A sheriff's sergeant is questioning the rescued Zion National Park hiker's story, saying there's no way she could have survived for 2 weeks off river water

 

An official who aided in the search for Holly Suzanne Courtier, the woman who was found nearly two weeks after disappearing during a hike in Zion National Park, is questioning her family's story of how she survived with little water and no food.

 

Courtier, a 38-year-old from California, was found on Sunday about a half-mile from the parking lot where she began what was supposed to be a day hike through the Utah park.

 

In a Sunday statement, Zion National Park officials said Courtier was found in a thickly-vegetated area near the Virgin River.

 

Sgt. Darrell Cashin, who served as an advisor in the park's search efforts for Courtier, told ABC 4 she left California in the middle of the night without without telling her family where she was going.

 

Courtier's daughter, Kailey Chambers, told CNN on Tuesday that her mother had hit her head early on in the hike, and then decided to stick close to a river, thinking it was her best shot at survival. Chambers did not say whether Courtier drank from the river, and CNN said it was not clear from the interview whether the water was potable.

 

Cashin, who works for the Washington County Sheriff's Search and Rescue, said it's likely Courtier would have died if she drank from it.

 

If she had been drinking that water, unless she had some really high immune system, she would've been very, very ill and probably unable to come out on her own," Cashin told ABC 4.

 

"She either took a lot of water with her or had another clean water source that was near here, but the Virgin River is not that source."

 

Cashin also told the local St. George News: "Had she been drinking that water, she would be extremely ill or passed on by now. If she did have a good water source, what was it?"

 

Chambers told CNN that Courtier recounted that during her time in the park, she became so dehydrated that she couldn't open her mouth.

 

Cashin said this did not line up with the statement park officials released when Courtier was found, saying she was "able to leave of her own capability with minimal assistance."

 

"Was she that bad or was she not?" Cashin told St. George News.

 

He said that if Courtier had really hit her head, and if she was as dehydrated as she told her family, search-and-rescue teams would have immediately called an ambulance when they found her.

 

Courtier spent the night at the hotel after she was found, CNN reported, though it is not clear who took her there.

 

"If we had found somebody in that condition with that kind of severe head injury, we would have at minimum called for a transport agency to check her out," Cashin told ABC 4. "The fact that that didn't happen tells me that they did not find any significant injury to her that would've prompted them to do that."

 

"The statements that the family is giving and the statements that the park is giving don't add up," he added. "Those are the types of questions I think everybody has. I think the place where that question can be answered is with her."

 

Neither Courtier's daughter nor Zion National Park immediately responded to Insider's request for comment.

Something that needs to be stated about the movie Crimson Tide: in the film, they DO IN FACT RUN A DRILL, and they run it on October 23rd.

 

The day in the Movie that they authorize use of live weapons is NOVEMEBER 1st. This is the day where it's "not a drill."

 

I think it's possible that Q is doing a head-fake on the enemy, and that the ACTUAL booms are coming the day AFTER nukes are authorized in the movie.

I. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

In late 2013 and into 2014, mass protests erupted in Kyiv, Ukraine, demanding integration into western economies and an end to systemic corruption that had plagued thecountry. At least 82 people were killed during the protests, which culminated on Feb. 21 when

 

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych abdicated by fleeing the country. Less than two months later, over the span of only 28 days, significant events involving the Bidens unfolded.

 

On April 16, 2014, Vice President Biden met with his son’s business partner, Devon Archer, at the White House. Five days later, Vice President Biden visited Ukraine, and he soonafter was described in the press as the β€œpublic face of the administration’s handling of Ukraine.”

 

The day after his visit, on April 22, Archer joined the board of Burisma. Six days later, on April 28, British officials seized $23 million from the London bank accounts of Burisma’s owner, Mykola Zlochevsky. Fourteen days later, on May 12, Hunter Biden joined the board of Burisma, and over the course of the next several years, Hunter Biden and Devon Archer were paid millions of dollars from a corrupt Ukrainian oligarch for their participation on the board.

 

The 2014 protests in Kyiv came to be known as the Revolution of Dignity β€” a revolution against corruption in Ukraine. Following that revolution, Ukrainian political figures were desperate for U.S. support. Zlochevsky would have made sure relevant Ukrainian officials were well aware of Hunter’s appointment to Burisma’s board as leverage. Hunter Biden’s position on the board created an immediate potential conflict of interest that would prove to be problematic for both U.S. and Ukrainian officials and would affect the implementation of Ukraine policy.

