In my town, it’s true. Lots of suspicious deaths of relatively youngish people (40s and 50s). Would be poor taste to call and ask hey, did they get the shot?, so I just assume. I know of 2 confirmed deaths, one relative, 49 and a friend had a miscarriage.

TPD nabs Secretary of State on a DUI post Bonnaroo

The Tennessee Secretary of State Gus "Tre" Hargett was booked into Coffee County Jail at about 1;30 a.m., Saturday for DUI after leaving Bonnaroo.

 

Hargett's office released a statement that early Saturday:

 

On Friday night after leaving the Bonnaroo Music Festival, I was stopped by the Tullahoma Police Department and subsequently arrested for DUI. Driving Under the Influence is a serious matter, and I regret the circumstances that led to my arrest. I respect law enforcement and will trust the legal process as we move forward

 

Hargett posted $2,000 bond Saturday morning and was released from the Coffee County Jail. A court date is set for July 14.

US court supports Arkansas anti-BDS law

 

In a major victory for pro-"Israel" activists, a US federal appeals court supported an Arkansas state law that requires public contractors to vow not to boycott "Israel." The latest ruling, which was initiated by the US Court of Appeals, overturns an earlier ruling that the legislation violated the First Amendment.

 

Israeli lobbies have influenced some 30 US states to adopt laws against BDS - or, the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions movement, which is a peaceful initiative that condemns Israeli aggression and occupational violence in Palestine through economic, academic, and cultural boycotts.

 

In 2017, Arkansas made it compulsory that all public agencies not do business with contractors unless they sign on a pledge that they will not boycott "Israel".

 

In 2018, The Arkansas Times, a small newspaper, challenged in 2018 the legislation when a state college refused to continue advertising with the paper until it signed an anti-boycott agreement. The law forces contractors to reduce their fees by 20% if they don't sign the pledge.

 

Alan Leveritt, The Arkansas Times' publisher, said in a statement that while the decision was expected, the newspaper would not take a "political position in return for advertising".

 

"We are obviously disappointed and note that these laws, which were originally passed in over 30 states, have been overturned in every court except this one," Leveritt said.

 

"We consider being banned from doing business with our state government for refusing to sign a pledge not to boycott Israel a ridiculous government overreach that has nothing to do with Arkansas."

 

According to a staff attorney for the American Civil Liberties Union, Brian Hauss, the judge's opinion was simply wrong, and there are intentions to appeal the case at the Supreme Court.

 

"It ignores the fact that this country was founded on a boycott of British goods and that boycotts have been a fundamental part of American political discourse ever since," Hauss said of the decision.

 

"We hope and expect that the Supreme Court will set things right and reaffirm the nation’s historic commitment to providing robust protection to political boycotts."

 

Pro-Palestine and free speech groups have condemned the anti-BDS bills which have been on the rise in recent times, accusing the supporters of the legislation that they are breaching free speech and stifling criticism against "Israel".

 

Texas, Georgia, Virginia

 

US states have been in a debacle with citizens and civil liberty groups over matters regarding boycotting "Israel" - in 2017, Texas passed a law that requires public employees and companies to sign a contract that they will not engage in any boycott of "Israel" or else they will face consequences.

 

However, with multiple lawsuits, Texas federal courts ruled that such a contract is unconstitutional.

 

That case is causing a ripple effect: Georgia and Virginia, according to the Electronic Intifada, are trying to crush citizens' rights to boycott "Israel" - but the people are fighting back.

US sues Walmart for allowing fraudulent money transfers that scammed customers

 

June 28, 2022

 

US regulators filed a lawsuit Tuesday against retail giant Walmart for allowing fraudulent money transfers that scammed customers out of hundreds of millions of dollars.

 

The global chain offers transfer services in its stores such as Western Union and MoneyGram as well as several in-house options.

 

In its lawsuit, the Federal Trade Commission alleged that “for years, the company turned a blind eye while scammers took advantage of its failure to secure the money transfer services offered at Walmart stores,” the agency said in a press release.

 

“The FTC is asking the court to order Walmart to return money to consumers and to impose civil penalties for Walmart’s violations,” the agency said in a statement.

 

The FTC accused the mega-retail chain of allowing suspicious transfers, not having an anti-fraud policy and permitting large cash withdrawals.

 

In addition, Walmart did not provide adequate material to educate consumers against fraud or offer specific staff training, the statement said.

 

“While scammers used its money transfer services to make off with cash, Walmart looked the other way and pocketed millions in fees,” said Samuel Levine, head of the FTC’s Bureau of Consumer Protection.

 

The FTC noted it has brought multiple cases against other money transfer services in the past years, including MoneyGram and Western Union, for failing to protect customers.

 

Walmart slammed the lawsuit as “factually flawed” and “legally baseless” in a statement.

 

The FTC “seeks to blame Walmart for fraud that the agency already attributed to another company,” the retailer said.

 

Walmart said in the statement it will continue to defend its “robust anti-fraud efforts.”

