OAN: Report: Military Members Resisting Getting COVID Vaccination

According to testimony by military leaders before the House Armed Services Committee, troops are putting off receiving the coronavirus vaccine. On Wednesday, members of the Joint Chiefs told Congress around two-thirds of service members have been vaccinated, but some refused the treatment.

According to reports, officials said refusal rates varied and depended on factors like age, location and deployment status. Commanders said they worked hard to make sure troops could operate in a COVID environment before vaccines were available.

“We don’t precisely know why an individual has not received a vaccine,” Maj. Gen. Jeff Taliaferro, Joint Chiefs of Staff Vice Director for Operations, said. “We think it’s important that this department continues to communicate to our service members the value of the vaccine, the safety of the vaccine with continued leadership involvement to help our service members understand that.”

One commander said vaccines aren’t mandatory yet, but will likely become mandatory as soon as possible.

I am not surprised that I am having difficulty finding a lawyer to represent me to defend me against the State Bar of Georgia’s efforts to revoke my law license and order me to submit to a mental health examination by an unidentified doctor without even setting forth the factual grounds justifying such an intrusive process (truth is that there are no such grounds in my case).

There are not many Atticus Finch’s in the legal world these days.

But I understand the lawyers’ fears. They are afraid the GA State Bar and the “Good Old Boy” power network in Georgia will turn on them next and try destroy their law practice and means of making a living.

What these lawyers do not realize is that today it is me, tomorrow it will be them.

If the GA State Bar can “take me down” in pursuit of its political agenda, it can take down ANY lawyer with whom it deems opposes the Bar’s agenda.

Such efforts violate an individual’s Constitutional right to effective counsel of his or her choice.

Talk about a slippery slope . . .

Hong Kong Aiming For Legislation To Ban Insulting Public Officials

If you thought there were free speech issues in the U.S., you haven't seen anything yet.

Hong Kong's government is currently in the process of introducing legislation that would prohibit insulting public officials. We can only imagine the insults that were muttered when local citizens read the news from local media.

Hong Kong's Security Bureau is in the midst of leading a study on how the legislation could work and how it would be overseen, according to Bloomberg. Local outlets said, citing Civil Service Secretary Patrick Nip, that the issue was under examination.

The legislation would be part of a broader agenda by China to "erode basic freedoms" in Hong Kong. The move would be the biggest to censor free speech in Hong Kong since China's institution of a law that has been used to combat mass protests in Hong Kong.

Beijing has also implemented a "patriotism test" to weed out pro-Democracy lawmakers. The test prompted mass resignations from opposition members in the Legislative Council last November, Bloomberg notes. Bloomberg also noted that Hong Kong judges and law enforcement are unlikely to challenge any new legislation from Beijing:

Earlier this month, Hong Kong’s top court ordered that media tycoon and democracy activist Jimmy Lai remain in jail ahead of his trial on foreign collusion charges, a victory for Beijing that suggested Hong Kong judges were unlikely to challenge the security law. Hong Kong police also separately arrested Lai for assisting in an activist’s attempt to flee to Taiwan, the Oriental Daily reported on Wednesday, without citing anyone.

Recall, back in June 2020, Hong Kong passed a law banning insults to China's National Anthem.

Trump Impeachment Attorney Canceled by Law School, Civil Rights Law Group

An attorney who represented President Donald Trump during the recent impeachment trial says a law school canceled a civil rights law course he was going to teach and he was suspended from a civil rights lawyer email discussion list.

“I was hoping to teach a civil rights course at a law school in the fall. We’ve been in talks about it, kind of planning it out. I wrote to them and I said, ‘I want you to know, I’m gonna be representing Donald Trump in the impeachment case. I don’t know if that impacts on your decision at all,’” David Schoen, one of the three attorneys who argued before the Senate, told The Epoch Times.

“And they said, you know, they appreciated my writing and, frankly, it would make some students and faculty uncomfortable, so I couldn’t do it.

