The U.S. Department of Justice today identified the following three jurisdictions that have permitted violence and destruction of property to persist and have refused to undertake reasonable measures to counteract criminal activities: New York City; Portland, Oregon; and Seattle, Washington. The Department of Justice is continuing to work to identify jurisdictions that meet the criteria set out in the President’s Memorandum and will periodically update the list of selected jurisdictions as required therein.

 

The list was published on DOJ’s website today in response to President Trump’s memorandum of September 2, 2020, entitled “Memorandum on Reviewing Funding to State and Local Government Recipients That Are Permitting Anarchy, Violence, and Destruction in American Cities.”

 

“When state and local leaders impede their own law enforcement officers and agencies from doing their jobs, it endangers innocent citizens who deserve to be protected, including those who are trying to peacefully assemble and protest,” said Attorney General William P. Barr. “We cannot allow federal tax dollars to be wasted when the safety of the citizenry hangs in the balance. It is my hope that the cities identified by the Department of Justice today will reverse course and become serious about performing the basic function of government and start protecting their own citizens.”

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) told Kara Swisher of the New York Times in an interview released Monday that the House of Representatives can impeach President Donald Trump “every day of the week for anything he does.”

 

Swisher, a tech journalist with left-wing views, was pushing Pelosi to commit to doing more to fight back against President Trump, the Republican, and the conservative agenda.

Sino-Vatican deal compared to treaty with Third Reich

 

WASHINGTON (ChurchMilitant.com) - U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is warning Pope Francis that the Vatican risks endangering its moral authority if it renews its controversial secret deal with China.

 

"No regime suppresses faith on a larger scale than the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)," Pompeo announced Sunday, after urging the Vatican to "stand with fellow Catholics and the people of Hong Kong" in a tweet Saturday.

 

The Twitter outburst from Pompeo's government account follows his strongly-worded column published Friday in the journal First Things, arguing that "now more than ever, the Chinese people need the Vatican's moral witness and authority in support of China's religious believers."

 

"The Holy See has a unique capacity and duty to focus the world's attention on human rights violations, especially those perpetrated by totalitarian regimes like Beijing's," Pompeo asserted, noting that the "same power of moral witness" that inspired the fight against 20th-century communist and authoritarian regimes "should be deployed today with respect to the Chinese Communist Party."

 

"Two years on, it's clear that the Sino-Vatican agreement has not shielded Catholics from the Party's depredations, to say nothing of the Party's horrific treatment of Christians, Tibetan Buddhists, Falun Gong devotees and other religious believers," Pompeo noted.

 

Faith Being Subverted

The CCP's "decades-long war on faith" against Catholic clergy, laity and Protestant house churches are all "parts of a 'Sinicization' campaign to subordinate God to the Party while promoting [China's president] Xi [Jinping] himself as an ultramontane deity," Pompeo observed.

 

The secretary lamented that "Communist authorities continue to shutter churches, spy on and harass the faithful and insist that the Party is the ultimate authority in religious affairs."

 

Vatican diplomats meet this month to renew the 2018 concordat, which, he said:

 

legitimized priests and bishops whose loyalties remain unclear, confusing Chinese Catholics who had always trusted the Church. Many refuse to worship in state-sanctioned places of worship, for fear that by revealing themselves as faithful Catholics they will suffer the same abuses that they witness other believers suffer at the hands of the Chinese authorities' increasingly aggressive atheism.

 

The secretary also pointed out that "Hong Kong's most prominent voices for human dignity and human rights have often been Catholics." He named "father of democracy" Martin Lee and media baron Jimmy Lai, who "have been arrested, spied on and harassed for the simple 'crime' of advocating the basic freedoms" promised by Beijing "in exchange for regaining sovereignty over Hong Kong in 1997."

The Chief of Staff for Obama’s Former AG Eric Holder Met With Sally Yates the Day After General Flynn Was Set Up in the White House

 

President Obama’s first Attorney General, Eric Holder, left a corrupt life in public office and returned to the law firm Covington but he may not have left his corrupt work behind. Today we have more information connecting Holder to the the Russia Collusion hoax.

 

We noted in April, 2020 that while at Covington, lawyers from Holder’s firm represented General Mike Flynn and requested dirt on President Trump while withholding important information from General Flynn.

