Hate to throw cold water on this, but it's not definitive proof that Maxwell was in custody prior to July 2. It's only proof that a criminal case was commenced on that date.

 

When a grand jury indictment is handed down, that creates authorization for an arrest to me made. The GJ indictment is held by the prosecuting attorney and the case is opened upon its filing and then "process" is issued. "Process" refers to the warrant or summons (in civil cases) that compels a defendant to appear. That's technically all this means.

 

Could she have been in custody? Possible. Is this proof of that? Not really. Sorry again, but I'd rather be correct about things, even when it doesn't make me happy.

Media Claim ‘Trump Rally’ Led to Tulsa Coronavirus Surge; Ignore Sharpton Rally, BLM Protests

 

The media are claiming that public health officials blamed President Donald Trump’s campaign rally last month in Tulsa, Oklahoma, for a local surge in coronavirus cases — even though they never did so, and there were other large public events.

 

The Associated Press ran the headline: “Health official: Trump rally ‘likely’ source of virus surge.”

 

But the story itself notes that Tulsa City-County Health Department Director Dr. Bruce Dart said that there were “several large events,” and never explicitly singled out the Trump rally:

 

Tulsa County reported 261 confirmed new cases on Monday, a one-day record high, and another 206 cases on Tuesday.

 

Although the health department’s policy is to not publicly identify individual settings where people may have contracted the virus, Dart said those large gatherings “more than likely” contributed to the spike.

 

“In the past few days, we’ve seen almost 500 new cases, and we had several large events just over two weeks ago, so I guess we just connect the dots,” Dart said.

 

The video of the press conference confirms that Dart stopped short of blaming the Trump rally explicitly.

 

In addition to Black Lives Matter protests outside the Trump rally, there were also protests earlier in the month.

 

And there was also a large rally for Juneteenth the day before the Trump rally, headlined by Al Sharpton — a fact that the AP story fails to mention.

About a mile away from the arena where President Trump will hold a Saturday rally, the Reverend Al Sharpton spoke to a field filled with people on the campus of Oklahoma State University – Tulsa, near where the city’s infamous 1921 race massacre took place.

 

Sharpton, one of several speakers for this year’s Juneteenth celebration in Tulsa, said “they tell their children that Lincoln freed the slaves. The fact is the slaves freed Lincoln.” He also rejected claims that protesters for the Black Lives Matter movement were violent.

 

“We are not violent, we’re fighting violence,” he said to the crowd.

 

White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany, when asked about the Tulsa public health official’s report at a press briefing, reiterated that the president and his team had followed Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines.

Seven TORTURE CHAMBERS & cells inside shipping containers discovered in Dutch police raid after crack of encrypted chat app

 

Six Dutch men have been arrested after a Franco-Dutch police operation to crack the EncroChat encrypted text app led authorities to seven shipping containers outfitted as grisly torture chambers and cells near the Belgian border.

Police arrested six men after snooping on their alleged plans to kidnap and take hostage fellow criminals, discussed in detail over EncroChat for months, Dutch authorities revealed on Tuesday. The kidnappers were apparently quite meticulous in their planning, with several “teams” preparing to snatch up their victims and one “observation team.” The authorities conducted their raid on June 22, swooping in right as it seemed the men were ready to strike – through their assumed victims had been tipped off by police and gone into hiding.

 

The men have been detained on suspicion of preparing for kidnapping, hostage taking, serious abuse and extortion, and participation in a criminal enterprise. Two of the suspects also face weapons charges. They have been ordered held for 90 days by the Amsterdam court.

 

Following the criminals’ digital trail led to the discovery of the horrific containers in Wouwse Plantage, which included six detention cells and one torture chamber outfitted with a dentists’ chair complete with restraints.

 

The detention cells were soundproofed, with handcuffs attached to the floors and ceilings, and torture tools like scalpels, saws, and pruning shears were found onsite. Heat-insulating foil covered the walls. A warehouse onsite concealed several stolen delivery vans and fast getaway cars.

