Multinational-Operation Leads to Arrests of Venezuelan, Brazilian Migrants near California Border

 

San Diego Sector Border Patrol agents and Mexican officials teamed up to disrupt a transnational smuggling operation. The investigation led to the arrest of smugglers and migrants on both sides of the California-Mexico border.

 

Between October 28 and November 9, Border Patrol agents apprehended five groups of migrants who illegally crossed the border from Mexico. Russian ransomware hackers have released what they allege are hundreds more sensitive NRA documents.

 

Internal financial reports and the personal information of NRA staff were among the documents posted on Wednesday. The release is the fourth batch of records published in an apparent attempt to extort the NRA into paying a ransom. The personal information of dozens of current and former staff, including bank account and social security numbers, was exposed in the latest release.

 

Those affected by the leaks include top leadership and low-level seasonal employees. The documents appear to cover many of the staff the NRA has hired or rehired over the past year. That’s all in addition to the personal information of dozens of staffers, which was released by the hackers earlier this month.

Pentagon announces new cloud initiative to replace ill-fated JEDI contract

 

The Pentagon announced a limited request for bids for a new cloud initiative today that replaces the cancelled $10 billion, decade-long JEDI contract initiative. You may recall (or not) that it previously ran a winner-take-all bid it had dubbed JEDI (short for Joint Enterprise Defense Infrastructure). The new initiative goes by the much less catchy name, Joint Warfighting Cloud Capability, or JWCC for short.

 

Under the terms of the RFP, Amazon, Microsoft, Google and Oracle have been invited to bid. That multi-vendor approach is markedly different from the JEDI RFP, where just a single vendor was going to walk away with the prize. In fact, the Pentagon makes clear that while it favors Amazon and Microsoft, any of the qualified (invited) vendors could get a piece of this deal.

 

As the RFP states, β€œThe Government anticipates awarding two IDIQ contracts β€” one to Amazon Web Services, Inc. (AWS) and one to Microsoft Corporation (Microsoft) β€” but intends to award to all Cloud Service Providers (CSPs) that demonstrate the capability to meet DoD’s requirements.”

 

It appears it limited the number of vendors involved because after researching its requirements, the Pentagon found that there were a limited number of companies out there capable of meeting them. β€œMarket research indicates that a limited number of sources are capable of meeting the Department’s requirements. Currently, the Department is aware of only five U.S.-based hyperscale CSPs (cloud service providers). Furthermore, only two of those hyperscale CSPs β€” AWS and Microsoft β€” appear to be capable of meeting all of the DoD’s requirements at this time, including providing cloud services at all levels of national security classification.”

 

The government is still working out the pricing for this one, but with multiple vendors involved, it’s entirely possible that it will exceed the $10 billion price tag of the now-defunct JEDI contract. β€œThe Department is still evaluating the contract ceiling for this procurement, but anticipates that a multi-billion dollar ceiling will be required. The contract ordering ceiling will be included in any directed solicitations issued to vendors.”

 

It’s worth noting that each company that wins an award under the terms of the RFP will get a three-year contract for its piece, with two one-year option periods.

 

JEDI was mired in controversy from the start as top cloud vendors jockeyed for position, and lesser ones also tried to get into the act. There was much drama, complaints to the president, complaints from the president, complaints about presidential interference, formal inquiries galore and several lawsuits. In the end, in spite of everyone believing that Amazon would win the bid, it didn’t. Microsoft did.

The CBC Edmonton was caught red-handed last month using a mannequin in a hospital bed as background footage for a story on how an ICU has been operating during the pandemic.

 

Even better, the mannequin, shown below in what looks like a hospital bed, wasn't even filmed inside of an ICU, according to the National Post, who republished a spin of the even from the "Reuters Fact Check Team" later in October.

 

The CBC report was initially released on October 2 and included "interviews and a demonstration featuring a mannequin of how an ICU facility differs from other hospital wards," the National Post report said.

'If anyone picked up cash, we ask you to bring it to the office in Vista immediately,' a CHP spokesperson told Fox 5. 'I just want to give everyone a head's up that there is a lot of video evidence.'

 

They are giving people 48 hours to return the money or face 'potential criminal charges.' Two people have already been arrested, officials said.

 

Drivers stopped what they were doing Monday and scrambled to pick up 'free' money on the northbound side of Interstate 5 near Carlsbad, California.

 

The trunk was on its way to the Federal Reserve to make the deposit when the back doors burst open around 10 a.m., authorities said.

 

The FBI and the California Highway Patrol (CHP) are now looking for people who took the money, after already arresting two people who got locked out of their car during the frenzy. It is unknown how much money came out of the trunk, nor how much is still missing.

 

Fitness guru Demi Bagby, from San Diego, was identified as one of the persons of interest after she posted a video to her Instagram account showing her and her friends picking up money.

 

'This is the most insane thing I've ever seen, someone dropped money all over the freeway and San Diego has shut down, literally it has shut down. Look at the freeway right now, oh my gosh,' Bagby says in a video she posted for her 2.5 million followers.

US Marshals arrest convicted Arizona serial child predator after being on the run

 

PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) – A convicted child predator is back in custody after U.S. Marshals say he failed to appear for sentencing of multiple child sex abuse charges.

 

In a news release, the U.S. Marshals Service says 56-year-old Gordon Goulding was arrested on Friday. Authorities say Goulding was originally facing 43 counts of various charges including sexual abuse of a minor, sexual conduct with a minor, and voyeurism.

 

Federal agents say he failed to appear for sentencing at Maricopa County Superior Court on Sept. 14 and a warrant was issued for his arrest. Prosecutors say Goulding was facing more than 20 years in prison when he cut his ankle monitor and ran off. The U.S. Marshals Service was able to locate him in Lake Tahoe, where he was using an "altered" Arizona ID to hide his identity.

 

Authorities say he was arrested on Friday after being directed toward a home in South Lake Tahoe, California. Goulding was seen riding a bike to his house and was taken into custody. He is currently in the El Dorado County Jail in South Lake Tahoe where he is awaiting extradition to Phoenix.

Kenosha County Eye has reported that Kenosha District Attorney Michael Graveley and Black Lives Matter activist Whitney Cabal exchanged numerous text messages over approximately six weeks from mid-August to late September.

Kenosha was the Wisconsin city where violent, destructive rioting occurred and where Kyle Rittenhouse shot and killed two rioters in apparent self-defense back in late August.

Thirty-seven pages of text messages between Graveley and Cabal were leaked to Kenosha County Eye back in mid-October. Many of them appear to show District Attorney Graveley keeping Cabal in the loop on the Wisconsin DOJ’s investigation into the Jacob Blake shooting, which is trying to implicate Rittenhouse in first-degree homicide.

As for District Attorney Graveley, he tried to explain the text messages to Kenosha County Eye in what they described as an β€œintimidating email”:

Graveley called the source β€œslimy” and β€œcowardly” for sharing his text messages with Kenosha County Eye.

Graveley (D) insists the reason for his weeks of texting with Cabal is he was having a β€œdialogue with all parties”. Some in the community don’t think he should be putting much weight into what she has to say after she openly condoned the rioting and looting that occurred in Kenosha due to the Kenosha Police shooting Jacob Blake.

Graveley has come under fire in his tenure from the left and the right. DA Graveley’s department has sided with law enforcement with many high-profile fatal shootings, such as Michael Bell and Aaron Siler. Many are expecting the same with KPD Officer Rusten Shesky.

Here’s hoping that despite all this, Kyle Rittenhouse will receive a fair trial and a fair outcome in the end. Actual justice must be served, not the false perversion of justice that BLM agitators are seeking.
