Miller demanding an immediate halt to the improper process of installing unqualified Trump-loyalist Michael Ellis as the new National Security Agency General Counsel 72 hours prior to the beginning of the new Administration.

 

In the letter, the Speaker wrote, β€œPublic reporting indicates that Mr. Ellis, a relatively recent law school graduate with a limited resume, was selected due to interference by the White House, and was chosen over much more qualified candidates. Moreover, Mr. Ellis has been reportedly involved in highly questionable activities that are disqualifying – including the infamous 2017 β€˜midnight run’ to launder intelligence information through Rep. Liberal media, Big Tech increase calls to 'deprogram,' deplatform Trump supporters

 

Lincoln Project threatens Expedia group: 'You will feel immense pain if we fight'

 

Liberal journalists and social media voices have stepped up their calls to "deprogram," deplatform or outright threaten right-leaning voices in the aftermath of the deadly Capitol riot earlier this month.

 

During an appearance Friday on "Real Time with Bill Maher," former CBS News anchor Katie Couric ripped the Republicans in Congress who voted against impeaching President Trump over a charge of inciting rioters on Jan. 6.

 

"The question is how are we going to really almost deprogram these people who have signed up for the cult of Trump," Couric said.

 

Her language mirrored that of liberal Washington Post columnist Eugene Robinson in the aftermath of the riot, when a pro-Trump mob stormed the Capitol building in a deadly melee.

 

Robinson said last week on MSNBC "there are millions of Americans, almost all White, almost all Republicans, who somehow need to be deprogrammed," calling them members of a "Trumpist cult."

 

Forbes published an op-ed last week warning companies against hiring anyone who worked in communications for the Trump White House.

 

"Let it be known to the business world: Hire any of Trump’s fellow fabulists above, and Forbes will assume that everything your company or firm talks about is a lie," Randall Lane wrote.

 

Since the riot, Twitter and other social media outlets have banned Trump, and Google, Apple and Amazon deplatformed the right-leaning social media app Parler. On CNN's "Reliable Sources" on Sunday, former Facebook chief security officer Alex Stamos called on Big Tech and major carriers like Verizon and AT&T to effectively deplatform right-wing outlets in the name of purging misinformation.

Incoming White House Climate Team Blames β€˜Systemic Racism’ for Climate Change

A pair of top incoming White House environmental aides has blamed "systemic racism" as a driver of climate change in an attempt to justify a government-led economic overhaul.

 

President-elect Joe Biden named progressive policy adviser Maggie Thomas as Office of Domestic Climate Policy chief of staff and climate advocate Cecilia Martinez as "senior director for environmental justice" on Thursday. Both Thomas and Martinez have cited racial inequality as perpetuating climate change, arguing that the Biden administration's environmental policy must be centered on "racial and economic justice."

 

"Unless intentionally interrupted, systemic racism will continue to be a major obstacle to creating a healthy planet," Martinez said in a 2019 press release touting her "Equitable & Just" climate platform. "The only path forward is to design national climate policies that are centered on justice."

 

For Thomas and Martinez, such policies require "massive" government spending and the "realignment of public dollars at all levels." Thomas's climate plan demands "trillions" in public investmentβ€”not only to "crack down" on oil production and shift away from the nation's "fossil fuel economy" but also to fund welfare programs, including rent and utility relief. Martinez's platform calls for much of the same, including increased government investment into "affordable and quality housing."

 

Progressives' most ambitious climate goals are likely to face congressional opposition from centrist Democrats. Sen. Joe Manchin (D., W. Va.) recently told the Washington Examiner that he would oppose a federal mandate to make utilities carbon-free within 15 years. But Biden could use executive action to implement some of his team's far-left climate-policy priorities. Thomas's climate plan, for example, calls on the president-elect to issue an executive order "on day 1" establishing a "government-wide environmental justice initiative" tasked with centering "federal environmental policy around equity, justice, and inclusion."

 

Power the Future founder and executive director Daniel Turner accused Biden's climate team of using "racism" and "justice" to "nationalize the nation's energy industry."

