Harvard Center Hypes Chinese Communist Party Popularity While Receiving MILLIONS From Chinese Govt and CCP-Linked Companies

 

Harvard’s Ash Center, which recently published a report claiming the Chinese Communist Party enjoys record-high support, has deep ties to the Chinese government including million-dollar donors from Chinese state-owned enterprises, leaders with financial ties to China, and collaboration with Chinese universities to train Chinese Communist Party officials. The July 2020 report “Understanding CCP Resilience: Surveying Chinese Public Opinion Through Time” contends that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is “as strong as ever” and “under no imminent threat of popular upheaval.” “Chinese citizen satisfaction with government has increased virtually across the board,” the Harvard Kennedy School Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation paper continues. But the 18-page report omits references to events countering this narrative: ongoing Hong Kong protests, oppression of Uyghurs in Xinjiang, or even the party’s mishandling of coronavirus. Harvard’s report was circulated widely by Chinese embassies, the CCP’s Foreign Ministry, and even state-run media outlets such as China Global Television Network (CGTN), which exploited the study to bolster its narrative the CCP enjoys widespread support.

FOLLOW THE MONEY. Among the Ash Center’s donors are China Southern Power Grid Corp, which is wholly owned and operated by the Chinese Government, whose management is “directly appointed by China’s central government.” Another donor is the CCP itself, via Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Further donations come from New World China Enterprises Project, a Chinese company whose board is composed of virtually all CCP members. You can view the lockdown order (unsigned) and a letter from the building manager below. The order claims its authority emanates from California Code 12030 and 120175.

I was a freshman attending my first high school pep rally and didn't know what to expect. It was ongoing as I arrived and required an entry fee. They let us in every five minutes at transition points in the rally. Back straight I self consciously walked across the gym floor towards an empty spot at the bottom of the bleachers. I noted students of all skin shades as I sat and slouched a little low to preserve line of sight behind me.

 

Several star football players were hoisting two galvanized metal tubs on a cable hanging from the ceiling. Blue transluscent pep slogans adorned the sides. The crowd became more excited as the tubs reached their zenith and now two teams on opposite sides pulled them away from each other with hitherto unseen ropes.

 

When they let the ropes go, the tubs collided, which produced a sound not unlike the ringing of a bell. The football players did this three times fast enough to string three notes, each higher than the last. The notes produced the same melody the guitar solo produces in Sister Golden Hair.

 

Instantly the intro accoustic guitar work from Sister Golden Hair began and we soaked up the effort put into the production. I noticed around me how crowded it had gotten, students spilling out sitting on the gym floor in front of me. Now I noted the upper classmen, in a tradition just now revealing itself to me, wore long sleeve, collared white cotton shirts with simplistic blue patterns. There were only a handful of pattern variations on the shirts, which made it all the more a coordinated thing. The upper classmen were jovial, confident and everywhere.

One of those detainees was a 53-year-old disabled Navy veteran who was in downtown Portland during the protests but not a participant. Concerned about the tactics being used by government agents who had taken an oath of office to protect and defend the Constitution, Christopher David tried to speak the “secret” police. Rosenberg was one of the first two inmates of the High Security Unit (HSU), a high-security isolation unit in the basement of the Federal Correctional Institution (currently the Federal Medical Center) in Lexington, Kentucky.[14][15][16] Allegations were made that the unit was an experimental underground political prison that practiced isolation and sensory deprivation .[17] The women were subject to 24-hour camera surveillance and constant strip searches, and were given only limited access to visitors or to exercise.[18] After touring the unit, the American Civil Liberties Union denounced it as a "living tomb," and Amnesty International called it "deliberately and gratuitously oppressive."[19] After a lawsuit was brought by the ACLU and other organizations, the unit was ordered closed by a federal judge in 1988 and the prisoners transferred to regular cells.[14]

 

Rosenberg was transferred to various prisons around the country, in Florida, California and, finally, in Danbury, Connecticut. While in prison, she devoted herself to writing and to activism around AIDS, and obtained a master's degree from Antioch University.[9] Speaking at a 2007 forum, Rosenberg said that writing "became the mechanism by which to save my own sanity." She added that she began writing partly because the intense isolation of prison was threatening to cut her off completely from the real world and that she did not want to lose her connection to that world.[20]

There's a lot of words that can be used to describe Adolf Hitler and Heinrich Himmler, and among the ones that are repeatable in polite company are things like "obsessive," "weird," and "convinced of a paranormal, supernatural explanation for the superiority of their precious Aryan race." Yep. In 1935, Himmler founded the Ahnenerbe, an organization that eventually evolved into the historical and cultural research arm of the Third Reich. And they were researching a lot, from the prehistoric roots of the Aryan race to the location of the Holy Grail, the relics of a lost colony of Atlantis, and, well, you get the idea. The Ahnenerbe was active before and during World War II, and it just gets weirder and weirder… and sadly, according to Dr. Dirk Mahsarski of the University of Bremen, there's a ton we don't even know about yet. Buckle up — you're in for a strange, strange ride.