 

Video of the police raid shows the heavily-armed team blasting open the warehouse door and finding the disturbing setup after breaking down other doors inside.

 

Another shed used by the group in Rotterdam contained over two dozen weapons, as well as police clothing, bulletproof vests, and other police accoutrements like flashing lights. Some 24 kilograms of MDMA was also found onsite. The selection of goods suggested the men intended to kidnap at least some of their victims by setting up roadblocks and pretending to be cops.

 

Some 800 arrests have been made across Europe since the decryption of EncroChat, which had 60,000 subscribers and was based in France, promising “worry-free secure communications” to its users.

 

According to the UK’s National Crime Agency, however, it was a “criminal marketplace” used by gangs around the world for money laundering, selling drugs and other illicit merchandise, and plotting against rival gangs. The raids based on information from EncroChat have led to over 27 tons of drugs seized in the UK and Netherlands.

Dem Campaign Consulting Firms Took Millions In PPP Loans As They Cashed In On 2020 Election

 

Democratic campaign consultants have received millions in federal coronavirus relief funds even as they’ve taken in a windfall of fees from Democratic candidates and committees, according to government records released on Monday.

 

Multiple firms working with Joe Biden's campaign—including Anzalone Research Inc. and Blue Wave Political Partners—received substantial loans from the Trump administration’s Paycheck Protection Program.

 

Greenberg, Quinlan, Rosner (GQR), a political research firm founded by Bill Clinton’s longtime pollster Stanley Greenberg, also benefited from the PPP loan program while taking in millions from Democratic clients, according to Federal Election Commission records.

 

These companies applied for loans despite the fact that 2020 is a presidential election year, a time that tends to be lucrative for the political consulting industry. All but one of these firms brought in significantly more campaign-related income in the 2020 election cycle than in the 2018 cycle, FEC reports show.

 

Ethics watchdogs criticized the money-grab by campaign consultants, noting that the program was intended to benefit small companies that are struggling from the economic fallout of the coronavirus pandemic.

 

"We knew this would happen as programs like PPP tend to benefit well-connected individuals and firms, leaving the neediest scrambling for the scraps connected firms left behind," said Tom Anderson, director of the National Legal and Policy Center’s Government Integrity Project.

 

Anzalone Research received between $350,000 and $1 million in PPP loans in April, while Belardi Wong ALC and Chapman, Cubine, and Hussey Inc. each took in between $1 million and $2 million. Anzalone Research and Belardi Wong have both been paid over $400,000 by the Biden campaign, according to FEC records. Chapman, Cubine, and Hussey has been paid over $1.7 million by Biden.

 

FEC records show all three firms earned more from campaign work in the current election cycle than in the 2018 cycle. Anzalone Research was paid $2.8 million between January 2019 and May 2020, a slight increase from $2.3 million during the same time period in 2017 and 2018. Belardi Wong earned $866,000 from 2020 campaign spending, nearly 10 times as much as the prior cycle. Chapman, Cubine, and Hussey’s campaign income more than quadrupled, from $1.4 million to $6.3 million.

GARDENA (CBSLA) — A security guard who authorities say shot a man after they fought over him not wearing a mask has been charged with murder, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

 

Umeir Hawkins, 38, and his wife, Sabrina Carter, 50, both of Los Angeles, were arrested Monday in connection with the murder of 50-year-old Jerry Lewis of Gardena. Lewis was pronounced dead Sunday evening at a store in the 2300 block of Rosecrans Avenue.

 

Police say Hawkins was an employee of the store Lewis had visited while waiting for a tow truck. According to the District Attorney’s office, Lewis had tried to enter the market without a mask and started arguing with Hawkins. Lewis left the store, then returned and began physically fighting with Hawkins.

 

Carter, who had been waiting in the parking lot for Lewis to finish work, armed herself with a handgun and intervened in the fight by pointing it at Lewis and other customers, according to Gardena police. As Lewis walked away from the store toward his vehicle, police say Hawkins took out a second firearm and shot Lewis as he was walking away.