 

"Punishing America's energy workers will do nothing to address climate change and it will do nothing to address injustices. It will, however, cause the prices of gas and utilities to rise sharply, and that will punish the less privileged most of all," Turner told the Washington Free Beacon. "We do need to talk about housing, employment, and racism, but doing so under the pretext of energy policy will deliver muddied, expensive, and pointless legislation."

 

The Biden transition team did not return a request for comment.

Joe Biden's pick for a top Pentagon post works at a research center partnered with China's Peking University, a school that has long been eyed as a security risk by western intelligence.

 

Colin Kahl, whom Biden tapped for undersecretary of defense for policy, has served as a senior fellow at the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies at Stanford University since the beginning of 2018. The institute oversees the Stanford Center at Peking University in northern Beijing, which opened in 2012.

 

Peking University, which is run by former Beijing spy chief Qiu Shuiping and has been linked to multiple espionage cases in the United States, recently updated its charter to require loyalty to the Chinese Communist Party, according to an NPR report. The school has also been ramping up its student and faculty surveillance system in what China watchers see as part of the government's broader crackdown on independent scholarship.

 

Kahl is not the first Biden nominee whose employer has business entanglements in China. Biden's pick for secretary of state, Antony Blinken, cofounded the consulting firm WestExec, which helped U.S. universities raise money from China without running afoul of Pentagon grant requirements, the Washington Free Beacon reported last month. WestExec scrubbed the details of this work from its website over the summer.

 

The association could be an obstacle for Kahl, who will need Senate confirmation. Congressional Republicans and federal law-enforcement agencies have expressed growing concerns about China's attempts to influence American academics through university partnerships and donations. Last year, the Department of Justice charged at least 17 academics affiliated with U.S. universities with secretly working for China, including one medical researcher at Stanford University.

 

"China has made a no holds barred effort to compromise China scholars," said Steven Mosher, a China expert and human-rights advocate.

 

Kahl, a longtime Biden national-security adviser and DJ, was closely involved in crafting the Obama administration's Iran nuclear deal and reportedly played a key role in removing language identifying Jerusalem as Israel's capital from the 2012 Democratic National Convention platform.

 

Kahl has slammed the Trump administration's Asia policy as a "train wreck," accusing President Trump in a tweet of "falling in love with autocrats in NKorea & China" and "ignoring human rights in Hong Kong."

Throughout history, aristocrats, and their flaks such as their β€˜news’-media, cast blame downward, away from themselves who collectively control the government, and onto, instead, some minority or other mass group, who can’t even plan or function together so as to be able to control the government.

 

The U.S. has a two-Party aristocracy, as is clear from the β€œOpen Secrets” list of the 100 biggest political donors in the 2020 U.S. Presidential and congressional campaigns, the β€œ2020 Top Donors to Outside Spending Groups”. Those are only these individuals’ publicly acknowledged expenditures, none of the dark political money, which, of course, is donated secretly. At the top there, of the donors’ lists, is Sheldon Adelson (who just died, on January 11th in California, and was buried in Israel), who spent far more than anyone in all of U.S. history had ever spent in any campaign cycle, $215 million, which amount far exceeded even the $82 million that he had spent in 2016, which in 2016 was second only to Thomas Steyer’s $92 million (the previous all-time highest amount donated in any campaign year). Adelson gave exclusively to Republicans, whereas Steyer gave exclusively to Democrats. Steyer in 2020 gave $67 million, which β€” though he was running for President in 2020, and hadn’t been running in 2016 β€” was only 73% of his 2016 donations, in that year, when he had been the nation’s top political donor. He was only the 5th-biggest donor in 2020, instead of #1.

 

The second-biggest donor in 2020 was the liberal Republican Michael Bloomberg, who ran in the Democratic Presidential primaries in order to defeat the only progressive in that contest, who was Bernie Sanders. Bloomberg spent $151 million of his own funds for that purpose. In 2016, he had spent $24 million in order to help Hillary Clinton beat Bernie Sanders, and then try to beat Donald Trump.

 

The third-biggest in 2020 was Timothy Mellon, the son of Paul Mellon and grandson of Andrew Mellon. Timothy Mellon gave $70 million, all to Republicans.

