5 Big Ideas for Making Fusion Power a Reality

Startups, universities, and major companies are vying to commercialize a nuclear fusion reactor

Over the past several years, more than two dozen research groups—impressively staffed and well-funded startups, university programs, and corporate projects—have achieved eye-opening advances in controlled nuclear fusion. They’re building fusion reactors based on radically different designs that challenge the two mainstream approaches, which use either a huge, doughnut-shaped magnetic vessel called a tokamak or enormously powerful lasers.

What’s more, some of these groups are predicting significant fusion milestones within the next five years, including reaching the breakeven point at which the energy produced surpasses the energy used to spark the reaction. That’s shockingly soon, considering that the mainstream projects pursuing the conventional tokamak and laser-based approaches have been laboring for decades and spent billions of dollars without achieving breakeven.

In Cambridge, Mass., MIT-affiliated researchers at Commonwealth Fusion Systems say their latest reactor design is on track to exceed breakeven by 2025. In the United Kingdom, a University of Oxford spin-off called First Light Fusion claims it will demonstrate breakeven in 2024. And in Southern California, the startup TAE Technologies has issued a breathtakingly ambitious five-year timeline for commercialization of its fusion reactor.

Irrational exuberance? Maybe. Fusion research is among the most costly of endeavors, depending on high inflows of cash just to pay a lab’s electricity bills. In the pursuit of funding, the temptation to overstate future achievements is strong. And past expectations of impending breakthroughs have repeatedly been dashed. What’s changed now is that advances in high-speed computing, materials science, and modeling and simulation are helping to topple once-recalcitrant technical hurdles, and significant amounts of money are flowing into the field.

Some of the new fusion projects are putting the newest generation of supercomputers to work to better understand and tweak the behavior of the ultrahigh-temperature plasma in which hydrogen nuclei fuse to form helium. Others have reopened promising lines of inquiry that were shelved decades ago. Still others are exploiting new superconductors or hybridizing the mainstream concepts.

Despite their powerful tools and creative approaches, many of these new ventures will fail. But if just one succeeds in building a reactor capable of producing electricity economically, it could fundamentally transform the course of human civilization. In a fusion reaction, a single gram of the hydrogen isotopes that are most commonly used could theoretically yield the same energy as 11 metric tons of coal, with helium as the only lasting by-product.

This is truly a bombshell story when you understand the full implications of it, yet major media likely will not touch it. Headlines could read “In stunning lawsuit, CDC admits they have no evidence vaccines don’t cause autism” – but instead, crickets.

For years they claimed that the studies had been done, the evidence was clear, and that there was a consensus: “vaccines don’t cause autism.” Yet, this was a lie.

An organization called the Informed Consent Action Network (ICAN) was instrumental in bringing forth this admission. As they stated in their own press release:

In summer 2019, ICAN submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the CDC requesting “All studies relied upon by CDC to claim that the DTaP vaccine does not cause autism.” ICAN also submitted this same request for HepB, Hib, PCV13 and IPV, as well as requesting the CDC provide studies to support the cumulative exposure to these vaccines during the first six months of life do not cause autism.

Despite months of demands, the CDC failed to produce a single specific study in response to these FOIA requests. ICAN was therefore forced to sue the CDC in federal court, where the CDC finally conceded, in a stipulation signed by a Federal court judge, that that it has no studies to support that any of these vaccines do not cause autism.

The Electrical Mechanism of the Ether

The electrical theory of Maxwell was based on the assumption that when a body was electrified something in the nature of a displacement passed from the body into the ether, and from the ether to some other material object or objects said to be electrified.

Forces there must be in the ether, but it is necessary to remember that we can make sure of their existence only by mechanical reactions of the ether upon material bodies. When the forces refer wholly to the ether they are designated as "generalized" forces. Thus, although an electromotive force is regarded as setting up a flux of electric displacement this force cannot be considered a true force in the Newtonian sense, for matter is not involved, except indirectly. The mechanical of Newtonian forces that are observable on electrical bodies always imply matter, Electrical instruments are employed to measure E.M.F.'s (potentials) and currents, but it is very obvious that what were really measuring are the reactions of the ether upon material bodies and not the forces that act wholly and entirely on the parts of the medium itself.

The question can arise whether electricity as such can exist apart from matter. Heaviside is decidedly of the opinion that is cannot. A couple things spring to mind given recent events.