 

According to the prosecutors both Hawkins and Carter were convicted in 2013 for assault by means of force likely to produce great bodily injury. Hawkins has been charged with murder, and both he and his wife are also facing a count each of possession of a handgun by a felon.

 

Hawkins is being held on $1 million bail, and he faces a possible maximum sentence of 50 years to life in state prison. Bail was set at $35,000 for Carter, who faces three years in prison if convicted as charged.

China’s ambassador to Canada said Canadians should prepare for retaliation after Ottawa protested the Asian nation’s security crackdown in Hong Kong.

The Canadian government condemned the crackdown, and on Friday announced it was suspending its extradition agreement with Hong Kong, as well as military or “dual use” exports — such as equipment used by police to quell pro-democracy demonstrations in the city.

 

Canada’s foreign affairs minister, François-Philippe Champagne, has accused the Chinese government of “coercive diplomacy” and “arbitrary detention” — a reference to Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor, two Canadians who have languished in Chinese detention for more than 570 days and are now facing espionage charges. IDF Chief of Staff Maj.-Gen. Aviv Kochavi's helicopter nearly crashed, Israel's N12 revealed on Wednesday night, when it took off from the Knesset towards the Tel Nof military air force base and both engines were turned off.

According to the report, the malfunction occurred immediately after take-off of the Black Hawk helicopter, a medium utility helicopter manufactured by Sikorsky Aircraft with two engines altogether.

The pilots of the helicopter performed a drill of sorts in order to switch between engines but had accidentally turned both engines off, leading to the steady drop of the aircraft. The pilots managed to reactivate the proper engine when the helicopter was a mere 30 meters from the ground.

The pilots further deviated from protocol when, instead of making an emergency landing, they continued their flight with the helicopter operating on one engine alone and landed in Tel Nof as planned.

Air Force Command is consequently investigating the severity of the incident. The helicopter, at the end of the flight, landed safely and posed no threat to its passengers, according to the IDF Spokesperson's Unit.

US Attorney General Launches Operation to Combat Surge in Violence in Kansas City

 

US Attorney General William Barr is launching an operation to counter a surge of violence in the state of Missouri's Kansas City, where homicides are up by 40 percent, the Justice Department said in a press release.

 

"Today, Attorney General William P. Barr announced the launch of Operation Legend, a sustained, systematic and coordinated law enforcement initiative across all federal law enforcement agencies working in conjunction with state and local law enforcement officials to fight the sudden surge of violent crime, beginning in Kansas City, MO", the release said on Wednesday.

 

According to the release, more than a hundred federal agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, US Marshals Service, Drug Enforcement Agency, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives will provide substantial support to state and local officials as they aim to counter the surge in violence.

 

Furthermore, US Attorney for the Western District of Missouri Timothy Garrison will ensure additional resources are available to take on the expected increase in prosecutions, the release said.

 

Kansas City has had 100 homicides so far this year, which is a 40 percent increase compared to the same period last year, the release noted.

A “perfect storm” of surging government debt levels, plunging real bond yields, rising coronavirus cases and deteriorating economic forecasts pushed the price of gold to an eight-year high last week, and

some analysts now project the metal to top its all-time high within the next 12 months.

What drove the yellow metal’s price action was not just an alarming rise in confirmed virus infections—U.S. cases hit a new single-day record of more than 42,255 on Friday—but also a weakening U.S. dollar. The greenback declined the most in three weeks as the yen and euro strengthened amid gains in global shares.

 

Looking more long term, gold continues to find support from negative yields, both real and nominal. The amount of negative-yielding government bonds around the world rose back above $13 trillion last week for the first time since March. The high of $18 trillion was set in August of last year.

 

The real 10-year Treasury yield traded as low as negative 0.66 percent last Tuesday, a level we haven’t seen since May 2013. As I’ve shown a number of times before, gold trades inversely to bond yields, and when they turn negative, it’s like rocket fuel for the yellow metal.

 

IMF Lowers Its 2020 Economic Growth Forecast. More Money-Printing Ahead?

