Facebook users should expect to pay for privacy, Sandberg says

 

Facebookโ€™s second in command Sheryl Sandberg said Friday that users wanting to opt out of having their data used by advertisers will have to pay for that assurance.

 

The comments came in the wake of revelations that the personal information of 87 million users had been inappropriately used by the data firm Cambridge Analytica in the 2016 election campaign, the New York Post reported.

 

While different forms of opt-out are already available on Facebook, an opt-out at the highest level โ€œwould be a paid product,โ€ Sandberg said during an interview on NBC's "Today" show, the Post reported.

 

Furthermore, Sandberg suggested that the public has not seen the last of Facebookโ€™s privacy scandal.

Feds seize Backpage.com, websites in enforcement action

PHOENIX โ€“ Federal law enforcement authorities seized online classified site Backpage.com and its affiliated websites known for listing adult escort services on Friday. A notice that appeared Friday afternoon at Backpage.com said the websites were seized as part of an enforcement action by the FBI, U.S. Postal Inspection Service and the Internal Revenue Service. The notice doesn't characterize or provide any details on the nature of the enforcement action.

CBS Phoenix affiliate KPHO reports that the FBI also confirmed Friday that agents raided the Sedona, Arizona, home of Michael Lacey, Backpage.com's founder.

Backpage.com lets users create posts to sell items, seek a roommate, participate in forums, list upcoming events or post job openings. It also known for listings adult escorts and other sexual services, and authorities say advertising related to those services has been extremely lucrative.

Last year, the creators of the website were charged with money laundering in California.

State prosecutors in California have said the website's chief executive Carl Ferrer and founders Michael Lacey and James Larkin illegally funneled money through multiple companies and created various websites to get around banks that refused to process transactions. They have pleaded not guilty.

Lacey and Larkin are former owners of the Village Voice and the Phoenix New Times, but retained ownership of Backpage.com.

A decade ago, they were arrested by then-Sheriff Joe Arpaio's office in 2007 for publishing information about a secret grand jury subpoena demanding information on its stories and online readers.

They won a $3.75 million settlement from county government as a result of their now-discredited arrests.

Similarly, some people/things/events have more than one name: HRC is also the 'Alice' in the SA Wonderland, for example.

 

So, We could already know who P is, but under another name or niQname. But who? No idea,

I find it useful to repost for what is most likely a new set of eyes on the chan workforce, something akin to a new shift on the assembly line. Weeks later he was charged with "defection" and other crimes, and in September 2012 he was sentenced to 15 years in prisonโ€”a lighter sentence than normal based on information he disclosed about his boss, regional Party chief Bo Xilai, the rising senior Communist leader who was later imprisoned for corruption.

 

Clinton, the State Department, and the Obama administration in general have regarded such operational secrecy as a nuisance and impediment to their work. Under President Obama, the administration suffered unprecedented leaks of intelligence and foreign policy information, notably from Wikileaks, which disclosed more than 250,000 State Department cables. Clinton also compromised secrets by using a private email server that the FBI believes likely was compromised by foreign spy services that intercepted data from her insecure email system.

 

Recently disclosed emails from Clintonโ€™s private server reveal the Wang Lijun defection was discussed in communications with aides, raising the possibility that the Chinese could have learned of her internal discussions of the case if they had obtained access to the email server.

 

"The FBI did find that hostile foreign actors successfully gained access to the personal email accounts of individuals with whom Clinton was in regular contact and, in doing so, obtained emails sent to or received by Clinton on her personal account," an FBI report states.

 

Had the defection remained secret, intelligence agencies could have conducted a clandestine "exfiltration" operation to spirit Wang out of the country, current and former intelligence officials said.

Got to say guys, put in an assfuck load of hours into multiple investigations for a very long time now on the chans and one thing that has rarely been brought up but needs to be brought up now again is how there is serious interference and bad connection to the states coming mainly from the UK.
