1 dead after Amtrak train, FedEx truck crash in west Georgia, authorities say

 

HARALSON COUNTY, Ga. β€” An Amtrak train crashed into a FedEx box truck Monday morning in Haralson County, killing the driver of the truck, authorities said.

 

Amtrak said it was traveling from New York to New Orleans around 11 a.m. when a "vehicle that was obstructing the track came into contact with the train."

 

The rail line said 55 people plus crew members were on board and no one was injured.

 

11Alive SkyTracker showed packages and other debris along the tracks. The Amtrak train did not derail.

 

Georgia State Patrol said the truck was traveling south on J David Road approaching a stop sign for the railroad tracks. A witness told them that the box truck "failed to stop at the stop sign and traveled onto the railroad tracks into the path of the train."

 

The train struck the vehicle's driver's side and the train pushed it about 1/2 mile before coming to a stop.

 

The name of the truck driver has not been released.

Leon Black accused in lawsuit of raping woman in Jeffrey Epstein's mansion

 

A struggling single mom filed suit against Leon Black Monday, alleging the billionaire raped her in Jeffrey Epstein’s Manhattan townhouse two decades ago, new court papers show.

 

Cheri Pierson claims the dead pedophile arranged for her and Black, 71, to meet at his Upper East Side mansion, where the legendary investor and former head of Apollo Global Management assaulted her, according to her Manhattan Supreme Court lawsuit.

 

β€œShe recalls desperately yelling and screaming” and she β€œtried to kick” but β€œhe was too strong,” the suit states, describing the alleged 2002 incident.

 

Black’s lawyer Susan Estrich said in a statement that Pierson’s claims are β€œcategorically false” and part of her efforts to β€œextort money from Mr. Black by threatening to destroy his reputation.”

 

Pierson β€” who says she was introduced to Epstein in 2000 by his ex-girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell and an unnamed Ukrainian woman β€” came forward publicly for the first time in the suit, filed under New York’s Adult Survivors Act.

 

When she was roped into Epstein’s orbit, Pierson was a single mom trying to start a skincare line and struggling to make ends meet. She was paid around $300 for each of roughly five massages she gave to Epstein at the East 71st Street townhouse β€” where he would masturbate and ask her to perform oral sex on him, which she always refused, the suit claims.

 

Pierson then stopped seeing Epstein as he β€œwas not happy” that she wouldn’t go further with him. But then in 2002, she called him β€œin desperate need for money,” the filing states.

 

The well-connected financier had a messenger bring her a card with $300 and the message β€œcompliments of Jeffrey Epstein.” Shortly after, Epstein called Pierson saying he wanted to introduce someone who could help her β€” and set up a meeting with Black, the suit claims.

 

Black showed up in a business suit and seemed very familiar with Epstein’s home, taking Pierson up to the massage room and having $300 ready for her, the lawsuit alleges.

 

The hulking 6-foot-four, 300-pound Black allegedly undressed and insisted on giving her oral sex, which he did violently while holding her upside down with her legs over his shoulders, according to the suit, which notes Pierson was much slighter, weighing 125 pounds and being 5 feet 8 inches tall.

 

During the alleged rape, Black bit her causing β€œexcruciating pain,” the court papers claim.

 

After, when they both were outside, the former MOMA chairman told her, β€œBlack, my name is Leo Black,” before hopping in a town car and leaving, the lawsuit alleges.

 

Pierson says she had horrible vaginal swelling, tearing and bleeding that she had to recover from over the next several weeks. She was in pain and had difficulty urinating because of it, the suit claims.

 

Black reached out to her several times after, and she met up with him on two occasions – the first time she left soon after out of fear and devastation and on the second, he gave her $5,000 cash when they met at the bar of the St. Regis Hotel, the suit alleges.

 

Black called her soon after, saying he wanted to see her again and when Pierson asked why, he responded, β€œI just gave you $5,000!” according to the lawsuit.

One interesting consequence of reading this Nature article, and having access to the virus sequence, is that I now know how to modify the virus sequence to probably make it more deadly.

 

Here’s how:

 

The Nature article notes, for example, that variants of the PB2 Influenza gene with Glutamic acid at position 627 in the sequence has a low pathogenicity (not very deadly). However, PB2 variants with Lysine at the same position is more deadly. Well, let’s see the sequence of PB2 for H1N1. Going back to our NCBI database:

There. A single base-pair change, flipping two bits, is perhaps all you need to turn the current less-deadly H1N1 swine flu virus into a more deadly variant.

