What people tend to forget is that, if all goes to plan, many Democrats who are currently running will not be eligible to serve. Why do campaigns keep the most destructive info about a candidate to drop it in late September/early October? It's not only about the info but the fact that the opposing party can't replace their damaged candidate on the ballot. Most states do not allow the ballots to be changed after (varies by state) 30-45 days before the election. Write in campaigns seldom work and seeing the disgraced douchbag's name on the ballot turns off people to that candidates party downballot. If the douchebag happens to win, say because they're Leftards and their fellow Leftards will vote for them like the lemmings they are, the douchebag won't be able to serve. Depending on the state the governor can appoint someone or the seat stays vacant until a special election is held. The key is the douchebag is gone and whatever power and leverage goes with them. Think of all the power and leverage would be lost if the above happened to Nancy Pelosi, Chuckles Schumer or Adam Schiff.

BREAKING: Hundreds of officers sweep Huntington in massive drug takedown

The Herald-Dispatch

HUNTINGTON — Hundreds of federal, state and local officials teamed up Tuesday morning on what's being described as a "major takedown" of drug traffickers in the area.

U.S. Attorney Mike Stuart, representing the Southern District of West Virginia, announced the effort at 11 a.m., after Huntington residents had noticed hours of heavy police presence across the area in the form of helicopters, airplanes and armed officers conducting rapid raids in different neighborhoods.

He told media members Tuesday's effort might be largest drug takedown in the state and definitely is the largest in Huntington.

Stuart first announced the formation of Project Huntington on March 15, in response to the growing opioid epidemic and an uptick of violent crime in southern West Virginia. On Tuesday, in a takedown of federal and state targets, nearly 100 defendants were targeted for arrest, Stuart said in a news release issued prior to the press conference.

The effort is believed to have dismantled the Peterson Drug Trafficking Organization (DTO), a major multi-state heroin and fentanyl distribution network that has operated in Huntington for nearly 15 years, according to Stuart.

“This wasn’t all show," he told the media. "We took down an entire network.”

The Peterson DTO had been trafficking large amounts of heroin, fentanyl, and cocaine from Detroit to be sold in Huntington in street-level gram quantities. In August 2017, investigators executed a search warrant at Manget Peterson’s residence and an associated hotel room, where workers were distributing heroin. Multiple sources advised that the Peterson DTO distributed kilogram quantities of heroin in Huntington on a near-weekly basis, using a network of re-distributors.

On Tuesday morning, Manget Peterson was apprehended in Huntington and his brother, Willie Peterson, was apprehended in Detroit.

Also on Tuesday:

n At least 15 individuals involved in the Peterson DTO have been charged in a federal indictment in the Southern District of West Virginia with conspiracy to distribute heroin and fentanyl;

n 15 individuals involved in the Peterson DTO were indicted yesterday in Cabell County Circuit Court on state charges;

n Additional members of the Peterson DTO will be arrested and charged in Detroit;

n 13 individuals involved in narcotics and/or firearms that have been charged in federal indictments in the Southern District of West Virginia; and

n At least 48 individuals are targeted for arrest on various narcotics, violent crime, and firearms related charges at the federal or state level as determined by the circumstances of each matter.

More than 200 federal, state and local law enforcement officers took part in Tuesday’s take-down effort, according to Stuart, including Huntington Police, Drug Enforcement Administration, Cabell and Wayne county sheriffs and Marshall University police. The West Virginia National Guard also provided a number of personnel in a support function to the operation.

In conjunction with the arrest and search warrants executed in Huntington today, Stuart said it is anticipated federal authorities in Detroit will soon be executing additional arrest warrants and search warrants. Additional charges will be brought against individuals in the Eastern District of Michigan.

“Today’s actions have removed from our streets enough fentanyl to kill more than 250,000 people and massive amounts of other drugs that would have wreaked havoc and misery on our good citizens," Stuart said. "Today is a turning point for the City of Huntington and in the war against the opiate nightmare."

Supreme Court Justice Sotomayor Continues Duties After Breaking Shoulder

WASHINGTON ― U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor broke her right shoulder in a fall at her home, but will continue performing her duties as usual, a court spokeswoman said on Tuesday.

“She will wear a sling for several weeks and will undergo physical therapy,” spokeswoman Kathy Arberg said in a statement.

A Southwest Airlines flight landed safely in Philadelphia Tuesday after the jet violently depressurized when a piece of one of the jet’s engine flew into and broke a window, a passenger’s father tells NBC10.

Major South Korean Crypto Exchange Coinone To Launch In Indonesia

South Korea’s third largest cryptocurrency exchange, Coinone, has announced plans to launch an exchange in Indonesia, according to a press release published on its site Monday, April 16.