“That was sad for me because I really want to go more and more into teaching. I like doing that,” Schoen said.

Schoen, an Alabama-based lawyer recognized for his civil rights litigation, declined to name the school that canceled his course. He likewise declined to name the legal organization behind the email list that suspended him.

“They actually spent 48 hours discussing this with their board and so on. And they decided that they needed to suspend me from the list,” Schoen said. “It’s a very important one to me. It’s very prominent civil rights lawyers and fine people.”

Schoen delivered an impassioned argument on the first day of the trial for why the Senate didn’t have jurisdiction to try a former president. At the conclusion of his remarks, he appeared to be choking back tears as he read an 1849 poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow titled “The Building of the Ship.” Schoen told The Epoch Times that he chose the poem—and the quote from President Abraham Lincoln that preceded it—because he views the days of Lincoln as the closest parallel to the current division in the United States.

“I think we’re in a very perilous, divided time. The election itself showed that, but I think all of the rhetoric shows it also,” Schoen said.

Schoen brought his children, aged 15 to 25, into the process of preparing his impeachment trial remarks. His daughter was the one to suggest using Longfellow’s poem.

“I wrote my remarks myself. I wanted to share them with the kids and I wanted their feedback. They were very helpful to me. One of my sons was with me at the impeachment trial,” Schoen said.

Schoen isn’t the only attorney facing repercussions for defending the president.

Attorney Michael van der Veen said vandals broke the windows in his home and defaced the house with graffiti. Van der Veen has had to move his children to a secret location and hire armed guards to protect his home and workplace.

Schoen said that he’s used to threats after decades of practicing civil rights law.

“When I lived in Alabama, I lived behind an electric fence with two German shepherds and I had to carry a gun every place I went. I faced many threats for different kinds of reasons, over the years. But if you let that stop you, I suppose you’re in the wrong business,” Schoen said.

Schoen received the Pro Bono Publico Award from the American Bar Association (ABA) in 1995 for his civil rights work. The ABA handbook says (pdf) he was “recognized for his enormous contribution to bringing about change in schools, prisons, jails, foster care, police departments, and election ballot access in the South.”

The Senate acquitted Trump of the charge that he incited the mob that breached the Capitol on Jan. 6. Schoen said he spoke to the president after the acquittal. He said the president was “very upbeat, very gratified.”

During the trial, Schoen spoke to Trump two or three times per day. He said the president was always “very gracious,” “very supportive,” and “very much appreciated the presentations I made.”

Days after the acquittal, a top House Democrat and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) sued Trump over the Capitol breach, accusing the president of planning a conspiracy to attack the Capitol. Schoen said the lawsuit is “political theater.”

“I don’t think there’s any merit to it. I think it’s an abuse of the statute that it’s based on. And I think it’s just going to lead to further divisiveness,” he said.

Lincoln Project Founder Paid Off Mortgage Days After NYT Reported on Weaver Scandal

Rick Wilson dogged by history of unpaid taxes prior to founding profitable Super PAC

Days after the New York Times reported on Lincoln Project cofounder John Weaver's history of inappropriate sexual behavior toward young men, his colleague Rick Wilson paid off a mortgage for his Florida home a full 16 years ahead of schedule.

Public records show that JPMorgan Chase Bank recently issued a certificate of satisfaction on Wilson's 30-year mortgage, which originated in 2007 for the amount of $200,000. The document confirms that the terms of the mortgage were satisfied on Feb. 5, less than a week after the Times printed its story on Weaver and almost three weeks after the allegations were first published online by the American Conservative and Forensic News.

Seven years earlier, Wilson was hit with a $389,420 tax lien against the same Florida residence. As scandal began to engulf the Lincoln Project, Wilson apparently sought to put his finances in order before donors started to abandon the generously funded super PAC, which fellow cofounder Steve Schmidt had reportedly viewed as a ticket to "generational wealth."