 

Theoretically, I could apply a long series of well-known biological procedures to synthesize this and actually implement this deadly variant; as a first step, I can go to any number of DNA synthesis websites (such as the cutely-named β€œMr. Gene”) and order the modified sequence to get my deadly little project going for a little over $1,000. Note that Mr. Gene implements a screening procedure against DNA sequences that could be used to implement biohazardous products. I don’t know if they specifically screen against HA variants such as this modified H1 gene. Even if they do, there are well-known protocols for site-directed mutagenesis that can possibly be used to modify a single base of RNA from material extracted from normal H1N1.

Adaptable Influenza

 

OK, before we get our hackles up about this little hack, let’s give Influenza some credit: after all, it packs a deadly punch in 3.2kbytes and despite our best efforts we can’t eradicate it. Could Influenza figure this out on its own?

 

The short answer is yes.

 

In fact, the Influenza virus is evolved to allow for these adaptations. Normally, when DNA is copied, an error-checking protein runs over the copied genome to verify that no mistakes were made. This keeps the error rate quite low. But remember, Influenza uses an RNA architecture. It therefore needs a different mechanism from DNA for copying.

 

It turns out that Influenza packs inside its virus capsule a protein complex (RNA-dependent RNA polymerase) that is customized for its style of RNA copying. Significantly, it omits the error checking protein. The result is that there is about one error made in copying every 10,000 base pairs. How long is the Influenza genome? About 13,000 base pairs. Thus, on average, every copy of an Influenza virus has one random mutation in it.

 

Some of these mutations make no difference; others render the virus harmless; and quite possibly, some render the virus much more dangerous. Since viruses are replicated and distributed in astronomical quantities, the chance that this little hack could end up occurring naturally is in fact quite high. This is part of the reason, I think, why the health officials are so worried about H1N1: we have no resistance to it, and even though it’s not quite so deadly today, it’s probably just a couple mutations away from being a much bigger health problem.

The world’s largest active volcano, Hawaii’s Mauna Loa, has started to erupt for the first time in nearly four decades, prompting volcanic ash and debris to fall nearby, authorities said Monday.

The eruption began at approximately 11:30 p.m. Sunday in Mokuβ€˜Δweoweo, the summit caldera of the Mauna Loa volcano, inside Hawaiβ€˜i Volcanoes National Park on the Big Island.

 

As of 2:43 a.m. local time, "the eruption continues at the summit of Mauna Loa," according to the latest Hawaiian Volcano Observatory Status Report from the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). "All vents remain restricted to the summit area," the report said. "However, lava flows in the summit region are visible from Kona. There is currently no indication of any migration of the eruption into a rift zone."

A rift zone is where the mountain is splitting apart, the rock is cracked and relatively weak and is easier for magma to emerge, according to the Associated Press.

"The Volcano Alert Level and Aviation Color Code for Mauna Loa remains at WARNING/RED,"the update added. "HVO is continuing to monitor conditions carefully and will issue additional notices as needed."

The USGS warned that residents at risk from Mauna Loa lava flows should review their eruption preparations. Scientists had been on alert because of a recent spike in earthquakes at the summit of the volcano, which last erupted in 1984.

Portions of the Big Island were under an ashfall advisory issued by the National Weather Service in Honolulu, which said up to a quarter-inch of ash could accumulate in some areas.

Mauna Loa is one of five volcanoes that together make up the Big Island of Hawaii, which is the southernmost island in the Hawaiian archipelago.

Mauna Loa, rising 13,679 feet above sea level, is the much larger neighbor to Kilauea volcano, which erupted in a residential neighborhood and destroyed 700 homes in 2018. Some of its slopes are much steeper than Kilauea’s so when it erupts, its lava can flow much faster.

During a 1950 eruption, the mountain’s lava traveled 15 miles to the ocean in less than three hours.

Mauna Loa last erupted for 20 days between March and April 1984. That means the new eruption that started Sunday night ended the volcano’s longest quiet period in recorded history.

"Based on past events, the early stages of a Mauna Loa eruption can be very dynamic and the location and advance of lava flows can change rapidly," the USGS said Sunday night. "If the eruption remains in Mokuβ€˜Δweoweo, lava flows will most likely be confined within the caldera walls. However, if the eruptive vents migrate outside its walls, lava flows may move rapidly downslope."

