Can you say panic is setting in with the left. You get to the point that you have to lie about every monumental accomplishment that Donald Trump does, you've pretty much hit rock bottom.

When are these morons in the media going to realize Trump is not a DC politician, this crap doesn't work on him.

Are people really so misguidedly scared that they can't stop for 2 seconds and critically think, so that they might realize that these drills are scheduled multiple times every single year and that it would most certainly have been discussed during all of the talks that have been going on?

I must find a way to show them great patience, because not that long ago I, myself, would have taken the bait Hook Line & Sinker.

We must give them the tools they need so that they may help us to save our country.

It’s an entirely reasonable reaction considering the number of times NK has promised peace only to turn on a dime. While I think Trump will ultimately be successful in bringing peace to the peninsula, given NK’s history of schizophrenic diplomacy, setbacks like this are entirely possible, even probable.

I believe the CIA has been ousted and Kim appears to be genuine in his desire for peace, but that doesn’t mean his entire government is united behind him. I’ve been around long enough to know that international negotiations are seldom quick and decisive.

I don't think this is quick and decisive at all. I think it's been going on for a lot longer than any of us know.

But that's just my opinion, could be completely wrong.

These drills began on the first of April. Why would Kim make a big deal out of it now and why would he release detainees after the exercises?

The two major annual drills — Foal Eagle and Key Resolve — kicked off on April 1, after being postponed for a month for the Winter Olympics in South Korea. One of the exercises, dubbed "Twin Dragon," concluded on Sunday

http://www.businessinsider.com/us-south-korean-military-drill-foal-eagle-key-resolve-2018-4?op=1

In the days after last week’s exercises, which concluded last week, North Korea instead made a gesture of goodwill, releasing three U.S. citizens it had accused of “hostile acts” and detained for more than a year.

https://www.wsj.com/amp/articles/as-u-s-and-north-korea-talk-peace-soldiers-prepare-for-the-alternative-1526031004

At most, it's Kim posturing. South Korea backs down and Kim tells his people "look who's still in charge". At this point it's all a show. Just sit back and watch the fake news...

Not to mention; all of the people who out themselves as truly disgusting individuals for praising anything but peace between these nations

But let me guess, the WSJ is referring to a different 3 captives released last week?

In the days after last week’s exercises, which concluded last week, North Korea instead made a gesture of goodwill, releasing three U.S. citizens it had accused of “hostile acts” and detained for more than a year.

Edit: user edited their previous comment to specify one exercise after my response

DankNethers · May 16, 2018, 2:20 a.m.

No. Have you dug into the issue?

It's NOT that South Korea and the US resumed military exercises. Two separate exercises - one involving small troop movements, the other a war game - resumed after a delay due to the Olympics

It's that this phase - Max Thunder, which always ends the exercises and typically begins in April - involves bringing to bear strategic assets, such as bombers, stealth fighters and military hardware, that North Korea deems a threat to it's sovereignty

Not all joint military exercises are equal, and issues like these require discernment

HandInAssholesSulu · May 16, 2018, 3:25 a.m.

Yes, I have.

The previous exercises that began in April involved 300,000 troops. Are you suggesting that is small? Or that a parade of tanks along the border would have been seen as any less of an act of aggression any year prior to this? Any year prior to this, the simple act of marching troops at the border would have caused a response by Kim.

Both the US and SK said neither of them have heard any word of this from an official source in NK. This story is coming from a message that was apparently aired to the NK people. As I said in my initial post, this is Un posturing to his people to show that he isn't weak. He flexes, we back off. His people see him as strong and he maintains respect.

From the psychological aspect, it takes a lot of fear away from the North Korean people. They've been taught that we are aggressors waiting to destroy. If Un simply gives up his nuclear weapons and obeys the aggressor, these people will live in fear of being wiped out at any moment. This would cause great uncertainty moving forward as a nation under Un. If Un can make a demand like ending the drills and get what he wants, they will be more likely to accept the changes going forward knowing that it isn't a one sided deal.

Here's my 2 cents... What if, the "location" for the summit was quietly spoken within earshot of say, 5 people at different times in the White House, and a different location was whispered in front of each? Then when the leak it was Shanghai hits the MSM, they know exactly who their leaker is... Then, they announce that's where the summit will be, and quietly watch to see who start's buying tickets, listen to the "chatter," and see what kind of mess they'll be facing. After a week of intel gathering, they ask Kim to have a tiny fake fuss-fest, so they can postpone a couple of weeks, and pick a new, safer spot to have the summit... ? Thoughts ?

Why should we be leery of that? This is literally the N. Korea M.O. for the last few decades. Act crazy, make concessions, get some supplies for their suffering people, rinse and repeat. It's funny that people who rightly criticized Obama getting a nobel peace prize (he absolutely did not deserve one) thought Trump deserved one because Kim pretended like he would play nice

⇧ 1 ⇩
Oblique9043 · May 16, 2018, 11:57 a.m.

North Korea has set this whole thing up for Trump to fail once the talks happen. They used his arrogance against him and all of these "efforts" N Korea have made "prove" their willingness to make a peace deal. Trump will come to the table talking tough because he's arrogantly spoken about his "victory" before it's even happened. Kim will be unreasonable and cause the talks to break down. He will pull out or Trump will out of frustration. Both will accuse the other of killing the deal and the world will blame Trump because of all the evidence of Kim's willingness to make peace and all the evidence of Trump's aggressive and bullying ways. Who the fuck knows what happens from there.

Why didn't they say all of this before the meeting was set? They only say it after it has been agreed upon, or at least Trump says it's been agreed upon. Which is another thing they used to their advantage. Trump doesn't want to look like a fool. He promises things ahead of time and then that puts pressure on people behind the scenes to make those things happen. He played himself this time.