Wilson's decision to pay off his mortgage is already proving fortuitous. In the days since he closed out the $200,000 obligation, the Lincoln Project's donations page went inactive and the Daily Beast put Wilson's podcasting on hold pending a "comprehensive review" of the organization's "operations and culture." The review is being conducted by the law firm Paul Hastings despite the fact that several of its senior partners are Lincoln Project donors.

Wilson, who bought the 5-bedroom, 3.5-bathroom house near Lake Jackson in June 2004 for just under half-a-million dollars, has previously faced criticism for shady financial practices. In the early years of Donald Trump's presidency, for example, he launched a GoFundMe campaign that raised nearly $65,000 to produce a film that was never made. Wilson has yet to provide an explanation as to where the money went.

Wilson is not the only Lincoln Project cofounder who took steps to shore up his finances as the group raked in cash from wealthy liberal donors. Weaver, for example, finally paid off more than $300,000 in back taxes owed to the IRS in October 2020, two months after taking a medical leave of absence from the group.

Reports suggest that, by that time, many of the Lincoln Project's senior members were at least somewhat aware of Weaver's predatory behavior. Weaver is also subject to a pending financial dispute in Texas over $340,000 in past due rent payments following the closure of a children's boutique his family operated.

Schmidt, meanwhile, used the influx of cash in 2020 to purchase a $1.4 million home in Kamas, Utah. Until recently, he was trying to flip the 5-bedroom, 7-bathroom property with a "stunning" view of the Uinta Mountains for nearly $3 million. Schmidt took the house off the market after reporters started asking questions.

In the days since Wilson paid off his mortgage, the Lincoln Project has been utterly consumed by the Weaver scandal. Wilson and Reed Galen are now the only cofounders of the group who have yet to resign in some capacity. Schmidt announced his resignation from the board on Feb. 12, the birth date of Abraham Lincoln.

A growing number of former Lincoln Project employees and associates have since called for the organization to cease operations altogether. In response to a story published in the 19th News, which cited multiple sources who said senior Lincoln Project members knew of Weaver's predatory behavior as early as March 2020, former adviser Kurt Bardella tweeted: "Just shut it down already." Cofounder George Conway, who left the group in August, concurred.

Police investigating cocaine sex scandal allegations implicating Labor NT members

A Northern Territory Labor MP has made an impassioned speech to parliament in the wake of a police investigation into an alleged cocaine sex scandal.

Labor members have become impacted by in an investigation by Northern Territory specialist police officers into a cocaine sex scandal.

Detectives from the NT Police’s Special References Unit have been investigating the claims since the end of last year, according to NT News.

NT Police told news.com.au they would not be commenting on the report.

Overnight, member for Blain, Mark Turner, revealed he was one of the Labor members impacted by the allegations but strongly denied his involvement in any illegal activities.

In a late-night speech to parliament, Mr Turner said he had never planned to make a comment on the “untrue rumours and innuendo” but felt he had no other choice due to the recent actions of Opposition Leader Lia Finocchiaro.

On Wednesday, Ms Finocchiaro called on Chief Minister Michael Gunner to “show leadership” and commence a formal investigation into the allegations impacting members of the Territory Labor Party.

Mr Turner claimed Ms Finocchiaro used her “privileged position” to accelerate the allegations and “use them to impugn the character of my colleagues”.

“I will not allow that to continue any longer,” he said.

Mr Turner said any suggestion he participated in illegal activity is “categorically false” but did confirmed he had a “friendship” with the woman at the centre of the scandal.

“I do not recall the details of every conversation. During this friendship we exchanged general conversation, banter, jokes, and some intimate conversation,” he said.

“I do not condone illegal activity, and I do not participate in it. I accept that there were aspects of our friendship in the past that were not appropriate, because they were too intimate.

“It was not illegal. It was consensual. It was respectful. But not appropriate.”

Mr Turner, a married father-of-five, said he was “deeply embarrassed” by the situation.