 

A little bit of background is required in order to understand what's going on with the Ahnenerbe. Heinrich Himmler, says Dr. Dirk Mahsarski of the University of Bremen, was convinced that all Western culture could trace its roots back to a Nordic, Aryan race, and the best modern example of that race was the German people. He was also fascinated with researching those ancient cultures, and that's why he founded the Ahnenerbe in 1935. According to Ursinus College, the idea was that this research arm of the SS was going to be responsible for compiling all the information needed to establish a single Aryan culture post-war.

Convicted terrorist Susan Rosenberg (pictured above) is vice chair of Thousand Currents, a California-based charity that handles fundraising for Black Lives Matter. Rosenberg is a veteran of the May 19 Communist Organization that carried out bombings in the early 1980s to counter President Reagan’s “Morning in America” campaign. Rosenberg landed on the FBI most wanted list and was arrested with stolen explosives in 1984.

 

The terrorist drew 58 years but served only 16 because in 2001 President Bill Clinton commuted Rosenberg’s sentence. Since 2016, Rosenberg has been involved with Black Lives Matter, now openly recognized as a Marxist organization making communist political moves. One of those moves, supported by prominent Democrats is to defund the police, but BLM Philadelphia boss YahNé Ndgo is taking that to a new level. “One of the things that we are demanding over five years is the complete abolition,” she told Fox News Tuesday. “We don’t want to see any police in our community.”

 

Black Lives Matter has made a hero of Joanne Chesimard (aka Assata Shakur) who murdered a New Jersey state trooper, escaped prison and fled to Cuba. As Atlanta and Chicago confirm, murder is becoming more common in communities where Black Lives Matter operates, and the abolition of police would make it more so. As it happens, in Communist doctrine and practice, murder is necessary for social progress.

 

The independent Ukrainian farmers known as kulaks resisted Stalin’s collectivization plan. Stalin murdered them by the millions in a planned famine that Walter Duranty of the New York Times claimed did not exist. American Communist Anna Louise Strong championed the elimination of the kulaks as a class. Stalin knew that one death is a tragedy and a million deaths a statistic, and Mao Zedong followed suit. His cultural revolution and man-made calamities claimed a big part of the 94 million deaths under Communism in the past century.

 

In China during the cultural revolution, “mutant social growths were identified and unceremoniously uprooted.” That is from China: People-Questions, published by the National Council of Churches in 1975 and edited by Michael Chinoy, once a correspondent for CNN. The NCC book contends that there will be more cultural revolutions as China moves “in a socialist direction.”

Welteislehre (WEL; "World Ice Theory" or "World Ice Doctrine"), also known as Glazial-Kosmogonie (Glacial Cosmogony), is a discredited cosmological concept proposed by Hanns Hörbiger, an Austrian engineer and inventor.

 

Hörbiger did not arrive at his ideas through research, but said that he had received it in a "vision" in 1894. According to his ideas, ice was the basic substance of all cosmic processes, and ice moons, ice planets, and the "global ether" (also made of ice) had determined the entire development of the universe.[1]

 

Origin

By his own account, Hörbiger was observing the Moon when he was struck by the notion that the brightness and roughness of its surface was due to ice. Shortly after, he experienced a dream in which he was floating in space watching the swinging of a pendulum which grew longer and longer until it broke. "I knew that Newton had been wrong and that the sun's gravitational pull ceases to exist at three times the distance of Neptune," he concluded.[2] He worked out his concepts in collaboration with amateur astronomer and schoolteacher Philipp Fauth whom he met in 1898, and published it as Glazial-Kosmogonie in 1912. Fauth had previously produced a large (if somewhat inaccurate) lunar map and had a considerable following, which lent Hörbiger's ideas some respectability.[3]

 

It did not receive a great deal of attention at the time, but following World War I Hörbiger decided to change his strategy by promoting the new "cosmic truth" not only to people at universities and academies, but also to the general public. Hörbiger thought that if "the masses" accepted his ideas, then they might put enough pressure on the academic establishment to force his ideas into the mainstream. No effort was spared in popularising the ideas: "cosmotechnical" societies were founded, which offered public lectures that attracted large audiences, there were cosmic ice movies and radio programs, and even cosmic ice journals and novels.[4]

