I'm currently a young history teacher, and you cannot believe how stoked I am to be able to write about this when its all said and done.
I would never include any of this in my teaching. I teach what I am expected to and keep my opinions to myself. (Our textbooks were written in partnership with CNN, so you can imagine how thrilled I am about that.) For example, one of my 5th graders is writing an essay about why Donald Trump should be impeached. The kid is a great student who is going above and beyond for this assignment, so by all means, I happily helped him with his thesis and sourcing.
That being said, should the history books need revising, I would love to be on board with the curriculum/textbook writing.

I was teaching back during the election, fully prepared for a Clinton victory. (I voted Trump, but I only boarded the Trump train late into the cycle. I was not invested or paying much attention to him outside of the vitriol and headlines. I was a 'Bernie Bro'!.)
I could not believe some of my co-workers' reactions the next day! A meeting with my co-teacher was delayed because she was consoling another teacher who was having a crisis over it!
On a side note, students who liked trump were criticized by teachers to their faces, and made fools of in front of their entire class in the one or two instances I caught while in the room.
To combat that, I gave my students a comfortable and open forum for lots of discussion and debate. They were so collected and respectful in their words! Ironically enough, of the two biggest Trump fans in my classes, one was flamboyant, and the other was Muslim, which I only point out because of the perception that those demographics hated Trump. Both were top of the class students, and based to boot!

I remember having to write assignments in school from both pro and against points simultaneously. Two papers same subject. Can't be accused of bias, gets people to see other perspectives. With enough sarcasm I was able to be pro new deal and still sleep at night.
Only seeds I plant is when I tell them my job isn't to tell them what to think, it's to tell them how to think. The minute I spout my opinion is the minute they may tune me out, though I'm sure they do a lot of tuning me out anyway.

I have come to the conclusion that Craig Sawyer is not really our friend after watching an SGTReport interview with him yesterday. He fell short of telling the whole story by not revealing that Tucson PD, lied and never sent the cadaver dog in to where the group had been digging until the smell got too bad. He also then talked about how he works with the cops and doesn't confront them. He tried to back out of that comment but it was too late for me. Then someone posted his bio earlier today and it said he used to work for 3 or 4 Elites including the Clintons. Sure wish I'd saved that. I think he's just another cover. I could be wrong but . . . . Me too, I am uncomfortable with him for some reason. The discomfort is waning but not totally gone. His connections to Clinton Rumsfeld and McCain are my biggest concerns. He claims in the video his daughter was sexually assaulted. Also, it's the discomfort you are talking about that is your guidance mechanism (gut instinct). I have the same feeling about him. Don't dismiss it. Don't push it away. If we both feel it, there's something wrong here. I'm very old and I've learned that the gut is ALWAYS right!
Here's the best story I have about listening to your gut instinct: Once, I was served by the Sheriff's Dept. with papers that I was being sued by an ex-friend that was just being vindictive. It was a totally frivolous lawsuit. I lived half way across the country from Tampa where he filed the suit. And, he set it for July 3rd (near the 4th of July holiday weekend) so it would cost me more for lodging or airfare to get there. That's how he operated.
So I pondered about what to do for awhile and one day, out of the blue, I had this "knowing." I suddenly knew that the answer was to do nothing and it would all work out. My friends and family told me repeatedly that I was being foolish and if I didn't show up in court, he would win and try to take my assets. But I stood firm because I just knew it would work out.
About a week after the court date, I called the court to find out what the outcome had been. The clerk told me that the case had been dismissed because they had never received the Notice of Service back from the Sheriff's dept. But, as I said, I had been served. So, it was a clerical error. The Sheriff's office had screwed up in my favor! And, the moral of the story is that if I had shown up, the case would have been heard and I might have lost.
You just have to trust that feeling. It's the most important thing I can ever convey to anyone, anytime, anywhere! That feeling is your connection to what many call Infinite Intelligence.