Barcelona protests erupt in violence for second night in a row after Spanish rapper arrested for insulting king

Protesters in Barcelona set fires and blocked streets in the second night of furious demonstrations against the arrest of rapper Pablo Hasel, who was sentenced to jail for insulting Spain’s king and glorifying terrorism.

As night fell over Barcelona on Wednesday, crowds of protesters rolled makeshift barricades down the central Via Laietana, before setting them on fire. The sound of breaking glass could be heard in videos filmed by onlookers, along with the crack of police weapons in nearby streets.

Fires were also reported in Lleida, the city Hasel was arrested in on Tuesday.

The protests came a day after similar demonstrations over the arrest devolved into riots. Protesters chucked projectiles at police officers on Tuesday night, and the officers responded with rubber bullets. One protester lost an eye when she was struck with a rubber bullet, activist group IRIDIA claimed.

Hasel, whose real name is Pablo Rivadulla Duro, was arrested earlier on Tuesday after barricading himself inside the University of Lleida in western Catalonia. Less than two weeks earlier, he was sentenced to nine months in prison for calling disgraced former monarch Juan Carlos I a “thief” and a “mafia boss,” and for a social media post praising GRAPO, a Spanish Maoist terrorist group.

The rapper’s sentencing and arrest weren’t his first run-in with the law. In 2014, Hasel was found guilty of voicing his support for Basque separatist terrorist group ETA, but his sentence was suspended in 2019.

Hundreds of artists and activists, including director Pedro Almodóvar and actor Javier Bardem, have demanded the government release Hasel. The rapper’s lawyer told the Catalan News Agency on Wednesday that his jailed client is "satisfied” with the “wave of outrage” his imprisonment set off.

But EcoHealth Alliance, founded by Chinese Communist Party-linked Peter Daszak, is profiting off a pandemic it likely helped to create.

Ecohealth Alliance partnered with the Wuhan Institute of Virology, believed by many to be the source of COVID-19, using taxpayer funds on research to study animal-based coronaviruses.

A summary of the research reveals the discoveries “made in the lab unlocked a highly specific doorway into the human body” – the same doorway used by COVID-19. What’s more, a member of the recent World Health Organization (WHO) delegation to China, Daszak insisted it was “extremely unlikely” the virus was created in the Chinese lab.

I, like you, very much wish Rush was behind this golden microphone right now, welcoming you to another exceptional three hours of broadcasting. For over 32 years, Rush has cherished you, his loyal audience, and always looked forward to every single show.

It is with profound sadness I must share with you directly that our beloved Rush — my wonderful husband — passed away this morning due to complications from lung cancer. As so many of you know, losing a loved one is terribly difficult, even more so when that loved one is larger than life.

Rush will forever be the greatest of all time. Rush was an extraordinary man, a gentle giant — brilliant, quick witted, genuinely kind, extremely generous, passionate, courageous, and the hardest working person I know. Despite being one of the most recognized, powerful people in the world, Rush never let the success change his core or beliefs.

He was polite and respectful to everyone he met. Even most recently when he was not feeling well in the hospital, he was so appreciative to every single doctor and nurse and custodian and first responder. He never wanted to put anyone out, and always thanked them profusely for their help.

From today on, there will be a tremendous void in our lives — and, of course, on the radio. Rush loved our miraculous country beyond measure, an unwavering patriot, he loved our United States military, our flag, our Constitution, our Founding Fathers. He proudly fought and defended conservative values in a way that no one else can.

Rush often stood up and took arrows on his own because he knew it was the right thing to do. Rush encouraged so many of us to think for ourselves, to learn and to lead. He often said it did not matter where you started or what you look like. As Americans, we all have endless opportunities like nowhere else in the world.

Rush gave us hope that through hard work and determination, we can overcome the obstacles in our lives and be our best. Many of you started small businesses or pursued personal dreams because Rush gave you the faith that you could. He made the most complex issues simple to understand, while making that level of genius look easy. It most certainly was anything but easy. Irreplicable, remarkable talent.