Patel’s decision to extradite Julian has sent shockwaves across the journalism community. The home secretary flouted calls from representatives of the Council of Europe, the OSCE, almost 2000 journalists and 300 doctors for the extradition to be halted.

The calls only last 10 minutes, so when the call ended abruptly the other night Max, who is three, asked tearfully if it was because he’d been naughty, I absentmindedly said it wasn’t his fault, but Mike Pompeo’s. They had discussed abducting and poisoning Julian.

The operations targeting his lawyers read like they are taken from a Soviet playbook.

FEMA warning: 10 Years WITHOUT ELECTRICITY After Major Solar Storm

June 10, 2022

 

A perfect solar storm similar to one that slammed into Earth in 1859 would knock out the United States electric grid for four to 10 years if it hit today, an unpublished report from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) indicates.

 

The 36-page report was posted this month, which uncovers old government documents that often are acquired via Freedom of Information Act requests. The 2010 document was titled, “Mitigation strategies for FEMA command, control, and communications during and after a solar superstorm.”

 

The storm that hit Earth in 1859 was dubbed the Carrington Event and caught telegraph machines – the most advanced technology of the day – on fire.

 

Predicting what would happen if that type of solar crashed into Earth in the 21st century, the document says: “Significant power grid collapses may occur in North America and elsewhere; could require 4-10 years to fully restore.”

 

But even a smaller storm, like the one that hit Earth in 1921, would “could cause large-scale power grid collapse” if it hit today.

 

The report predicts that Internet, cable TV and telephone service would shut down. Cell phone service also would quickly be lost.

 

“Approximately 60% of the cellular towers in the U.S. have battery backup only for 2-24 hours,” the report states. “As these towers lose power, large portions of the cellular network will begin to fail. Urban and populated suburban areas are more likely to have cell towers with generator backup with fuel reserves ranging from 1-7 days, depending on location and equipment owner.”

 

FEMA never published the report, which is dated December 2010. Off The Grid News reached out to an expert on the grid who has frequent contact with government agencies. This person said the report appeared to be legitimate.

 

“This paper recreates the 1859 event today using the latest research to explain and understand: 1) The nature and effects of radio blackouts, solar radiation storms, and geomagnetic storms; 2) their potential for cascading effects on global power and telecommunications systems; and, 3) the implications for FEMA …in planning for and responding to such an event,” the report reads.

 

A Carrington-type event would generate massive amounts of energy that would blow out transformers. It is the replacement of these transformers that is of concern to FEMA and other government agencies. Each transformer is custom-made; there are no backup parts. It is not known how many transformers there are in the U.S., but it likely is in the tens of thousands. Each one takes up to two years to build.

 

“Loss of key infrastructure for extended periods due to the cascading effects from a space weather event (or other disturbance) could lead to a lack of food, given low inventories and reliance on just-in-time delivery, loss of basic transportation, inability to pump fuel, and loss of refrigeration,” is how a 2008 report from the National Academy of Sciences described the aftermath of a major solar storm.

'Solar panels' usually refers to photovoltaic solar arrays. The example you cite is of a solar thermal array. There aren't many of them because they require a very large footprint and use mirrors to concentrate sunlight on a tower. Birds get burned by the intensity of sunlight reflected by the mirrors towards a central focus.

Fire Tornado' Spawns As Pipeline Fire Burns Thousands Of Acres In Arizona

 

The Pipeline Fire is currently burning thousands of acres across Arizona. One person captured a video of an apparent "fire tornado" that broke out as the fire torched the area.

 

Fox 10 Phoenix reported that Evan Mackenzie shared a video of the fire tornado that spawned off the fire just miles from Flagstaff. The fire tornado took place not far from where the Tunnel Fire burned just two months prior.

 

In the video, you can see tons of smoke blanketing the sky for miles. The video then zooms in on the dark-colored fire tornado, a terrifying sight.

More than 106,000 additional ballots were never returned to the election office

 

Nearly 100,000 mail-in ballots in Canada's last federal election were not counted, mostly due to their late arrival.

 

Elections Canada, which administers Canada's elections, released a report Wednesday stating that 99,988 ballots "had to be set aside and left unopened," 93% of which were not counted because they were received after the legal deadline.

 

Mail-in ballots that were disregarded may have came from voters who are members of the Canadian military, citizens who live abroad, and those who are incarcerated.

 

Canada saw an 82% increase in requests for special mail-in ballots for last years' election compared to 2019.

 

Additionally, more than 106,000 special ballots were never returned.

 

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau won reelection in 2021, after serving in his position since 2015.

A former altar boy sexually abused by Victorian priest Desmond Gannon has been awarded nearly $2 million in damages in a civil case against Melbourne's archbishop.

 

The sex abuse survivor, who cannot be named for legal reasons, brought the case against Peter Comensoli, claiming the Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne was vicariously liable for his abuse.

 

The victim said he felt like he was dead after Gannon first assaulted him - that the priest had murdered him and the little boy he used to be was gone forever.

