, acquisition, and technical support for the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps and other federal agencies and allies."

 

Israel's spy agency Mossad has been involved in a frantic effort to secure protective gear as Tel Aviv scrambles to respond to a major coronavirus outbreak.

 

The initial headline mentioning US involvement in the shipment sparked fury on social media, where users highlighted America's own struggles to contain the coronavirus outbreak.

 

"American hospitals are begging for protective gear, this is sickening," wrote one Twitter user, referring to US medical workers who have complained about reported shortages of protective gear for frontline workers.

 

"While frontline American health workers go without & Palestinians are told to use their socks, Trump ships a million masks to israel's army," wrote another, referring to reports that Palestinian prisoners were told by Israeli authorities to use socks as face masks.

 

The Trump administration has been praised by Israeli leaders as the friendliest ever to Israel.

 

The delivery of alleged US supplies to support Israel's military comes just days after a US Navy captain was removed for alleging that the Pentagon had given inadequate attention to a Covid-19 outbreak on the USS Theodore Roosevelt aircraft carrier.

 

Brett Crozier wrote a letter that was leaked to the media describing the virus-struck vessel's dire situation.

 

Following Crozier's removal, US Acting Navy Secretary Thomas Modly resigned on Tuesday over his mishandling of the affair and the heavy-handed approach towards the navy captain.

 

The Crozier affair was just the latest in a string of missteps by the Trump administration amid the coronavirus pandemic, drawing sustained criticism from the American public.

 

US President Donald Trump initially downplayed the virus, which he likened to an ordinary flu and said was under control in the United States, before later accepting that it was a national emergency.

 

More than 12,000 Americans have now died from Covid-19.

Tesco has withdrawn a range of children's sweets from UK stores over fears they contain melamine, the chemical responsible for the contaminated baby milk scandal in China.

The supermarket chain recalled White Rabbit Creamy Candies because of reports about the presence of melamine, the chemical that has contaminated formula milk in China, killing four babies and leaving about 53,000 children ill.

Food testers in New Zealand, Hong Kong and Singapore found melamine in the sweets.

White Rabbit candies are stocked in UK branches of Tesco that sell ethnic foods from around the world. The supermarket said it had withdrawn the sweets on the advice of the Food Standards Agency (FSA), and that nobody was known to have fallen ill after eating them.

A Tesco spokesman said: "As a precautionary measure, we have withdrawn White Rabbit Candies from the very small number of UK stores that sell them as part of our ethnic range."โ€ฆ

Israel tells Palestinians to use tracking app to verify their residency status

 

Palestinians living in Israel have been told to download an invasive app that verifies whether their residentsโ€™ permits are still valid, reported Israeli newspaper Haaretz, but the app also tracks the userโ€™s movements and the messages received on the device.

 

Called โ€œAl Munasiqโ€, or โ€œThe Coordinatorโ€ in Arabic, the mobile app enables the Israeli military to track the userโ€™s location as well as access any notifications they receive, files they download or save, and the deviceโ€™s camera.

 

The controversial measure is raising constitutional privacy questions and criticism while the country deals with its own security during a public health crisis.

 

Palestinians who are granted humanitarian or family reunification permits in Israel are usually required to visit the Coordination of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) offices to verify their status.

 

However, the offices are currently closed due to the outbreak of the coronavirus, so they have no choice but to download the application.

 

According to Haaretz, in order to install the app, users need to approve the following terms: โ€œWe may make use of the information we collect for any purpose, including for security purposes.โ€

 

โ€œYou agree and declare that you know that all the information you are asked to provide is not required by law or defense regulations, and it is provided of your own free will, so that we can make use of it as we see fit. Lawyers with human rights NGO Hamoked, Adi Lustigman and Benjamin Agsteribbe, wrote on behalf of their organisation that โ€œThe connection between clarifying the status of the permits and revealing private information is unclear.โ€

 

โ€œPlacing these requirements as the sole default for a person to use the application is extremely unreasonable, and cynically exploits public distress and panic in these grim times for the inappropriate purpose to invade oneโ€™s privacy in a manner that damages human dignity,โ€ the letter added.

In the United States, one does not usually hear much about the Ultra-Orthodox community that lives in Israel. Historically, there has always been a small observant Jewish community in Palestine. It was mostly a poor community of people who came to study the Torah and bask in the holiness of the land. There were small communities in Hebron, Tabaria and Safad and, of course, in the Old City of Jerusalem.