As stated in the Coinone’s press release, the new Indonesian branch opened for pre-registration April 16, with an official launch set for June. According to Finance Magnates, the exchange will initially support six cryptocurrencies: Bitcoin (BTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Ethereum (ETH), Ethereum Classic (ETC), Litecoin (LTC) and Quantum (QAU).

Users based outside of Indonesia will be able to use the platform after the pre-registration period, but will need to go through a separate KYC verification process, the exchange stated.

Coinone is currently ranked number 27 among crypto exchanges globally, with a 24-hour trading volume of $49 mln to press time. Finance Magnates reports that, according to the exchange, its overseas expansion makes it the “first among the top cryptocurrency exchanges in Korea to enter the global market.” Coinone explains that it chose Indonesia due to the country being “highly regarded for its potential growth in the Fintech industry.”

The company’s evaluation notwithstanding, Indonesia has a relatively tough crypto-regulatory climate. As of Jan. 2018, its central bank has adopted a harsh stance, warning citizens against selling, buying or trading cryptocurrency. Earlier, in October of last year, the bank reiterated that it does not recognize Bitcoin as a legal means of payment, causing two domestic crypto exchanges to shut down voluntarily.

On home territory, Seoul continues to actively regulate the country’s booming cryptocurrency sphere. On April 9, Cointelegraph reported that South Korea’s Financial Services Commission’s (FSC) has inspected three domestic banks serving crypto exchanges for compliance with anti-anonymity regulations that were introduced in January. Nonghyup Bank, Coinone’s service partner, is currently under scrutiny as part of these measures.

Headless doll triggers major police operation in Germany

BERLIN – An apparent headless body that prompted a major police operation in southern Germany has turned out to be a doll.

Police in Baden-Wuerttemberg state say a passer-by spotted what appeared to be a clothed but headless corpse covered in blood lying by a stream in Remstal, near Stuttgart, late Monday.

US hits major Chinese tech firm with export ban

The United States has cracked down on one of China’s biggest tech companies, banning it from buying components from American firms.

The move Monday by the US Commerce Department against ZTE, which sells smartphones and other telecommunications equipment around the world, comes amid a tense clash between the United States and China over trade and technology.

On the same day, ZTE also received a blow from the UK government, which warned telecom companies against using the Chinese firm’s equipment and services.

The US Commerce Department said that ZTE lied to American officials about punishing employees who violated US sanctions against North Korea and Iran. The Chinese company agreed to pay a $1.2 billion fine last year after a US investigation found it had illegally shipped telecommunications equipment to Iran and North Korea.

But instead of punishing those involved, “ZTE paid full bonuses to employees that had engaged in illegal conduct, and failed to issue letters of reprimand,” the Commerce Department said in a statement.

As a result, the department said it has imposed a seven-year export ban on ZTE, forbidding American companies from selling parts and providing services to it.

ZTE’s smartphones use microchips from Qualcomm and glass from Corning.

ZTE said in a brief statement Tuesday that it is aware of the US ban.

“At present, the company is assessing the full range of potential implications that this event has on the company and is communicating with relevant parties proactively in order to respond accordingly,” it said.

The company’s shares were suspended from trading in Hong Kong on Tuesday following the US announcement.

ZTE didn’t address the developments in the United Kingdom, where the country’s National Cyber Security Centre warned phone carriers that using the Chinese company’s equipment and services poses risks to national security.

The US crackdown on ZTE comes at a delicate time for economic relations between Washington and Beijing. The two sides have threatened each other with waves of new tariffs on tens of billions of dollars of exports.

China’s rise as a global tech powerhouse is at the heart of the trade clash. The United States accuses it of stealing American intellectual property and forcing companies to hand over sensitive technology.

Beijing has rejected the allegations, arguing that it is stepping up efforts to protect intellectual property and that any technology transferred from US companies was done so with their permission.

China’s Ministry of Commerce said Tuesday, that it “will closely follow the developments” in the ZTE case.

“ZTE has a wide range of trade and investment cooperation with several hundred American companies, providing the United States with thousands of jobs,” the ministry said in a statement.

“We stand ready to take necessary measures to protect Chinese companies’ legitimate rights and interests,” it added.

ZTE and Huawei, another huge Chinese company that makes smartphones and telecommunications equipment, have repeatedly come under fire in the United States in the past.

In February, US intelligence agencies warned Americans against buying ZTE and Huawei phones, saying the companies posed a security threat to American customers.

Huawei phones are already effectively shut out of the US market, but ZTE has made inroads. It accounted for 10% of the US smartphone market last year, making it the fourth largest supplier, according to market research firm Counterpoint Technology.

ZTE and Huawei’s alleged ties to the Chinese government were also the subject of a US congressional report in 2012 that focused on the equipment they make for telecommunications networks. The report said the companies “cannot be trusted to be free of foreign state influence and thus pose a security threat to the United States and to our systems.”

The Chinese companies strongly disputed the report’s findings.