 

After working for President Obama for six years, Attorney General Eric Holder returned to the law firm where he had previously worked, Covington, where he became a partner in 2015.

 

Many, including the Heritage Foundation in 2014, identified how corrupt Holder was as AG [emphasis added]:

 

… the American people recognize that Mr. Holder is an ideologue who considers himself part of Mr. Obama’s political team first and the attorney general a very distant second. His first loyalty has been to helping the president break, bend, ignore or fail to enforce the law, doing untold damage to our constitutional system and the rule of law.

 

As former Justice Department prosecutor Andy McCarthy has said, the Justice Department under Mr. Holder has become “a sort of full-employment program for progressive activists, race-obsessed bean counters and lawyers who volunteered their services during the Bush years to help al Qaeda operatives file lawsuits against the United States.”

 

There is no way to know how long it will take to repair the damage that Mr. Holder has done to the management and operation of the Justice Department. One thing we do know for sure — it will take a great deal of work by a new attorney general who is willing to take on the activists that Mr. Holder will leave embedded within the career civil service ranks of the department. And it will take political willpower and steadfastness of a kind that is rarely seen in Washington.

 

Through his numerous actions as Obama’s AG, Mr. Holder proved that he was not concerned with law and the constitution, he was concerned with power.

Enter General Mike Flynn

 

General Michael Flynn obtained attorneys from Covington to represent him in the filing of a FARA form in December of 2016, shortly after the 2016 election. A few months later, General Flynn’s life was turned upside down and he hired Covington to represent him in charges being leveled by the Mueller gang. Eventually, the Covington lawyers working for the General coerced him to sign a guilty plea on charges he did not believe he was guilty of performing. He agreed to the plea in part because the Mueller gang was threatening his son.

"End School To Prison Pipeline" - New Kim Klacik Ad Highlights How Liberals Destroyed Baltimore

 

Readers may recall, in mid-August, we pointed out Kim Klacik, the GOP congressional candidate from Baltimore, is attempting to take late Elijah Cummings' congressional seat in Maryland's 7th congressional district.

 

However, there just one problem, she's a Republican, nevertheless, a young black millennial, who has been embraced by President Trump and top Republicans.

 

For more color on Maryland's 7th District, which covers the northern and eastern boundaries of Baltimore County, the majority of Howard County, and a decent chunk of eastern and western parts of Baltimore City, which have been dominated by Democrats for a little more than half a century.

 

Klacik was propelled into the spotlight in August when her campaign released a video of her walking the streets of Baltimore. She showed people "the real Baltimore," outlining how decades of Democratic policies have imploded communities:

 

"Democrats don't want you to see this. They're scared that I'm exposing what life is like in Democrat-run cities. That's why I'm running for Congress Because All Black Lives Matter Baltimore Matters And black people don't have to vote Democrat."

 

Two weeks later, in early September, Trump tweeted that he "fully endorsed" Klacik.

 

Now the Baltimore-based GOP Congressional candidate is out with another political ad bashing Baltimore liberals for destroying the city. She focused on Baltimore's trash problems, dilapidated row houses, and the "black struggle of people in Baltimore."

 

"I see a Baltimore that picks up trash," Klacik said. "There are piles of garbage all around Baltimore. It makes life unsafe for our families. I'll work with city leaders to get Baltimore Solid Waste Bureau the resources it needs to take out the trash."

This Anon has worked in jails for the last five years. No inmate has ever complained to me about how bad it is there. Even the ones with makeshift space on a cot in the day room know they have it good. They love the movies and music, email and photos they get on their tablets. Ilhan Omar: Hate for Me Is ‘Anti-Muslim, Anti-Immigrant, Anti-Black, Sexist’

 

 

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) touted her intersectional oppression in a recent interview with the New York Times, lamenting that she constantly has to “deal with the hate of anti-Muslim, anti-immigrant, anti-blackness, but also with sexism” in the United States.

 

Omar made the remark when asked about a controversial passage in her autobiographical book — This Is What America Looks Like: My Journey from Refugee to Congresswoman — in which she wrote: “I am, by nature, a starter of fires. My work has been to figure out where I’m going to burn down everything around me by adding the fuel of my religion, skin color, gender or even tone.”