Meanwhile, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) lowered its economic growth forecast for 2020. The world economy is now projected to plunge nearly 5 percent this year, a downward adjustment of 1.9 percentage points from the IMF’s April forecast.

 

“The COVID-19 pandemic has had a more negative impact on activity in the first half of 2020 than anticipated, and the recovery is projected to be more gradual than previously forecast,” IMF economists wrote in the June 24 report.

 

This could spur even more monetary and fiscal stimulus from world central banks and governments, which is already unprecedented. The Bank of England (BoE) recently added to its bond-buying program, and the Federal Reserve has signaled that it will be keeping rates near zero.

 

Get this: As of right now, the Fed’s balance sheet stands at $7 trillion, or 33 percent of U.S. GDP. And earlier this month, the Treasury’s public debt soared past $26 trillion, an incredible 120 percent of the entire U.S. economy.

 

This isn’t sustainable, obviously, and some analysts now see dollar-denominated gold hitting a new all-time high in the next 12 months, even in a risk-on environment. Both Morgan Stanley MS +3% and Citigroup C +1.1% maintain their call for $2,000 gold by mid-2021.

 

London-based research firm Edison goes even further. In a note dated June 23, analysts there commented that gold should be near $1,900, “with the potential for this to rise to in excess of $3,000.”

 

Gold’s Best Year Ever (So Far) in Dollar Terms

So far in 2020, physical gold is comfortably the best performing major asset. It’s outperformed not just the S&P 500 but also the U.S. dollar, emerging markets, Treasuries and high-yield corporate bonds.

 

In fact, this is gold’s best year ever so far in dollar terms. The chart below shows you all the highest highs (the red line) and lowest lows (teal line) between January and December from the past 10 years. The yellow line is gold’s price action in 2020, and as you can see, it’s trading higher at this point than it ever has in the month of June.

Historically, June has been a relatively weak month for gold, making it a good time to consider adding the metal to your portfolio in anticipation of seasonal asset appreciation. India, the world’s second largest purchaser of gold after China, has two big events coming up that in years past have pushed the metal’s price higher thanks to increased demand. I’m talking, of course, about Diwali and the Indian wedding season, both of which I’ve written and spoken about numerous times.

 

The question this year, though, is how much of an impact the pandemic will have on these huge cultural celebrations, and if gold will see a difference.

 

Will COVID-19 Derail the $50 Billion Indian Wedding Season?

Like the U.S., India just had its biggest one-day spike in new coronavirus cases, with approximately 20,000 reported on Monday. The Asian country is the fourth worst affected country after the U.S., Brazil and Russia, and its death toll is the eighth worst.

Although this may end up being the case, it’s worth remembering that gold still plays a massive role in many other corners of Indian culture. Indians still save in gold, with as much as 75 percent of Indian savings invested in the precious metal, according to Incrementum. Private households in the country are estimated to be the single largest gold hoarders in the world, with some 24,000 metric tons. That’s more than three times the amount the U.S. has in its official.

 

There could also be some good news thanks to a healthy monsoon season, which begins this month and continues through September. It’s been estimated that a third of Indian gold demand comes from rural farmers, whose crop revenue depends on the rains delivered by a good monsoon.

 

This year the monsoon is forecast to be normal, and already Indian sugar producers are having an excellent season, with exports at a record volume for the second year in a row. I believe this is constructive for gold demand.

Portland, OR—Governor Kate Brown today announced that she will appoint Michael L. Schmidt as District Attorney of Multnomah County, effective August 1. Mr. Schmidt recently won election as District Attorney for a term that starts in January 2021. Portland, OR—Governor Kate Brown today announced that she will be convening a Healthy Early Learners Council to advise her and the Early Learning Division (ELD) on guidance for the reopening and ongoing operation of early learning and child care programs during the COVID-19 pandemic. The work of this Council will align with the work of the Early Learning System strategic plan, Raise Up Oregon , the Governor’s Early Learning Council, and the Joint Taskforce on Access to Quality Affordable Child Care.

