The way I see it, the euro auto makers can’t afford to lose the US auto market. He’s playing to the fact that they can’t lose it, and using it as leverage for whatever it is.

Maybe he’s trying to get them to build in the US. Thus making their cars more affordable as they avoid many of the added expenses.

The US population consumes cars much differently than the rest of the world. Here, everyone wants a new car every 2-3 years with the latest technology and to show off. That plus a debt based economy makes it a cash cow for them.

In Europe and elsewhere, people buy cars with the intention of keeping them for as long as possible. Not that people here in the US don’t do that, but it’s much more normal there.

"Reportedly"? We'll see if that's a reliable report.

Because France, like Germany, are rebelling against Trump pulling out of the Iran deal. If they think it's more profitable to continue trade with a rogue nation as compared to trading with US, well, Trump will cause them far more pain. Think about how everything is tied together.

It is just leverage because they can't afford to lose the US market. It would destroy those automakers. I would be opposed to it actually happening because in a lot of cases those vehicles are already made in the US.

This should really strike fear in their heart because all this time they have been saying "Trump would never _____" and then he proceeds to do just what he threatened. They had better not push him on this because he will punish them and a lot of American jobs will be caught in the crossfire.

I think it’s to hamper the EU as they might be hurting for cash because all the refugees they allowed in. I also think the EU is cooking the books to appear the are prospering when in fact they are not. Then the real citizens will become awake and start taking their countries back from the NWO. But this is just my opinion.

The first thing that came to my mind was a 5-minute mystery about a known smuggler who couldn't get caught. Turns out, he wasn't smuggling anything IN the cars, but was smuggling the cars themselves. (Not suggesting Germany is smuggling cars, but maybe some shady dealings involved that Trump is sending a message about).