Evolution is not random. It is a property of the material universe which we do not understand. One does not need to believe in a creator to see this. Also, we do not know enough about the process to posit that only a creator could have done it. How do atoms combine to form a table or a chair? Theories about electron orbital patterns sort of explain this but I, for one, am not satisfied with the explanations. There is something very profound going on.

Many (not all) atheists are afraid of these simple truths because admitting to them is akin to admitting to the existence of a supreme being.

Is CBS's Show, "SURVIVOR," Involved in Child Porn and/or Child Trafficking?

 

It dawned on me that perhaps the real reason that CBS News didn't want to admit that the Hunter Biden Laptop was real is because the network is possibly involved in Child Porn and Child Trafficking through remote locations, like those used for the CBS show called "SURVIVOR."

 

CBS has apparently been using FBI-confirmed pedophile symbols in their props for the show Survivor for years.

The House of Representatives will soon hold a vote on legislation to avert a major railroad strike by implementing a deal between railroads and their unions, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced Monday.

 

The lower chamber will vote on legislation the Biden administration has endorsed, but the legislation is structured to require the unions to accept the agreement which several of them have already rejected, the Washington Examiner reported.

 

"The deal provides a historic 24% pay raise for rail workers," read a statement from the president. "It provides improved health care benefits. And it provides the ability of operating craft workers to take unscheduled leave for medical needs."

 

Last week, members of the nation's largest rail union rejected the agreement, setting the stage for a strike as all 12 of the nation's rail unions need to agree to a deal to avoid a strike. Should one refuse the terms, the other 11 will not cross a picket line.

 

Congress holds the power to force the unions to accept the terms of the agreement under the Railway Labor Act of 1926, the Examiner noted. Pelosi said the lower chamber would vote on the existing plan and make no changes to it. The Senate would then need to pass the measure to avert a strike.

 

Should Congress fail to act, a potential rail strike could have significant adverse effects on the U.S. economy. New York City, for example, uses the railways to transport the ''2.4 million pounds of human excrement residents produce daily to landfills across the country. Should the trains stop running, ''the city would be unable to cope with the buildup of human feces, a situation that would likely cause a sanitary catastrophe.

Maricopa County election certified as residents express grievances over 2022 results

 

'My ballot looked perfect and no matter what I did, the tabulator would not accept it,' one Maricopa resident said.

 

Residents of Maricopa County, Arizona expressed their disapproval of how the 2022 election was run at a Maricopa Board of Supervisors meeting on Monday that ended up certifying the results of the county's vote.Β 

 

The county took about a week to count the votes and many poll workers said that ballots weren't being read, tabulators weren't working, and many people were unable to vote.Β 

 

During closing remarks, county officials stressed that the election was secure and accurate. Chairman Bill Gates said while there were some issues, they were transparent about it.Β 

 

β€œLet me be abundantly clear: There has never been a perfect election, and this was not a perfect election,” Gates said. β€œThere were issues, but we were transparent about that.”

 

Maricopa citizens came to the board meeting to discuss their grievances regarding how the 2022 election was run.

 

"Thousands could not vote. Thousands left discouraged," Maricopa resident Sharon Huber said during public comment at the meeting today. "I was one of those voters disenfranchised in Wickenburg in Maricopa County. I tried to vote in person and I was told by the poll workers I had the right kind of ballot, that they had problems with the printers at first, as well as the tabulators all day long."

 

"Sure enough the tabulator would not accept my ballot," Huber continued. "I tried over and over for close to an hour β€” going from one tabulator to another. I inspected my ballot. My ballot looked perfect and no matter what I did, the tabulator would not accept it. I watched dozens of voters have the same problems."

 

Many poll workers came to the meeting to present issues they witnessed on Election Day.

 

"Voters this cycle have in fact been disenfranchised," poll worker Mike Peterson said to the Board of Supervisors.

 

According to Peterson, when a tabulator went down in one voting center, voters had to go to another voting center but they had not been properly checked out of the previous voting center. Peterson said that poll workers weren't taught how to properly check voters in and out of voting centers, resulting in issues of votes not being counted.Β 

 

"At my poll center, we literally had at 7 p.m. on Election Day 675 people waiting in line," Peterson said. "Of those 675 people, you know how many people came in? 150. It means that you have personally disenfranchised voters. They came, they have seen, and they have given up because they know what is going on."

 

Many residents called for the Board of Supervisors not to certify the election until the issues with the voting machines and process are resolved.Β

Florida Man Accused of Killing Random Couple and Chewing on Their Faces Found Not Guilty By Reason of Insanity

 

A Florida man accused of breaking into a random couple’s home, killing them, and chewing on their faces has been found not guilty by reason of insanity.

