I've been on this board everyday since the days of the CBTS threads on /pol/ and it has always been truly incredible.. This is the greatest hive mind put together in history. A graduate art student at the University of Utah has installed a closet on campus for stressed students to cry in following final exams.

 

The “cry closet,” an art project by graduate student Nemo Miller, provides a space for students to cry privately on campus. The closet is equipped with several stuffed animals. There are two lights that can be adjusted to meet the student’s specific preference. On the closet door, there is a list of rules. According to the rules, students must knock before entering and may spend no more than 10 minutes in the closet.

 

The art installation went viral on Twitter earlier this week when a University of Utah student took to social media to make fun of the “cry closet.”

 

“So my school installed a cry closet in the library LMFAOOOOOOOOO what is higher education,” the user tweeted. The tweet has received over 160,000 retweets and over 453,000 likes.

 

An article from the University of Utah’s student newspaper argues that the installation has helped stressed students out as they go through final exams. In an interview with the student newspaper, Miller explained that the closet was designed to provide stressed students with a space to feel safe.

 

“The initial idea of when I was rationalizing why I wanted to make a safe space really came from the idea of me personally graduating and trying to provide myself a space of safety and I was like, I guarantee other students need that too,” Miller stated.

Tennessee's Pro-Life Plans Now Include This 'Monument to Unborn Children'

 

Tennessee is moving ahead with plans to construct a monument that will honor the lives of unborn children who were victims of abortion.

 

"The taking of the life of a baby in the womb is related to this brand of inhumanity," state Rep. Bill Dunn (R-Knoxville) said.

 

The Tennessee Senate passed a bill earlier this week to develop and implement a plan for the commissioning of the memorial.

 

Republicans say the monument would also recognize the pain of the secondary victims involved in abortions.

 

"While the baby can be seen as the obvious victim…the women coerced into abortion, the fathers who can't protect their unborn child, the brothers and sisters who lose a sibling, and society as a whole who becomes coarsened because life is cheapened," Dunn said, describing the others who would be honored.

 

The bill proposes that private funds be raised for the monument which will be named, "Tennessee Monument to Unborn Children, In Memory of the Victims of Abortion: Babies, Women, and Men." It would stand on the grounds of the state capitol in Nashville.

Democrats demand Homeland Security hand over documents on immigration chief

 

Thomas Homan, President Donald Trump’s pick to permanently lead the nation’s immigration enforcement agency, has been in limbo since his nomination last November - and Democratic senators want to know why.

 

In a letter being released Friday, nearly 20 Senate Democrats said they want the Department of Homeland Security to hand over documents shedding more light on Homan and his formal nomination to become the next director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

 

The nomination of Homan, who has been leading the immigration agency in an acting capacity since the beginning of Trump’s presidency, has stalled since it was officially submitted to the Senate on Nov. 14, 2017, with no confirmation hearing nor movement in the chamber.
