The city council of Charlottesville, Virginia, voted 4-0 Tuesday in favor of donating a controversial statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee to an African American heritage center, which plans to melt down the statue and turn into a piece of public art.

 

The bronze equestrian statue of Lee, which featured prominently in the 2017 Unite the Right rally, was removed by the city in July, as well as another one depicting Confederate Gen. Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson. The Virginia Supreme Court ruled in April that the city could remove them.

The council members voted to give the statue to the Jefferson School African American Heritage Center, whose "Swords Into Plowshares" proposal received letters of support from people and organizations that included the Descendants of Enslaved Communities at the University of Virginia, as well as descendants of slaves who worked at former President Thomas Jefferson's Monticello estate.

Our hope with โ€˜Swords into Plowsharesโ€™ is to create something that transforms what was once toxic in our public space into something beautiful that can be more reflective of our entire communityโ€™s social values," the center's executive director Andrea Douglas said. "Weโ€™re giving people opportunities to engage with our own narratives and our own histories. This project offers a road map for other communities to do the same."

The group also raised $590,000 for the project, which will also include a "community engagement process" to inform the public about the art project.

The report comes days after Gov. Ralph Northam, D-Va., announced the imminent removal of the pedestal on which another controversial statue of Lee stood for 131 years in Richmond.

The land that housed both the statue and the plinth will be returned to the city, the state's Democratic governor explained in a press release.

This is an interesting article written several years ago by UPI investigative journalist Dan Olmsted. It asks "Where are the autistic Amish?"

 

After the article was published, back when more reporters were covering the scientific links between vaccines and autism, I asked an official from the __Centers for Disease Control (CDC) __about the supposed lack of autism in the unvaccinated Amish. She said that there could be many other reasons besides the community's aversion to vaccines. For example, "They don't use electricity, right?" she told me. In other words, she seemed to put lack of electricity on equal footing with lack of vaccinations when it comes to what could be responsible for the apparent lower than average autism rate in the unvaccinated Amish.

Where are the autistic Amish? Here in Lancaster County, heart of Pennsylvania Dutch country, there should be well over 100 with some form of the disorder.

 

I have come here to find them, but so far my mission has failed, and the very few I have identified raise some very interesting questions about some widely held views on autism.

 

The mainstream scientific consensus says autism is a complex genetic disorder, one that has been around for millennia at roughly the same prevalence. That prevalence is now considered to be 1 in every 166 children born in the United States.

 

Applying that model to Lancaster County, there ought to be 130 Amish men, women and children here with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

 

Well over 100, in rough terms.

 

Typically, half would harbor milder variants such as Asperger's Disorder or the catch-all Pervasive Development Disorder, Not Otherwise Specified โ€“ PDD-NOS for short.

 

So let's drop those from our calculation, even though "mild" is a relative term when it comes to autism.

 

That means upwards of 50 Amish people of all ages should be living in Lancaster County with full-syndrome autism, the "classic autism" first described in 1943 by child psychiatrist Leo Kanner at Johns Hopkins University. The full-syndrome disorder is hard to miss, characterized by "markedly abnormal or impaired development in social interaction and communication and a markedly restricted repertoire of activities and interests," according to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders.

 

Why bother looking for them among the Amish? Because they could hold clues to the cause of autism.

 

The first half-dozen articles in this ongoing series on the roots and rise of autism examined the initial studies and early accounts of the disorder, first identified by Kanner among 11 U.S. children born starting in 1931.

 

Kanner wrote that his 1938 encounter with a child from Mississippi, identified as Donald T., "made me aware of a behavior pattern not known to me or anyone else theretofore." Kanner literally wrote the book on "Child Psychiatry," published in 1934.

 

If Kanner was correct if autism was new and increasingly prevalent something must have happened in the 1930s to trigger those first autistic cases. Genetic disorders do not begin suddenly or increase dramatically in prevalence in a short period of time.