 

In 2020, the top ten donors, collectively, spent $776 million to own their chunk of the U.S. Government. The second group of ten (#s 11-20) donated only $187 million; and, so, the top twenty together donated $963 million, just shy of $1 trillion. All 80 of the other top-100 donors, together, gave around $370 million, so that the total from all 100 was around one-and-a-third trillion dollars. 47 gave to Republicans; 53 gave to Democrats.

 

The smallest publicly acknowledged donor among the top 100, Foster Friess, gave $2.4 million, all to Republicans.

 

Most of these 100 donors are among America’s approximately 700 billionaires; and, even the ones who aren’t are serving and doing business with the billionaires, and therefore are to some extent dependent upon having good relations with them, not being enemies of any billionaire. All of these 100 are, obviously, also dependent upon the governmental decisions that the public officials whom they have purchased will be making, not only regarding regulations and laws, but also regarding foreign policies. For example, Friess merged his company into Affiliated Management Group, which β€œis a global asset management firm” that β€œhas grown to approximately $730 billion.” Virtually all of the top 100 political donors are internationally invested, and their personal wealth is therefore affected by American foreign policies, in ways that the personal wealth of the rest of the population is not.

Roe v. Wade was a case brought by a Texas woman against Henry Wade, the district attorney of Dallas County. She said Texas laws making abortion largely illegal violated her constitutional rights.

The Coalition claimed its intention to suit Google too. Parler and Telegram were accused of failing to crack down on extremist conversation amid the January 6 U.S. Capitol assault. However, Apple is not in a hurry to take action against Telegram.

 

Director of the Coalition Mark Ginsberg says he has the right to file a lawsuit against Apple requiring the company to comply with a terms of service prohibiting hate speech and incitement to violence in apps hosted on the App Store. The lawsuit also alleges emotional distress through negligence and a violation of the California business code.

The U.S. Marshals said that about 2,000 National Guard troops were sworn in as U.S. Marshals before Inauguration Day.

 

Chief Lamont Ruffin from D.C. District Court swore in the 2,000 National Guard troops as special deputy U.S. Marshals prior to the upcoming presidential inauguration, according to the federal law enforcement agency’s Twitter page.

 

The β€œdeputation gives the guardsmen temporary, limited, law enforcement authority pertaining specifically to the safety and protection of the inauguration and related events,” said the U.S. Marshals in a caption on its Flickr page, showing the Guard troops being deputized at night.

 

The U.S. Marshals Service didn’t respond to a request from The Epoch Times about the duties of the newly-sworn-in special deputies.

 

Last week, officials confirmed that as many as 25,000 National Guard members were deployed to the District of Columbia for Inauguration Day.

 

A statement from the Army to news outlets said the increase in Guard troops would support the β€œfederal law enforcement mission and security preparations” during the inauguration, and it would be led by the U.S. Secret Service. β€œOur National Guard soldiers and airmen are set around the city to protect our nation’s Capital,” National Guard Bureau Chief Army Gen. Daniel Hokanson said in the statement.

 

Last week, the FBI sent out bulletins for the possibility of violence during Jan. 20’s events. Meanwhile, President Donald Trump called on Americans not to break the law.

Apple's Cook Says Parler Could Return To App Store With Reforms

 

Parler, the social network popular among conservatives, could return to Apple's App Store if it changes how it moderates posts on the platform, the tech giant's CEO Tim Cook said Sunday.

 

Apple suspended all downloads of the Parler app following the attack on the US Capitol on January 6, citing postings on the platform that could incite further violence. Google and Amazon also cut ties with the company.

 

Speaking to Fox News Sunday, Cook justified suspending Parler, favored by supporters of President Donald Trump.

 

"We looked at the incitement to violence that was on there, and we don't consider that free speech and incitement to violence has an intersection," Cook said.

 

Parler sued Amazon on Monday after Amazon Web Services cut off the platform's access to internet servers.

 

Parler alleged Amazon was violating antitrust laws and acting to help social rival Twitter, which also has banned Trump for language that could incite violence

 

In Apple's case, "we've only suspended them," Cook said. "So, if they get their moderation together, they would be back on" the App Store.

Well, all I can say is Ospreys and Blackhawks pop out of nowhere at some facility in So Indiana and land at Bowmen Field Louisville.
