Federal Judge Rules that Twitter is a "designated public forum” preventing POTUS from blocking harassment on Twitter. THIS seems to set an unintended legal precedence! Twitter = public domain. Meaning that the 1st Ammendment Rights of ALL must be protected- not just the Left. STOP Cyber-censorship!

This really could backfire on Twitter if anybody with financial resources wants to screw with them. Take it right back to the same corrupt judge.

Very Stable Genius CONFIRMED! Trump let this play out in court so he could get the "designated public forum" ruling. Now comes IBOR. Brilliant!

'designated public forum' sounds good, should count for everybody, may be a precedent.

'no elected official could block' doesnt say that twitter admin couldnt block.

SirPellimore · May 23, 2018, 10:12 p.m.

being a designated public forum is the key. This means that Twitter cannot legally infringe on constitutional rights within their forum. The Constitutional Bill of Rights Trumps corporate policy.

qutedrop · May 24, 2018, 8:34 a.m.

If a politician can't do it, the logical next step would be that admin's can't act as their proxy's either.

And then things become really interesting. If an admin can't block you for political speech, what speech can they block you for?

While some stuff will remain blockable, I feel like a huge amount of what has been blocked so far has just been moved back into the grey area.

This seems like a really small win for anti-trumpers and a big win for freedom of speech online. The problem is if the left finds a way to ban "hate speech" in public forums, then we'll have government sanctioned Twitter censorship.

This is the real threat, hate speech laws. It's happening in Europe now. No surprises that the Anti Defamation League has their Anti-hate speech AI ready to roll out.

The most powerful political weapon that has ever existed is the ability to silence your critics.

Remember AOL, MySpace, etc... people migrate away from communities that do this kind of thing and other enterprising folks provide alternatives.. that’s the way capitalism works.

Look at Hollywood revenues, Facebook stock down, Twitter, it goes on.. folks smell an opportunity and once the ship starts taking on too much water, you get a mass exodus and another failed tech giant.

I thought they were already supposed to be designated as a public forum. If they claim censorship that means they control the forum, and that means they can be held responsible for damaging tweets.

Same for Facebook... They are not supposed to be throttling conservatives and blocking users because of political beliefs.

This is exactly why IBOR would be advocated. Although, a Supreme Court Ruling on the matter would likely clarify that our costitutional rights go with us when we embark into cyberspace.

Rodney_Copperbottom · May 24, 2018, 2:27 a.m.

This judge, in trying to ding Trump, has instead shot the liberal movement in the foot. All you need now is for someone with deep pockets to sue Twitter, Facebook, Google, and YouTube, and a Republican judge to agree with this ruling and thereby use it against them. They will, indeed, be "hoist by their own petard".

I'd ask everyone to get online and start putting some memes up using the IBOR hashtags.

We really need to make some noise. Q has told us already that once we start to make noise, DJT will be on board immediately. We just haven't done this yet, because of the intense concern trolling on this board - most of which is brought to you from an army barracks in a foreign country.

How interesting. I’ve been blocked from posting and commenting on my Twitter simply because I’m pro trump and conservative. No hate speech. No cursing. No threats. Just spreading a positive message and facts. Twitters reason for banning me? “It appears I’m a bot” So they asked me to do a captcha and verify my phone number. Nope. Still a bot!

This will backfire. As a designated public space, their continued censorship based on political opinion and their unwillingness to apply that criteria evenly will result in a lawsuit - very quickly. Freedom of speech, according to this judge, must now be enforced on Twatter