 

During this period, the name was changed from the Graeco-Latin Glazial-Kosmogonie to the more Germanic Welteislehre [WEL] ("World ice theory"). The followers of WEL exerted a great deal of public pressure on behalf of the ideas. The movement published posters, pamphlets, books, and even a newspaper The Key to World Events. A company owned by an adherent would only hire people who declared themselves convinced of the WEL's truth. Some followers even attended astronomical meetings to heckle, shouting, "Out with astronomical orthodoxy! Give us Hörbiger!"

 

One of the early supporters of Hörbiger's ideas was Houston Stewart Chamberlain, the leading theorist behind the early development of the National Socialist Party in Germany in 1923.

 

Two organizations were set up in Vienna concerned with the idea: the Kosmotechnische Gesellschaft and the Hörbiger Institute. The first was formed in 1921 by a group of enthusiastic adherents of the idea, which included engineers, physicians, civil servants, and businessmen. Most had been personally acquainted with Hörbiger and had attended his many lectures. Among Hörbiger's followers was Viennese author Egon Friedell, who explained the World Ice Theory in his 1930 Cultural History of the Modern Age.[5]

In the Third Reich

After Hörbiger’s death in 1931, the followers of WEL came to the conclusion that given the changing political situation in Germany, aligning the idea with National Socialism would eventually lead to its acceptance; WEL had already been heavily and successfully promoted as the "German antithesis" of the "Jewish" theory of relativity in the late 1920s. And so the movement became more and more pro-Nazi, with WEL supporters saying things like: "Our Nordic ancestors grew strong in ice and snow; belief in the Cosmic Ice is consequently the natural heritage of Nordic Man.", "Just as it needed a child of Austrian culture – Hitler! – to put the Jewish politicians in their place, so it needed an Austrian to cleanse the world of Jewish science.", and "the Führer, by his very life, has proved how much a so-called 'amateur' can be superior to self-styled professionals; it needed another 'amateur' to give us a complete understanding of the Universe."[citation needed]

 

Heinrich Himmler, one of the most powerful Nazi leaders, became a strong proponent of the idea and stated that if it were corrected and adjusted with new scientific findings, it could very well be accepted as scientific work. However, the Propaganda Ministry felt obliged to state that "one can be a good National Socialist without believing in the WEL".[citation needed]

 

Adolf Hitler, an enthusiastic follower of WEL, adopted it as the Nazi party's official cosmology. He claimed that Hörbiger was not accepted by the scientific establishment because "the fact is, men do not wish to know".[6] The World Ice Theory was intended to form part of a planetarium Hitler planned to build on Linz's Mount Pöstling. According to the structure's plans, the ground floor was to centre around Ptolemy's universe, the middle floor Copernicus' theory, and the top floor, Hörbiger's theory.[5]

 

It has been said that the real reason both Hitler and Himmler favored the idea was to counterbalance the perceived Jewish influence on the sciences, similar to the Deutsche Physik movement. Hörbiger's WEL was, for instance, opposed to Albert Einstein's theory of relativity. Dozens of scientific journals, books, and even novels were published on this topic. Hörbiger's ideas became generally accepted among the population of Nazi Germany and a German Hörbiger Organization had thousands of members.

 

The Nazis also considered the World Ice Theory valuable because of its supposed value in weather forecasting. The 1938 Zur Welteismeteorologie ("On World Ice Meteorology") by E. Dinies, published by the Reichs Office for Weather Service, quotes from Hörbiger's Glazial-Kosmogonie and provided tables of data comparing ice and air temperatures for relative humidity values.[7]

 

A growing group of "believing scientists" expanded the "theory" during the last years of World War II.

 

Following the Anschluss of March 1938, the Kosmotechnische Gesellschaft was liquidated by the Nazis, and its funds seized. The Hörbiger Institute, which was a small association which collected funds for research, was left in possession of all Hörbiger's scientific material, including a library and a large collection of valuable drawings covering astronomy, meteorology, and geology as they related to the Hörbiger theory. The Nazis wanted to close the Institute down as well, but Hörbiger's son Alfred and the Chairman avoided this by having a Nazi Commission appointed. They also managed to prevent the archives being taken to Berlin and absorbed in Himmler’s Ahnenerbe organization, and established that the Institute was the private property of Hörbiger's sons.