• It possibly may be related to the recent Facebook study which showed how widespread the research has become. Since the media has shown time and time again to live in a bubble and not really have the first clue what the average American/western country citizen thinks they then may have previously thought the research was nothing more than a few "incels" with nothing to do but try to create conspiracy theory nonsense. But after the study they may have realized how much they truly have lost the narrative and how little people thought of them which is causing them to try to redouble their efforts and regain control, especially with the election coming. The election could have dire consequences to a great many of these so called journalists so those particular individuals would have every reason to try to do what they can to prevent things from going the way they appear to be headed.

• I tend to notice differences in shill tactics and tendency's by my own innate pattern recognition but also because I have written so many large spreads here through the years and can notice when my research is something that a group wants to prevent through their reactions. One of the biggest reactions came last week when I wrote the large notable spread on all the Pharma heads, virologist/bio researchers/microbiologists and college connected educator types who had gone missing or outright committed "suicide" over the past year and a half which included a large portion about the Wyndham Lathem situation and how several of them connected to the Gates Foundation. Directly after that post there was a huge convergence of shills attempting to reset and control that narrative. So this is another possibility, especially when you also consider the public appearances and statements by the Gates on the virus and vaccine through this time period.

• It might very well have to do with trafficking still. While we do discuss that here we rarely ever discuss "PizzaGate" as that has always been more so a half chan research project. But we definitely do discuss the trafficking issues here and we definitely do see a rise in shills attempting to create nonsensical bullshit to try to make the research look ridiculous. But this is an old research project for many so I would think they would have attacked it long ago if that were the case. So while this is a possibility I am not sold on this being the reason for their recent freak out and unjustified attacks.

• It may simply be that they are trying to control the narrative and all information flow due to the election being under 90 days.

There are a few others which I will not bring up at this time since I am personally working on a new spread to post and don't want to give away anything in the case it has to do with one of those two issues but they both were discussed in the past albeit very little was ever covered.

So, long story short to answer your question, I am not sure and it seems like there are a few possibilities but one thing is certain and that is that they definitely appear to be throwing all their options into trying to attack the research over the past half week and there has to be a reason for that as the media runs by a script handed to them to control one thing or another and never having to do with reporting the facts or acting as a shield for the people against bad issues or people.

Paul Howard ousted after serving more than 2 decades as Fulton County DA

It appears Fulton County will have its first new district attorney in nearly two decades. Incumbent Paul Howard was beaten by more than 45 percentage points Tuesday in a runoff against Fani Willis. Howard recently came under fire after the FOX 5 I-Team uncovered the Georgia Bureau of Investigation was looking into allegations that Howard used grant money from the City of Atlanta to nonprofits under his control. One of those non-profits paid Howard at least $140,000 in city grant money. He agreed to pay a $6,500 state ethics fine for failing to disclose his role as a CEO for two non-profits. The GBI was investigating the way grand jury subpoenas were issued by Howard's office in the Rayshard Brooks murder case. In addition, three past or present female employees have filed lawsuits alleging harassment or discrimination. Howard dismissed the harassment and discrimination allegations, saying they're baseless and politically motivated. He also said there was no wrongdoing involving the salary supplement or the subpoenas.

Howard was the first African American district attorney elected in Georgia when he took office in 1997. He touts a 70% drop in violent crime and a 50% reduction in the county jail population as his main accomplishments. He also said he’s proud that about 60% of his staff is Black and about 65% female, with women holding 84% of supervisory positions. After two decades of running unopposed, Howard placed second in the June Democratic primary. New Paper Confirms Just How Rigged Higher Education Is Against The Right

A devastating new policy report provides data on how conservatives are sidelined in western academia. Now, conservatives have to decide what to do about it.

The policy paper from Policy Exchange, a London-based think-tank, highlights the major trends in British higher-ed and has implications for similar problems in the United States. The report indicates that, compared to the 1960s when the British higher-ed system was divided between around 35 percent supporting Conservative causes and around 50 percent supporting the Labour Party, academia currently is almost wholly skewed to the left.

Conservative professoriate numbers are often in single digits. In the United States, also, several studies have found results similar to those of a 2018 survey, which found ten times as many Democrat-affiliated professors than Republican-affiliated at the top 60-ranked campuses. Worse, the U.K. paper finds, is that “soft totalitarianism” has increased, ranging from academic bullying and campaigns against scholars with unconventional views, to even outright seclusion in certain fields and disciplines.

About only half of academics would feel comfortable sitting next to someone who supported Britain’s right to leave the European Union, for example. Just 37 percent say they would feel comfortable being around someone critical of gender and trans-rights. One-third of academics would not hire a “Vote-Leave” supporter of Brexit.

The report also finds that active discrimination against conservatives happens in hiring, background checks, grant and scholarship applications, and committee memberships. Needless to mention, this is ideological discrimination in its purest form.