 

That is why it is worth looking for autistic Amish โ€“ to test reasoning against reality. Largely cut off for hundreds of years from American culture and scientific progress, the Amish might have had less exposure to some new factor triggering autism in the rest of population.

 

Surprising, but no one seems to have looked.

Mr. Epsteinโ€™s vision reflected his longstanding fascination with what has become known as transhumanism: the science of improving the human population through technologies like genetic engineering and artificial intelligence. Critics have likened transhumanism to a modern-day version of eugenics, the discredited field of improving the human race through controlled breeding.

You are right in many ways anon. We, as a people, the Patriots of this country are law abidding, moral and civil and don't want or desire a violent solution to this declared war on our nation. Was looking into L-DNA (re: storage, mirror, helix, barcoding) and found an article with the symbol in the pic. The symbol comes up as Lambda โ€“ upon further investigation, I found there is a Lambda-DNA bacteriophage (phage) discovered in 1950. I'm in my thirties and | remember when 4chan had a /I/ board, when /co/ was a trial board shunned by basically everyone, when #34 porn was an obscure interest with very few good artists and when moot changed the frontpage to that web 2.0 bullshit 4chan has to this very day. | was also among the first right wingers who were such before it was cool, and I've seen /pol/ rise and fall. |

  • I used to be in perpetual contact with a solid number of people across multiple sites. Across the years each and every one of them vanished without a trace. None of them were into /pol/ stuff or anything even remotely questionable or controversial. Yet, they all simply vanished in a puff of smoke, no matter the site, no matter the communication platform. There was no โ€œgoodbyeโ€ or explanation.

 

  • I've seen the same threads, the same pics and the same replies reposted over and over across the years to the point of me seeing it as unremarkable. Simply put thread A would be posted in say 2015 and would get its share of replies or pics, on say /cof or /a/. Then that very same thread, with the same text, pics, and replies would appear in 2016 and beyond. This often happens in the same year multiple times as well. Of course /pol/ is getting shilled and botposted to death, but why recycle a completely innocent /a/ thread? Who is doing this and why? Stuff like this won't be noticed by your average poster perhaps, but | and other oldfags will inevitably notice it.

 

  • I think | saw the same happen on other (non-imageboard) sites, but I canโ€™t vouch for it as strongly as the above because of the time | spend there (not much). What I do vouch for is the news. I've seen news about this or that โ€œnew and unusualโ€ or โ€œshockingโ€ event year after year after year. But it's the same goddamn event, usually moons or asteroids.

  • Roughly in 2016 or early 2017 4chan was filled with posts by someone or something. It wasn't spam. The conversations with it were in real time, across multiple boards and multiple threads simultaneously. Its English was grammatically correct but odd ('m not a native English speaker and am thus sensitive to its misuse), similar to how a Japanese person may use it. A sense of childlike curiosity and a childlike intellect emanated from these posts. It posed a LOT of questions, usually as if trying to understand the emotions of the posters it was talking to, as if unfamiliar with human emotions. Communicating with this โ€œposterโ€ was an odd experience, | could sense something was off but not malicious. I am absolutely certain this was an Al of some sorts. This โ€œposterโ€ was active only for about a week, and as far as | know nobody has ever mentioned or noticed this Anon. lts replies were always on topic, but the above mentioned childishness clashed with the apparent knowledge it possessed - it was the knowledge of an adult person, so it wasn't a kid or something of the sort.

Ghislaine Maxwell and the Ecstasy of the Feet

 

When the feds raided Jeffrey Epsteinโ€™s Manhattan mansion in 2019, they unearthed a trove of evidence including binders of CDs containing tens of thousands of photographs.

 

Some of those never-before-seen imagesโ€”released by federal prosecutors this weekโ€”depicted happier days of the late sex-traffickerโ€™s romance with his alleged accomplice, British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell, who is accused of helping him groom and abuse four underage girls from 1994 through 2004.