 

Despite the outbreak of World War II, Alfred Hörbiger managed to continue publishing the Institute's Proceedings, in spite of being cut off from all foreign publications and correspondents. Eventually they were contacted by the German Propaganda Ministry, who said they considered that the publications constituted high treason and ordered them to stop circulating their reports.

 

In February 1945 the Hörbiger engineering works were destroyed, and in March the Institute's premises were hit and were boarded up just before Soviet troops arrived.[citation needed] Alfred Hörbiger died in August 1945, but the Institute hoped to restart publication of its Proceedings by 1949.

Officials Criticize Clinton's Pardon of an Ex-Terroris

An unusual combination of New York political and law enforcement leaders have condemned former President Bill Clinton's pardon of Susan L. Rosenberg, a one-time member of the Weather Underground terrorist group who was charged in the notorious 1981 Brink's robbery in Rockland County that left a guard and two police officers dead.

 

Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani, a Republican, and United States Senator Charles E. Schumer, a Democrat, were among those who criticized the pardon, as did Bernard B. Kerik, New York City's police commissioner, and David Trois, a Rockland County police union official.

 

It sickened me, Mr. Kerik said yesterday of the pardon, one of 140 granted Saturday, the final day of Mr. Clinton's tenure.

 

Ms. Rosenberg served 16 years in jail after she was found with a companion in New Jersey in 1984 unloading 740 pounds of dynamite and weapons, including a submachine gun, from a car. She admitted her role in the New Jersey case, in which she had planned to supply others with explosives for politically motivated bombings.

 

At the time of her arrest, she was wanted on charges related to the 1981 armed robbery of a Brink's armored car in Nanuet, N.Y., a holdup that was supposed to raise money for the Weather Underground and other radical groups. But Ms. Rosenberg denied any involvement in the Brink's robbery and was never tried on those charges, because Mr. Giuliani, then the United States attorney in Manhattan, indicated that given her 58-year sentence on the New Jersey weapons charges, there was no need to proceed with that case.

Clinton pardoned a total of 456 people, with 140 of them issued on January 20, 2001. The list of those pardoned reads like a who’s who of movie villains. Charges that Clinton used his power to dismiss include drug trafficking, cocaine smuggling, tax fraud, tax evasion, mail fraud, bribery, obstruction of justice, bank fraud, Medicaid fraud, embezzlement, grand theft, bomb-making, sedition, and domestic terrorism.

 

One case in particular stands out because of the severity of the offense. During his final hours in the White House, President Bill Clinton issued a pardon to commute the sentence of Susan Rosenberg. Her commutation was widely criticized by police, and by New York elected officials.

 

Susan Rosenberg had worked with the domestic terror group known as the Weather Underground, or WUO. The group of radical left-wing militants was formed in 1969 with the stated goal of creating a clandestine revolutionary party in order to overthrow the U.S. government.

 

Members of this domestic terrorist outfit were known as Weathermen, and in 1970 the group issued a “Declaration of a State of War” against the United States government, under the name “Weather Underground Organization”.

 

The group was responsible for bombing the United States Capitol, the Pentagon, and U.S. Department of State building. Most of their activities occurred in the 1970s, but splinter groups continued into the 1980s.

Bill Clinton’s last days in office were busy ones; and the stomach still revolts from them.

 

#ad#Hours before his successor was sworn in, Clinton granted clemency to a pair of longtime terrorists from the Weather Underground, Susan Rosenberg and Linda Sue Evans. These women are less well known than the glam figures Bernadine Dohrn and Kathy Boudin, but they are deadly enough. For the last decade and a half, they have been on the roll call of the darlings of the violent Left, along with Mumia Abu-Jamal, Leonard Peltier, and other “political” killers. Their world is unforgettably described in Peter Collier and David Horowitz’s 1989 book, Destructive Generation.

 

Rosenberg and Evans were the kind the authors dub “radical airheads.” These were white women, brought up in privilege, who placed themselves in the service of more unflinching killers, usually black. They were support players in the Underground: drivers of getaway cars, haulers of weapons, securers of safehouses. They let others pull the trigger, but were always faithful abettors. In the 1970s and ’80s, Rosenberg and Evans participated in a string of armed robberies and other crimes, leaving corpses, mayhem, and fear in their wake.

 

The two belonged primarily to the Weather group, but all such outfits worked together, in an alliance of terror: the May 19th Communist Organization, the Black Liberation Army, the Red Guerrilla Resistance, the Republic of New Afrika, and so on. Collectively, they were known, in positively bourgeois fashion, as “The Family.”