 

The Chairmen’s investigation into potential conflicts of interest began in August 2019, with Chairman Grassley’s letter to the Department of Treasury regarding potential conflicts of interest with respect to Obama administration policy relating to the Henniges transaction

 

  1. During the Obama administration, the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) approved a transaction that gave control over Henniges, an American maker of antivibration technologies with military applications, to a Chinese government-owned aviation company and a China-based investment firm with established ties to the Chinese government.

 

One of the companies involved in the Henniges transaction was a billion-dollar private investment fund called Bohai Harvest RST (BHR). BHR was formed in November 2013 by a merger between the Chinese-government-linked firm Bohai Capital and a company named Rosemont Seneca Partners. Rosemont Seneca was formed in 2009 by Hunter Biden, the son of then-Vice President Joe Biden, by Chris Heinz, the stepson of former Secretary of State John

If you’re not extremely online, you may have been confused three weeks ago when President Trump was asked to condemn a group called the Proud Boys at the first presidential debate.

 

As my colleague Jane Coaston has explained, the Proud Boys are a hodgepodge of men’s right’s groups and pro-Trump street-fighting clubs that emerged in 2016 as a counterweight to antifa and other lefty protesters. But for most people who don’t follow politics all that closely, the debate was likely the first time hearing anything about them.

 

It was, for that reason, one of those strange moments in which the weird world of the online berserk spilled into the political mainstream. Indeed, given all the coverage the Proud Boys received after the debate, it may not be accurate to call them β€œfringe” any longer.

 

Which is why I reached out to Andrew Marantz, a writer at the New Yorker who spent years immersed in the world of online extremists. In his 2019 book, Antisocial, Marantz interviewed conspiracy theorists, alt-right trolls, and various media gate crashers who have flooded the virtual space and, in his words, β€œhijacked the American conversation.” The book is a fascinating guide through the digital wilderness, and it’s even more relevant now that several US intelligence agencies have warned of increased election-related threats from domestic extremist groups.

 

Marantz and I discussed how online extremism has evolved since his book was released, if he thinks the threat is being overstated, and the role of the tech companies in perpetuating all these problems. I also asked him if we just have to accept that American politics in the years to come is going to look increasingly like the darkest corners of the web.

Surprisingly large number of Trump followers subscribe to QAnon conspiracy theories.

 

With less than two weeks left until the US presidential elections, a new poll has found that nearly half of Donald Trump’s supporters believe in the QAnon conspiracy theories that the president is in a battle with the deep state and paedophilic groups.

 

QAnon, is a group that believes that there is a widespread conspiracy in the US which is part of a cabal that involves the Democratic Party, satan worshipers and paedophile groups that want to bring down Trump.

 

Trump supporters were more likely to believe that the US president was in a titanic battle against these groups according to Yahoo News/YouGov study.

 

The conspiracy has gained traction in recent years with Trump at crucial moments fanning central ideas of the movement.

 

During an NBC town hall meeting, Trump was asked to distance himself from QAnon to which he replied "I know nothing about QAnon" adding that the only thing he knows is that "they are very strongly against paedophilia and I agree with that."

 

The statement was interpreted as support for the group and its central unifying theme. Trump is also acutely aware that in a tight election campaign he can not alienate a key voter demographic which includes conspiracy theorists.

 

QAnon has been labelled by the FBI a β€œconspiracy theory-driven domestic extremists” organisation.

 

In an internal assessment, the FBI noted that β€œthese conspiracy theories very likely will emerge, spread, and evolve in the modern information marketplace, occasionally driving both groups and individual extremists to carry out criminal or violent acts."

 

QAnon conspiracy has also been linked with white supremacist organisation which according to the FBI drive the β€œmajority of the domestic terrorism cases” in the US.

 

One of the reasons is why QAnon has been labelled as an emerging terrorist threat is because people associated with the group’s core ideas could commit acts of terrorism towards groups of people and organisations they deem to be part of the secretive cabal.

 

QAnon, however, is not simply confined to the US.

 

The ideas of the group have found fertile ground across the Atlantic ocean and in the UK.

 

A recent study in the UK has found that 25 percent of adults agreed that β€œsecret satanic cults exist and include influential elites” and a similar portion believed that β€œelites in Hollywood, politics, the media and other powerful positions” are engaged in industrial-scale abuse.