 

In the nineteenth century, some of the Jews in Jerusalem moved out of the Old City into neighborhoods that were built for them by wealthy Jewish donors from Europe. It also brought about a group of Haredi Jews who do not accept the legitimacy of the state but opted for practical reasons to work with it and within it. The price that the Israeli government pays to get the Haredi groups to agree to work with it amounts to many millions of dollars to Haredi education institutions. โ€œIt is like a fisherman with a worm on a hook,โ€ Rabbi Shapiro explains, โ€œand the Haredi community, like a smart fish, is trying to get the worm without biting into the hook.โ€ The worm is funding, the hook is Zionism, the draft, and modifications to their religious education.

 

Throughout the twentieth century, as โ€œIsraelinessโ€ was being defined as a secular testosterone-filled identity, a deep resentment towards the Haredi community was cultivated. Federal Complaint Filed Against San Antonio Man for COVID-19-Related Hoax

 

In San Antonio, 39-year-old Christopher Charles Perez is charged with allegedly perpetrating a COVID-19-related hoax, announced U.S. Attorney John F. Bash and FBI San Antonio Division Special Agent in Charge Christopher Combs, San Antonio Division.

 

A federal criminal complaint unsealed today charges Perez with one count of violating 18 U.S.C. ยง 1038, which criminalizes false information and hoaxes related to weapons of mass destruction. According to the complaint, Perez allegedly posted a threat on Facebook in which he claimed to have paid someone to spread coronavirus at grocery stores in the San Antonio area because he was trying to deter people from visiting the stores, purportedly in order to prevent the spread of the virus. A screenshot of that posted threat was sent by an online tip to the Southwest Texas Fusion Center (SWTFC) on Sunday. The SWTFC contacted the FBI office in San Antonio for further investigation. To be clear, the alleged threat was false; no one spread coronavirus at grocery stores, according to investigators.

 

Perez, whom FBI agents arrested late yesterday afternoon without incident, faces up to five years in federal prison upon conviction. He remains in federal custody at this time.

Bill Oโ€™Reilly UNLOADS on Hannityโ€™s Radio Program About Coronavirus Death Toll Farce

 

The questions is whether the current death rate of over 16,000 people in the United States is accurate. It seems there are doubts from others as well, just not me personally.

 

Former Fox News reporter, Bill Oโ€™Reilly shrugged off the growing death toll from the coronavirus pandemic on Wednesday while on Sean Hannityโ€™s radio program. Claiming that projected deaths from the virus will be low because those who are currently dying โ€œwere on their last legs anyway, and I donโ€™t want to sound callous about that., Oโ€™Reilly said.โ€

 

Sensing that Oโ€™Reillyโ€™s comments would draw immediate outrage, Hannity interjected and let Oโ€™Reilly know that heโ€™s โ€œgoing to get hammered for that.โ€ โ€œWell, I donโ€™t care,โ€ the one-time Oโ€™Reilly Factor host fired back. โ€œI mean, a simple man tells the truth.โ€

 

โ€œThe death projections that you just mentioned are down to 60,000,โ€ Oโ€™Reilly said, citing a recent model on projected American deaths through August. โ€œI donโ€™t think it will be that high.โ€

 

The ex-Fox starโ€™s comment echoes those of other right-wing personalities recently who have questioned the death count. Fox News senior analyst Brit Hume, for instance, has repeatedly asserted that the American death toll, which currently stands at over 16,000, is inflated because anyone who dies after contracting COVID-19 is being counted.

 

Oโ€™Reilly, meanwhile, ended the discussion by predicting that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will say that a large percentage of โ€œpeople who died from the virus, also had other things that killed them.โ€

I am writing today to address concerns that many of you have expressed to me about the ability to participate in elections during the novel coronavirus (COVID19) pandemic. Ensuring that all Americans can still vote regardless of outside circumstances is a top priority for me.

 

During my time in Congress I have fought to maintain the integrity and openness of elections, and rarely has there been as great or as explicit a threat to voting as the one we see today. Even as our elected leaders and health experts urge social distancing and โ€œflattening the curve,โ€ people are forced to gather in large numbers in order to perform their civic duty and vote. Directing people to leave their houses to vote on an election day in the face of a pandemic is unsafe and unfair.

 

That is why organizing a complete vote-by-mail system is so important. The CARES Act, the third coronavirus relief package signed into law on March 27, included $400 million for election assistance to do just that. This funding will give states the ability to organize new systems and work out the logistics so that we can get vote-by-mail up and running as soon as possible.

 

Additionally, I believe that we have to recognize the importance of the United States Postal Service (USPS) in making vote-by-mail a reality: without USPS, there is no way to do it. That is why Democrats advocated for supplemental funding for USPS in the CARES Act and will continue to do so in the future.

