The budget reconciliation package pushed by Democrats creates a new expanded child tax credit (CTC) that would pay illegal immigrants some $10.5 billion next year. All immigrants with children are eligible, regardless of how they got here and whether their children are U.S.-born. This includes the roughly 600,000 unaccompanied minors and persons in family units stopped at the border in FY2021 and released into the country pending a hearing. Cash welfare to illegal immigrants is not just costly; it also encourages more illegal immigration.

Although it is referred to as a “refundable credit,” the new CTC, like the old additional child tax credit (ACTC) it replaces, pays cash to low-income families who do not pay any federal income tax. The new program significantly increases the maximum cash payment from $1,400 per child to $3,600 for children under 6, and to $3,000 for children ages 6 to 17. After 2022, the maximum payment would be $2,000 per child, but advocates hope the much larger payments will be extended.

The subpoena — issued by the Senate Committee on Elections, Election Process Reform and Ethics and signed by Senate Majority Leader Devin LeMahieu, Senate President Chris Kapenga and committee chair Senator Kathleen Bernier — calls for the city to turn over all physical absentee ballot certificates for the November 2020 General Election and the results of tests on electronic voting machines used for the election.

According to LAB’s report, Madison City Clerk Maribeth Witzel-Behl was the only clerk to decline to let the LAB physically handle absentee ballot certificates, citing chain-of-custody concerns.

‘Having to sign the third subpoena in the history of the Senate is not something I take lightly. It’s unfortunate and concerning that a few people running elections think they are more important than the electorate,’ Kapenga said. ‘I sign this with the full effect of the law behind it. We are not playing games, and there will be consequences if they don’t comply.’

Senate Republicans’ election investigation is being run simultaneously with a separate investigation led by former Supreme Court Justice Mike Gableman. Earlier this fall, Gableman sent subpoenas to the Wisconsin Elections Commission and the state’s five largest cities asking for election materials and interviews with election officials. A judge has set a hearing on whether or not to block that subpoena.”

Judicial Watch announced today that it sent letters (https://www.judicialwatch.org/documents/tags/november-2021-nvra-letters/) to election officials in 14 counties and five states — Arkansas, California, Illinois, New York, and Oregon — notifying them of evident violations of the National Voter Registration Act (https://www.justice.gov/crt/national-voter-registration-act-1993-nvra) of 1993 (NVRA). The letters detail how these states’ own reported data show that their counties removed an “absurdly low” or “impossible” number of inactive voter registrations under key provisions of the NVRA. The letters threaten federal lawsuits unless the violations are corrected in a timely fashion.

Robert Popper, Judicial Watch senior attorney and director of its voting integrity efforts, observed that “About 10% of Americans move every year. Those counties should generate hundreds of thousands of cancelled registrations. There is simply no way to comply with federal law while removing so few outdated registrations under its key provision.” Popper emphasized that these numbers come directly from state reports to the EAC. Popper was formerly Deputy Chief of the Voting Section of the Civil Rights Division of the Justice Department.

“These letters are just the beginning of another sweep, in federal court if necessary, to clean voter rolls throughout the country,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton.

Special Counsel Mike Gableman has released an interim report on his investigation into the 2020 election in Wisconsin. He identifies several important areas of focus:

1) The potential for private money from groups like Zuckerberg’s CTCL to subvert our elections

“Evidence is already in this Office’s possession indicates undue influence by well-funded private groups, who leveraged large grants to certain Wisconsin cities in order to co-opt our election apparatus to their benefit… Indeed, contracts made between outside groups and certain municipalities led directly to actions contrary to Wisconsin state law, which some clerks noted harmed both election security and the physical safety of voters. Whatever the results, various clerks have already suggested they themselves do not know precisely how the voting machines work and rely entirely upon private contractors to assure them of system integrity…

A second issue related to the transparency of our election system in the state is the public availability of voter data… There is already evidence that security surrounding the WisVote (SVRS) system is lax. This statewide system enables clerks to track absentee ballot requests and includes highly sensitive personal information. As such, it is supposed to be subject to a high level of security laid out in WEC guidance. Nevertheless, there is already some evidence of unauthorized access to this database.”

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has announced he is seeking a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction in an effort to stop the Biden administration’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate for federal contractors.

"The President’s blatant disdain for those who choose to not receive a vaccine will not be allowed to seep into the great State of Texas," Paxton said Monday in a statement posted on his website. "Here, we protect individual liberties first and foremost, and Texans do not have to sacrifice their beliefs and their health to preserve their livelihoods."

According to court papers, Paxton also said that President Joe Biden has weaponized the "administrative state against these federal contractors in an unprecedented overreach."

Biden in September issued an executive order mandating employees of federal contractors be vaccinated, Newsweek reported.

At least 20 states have filed lawsuits asking a federal judge to block the requirement, arguing it violates federal procurement law and is an overreach of federal power.

Fox News noted the contractor vaccine requirement has faced court challenges from states claiming the wording in the mandate is vague.

In court papers, Paxton argued the mandate will force those who work for federal contractors "to choose between their fundamental constitutional rights and their livelihoods."