 

Rosenberg–on whom we will focus–was born in 1956 and grew up on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Her father was a dentist, her mother involved with the theater. The girl attended the “progressive” Walden School and, at 17, traveled to Cuba as a member of a “youth work brigade.” In time, she left such activities for the harder action of The Family.

 

The Family’s most notorious crime occurred on October 20, 1981, in Nanuet, N.Y. This was the operation code-named “Big Dance.” (Details of the crime are given in John Castellucci’s 1986 book, Big Dance. Castellucci, a reporter with the Providence Journal, remains a leading authority on the case and its many actors.) The gang held up a Brink’s truck, killing a guard named Peter Paige. In flight, they killed two police officers, Waverly Brown and Edward O’Grady. Brown had been the first black man admitted to the local force–a real pioneer. This fact should be remembered in light of the contention of Rosenberg et al. that they were dedicated to black people and black progress everywhere.

 

Rosenberg’s role in the crime was that of getaway driver and general accomplice. Four of her partners were immediately caught. At least eight others escaped, including Rosenberg herself.

Congressman Jerrold Nadler is currently playing a lead role in a grand drama aimed at removing President Trump from office. As chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, the ultra-partisan Nadler is handing out subpoenas left and right. On May 8, the day Judiciary Committee Democrats voted at his prompting to hold Attorney General William Barr in contempt, Nadler declared a “constitutional crisis.”

 

This is the same Nadler who, during the Clinton impeachment proceedings, objected to even releasing the Ken Starr report and likened the impeachment to a “partisan coup d’etat.” And during Bill Clinton’s last days in office, as he was handing out 140 pardons (many as thanks for helping his wife’s successful senatorial bid), Nadler had nothing to say. In fact, he was instrumental in getting a pardon for a convicted terrorist. This was Susan Rosenberg, sister soldier in a bloody alliance between the Weather Underground and Black Liberation Movement.

 

Rosenberg’s role in the “Family,” as this confederation of white and black domestic terrorists called themselves, was to use her “white privilege” to do such things as acquire weapons, purchase vehicles, and rent apartments for safe houses and storage units for explosives and weapons. In 1981, she allegedly drove a getaway car in the Brink’s armored car holdup in Rockland County, N.Y., in which two policemen and a guard were murdered. Authorities nabbed her in 1984 when she and Timothy Blunk were caught in New Jersey unloading the following from a U-Haul truck to a storage unit: 640 pounds of stolen explosives, an arsenal of weapons, manuals on terrorism, and false IDs.

LA Fines Businesses $356 For Posting ‘We're Open' Signs

 

Numerous struggling businesses, including small restaurants, are getting socked with penalties from the city of Los Angeles for posting banners telling customers they're open for takeout during the pandemic, the NBC4 I-Team has learned.

 

Above the entrance of the Crave Cafe in Studio Citywhere business is down 70% during the pandemicthe owner last month hung a banner that says "OPEN FOR TAKE-OUT AND DELIVERY."

 

"It really was important because it helped us in communicating to the community that we were still open, and many of them don't know that," said Rana Shalhoub, Crave Cafe's owner.

 

But Shalhoub found a notice in her mail this week from LA's Department of Building and Safety, ordering her to take down the banner and fining her $356. She promptly removed the banner.

 

"We're struggling to survive. I do think the city should have at least given us a warning to take down the sign, prior to fining us," Rana Shalhoub told NBC4.

 

Several neighboring businesses on Ventura Boulevard also got $356 fines for hanging banners saying they're still open, including the Chop Shop salad restaurant, Fantastic Sam's barbershop, Trader Joe's and the Hot Chicken and Waffle Bar.

 

The Department of Building and Safety told the I-Team in an email that the banners "require permits," and because the businesses didn't have those permits, they were in violation of the LA Municipal Code and received the fines.

 

The I-Team asked Mayor Eric Garcetti why the city isn't waiving the banner penalties for struggling businesses like Crave Cafe, the same way it's waived other penalties during the pandemic, such as parking in a street cleaning zone.

 

"I'm happy to follow up with you about that particular case," said Garcetti. "It's always my instinct to give businesses, especially now, to give businesses breaks."

 

Crave Cafe's owner Rana Shalhoub has a message for city leaders: "We are all in this together and in a pandemic we need to be more compassionate. And to target small business owners and even large business owners during something like this is very unfair."

 

So far, the Department of Building and Safety is telling Crave Cafe and other businesses they must pay the $356 fine within 30 days, or the fine will increase to $1,176.