 

Americans shouldnโ€™t have to choose between voting and their health. The ability to freely and safely express our values at the ballot box is the cornerstone of our democracy. Please know that I consider safeguarding Americansโ€™ ability to vote one of my most important jobs as a Congressman, and that I will continue to fight for just that moving forward.

These cases all failed but Scott was later made a free man by his so-called owners, the Blow family. Knowing this, we might feel that we don't need to look further for the origin of 'scott free'. Many people, especially in the USA, are convinced that the phrase originated with the story of Dred Scott.

You'll still have debt and you'll still make payments and you'll still live in a financial model of loan/borrow. The thing that's going to change is that it's going to become a 'Consumer oriented reward system' built on hard assets. For instance, when you make a loan, the creditor must have or get access to hard assets to fund your loan. While your loan is funded by this local banker, he can work with the hard asset that backs your loan (he can work with that money). So in short, they pay you to take a loan out and then make derivatives off the hard asset that backs your loan. The market will compete to pay you to take loans out. Think of the windfall coming for the consumer who is paid in hard currency to work to make the value of the currency real.

 

Stop thinking in terms of $$ signs and start thinking in terms of a market that greatly rewards hard work at every level.

Saudi Arabia, Russia Agree To Oil Output Cuts To Try To Bolster Crude Prices

 

Saudis agreed to slash 4 million barrels a day from its April production levels

Russia agreed to cut by 2 million barrels a day

Global oil consumption is expected to plunge by as much as 30 million barrels a day this month.

 

Saudi Arabia and Russia agreed on Thursday to cut their oil production in order to stem the plunge in crude prices caused by cratering global demand since the coronavirus outbreak.

 

During a video conference that included members of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and other oil producers, the Saudis agreed to slash 4 million barrels a day from its April production levels, while Russia agreed to cut by 2 million barrels a day.

 

The Wall Street Journal reported that Iraq and others have yet to agree on how much they will cut.

 

Bloomberg reported that OPEC-plus is expected to seek production cuts of 5 million barrels a day for Group of 20 nations at a meeting to be held on Friday.

 

Meanwhile, oil consumption is expected to plunge by as much as 30 million barrels a day this month.

 

โ€œThe supply and demand fundamentals are horrifying,โ€ said OPEC Secretary-General Mohammed Barkindo.

 

He added that the demand decline in the second quarter would amount to โ€œclose to 12 million [barrels a day] and expanding,โ€ which is โ€œunprecedented in modern times.โ€

 

However, the oil markets have not reacted favorably to the decisions. As of 2:45 p.m. EDT, West Texas Intermediate crude futures were down 8.45% to $22.97 per barrel, while Brent Crude was down 3.56% at $31.67.

 

โ€œMaybe the market was betting on a bit more in the volume than was announced,โ€ said Bjornar Tonhaugen, head of oil markets at consulting firm Rystad Energy. โ€œItโ€™s also lacking detail when it comes to the baseline level and whether the deal hinges on cooperation from other nations outside of OPEC-plus.โ€

 

Thus far, the U.S. has refused to cut its own oil production, although President Donald Trump said such reductions may happen due to falling oil demand.

So, I played around with the capital letters of the file name, EVLVWAESN, and I could make a three 7 letter words, and two of them stood out to me -"ENSLAVE" and "LEAVEN" and both leave two superfluous letters - V and W.

I admit that I have not looked into the spare letters, beyond the obvious of thinking of the Car Manufacturer.

Enslave caught my attention for obvious reasons, but the word leaven caught my attention because the only context that leaven I am familiar with is its counterpart - unleavened, which I am aware of, and I am a voracious wordsmith, is generally used to refer to bread,

It therefore seemed obvious to me that leaven had to do with the rising of the dough.

I decided to to a quick word search on leaven and have attached the definition.

So, one of the 7 letter words I found is enslave and the other is a raising agent, that is, it makes something rise.

Surely it's a major coincidence that it's going to be biblical and all roads lead to Easter and the Resurrection and one of the words is a raising agent.

Now, what does the V&W signify?

There were no hits on DDG for the capitalised letters.

Now it's time to look into the lowercase letters and solitary number.

I'm sure the fact that it's an 8 doesn't signify anything!