 

“Couldn’t that kind of language be interpreted as a form of demagoguery?” the Times asked.

 

Omar replied:

 

It’s metaphorical. There are many times when people will say, “Something you said has agitated this space.” And it’s like, no, it’s me just showing up that did it. There are times when I will choose to not show up, because I know that my presence brings about intensity that isn’t going to be helpful. There’s no one else that exists in a space where they have to deal with the hate of anti-Muslim, anti-immigrant, anti-blackness, but also with sexism. People will say it’s my “tone.” I’m like, you’re agitated by my tone because you think people like me should be sitting in a corner, not heard and not seen. Everything that comes out of my mouth is going to be filtered through the lens of you despising my existence.

 

Omar, who was born in Somalia and lived in a refugee camp in Kenya before coming to the U.S. in the 1990s, has previously accused the U.S. of virtually being a fundamentally bigoted country. In March, Omar claimed that American power comes from racism and that “our history is built on the oppression of black bodies.”

 

“From slavery to Jim Crow to redlining to mass incarceration to voter suppression, racism is part of the foundation of American power,” she said during a Capitol Hill panel on “racial justice.”

 

In October 2019, Omar attacked the U.S. and its foreign policy, saying Americans don’t like being reminded that “we have been a villain” in other parts of the world.

 

“We’re very comfortable being the hero in every story,” the lawmaker told TBS’s Full Frontal with Samantha Bee.”We are not comfortable anytime somebody reminds us we have been a villain. It’s my job to make sure we can end this story as a hero.”

Xi and POTUS to face off at virtual UN General Assembly

 

The opening of the United Nations General Assembly debate on Tuesday will be a quiet affair, as the pandemic has forced the annual gathering online. But the 75th session comes as the world body faces perhaps its greatest confluence of challenges: a global health crisis that has caused a severe economic downturn, compounded by climate change and rising tensions between its two most powerful members, the U.S. and China.

 

World leaders who would typically flock to U.N. Headquarters in New York will instead deliver speeches via prerecorded video. Since they need not be physically present, more heads of state than usual are scheduled to address the assembly, whereas in a normal year they might send deputies or foreign ministers. Speeches by Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian leader Vladimir Putin are scheduled for Tuesday, marking the first appearances at the General Assembly for both men since 2015.

 

Xi's slot comes shortly after U.S. President Donald Trump, who is up for reelection in November and until recently had vowed to attend the event in person. Now he, too, is expected to deliver remarks remotely. For Xi, "the priority is maintaining international cooperation against COVID and how to bring back the international economy to financial health," said Yu Tiejun, associate professor in the School of International Studies at Peking University. "China's position on the U.N. is very supportive," Yu said. In contrast, Trump has been sharply critical of international organizations. In May, he said he would pull the U.S. out of the World Health Organization, calling it a "puppet" of China – the second-largest donor to the U.N. system after the U.S.

 

Trump has also opted out of UNESCO and threatened to withdraw from the World Trade Organization. In his remarks on Tuesday, he is expected to criticize the U.N. and its response to the pandemic. "I hope China will not retaliate with words," Yu said. "The U.N. cannot function well if the main powers are not cooperating." Ichiro Fujisaki, a former Japanese ambassador to the U.S., observed that "the U.S. is not showing tremendous interest in the U.N. General Assembly." On the other hand, he said, "China and Russia are trying to show they are globalist, multilateral powers." Also delivering remarks on the first day of high-level debate will be President Hassan Rouhani of Iran, another U.S. rival, followed by French President Emmanuel Macron. South Korean President Moon Jae-in will address his last General Assembly before his term expires next year. Japan's new Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga, elected last week, will make his debut on the world stage on Friday.

 

Both Moon and Suga, caught between close security ties with the U.S. and economic relationships with China, are expected to play things cautiously in case Trump wins a second term. And the online proceedings mean Suga, in particular, misses out on a chance to start building international relationships in person. For his predecessor, Shinzo Abe, this mingling was an important element of his diplomacy-driven foreign policy. "Usually, the UNGA is more important for the outside bilateral meetings and small group meetings than for the assembly," said Fujisaki, who also represented Japan at the U.N. Aside from the leaders' addresses, a number of virtual forums are scheduled for this week.

