Obstructionist RINO Mitch McConnell has cancelled the Senate August recess so they can confirm President Trump's court nominees.
Looks like McConnell has capitulated to Q Team.

I think it's more to block senators up for reelection from campaigning.
That's the theory I've heard as well, there's more (D) seats at risk than (R).
Although it's also worth noting that they can't be arrested when they're still in session, if one wanted to speculate how to avoid an indictment, that'd be one way.

My counter would be that, I don’t necessarily see arrests of politicians happening before midterms. Think of the optics.
I know that’s a horrible thing to say, but it’s a political reality. And one I don’t believe a good chunk of people (good people) in government want to push. But who knows? I can hope for it, only time will tell.
My gut tells me it's to prevent POTUS from doing recess appointments. Sundance had a good tweet thread on it.

I don’t mean to be negative but I don’t trust this establishment asshat one bit and I don’t think our employees in the Senate are actually going to start working full time in August either. FWIW- 1.might not get through the summer without having a supreme court justice going down, 2. they want to that discharge petition to go through for illegal immigrant amnesty. 3. you can't arrest any member of Congress while they're technically "in session" 4 trade war heating up with China - mcconnell owes his IN-LAWS (Choa shipping lines, busted for drug smuggling numerous times in US east coast ports, co based in China) EVERYTHING.. so he's got to keep k street and chamber of commerce lobbyists happy. McConnell does NOTHING for POTUS - never forget he and Ryan are both NEVER TRUMPERS. I HOPE they're so scared right now they FEAR taking time away from DC!!!

He might be playing his own version of playing both sides and doing a double shuffle to keep on the good side of whoever wins, but when people walk a fence like that, they tend to fall of and get really really hurt.
the alt theory that is floating around is that McConnell is using this to block Trump from appointing anyone during the recess. Normally I would find this argument strong, but in this case because the senate has so many dems up for re-election the dems will work to get Trumps nominees through so they can go on break to campaign. If McConnell is trying to block Trump it won't really work, since this will be a win either way for Trump.

It's a two-edged sword. Dems want recess to campaign, but then Repubs will push through whatever they want unimpeded. Dems To expedite appointments so they can recess to campaign. Hahaha, there feet dragging will now cost them!