"This sweeping mandate is part of the president’s unconstitutional efforts to revitalize his ‘flagging vaccination campaign’ at the cost of individual liberty. President Biden’s vaccine campaign is intended to affect almost every aspect of society and his weaponization of the administrative state against federal contractors is an unprecedented overreach.

"The state of Texas respectfully requests that the Court enjoin Defendants from implementing and enforcing the Contractor Mandate."

The Justice Department did not immediately respond to a request from Fox News for a comment.

Newsweek noted Paxton also filed suit on Monday challenging the administration’s vaccine mandate for health-care workers arguing that the mandate "threatens to exacerbate an alarming shortage of health-care workers."

In a Monday tweet, Paxton said: "At a time when we need healthcare workers more than ever before, amid a harrowing worker shortage, the Biden Administration has prioritized this unlawful vaccine mandate over the healthcare of all Americans. Once again Biden, I'll see you in court!"

Jury Deliberates On Verdict In Rittenhouse Case

The fate of Kyle Rittenhouse lies in the hands of jurors as both sides have rested their case. The jury of 12 were selected Tuesday and are set to deliberate the case. This comes after the judge dismissed a misdemeanor weapons charge against the 18-year-old on Monday.

Prosecutors then delivered a message to the jury, claiming Rittenhouse provoked the shooting last year. Defense attorneys countered by detailing how Rittenhouse was attacked and acted in self-defense during violent Black Lives Matter riots.

“Kyle shot Joseph Rosenbaum to stop a threat to his person and I’m glad he shot him because if Joseph Rosenbaum had got that gun, I don’t for a minute believe he wouldn’t have used it against somebody else,” stated Defense attorney Mark Richards. “He was irrational and crazy.”

Rittenhouse has maintained that he did nothing wrong and acted in self-defense. During his earlier testimony, the 18-year-old outlined the events of August 24 and 25. He explained what he was doing in Kenosha, Wisconsin on those days and the events leading up to him using a weapon.

Rittenhouse first took questions from his own counsel. He recalled hearing a gunshot fired behind him, being chased by what he described as a mob, but then broke down when attempting to explain the events leading to him firing his first shot.

The prosecution was given a chance to ask Rittenhouse their questions, but on several occasions stepped out of line. This forced the judge to send the jury out of the room.

Judge Bruce Schroeder was shocked at the state’s attempts to reintroduce evidence originally rejected by the court and that prosecutor Thomas Binger questioned Rittenhouse’s decision to remain silent after the shooting.

“I was astonished when you began your examination by commenting on the defendant’s post arrest silence,” stated the Judge. “That’s basic law, it’s been the basic law in this country for forty years, fifty years. I have no idea why you would do something like that. Well, I’ll leave it at that. So I don’t know what you’re up to.”

Defense attorneys outlined their case for self-defense during opening arguments in the trial with both sides delivering remarks to the 11 women and nine men who will decide the teen’s fate.

Rittenhouse has been accused of killing two people and wounding a third during the August 2020 riots. Experts say under Wisconsin law, Rittenhouse has a strong self-defense case and prosecutors will have to convince the jury he forfeited that claim after showing up with a weapon.

Prosecutors argue Rittenhouse was the aggressor during last year’s incident and had no justification for the shooting. However, defense lawyers say Rittenhouse was attacked by a mob and did what he could to survive.

During jury selection, the judge warned jurors of “irresponsible and deliberately biased” media coverage surrounding the case. The judge noted their decision can not be influenced by politics.

Ahead of the verdict, authorities in Kenosha are preparing for possible unrest with around 500 National Guardsmen deployed just outside the city. Gov. Tony Evers (D) announced the troops would support local law enforcement if needed. Evers urged those choosing to assemble to do so safely and peacefully.

Pfizer asks US officials to OK promising COVID-19 pill

WASHINGTON (AP) — Pfizer asked U.S. regulators Tuesday to authorize its experimental pill for COVID-19, setting the stage for a likely launch this winter of a promising treatment that can be taken at home.

The company’s filing comes as new infections are rising once again in the United States, driven mainly by hot spots in states where colder weather is driving more Americans indoors.

Pfizer’s pill has been shown to significantly cut the rate of hospitalizations and deaths among people with coronavirus infections. The Food and Drug Administration is already reviewing a competing pill from Merck and several smaller drugmakers are also expected to seek authorization for their own antiviral pills in the coming months.

“We are moving as quickly as possible in our effort to get this potential treatment into the hands of patients, and we look forward to working with the U.S. FDA on its review of our application,” said Pfizer’s CEO Albert Bourla, in a statement.

Specifically, Pfizer wants the drug available for adults who have mild-to-moderate COVID-19 infections and are at risk of becoming seriously ill. That’s similar to how other drugs are currently used to treat the disease. But all FDA-authorized COVID-19 treatments require an IV or injection given by a health professional at a hospital or clinic.

The FDA is holding a public meeting on the Merck pill later this month to get the opinion of outside experts before making its decision. The agency isn’t required to convene such meetings and it’s not yet known whether Pfizer’s drug will undergo a similar public review.