 

On Thursday, Xi is expected to participate in a meeting on the "maintenance of international peace and security," Niger, the African country that currently holds the Security Council presidency, confirmed to Nikkei. At the meeting, dignitaries will discuss global governance after the COVID-19 crisis. On the same day, U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson are to take part in a roundtable on climate change. Guterres, who will speak first on Tuesday, is likely to urge world leaders to coordinate their pandemic responses and cooperate on vaccine development. "It is absolutely essential that a vaccine be considered a global public good," he said last week, according to U.N. Global Communications.

 

Guterres is also expected to ask countries to align their economic recovery plans with the U.N.'s Sustainable Development Goals, which appear unlikely to be met by the 2030 deadline.

Former Victorian Premier Jeff Kennett has launched into a ferocious attack on Daniel Andrews after the state's hotel quarantine inquiry reached farcical levels.

 

The inquiry revealed Daniel Andrews right-hand man Chris Eccles simply “can’t recall” who ordered security guards to man the hotels of returned travellers.

 

On the Today show this morning, Mr Kennett described the revelations as “extraordinary”.

 

“We are in this strange position here in Victoria where no- one knows anything,” he said. “We just seem to operate on osmosis.

 

“No politician will accept responsibility.It is the most extraordinary situation and bear in mind, the failure at those quarantine hotels led to the second wave here which to date has taken over 750 lives.

 

Premier Daniel Andrews is giving evidence tomorrow, but Mr Kennett predicted he won’t “know anything” either.

 

“No-one knows. This has just happened. I’m surprised anyone knows we have got coronavirus down here,” he said. “No politician has accepted any responsibility for any act that has occurred.”

 

Despite the criticism, the latest polling shows support for Mr Andrews has surged.

 

Mr Kennett however said he wasn’t surprised.

 

“When you have people in situations of stress they always look to their leaders to actually be able to guide them to a safe place,” he said.

 

“We are being guided because the government has failed and I’ve always said that the aftermath of the coronavirus is going to be a lot more serious than, in fact, the coronavirus itself.”

Mass whale strandings in Tasmania are not uncommon and pilot whales are the 'main culprits', scientists say

 

Rescuers are preparing to save a large pod of whales stuck on a sandbank off Tasmania's West Coast, with researchers labelling the state a "global hotspot" for mass strandings.

 

On Monday, around 270 pilot whales got into difficulty on a sandbank at Macquarie Heads, near Strahan on Tasmania's west coast, about 190 kilometres from Hobart.

 

The Department of Primary Industry, Parks, Water and Environment (DPIPWE) said the whales were stranded at three different sites, with dozens appearing to be dead.

Another Bloody Chicago Weekend Sees Almost 40 Shot, With Homicides Up 50%

 

Another grim weekend out of Chicago as the Sun Times reports at least 36 total shot, including 9 fatalities across the city after total figures were tallied Monday.

 

This is slightly down from the prior weekend which included 42 people shot, 12 of which died of their wounds.

 

The windy city has seen shocking numbers nearly every weekend over the past months, also earlier this month over a bloody Labor Day holiday weekend which saw a whopping 51 shot, including 10 deaths.

 

The deaths remain relatively young black males, with this weekend's homicides all being male victims between the ages of 17 and 47 years old. A 16-year old was also shot, but is expected to survive:

 

The weekend’s youngest victim was a teenage boy critically wounded early Saturday in South Chicago. The 16-year-old was standing on the sidewalk about 2:15 a.m. in the 5000 block of West Monroe Street when someone fired shots from a dark blue vehicle in an alley, according to police. He was hit in the chest and taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition.

 

Chicago police have that tallied shootings are up 50% compared to this time last year. Here are the numbers according to local reports:

 

But, overall, shootings and murders are up 50% compared to last year, according to Chicago Police Department statistics. Through Sept. 13, police have recorded 544 murders in 2020 compared to 364 murders during the same time in 2019.

 

The same increase applies to shootings. The city has seen more than 2,220 shootings in 2020 compared to about 1,500 over the same time in 2019, according to the statistics.