 

The early childhood education sector, including early learning and child care programs, faces unique challenges in the midst of COVID-19, given the limited ability for children and staff to maintain physical distancing, the potential child development implications of staff wearing face coverings in this environment, and the increased cleaning protocols that programs must implement without professional support.

 

“As anyone with young children at home knows, Oregon's early learning educators and child care providers have their work cut out for them tending to health, safety, and learning during this pandemic," said Governor Brown. "Through the work of the Healthy Early Learners Council, we will help ensure the health and well-being of Oregon’s young children returning to early learning and child care programs – as well as the dedicated professionals who serve them.”

 

The Council, which will meet over the next several months, will be charged with:

• Aligning reopening guidance for children birth through age 8 – including child care, preschool/pre-kindergarten, and Early Intervention/Early Childhood Special Education programs – grounded in equity and the science of child development;

• Informing revised guidance issued by the Early Learning Division and the Oregon Health Authority to support early childhood program operations with health and safety in mind;

• Advising on policies to support providers’ and children’s developmental, physical, and mental health needs, including addressing challenging behaviors when returning to care and preventing increases in suspension and expulsion, particularly for young children of color; and

• Recommendations for the health and well-being of young children and their families during COVID-19, in collaboration with the Early Learning Council.

 

The Council will include elected officials, child care providers, early learning providers, public health experts, and parents, with a focus on ensuring that a wide and diverse range of community voices are represented. A full roster of members will be available prior to the Council’s first meeting in July.

In order to ensure all community voices are represented, the council includes state and local officials, public health experts, public members from a diverse range of backgrounds, and members from the education community, including representatives of students, parents, support staff, school administrators, school board members, teachers, counselors, and school nurses.

“I am forming a Public Safety Training and Standards Task Force to complete a full review of law enforcement training, certification, and decertification practices. I would like to thank the Task Force members for stepping up to this call, and I look forward to reviewing the recommendations they put forward.”

 

The Task Force is charged with recommending to the Governor improvements in the training and certification of Oregon law enforcement officers. To complete its charge, members of the Task Force will:

• Review current Oregon statutes and administrative rules on police training and certification.

• Identify gaps in current statute, administrative rules, and policies governing officer training and certification.

• Recommend how to apply best practices, research and data to officer training and certification.

• Provide recommendations on how to best incorporate concepts of racial equity into officer training and certification requirements.

• Provide recommendations on use of force training, including best practices of how to incorporate concepts of officer use of the least amount of necessary force to accomplish a lawful objective and de-escalation during a use of force event.

• Provide recommendations on the composition of the Board on Public Safety Standards and Training and how to include additional public participation and inclusion of communities of color.

• Provide recommendations on statutory requirements for officer decertification.

 

The Task Force will provide a written report of its recommendations and findings to the Governor by November 1, 2020.

Brandywine Building a step away from sheriff's sale

After a tumultuous 10 years for Wilmington’s commercial real estate market, the owner of a distinctive downtown high rise is in default on a once-$52 million loan.

The default sends the 18-story Brandywine Building and the adjacent 7-story Tatnall parking garage into a court-appointed receivership, the step before a sheriff sale, according to recent court documents.

"Defendants are in default…of their obligations under the loan documents for… failing to timely pay outstanding labor and material costs incurred in connection with the mortgaged property," stated a May lawsuit, which precipitated the default action last month.

The suit is over the $30 million principal left on the original loan, which was signed in 2002. Defendants are two Delaware entities – Brandywine Office Investment LLC and Tatnall Garage Investment LLC.

Both are listed at 322 A. Street in Wilmington, the headquarters of the Buccini/Pollin Group, one of Delaware's largest land owners and developers.

David Pollin, Christopher Buccini, and Robert Buccini also were listed as guarantors on the loan, according to court documents.

But, neither BPG nor its owners, are a party in the case, said Michael Hare, a senior vice president at the company.

BPG sold "to a partner" all but 4 percent of ownership in the buildings, just after the loan was signed in October, 2002, Hare said. With that sale, the buyers assumed the obligations of paying the loan attached to the properties, he said.