On behalf of the Limbaugh family, I would like to personally thank each and every one of you that prayed for Rush and inspired him to keep going. You rallied around Rush and lifted him up when he needed you the most.

I am certain, without a shadow of a doubt, if he could be here today, he would be. He loved you and he loved this radio program with every part of his being. I've only been checking it over for perhaps less than an hour, but it seems to be the most sincere attempt to rationally critique some of the claims made by "our side" that I"ve seen.

It seems to be run by this guy Mick West, apparently a former video game programmer and now a full-time "debunker". He seems to be a pretty smart guy (very different from fake experts like Mike Rothschild), but if you read his posts closely, you can see some gaps in his thinking. For instance, in discussing the oft-repeated quote attributed to William Casey that "we'll know we've succeeded when everything they believe is false", Mr. West takes as evidence against its authenticity that it would be nearly logically impossible for that particular situation to ever be literally true… well, yes, and grasping that is a sign that West is fairly smart, but such logical insight counts very little (for me) as evidence against Casey actually saying that.

There are a number of mentions of "QAnon" and even a few QAnon themed threads, but I see no attempt to "debunk" QAnon directly (and in particular no attempt to debunk the claim that the Q op worked in tandem with the Trump White House).

Could be an interesting place to review or even participate…

In my somewhat cursory review of the site, I didn't see any personal attacks, and indeed in his "welcome message" Mick West quite specifically points out that such things are to be logically rejected.

This doesn't mean that I think he is "right", just that he SEEMS to be acting sincerely. I can well envision such a character type as I used to read "debunker" literature myself… I learned a lot from Martin Gardner, for instance.

In any case, I suspect the site would be less useful as a way to engage others than as a source of what could be some of the possibly best CRITICISMS from outsiders.

Then, you get into the psychology of a female, who now feels inadequate, because there are so many hot chicks on the interwebs, obviously everyday-betty is not going to compete with high quality photo-shops of supermodels and facades and the whole shabang. So, everyday-betty has to constantly feel bad about her appearance and actions and all the other drama stirred up by the savage world of the circus. So, yeah. Getting attention sometimes comes with that "willingness" to cross a few lines. Fucked up…

Then you get into the aspect of financial well-being. There are multiple factors here. First, because "muh women's rights", many of these girls/young females are basically forced start working well before the age of 18. Pretty much any job a teenager will be employed at does not pay jack shit to do much of anything in life. We all know this, but whatever. This is supposed to be "incentive" to go to college, which the jobs that are available clearly make such "education" very hard to afford. So, thanks to "muh women's rights", not only are these young females basically forced to wage-slave for the beast, but if they want out of that arrangement then they either have to jump immediately into debt, or start looking for a guy who has enough money to play sugar daddy. "Luckily", that young female has been "groomed" from such a young age to imagine that prince charming will come to the rescue.

Only in reality, all the guys who would typically be well suitors for the otherwise beautiful girl, had we not exposed each and every last dude-bro to idolized their supermodels. Now, creating unreasonable standards for both counterparts to hold one another to in life, there still is the issue about how of how "muh women's rights" pretty much required magic jobs to appear out of thin air. So, all of these otherwise fine young dude-bros typically aren't going to have any money unless they become drug dealers or pimps. Both are fairly well-paying jobs, and considering the alternative is go into several tens of thousands of dollars worth of debt just to wage-slave years to try and pay that debt off. So, whoever said "crime doesn't pay" never had to wage-slave for years just to go into debt to wage-slave for moar, with pretty much no chance of getting any action along the way. Especially since most young men cannot wage slave enough to actually afford a beautiful female counterpart of a similar age

This is where shit gets even moar fucked up. Because now you have grown-up dude-bros with plenty of money (many with families, too), who can very easily afford the sugar daddy role.