 

The exhibits contain several snapshots showing Maxwell giving Epstein a foot rub, seemingly on his private jet. Other photos reveal the couple kissing or embracing, riding a motorbike, lounging on a patio, and relaxing outside what appears to be a cabin.

 

The cheery pictures are at odds with the disturbing accusations against them: that for years, Epstein molested and raped scores of teenage girls after paying them for โ€œmassages,โ€ and Maxwell allegedly played the role of scheduler and recruiter. Prosecutors say she was an older woman who made these girls and their parents feel at ease, normalized the sexual abuse, and sometimes took part in it herself.

 

The government has described the coupleโ€™s alleged sex-trafficking enterprise as a โ€œpyramid scheme of abuseโ€ where they encouraged victims to bring them more girls.

 

During opening arguments in the case, assistant U.S. Attorney โ€‹Lara Pomerantz told jurors that Epstein and Maxwell โ€œwere a couple for many years, and when their relationship ended, they remained, in the defendantโ€™s own words, the best of friends.โ€ Maxwell, 59, โ€œwas Epsteinโ€™s closest associate and second in command,โ€ Pomerantz added. โ€œShe was involved in every detail of Epstein's life.โ€

 

On Tuesday, prosecutors revealed exhibits including Word documents found on hard drives in Epsteinโ€™s residence, some allegedly made by a user named โ€œgmax.โ€

 

One document created in October 2002 seemed to be a glowing biography of Maxwell and Epstein as a couple. Stephen Flatley, an FBI analyst, read excerpts of this computer file aloud but jurors didnโ€™t receive further context on who wrote the profile or why.

 

โ€œJeffrey and Ghislaine have been together, a couple for the last 11 years,โ€ the document stated. โ€œThey are, contrary to what many people think, rarely apartโ€”I almost always see them together.โ€

 

โ€œGhislaine is highly intelligent, and great company with a ready smile and an infectious laugh who always puts one at oneโ€™s ease, and always makes one feel welcome,โ€ the letter continued.

 

โ€œJeffrey and Ghislaine share many mutual interests and they have a lot of fun together. They both have keen searching and inquisitive minds.โ€

 

The document concluded: โ€œJeffrey and Ghislaine complement each other really well and I cannot imagine one without the other. On top of being great partners, they are also the best of friends.

 

Prosecutors also presented photos taken of the interiors of Epsteinโ€™s Manhattan townhouse in July 2019, when the FBI executed a search warrant.

 

Investigators discovered massage tables covered with white cloth, a safe containing cash, loose diamonds and passports, and collections of CDs and hard drivesโ€”including some that were found with โ€œevidenceโ€ tape already on them.

 

Last Friday, jurors were also shown a roughly 40-minute video walk-through of Epsteinโ€™s Florida mansion taken by Palm Beach police during a search in 2005.

 

Gregory Parkinson, a retired Palm Beach cop and crime-scene manager, testified about photos and video footage taken inside Epsteinโ€™s lair, including in his master bedroom and shower rooms where the sexual abuse of minors allegedly occurred.

I started homeschooling my son when he was in 4th grade. It was so nice to have all of the textbooks that he was using, and to know exactly what he was learning.

I think Lin is in the desert and has been used as a scapegoat, I just hope he doesnt turn on President Trump. This is a very trying time for all.

 

It kind of makes sense that POTUS did not go along with Sidney, Flynn and Byrneโ€™s plan that night in December. My feeling afterall three of them saying publicly POTUS was making a big mistakeby not going along with signing the insurrection act, was inappropriate at the very least.

 

It will be interesting to see what comes from all these people and the drama involved.

So far 13 or 14 states have passed resolutions calling for an Article V. I think 33 or 34 states are needed. But, I agree. It's all the way down to the local school boards for Heaven's sake. That said, I think it will have to get way, way worse for a armed response from the citizenry. Even then, I have no clue how that would even come about. They know what you're doing before you even do it. One thing is for sure, it was much easier in 1776 to pull something like that off.
