China-Myanmar relations: An old friendship renewed by the Belt & Road

 

Since 2013, China has been actively reviving these historic silk roads and physical linkages that once knitted peoples and civilizations in the vast Afro-Eurasia supercontinent together through their modern-day incarnations, collectively labeled as the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

 

Myanmar plays a very critical role within the scope of the BRI. The planned Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar Economic Corridor carving out a path of connective infrastructure from Kunming to Kolkata crosses Myanmar's Mandalay; the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor (CMEC) provides for greater intra-Myanmar transport connectivity while facilitating economic integration between Myanmar and China's inland province of Yunnan; and the Kyaukphyu seaport on the Bay of Bengal is an integral part of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, the maritime component of the BRI, for expanding and upgrading global shipping capacity.

 

Myanmar has proved a firm supporter of the BRI corridors and projects. State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi attended both BRI summits in 2017 and 2019. I have been doing some continuing education, and interestingly the classes over the past 5 months have been art history courses. I spent a week angry and grieving. A few days reflecting and this past weekend laughing hysterically at the WSB/$GME saga. The veil is so thin right now, the populist ire is activated.

I am not ashamed to say that I miss the pace and intensity of the battles during the Trump era. The rallies, the tweets, the leadership. But I am settling down a bit, getting some distance from the hopium. And I am encouraged. We are awake, we are well funded, we are decentralized, we are smart, we are engaged, we are waiting.

Mint is debian based like Ubuntu. If you have some experience, building a plain vanilla VM with a debian netinstall iso is quick & dirty. Just choose a light graphical environment when the option comes up in the install.

There a a bunch of narratives about power, who has it and/or is trying acquire it, and why, but most of them don't seem logical.

When I ran across the idea that the Sun nova's on a 12K year cycle, it all kind of started to make sense. It would seem to me that there are those in who know (or think they know) that the earth will be hit with a major catastrophe in about 20 years. They believe it is impossible to save everyone and so they think saving the smartest (what ever that means) is best of the future of humanity. They know they will need alot or resources to support 500 Million people for 40 years without the sun. They think that if they reduce the population to 500M by 2030, they will have about 15 years to stockpile excess resources. Since the need to kill off about 7.5Billion people, using things like child/human sacrifice as a control mechanism to keep the group in line is not ethically an issue since the kids/people will have to die anyway, but for the time being it is an easy way to keep the group inline since the masses do have a moral issue with it.

This puts a nice bow around the global warming narrative (blame humans when it is an inevitable outcome of the suns Glysberg cycle), the 'We will know our disinformation campain is complete… statement, the "If the people were to ever find out what we have done, we would be chased down the streets and lynched." statement, and they 'they have tried to undo the secrecy but they can not figure out how' statements.

While the data/research seems to support the 12k cycle coming to a head in the next 20 year, conclusions the group who feels it is their right and duty to determine the solution to the problem is indeed well beyond what the majority of humanity would consider reasonable. No doubt if the cycle is true, parts of the population would live for the moment know and chaos would rise in some places. But other parts of the population would work their buts off to try to find a solution that would save a lot more or all of the population. I have no idea if we could succeed, but I would rather have a meaningful existence trying to build something to help save people from a certain fate than live in this dystopian reality that is being created because of some elite's demented idea of the greater good.