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rallied Thursday afternoon with shares of JPMorgan Chase and Boeing leading the way for the price-weighted average. The central bank also gave more details on its plans to buy investment-grade and junk bonds. Thursdayโ€™s announcement was enough to outweigh another massive jump in weekly jobless claims. More than 6 million Americans filed for unemployment benefits last week. (still think seeing those checks will be a pipe dream but it will NOT be down to POTUS as he is surrounded by snakes who's only goal is to not do anything for the people). Also think that the ultimate goal by (((them))) is to place all of our assets into the FRBNY and sell them to China on the cheap-but that is jmo. Gold got a juice upwards after the FRB went full retard earlier to day-it has closed at it's print time at the highest in 7 years but has given back a little of that since that time. Oil has been whip-sawed up, down and every which way and gave up yesterday's gain and shit the bed later on- See cap#3-that was nothing moar then an OPEC offical (Algerian) re-stating what everyone knew already. VP stated categorically that no talks would habben between them and us on the proposal to cut between 10-15m bpd. Russia can handle this a lot easier as they have virtually no external debt (compared to everyone else) so VP is in the drivers seat here and they all know it. Opec+, made up of Opec producers and allies including Russia, has been holding talks via video conference. The U.S. stock market will be closed Friday due to Good Friday.

"These programs we are using, under the laws, we do these, as I mentioned in my remarks, with the consent of the Treasury Secretary and the fiscal backing from the congress through the Treasury. And we are doing it to provide credit to households, businesses, state and local governments. As we are directed by the Congress. We are using that fiscal backstop to absorb any losses we have." "Our ability is limited by the law. We have to find unusual, and exigent circumstances and the Treasury Secretary has to agree, and we are using this fiscal backstop. There is really no limit on how much of that we can do other than meet the tests under the law as amended by Dodd-Frank".

 

and keep in mind that the FOMC is a committee that decides monetary policyโ€ฆnot Jerome Powell. They have to have a "vote" by this committee to implement things. If they do not want to co-operate then they can just say "we voted not to implement these recd's from Treasury"-waitโ€ฆTHAT is coming. They are playing nice at present but this will get ugly and the "independance" of the FOMC to the FRB's overall scope will come into play down the road.

This is an opinion and only that-don't think I know exactly what is going on here but I do not think the FRB would just "give it up" without a fight-this is an optical battle and it will continue on.'

Now this is going to re-ignite the Treasury has swallowed Muh FRB arguements again and the only thing I see here is that since the FRB is constrained by law (as JP has stated above) they have to get the permission of Treasury to roll these things out-and who does the Treasury Sec. report to?-POTUS. This has always been the case and Hank Paulson did a few things similar during the 2008 bailout because the law ALREADY EXISTED. What has been done is that a very public reporting relationship on oversight has been announced IN PUBLIC..that is all. The FRBNY will continue to print and drop the trillions of paper-money creation it always has done.

 

In other FRB news Federal bank regulators issue interim final rule for Paycheck Protection Program Facility which means they are removing the rules that hold these loans against the banks capital requirements.

Congress approved an additional $600 weekly payment for jobless workers as part of an unprecedented $2.3 trillion rescue package signed into law by President Donald Trump on March 27.

It could take several weeks for that money to filter through federal and state bureaucracies into the bank accounts of many of the millions of Americans who have been thrown out of work.

 

New Jersey also aims to get the payments out this week, though it may take longer, spokeswoman Angela Delli-Santi said.

 

New Jersey Gov. Murphy said over the weekend: 'Literally, we have systems that are 40-plus-years-old.

'There'll be lots of postmortems and one of them on our list will be how did we get here where we literally needed COBOL programmers?'

 

Missouri and Georgia plan to start sending out payments starting the week of April 12, officials said, and Indiana will start the week after that.

Even the ones that get close, typically just explode in the sky, which yes can cause shock waves, like Tunguska, but the majority of the damage is remote. Yes, they can affect weather, too. But we experience all types of storms on a regular basis, which pose greater threat than a tiny space rock could.

 

Also, nothing is ever on a direct collision course with our planet. Fake news media outlets who don't know piss about science run with something they heard and typically utilize the few ideas they have in their limited mental capabilities for selling headlines. Which they typically go with the "we're all going to die" fear porn for these types of "science" articles. In truth the asteroid will be VERY far away from our planet, which they then say something like, "well, it's a 'close call' in space termsโ€ฆ". And yes, if something comes within a MILLION miles from our planet, that is relatively "close", considering the sun is 90 MILLION miles away. And sure, the sun still has a tremendous impact on our planet even at that distance. However, the sun is incredibly big compared to our tiny space rock. But ya now what else? Our tiny space rock is incredibly huge compared to a tiny asteroid. Even if that asteroid is the size of a major city, which seems incredibly big to us tiny piss-ants. But we are nothing compared to space. Earth is a part of space. We lived here for quite some time. Asteroids and comets are also a part of space. We've dealt with them for quite some time.