 

One of the main reasons QAnon has found itself gaining traction is because of the discovery of high profile sexual predators like Jeffrey Epstein who was found to be procuring underage age girls for friends who were celebrities, politicians, business moguls and royalty.

 

The US-based Epstein had over decades cultivated friendships with well-known politicians like Bill Clinton, Donald Trump and even the famous model Naomi Campbell. There are no suggestions that those individuals knew what Epstein was doing, however, Epstein was able to use his power and privilege to silence his victims from coming forward.

 

In the UK over the years there have been revelations of high profile personalities engaged in paedophilia which has shocked people.

 

A famous celebrity in the UK by the name of Jimmy Saville, who was working for the BBC, abused more than 1,000 children over the span of several decades which only came to light after his death.

 

There were also reports in the UK media the members of parliament had strangled and killed a 12 year-year-old boy during a sex orgy in the 1980s.

 

As a result of the revelations, there was widespread outrage from people who felt that institutions had covered up instead of investigating historic reports of abuse.

 

The resulting loss of trust in institutions to fully grasp the scale of these scandals has resulted in a slow drift of people willing to believe in conspiracy groups like QAnon.

To transport oil and gas from the east side of the Caspian Sea, pipelines had been planned through Afghanistan. Because a US company, UNOCAL, failed to control the Afghan route, the war was prepared. On December 25, 1991, the Soviet flag was lowered from the Kremlin for the last time. [4] The former Soviet republics become independent. Among them were the countries around the Caspian Sea, all rich in oil and gas. [MAP: http://worldatlas.com/webimage/countrys/as.htm ]

 

Before, the oil and gas went through pipelines to their soviet neighbours, or were exported via Russia to Europe. Now each country could sell its own oil and gas and explore new markets. Buyers showed up from everywhere.

 

In the beginning, the new leaders still had no experience with the world oil business. One of the first deals of Turkmenistan was to auction an oil well for as little as $100,000. [5] US companies showed up, too.

 

The biggest challenge was to get the Caspian oil and gas to the world markets. The problem? The region is land-locked. If you trust neither Russia on the North side of the Caspian Sea, nor Iran on the South side, you need to build new pipelines. Today, from the West side of the Caspian Sea, oil is pumped through several pipelines towards the Black Sea and the Mediterranean Sea from where it can be shipped.

 

Big business on the East side of the Caspian Sea is still limited. To unlock oil and gas from this side, pipelines have to be built through Afghanistan. Here, since the early nineties, two pipelines - one for oil and one for gas - have been in project. The oil pipe should go South to the Indian Ocean, ending at the port of Gwadar in Pakistan.

China’s Afghan Game Plan

 

In his latest book, On China, Henry Kissinger uses the traditional intellectual games favored by China and the West – weiqi and chess – as a way to reveal their differing attitudes toward international power politics. Chess is about total victory, a Clausewitzian battle for the β€œcenter of gravity” and the eventual elimination of the enemy, whereas weiqi is a quest for relative advantage through a strategy of encirclement that avoids direct conflict.

 

This cultural contrast is a useful guide to the way that China manages its current competition with the West. China’s Afghan policy is a case in point, but it also is a formidable challenge to the weiqi way. As the United States prepares to withdraw its troops from the country, China must deal with an uncertain post-war scenario.

 

Afghanistan is of vital strategic interest to China, yet it never crossed its leaders’ minds to defend those interests through war. A vital security zone to China’s west, Afghanistan is also an important corridor through which it can secure its interests in Pakistan (a traditional ally in China’s competition with India), and ensure its access to vital natural resources in the region. Moreover, China’s already restless Muslim-majority province of Xinjiang, which borders on Afghanistan, might be dangerously affected by a Taliban takeover there, or by the country’s dismemberment.

 

The US fought its longest-ever war in Afghanistan, at a cost (so far) of more than $555 billion, not to mention tens of thousands of Afghan civilian casualties and close to 3,100 US troops killed. But China’s strategy in the country was mostly focused on business development, and on satiating its vast appetite for energy and minerals. The US Defense Department has valued Afghanistan’s untapped mineral deposits at $1 trillion. But it is China that is now poised to exploit much of these resources.

 

Indeed, China’s development of the Aynak Copper Mine was the largest single foreign direct investment in Afghanistan’s history. China was also engaged in constructing a $500 million electric plant and railway link between Tajikistan and Pakistan. Last December, China’s state-owned National Petroleum Corporation signed a deal with the Afghan authorities that would make it the first foreign company to exploit Afghanistan’s oil and natural-gas reserves.