 

He later contemplated suicide and abused alcohol as a way to numb his pain.

 

Gannon assaulted the victim on three occasions between 1968 and 1970 while the child was an altar boy and a pupil at a Catholic primary school in regional Victoria.

 

The former priest was sentenced for those crimes in 2009.

 

On one occasion, Gannon drove the boy down dirt roads out to a remote area, where he molested and raped him. At the time the boy was terrified Gannon would get a shovel, kill him and bury him.

 

The boy bled from the attack, and tried to hide it from his family in the following days.

 

On another occasion, Gannon's abuse only stopped when he was interrupted by another altar boy arriving at church.

 

The victim managed to escape Gannon's grasp on a third occasion when he lured him into a pump house with the promise of a cigarette.

 

Part of the victim's claim was that, in about 1960, Gannon sexually abused another young Catholic boy.

We lost so much.

 

We will never know how bad it is to have lost so many fathers, uncles, grandfathers, brothers, friends, heroes, mentors, and leaders. I can tell you though, seeing how my siblings grew up with my father around (we lost him when I was young) is so much better than not having him. There are certain certain wisdoms, morals, love, and responsibilities that a father passes on to his children. Every war out there we lost a bit of our identity as a people. Fathers carried legacies. Fathers carried history. Fathers carried the future. Fathers paved ways. But when they were removed, we lost it all.

 

I hope this day and age serves as a lesson to most and a reminder to some on why we have the laws we have. Why we have the religious beliefs we have. Why we place our faith in God. Why we exist. Why we fight to the death to protect those we love. Why we are who we are, and what caused us to be. Frens, if your father, grandfather, uncles are still alive, please, give them a hug and tell them you love them. They've filled a huge hole in our hearts, minds, and souls that we don't realize exists.

“Perhaps additional decisions will be made so that we can maintain control over the circulation of weapons – check whose it is, how the registration process will take place, in which periods the gun owner must undergo inspections,” the ministerial adviser explained.

 

He emphasized that the whole discussion is “only about pistols,” not about grenade launchers or Kalashnikov assault rifles.

 

According to the explanatory note of the legislation, which was supported at the first reading by 274 out of 352 MPs, the law would allow citizens who find themselves “in a situation of extreme necessity” to protect their own, as well as other people’s “life and health,” with the use of firearms.

 

According to the note, “firearms are the most effective means for citizens to exercise their constitutional right to self-defense.” The legislation’s authors also claim that a “vast majority of the developed countries of the world” have provided their citizens with this right and thus reduced the number of violent crimes.

 

As of February, the number of unregistered firearms in Ukraine amounted to between three million and five million, according to the document. Therefore, a main purpose of the bill is to streamline the rights and obligations for the production, acquisition, ownership, disposal, and use of weapons and ammunition.

 

On June 3, Fyodor Venislavsky, a member of the Rada’s Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence, spoke out in support of legalizing automatic firearms in Ukraine, not just short-barreled ones.

 

Following the launch of the Russian attack, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that his government would “give weapons to anyone who wants to defend the country.”

But they are not the smoking gun that some have made them out to be, and they have not been found to have had any influence on U.S. policies with respect to foreign nations, according to the Johnson report. He celebrated that Mass in honor of the children of Darfur and Katrina, preaching that ‘the needs of every child are the needs of Jesus Christ himself.’ Throughout his life, Father Drinan not only preached that message of justice and human rights; he embodied it.”

 

Yes, Father Drinan’s last public event was to announce that “the needs of every child are the needs of Jesus Christ himself” while feting the most pro-abortion Speaker in U.S. history.

 

Throughout the 1970s, it was often asked how Father Drinan could have served in Congress as a priest, let alone a priest who used his legislative vote and public position to promote abortion. Father Drinan and his Jesuit confreres repeatedly gave the impression that he had received approval from his Jesuit superiors and his local bishops.

 

It was a lie.

 

We now know that more fully, thanks to Father Mankowski, a Jesuit even more brilliant than Father Drinan, who died suddenly in September 2020.

 

Ignatius Press, founded by Father Joseph Fessio, another Jesuit eager for the truth to be known, published recently Jesuit At Large: Essays and Reviews by Paul V. Mankowski, S.J., edited by George Weigel.

 

The posthumous collection makes available some of Father Mankowski’s scintillating essays and reviews, which are both fierce and hilarious, sometimes simultaneously. The collection is a worthy introduction for those who haven’t read Father Mankowski — and a cause for regret that they didn’t read him earlier.

 

The most remarkable part of the book is a previously unpublished memorandum from April 2007, sent by Father Mankowski to some of his friends, entitled: “The Drinan Candidacy and the New England Province Archives.” Though he never published it himself, given his troubles with his Jesuit superiors, he clearly wanted an accurate record to be available for posterity.

 

That record is now available. It makes clear what many Catholics regarded as a scandal in the 1970s was actually much worse.