“It’s certainly not a peanuts dispute, it’s significant, but we are not the ownership entity,” Hare said. “The lender now has a judgement and the lender has a right to take this to sheriff sale.”

The buyer, which Hare later confirmed was Wafra Investment Advisory Group, “did not want the buildings, so they did not contest the foreclosure,” he said.

Wafra, which has offices in New York City, is owned by the government of Kuwait. Wafra officials did not respond to a request for comment on this story.

Asked why the limited liability companies still are listed at BPG offices, Hare said: "if we sold interest in the LLC, and the LLC was registered here, that address wouldn't change."

"We have not been involved in the operations for some time," he said.

Although BPG does own a small portion of the buildings, Hare did not immediately have a current assessment of their market values.

He did say that 41 percent of the Brandywine Building's offices are currently occupied. Occupants include Citi Financial Group. A lighted "Citi" sign sits facing Interstate 95 on top of the 405,844-square-foot building.

It is located at 1000, North West Street in downtown Wilmington. The Tatnall Garage, which has 660 parking spaces, is located at 208 West 12th Street.

The Brandywine Building incurred a loss of $35,386 between January and July 2017, according to a financial report filed on Thursday in U.S. District Court in Delaware.

An attorney for the current owner of the loan, U.S. Bank National Association, did not respond to calls and emails seeking comment.The original lender was the now-defunct Bear Stearns Commercial Mortgage Inc.

in 2009, during the recession, the loan on the Brandywine Building and the nearby garage was placed with a special mortgage servicer because of "imminent default," according to a report from Fitch Ratings, a global rating agency at the time.

The loan was flagged because it was part of a commercial mortgage-backed security, in which many mortgages are pooled, rated and sold to investors. A master servicer manages the pooled mortgages. Individual loans in a commercial mortgage-backed security are transferred to a special servicer when there is any danger of default, experts said.

In 2010, Robert Buccini said the loan was not in danger of default.

The News Journal reported at the time that the building had been running a roughly $700,000 annual deficit.

Today, the city's office space market also has been struggling, with downtown buildings posting an 18 percent vacancy rate in 2015, compared with 15 percent in the suburbs surrounding Wilmington.

Hare said the default would not likely harm the greater downtown commercial real estate market. He declined to comment on whether BPG might purchase the properties in the future.

"What really impacts the real estate market is occupancy," he said.

A candidate for district attorney in Oregon’s biggest county—Multnomah, home of Portland—is calling on public authorities to act now to stop the COVID-19 pandemic’s dangerous spread in jails and prisons. Mike Schmidt wants the police to make fewer arrests, DAs to charge fewer cases, and jail and prison administrators to release people who have three months or less to serve.

 

“If I was DA right now, my concern would be public safety,” Schmidt told me. “And it is public safety to get people out of incarceration, so we don’t have the virus rip through the walls and then boomerang back onto our communities, frontline staff, people whose families are impacted. … We need to limit every single way we’re bringing people back into the system.” He currently works as the executive director of the Criminal Justice Commission, a state agency.

 

Oregon is still scheduled to vote for its district attorneys in May. The state’s vote-by-mail system makes its elections less vulnerable to the current public health crisis than those of other states.

 

In a state where DAs have remained largely impermeable to reform politics, the contrasts in Multnomah County’s two-way race are surprisingly significant. The incumbent, Rod Underhill, is not seeking re-election. Running to replace him are Ethan Knight, an assistant U.S. attorney who broadly favors staying the course, and Schmidt, a former prosecutor himself, who thinks the next DA should champion major statutory changes to Oregon’s criminal legal system.

If the press briefings are scripted, then the media is told specifically WHAT TO SAY to harass Trump, and Kayleigh is given the witty comebacks. It's PURE ENTERTAINMENT… but for who?

 

You guys think maybe it's possible both the left's lunacy and the right's pro-liberty response are scripted? Look at the general direction we are going in and the current state of this country. Expand your thinking. Ignore what everyone is saying, (yes, even Q), and ask yourself… who's winning? If this were a basketball game, who's got more points on the scoreboard?