 

The weekend period running late Friday into Monday morning remain the deadliest portion of the week, with warm weekend holidays typically witnessing the worst numbers.

 

And this particular weekend, 30 among the 36 victims were reported shot Friday evening into Sunday morning alone in Chicago.

China will lose access to two important and strategic space satellite-tracking stations in Australia, with their Swedish owners citing the "complexity" of doing business with Beijing.

 

The Swedish Space Corporation (SSC), owned by the Swedish Government, operates 11 satellite-tracking facilities around the world, including the Dongara and Yatharagga stations south of Geraldton in Western Australia.

 

The Dongara station is primarily used by US government agencies such as NASA.

 

The decision comes as China continues its expansion into space exploration, and concerns continue to mount about the country's intelligence-gathering operations in the science and technology sectors.

 

Last week, the ABC revealed a massive Chinese database contained specific information about Australia's fledgling space industry.

 

SSC's Anni Bolenuis said the company had found its relatively small size a barrier to effectively doing business with Beijing.

 

"It has become increasingly difficult for us to handle the complexity of the Chinese market and therefore we have decided to focus on other markets," she told the ABC, speaking from Sweden.

 

"We will not enter into any new contracts with Chinese customers after the current contracts expire."

 

Ms Bolenuis would not detail exactly when the contracts were due to run out, but said they were "long-term" deals that "were entered into quite a long time ago".

 

She also would not be drawn on SSC's specific concerns about China's recent behaviour.

 

"I think everyone who has followed developments can see that the Chinese market is complex," she said.

 

"I won't go further into that, but we have clearly seen that it has influenced our view."

 

In 2008, SSC was spruiking its new office in Beijing as "an important step" to "maintain contacts and give local support to our Chinese customers as well as further explore our possibilities on a fast-growing Chinese space market".

 

The Yatharagga station was used in 2013 to monitor China's Shenzhou 10 launch, which was the nation's fifth crewed space mission.

 

The ABC has contacted the office of Industry and Science Minister Karen Andrews for comment.

Leaked Chinese database show company's interest in Australia's space and science sector

Australia's fledgling space sector is proving to be a hot target for Chinese snooping, with Beijing tracking the movement of top-secret equipment from a tracking station outside Canberra to NASA in the United States.

 

And Commonwealth scientists with world-leading expertise have also been targeted by a Chinese company with links to the People's Liberation Army.

 

A leaked database developed by Shenzhen-based data company Zhenhua Data, obtained by the ABC as part of an international consortium of media outlets, has more than 70 records that reference CSIRO's staff and classified operations.

 

One entry shows Zhenhua Data monitored the March 2019 transfer of "scientific equipment" from Canberra's Deep Space Communication Complex at Tidbinbilla all the way across the Pacific Ocean to NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California.

 

It records the name of the German-flagged container ship that took the cargo, as well as the Los Angeles-based customs company that took possession of the package after it arrived at the Long Beach port.

 

"This database has got a vast amount of import-export data that is scraped up, presumably, or stolen or supplied somehow from import-export agents," Clive Hamilton from Charles Sturt University told the ABC.

 

"So this database is not just tracking people, but also tracking the movement of goods which might be of interest to China's intelligence services."

 

The database also shows Zhenhua spied on CSIRO's "transformational bioinformatics team" which is researching artificial intelligence (AI) and genomics in medicine.

 

An AI researcher at the Australian National University has also been profiled by the Chinese firm, and Zhenhua has also documented the CSIRO's work in the search for missing Malaysian Airlines flight MH370 and exploration on Mars.

 

"There'd be hundreds of thousands of references to CSIRO available on the public record," Professor Hamilton said.

 

"But this database is not indiscriminate, it's curated by people sitting there and deciding what to leave in and what to keep a little bit more of."

 

Zhenhua's interest in the space sector is not limited to the CSIRO. The entire board of Gilmour Space Technology is profiled in the database.

 

"We are aware of this incident," a spokesperson for the company told the ABC.

 

"It is not an ideal situation, of course, but it is not unusual in our industry.

 

"We recognise that security is an ongoing concern for all companies developing innovative research and technology, and we are continuously evolving our processes and systems to mitigate these risks."