 

Austin Harrouff, 25, will be sent to a mental hospital instead of prison.

 

Harrouff was facing two counts of first-degree murder and other charges for killing John Stevens, 59, and his wife, Michelle Mishcon Stevens, 53, in 2016.

 

A neighbor was also seriously injured by Harrouff when they attempted to help the couple.

 

β€œPolice reportedly found Harrouff, who was 19 at the time, nearly naked and biting John Stevens’ face, WPLG reported. He did not know his victims and reportedly claimed he believed he was being chased by a demon,” Fox News reports. β€œIn a 38-page mental health report released by the Martin County State Attorney’s Office in 2019, forensic psychologist Dr. Phillip Resnick concluded that Harrouff believed he was β€˜half-dog, half-man’ during the attack.”

 

Harrouff had purchased hallucinogenic mushrooms in the days before the murders, but no traces were found in his bloodstream that day.

 

Harrouff had been facing life in prison if convicted.

 

Cindy Mishcon, the sister of Michelle Mishcon and an attorney, adamantly disagreed with the decision.

 

According to Fox News, Cindy Mishcon said during her victim impact statement that she realized β€œyou don’t care about anyone but yourself,” and that β€œthe only victim you and your family see is you, and the Harrouff name.”

Pentagon Admits It Can’t Account for $2 Trillion – AGAIN

 

In typical Groundhog Day fashion, the Pentagon has failed yet another audit. Yet, for the most part, nobody seems to care in the media or government. When you fail year after year, it becomes the rule versus the exception to fail basic standards.

 

This recent failure marks the fifth year that the Defense Department has failed to meet the audit requirements set by Congress. That’s right, dear reader, your former War Department can’t fully account for all of its assets.

 

So how bad was it? If you ask the lead money man of the five-sided building, it wasn’t that bad; I mean, it’s only a couple trillion dollars worth of stuff that we can’t find, that’s not that bad.

Of the 27 agencies audited within the Department of Defense, only seven received a passing grade. To put some dollar amounts to that, only 39% of the $3.5 trillion in assets are accounted for, leaving a deficit of about $2.2 trillion in assets unaccounted for.

Twitter cracks down on radical Antifa-affiliated accounts

 

The self-described anarchists have responded by calling for β€œactions” at Tesla locations across the US

A number of prominent Antifa-affiliated accounts were suspended by Twitter over the weekend for violating the platform’s terms of service, after Elon Musk decided to take a stand against incitement to violence.

Last week, the billionaire asked his 119 million followers which issues Twitter needed to address urgently, aside from removing child exploitation, which Musk described as β€œpriority #1.”

 

Journalist Andy Ngo pointed out radical Antifa accounts that continued to operate on the platform, despite using it to β€œpromote riots, give tips on how to commit violent crimes, doxing” and calling for attacks on people and their family members.

 

Musk responded by saying β€œincitement to violence will result in account suspension” and called it β€œvery concerning” that Twitter had taken no action until now, despite the clear violations of its rules.

 

On Friday, several Antifa-affiliated accounts were blocked from the platform, including the notorious CrimethInc group, which Ngo claimed β€œoperates like ISIS'' by spreading propaganda and training materials to β€œradicalize militants toward violence.”

 

The group has been closely linked to the 2020 Black Lives Matter riots and even posted an extensive action strategy guide ahead of the 2020 presidential election including fashion advice, first aid for common injuries from police weapons and instructions on how to best use leaf blowers, laser pointers, shields and helmets.

 

Antifa responded to their suspension with a statement saying they had been banned at the urging of β€œa far-right troll,” a reference to Ngo, andadded they had β€œnever been suspended or received a warning throughout fourteen years of Twitter administrations.”

 

Later that day, an Antifa activist in Portland, Oregon posted calls for β€œactions” at Tesla dealerships across the US, asserting that β€œfascist Elon Musk has chosen his side in history aligning with fascists and white supremacy.” A picture of a burning car accompanied the tweet. Another tweet gave a list of Tesla facilities and their locations. The account has since been suspended.

 

Musk has faced criticism for laying off thousands of employees since his takeover of Twitter, with some claiming that the platform is now becoming a hotbed for so-called β€œhate speech” and right-wing extremism.

 

The billionaire, however, has insisted that his company remains dedicated to monitoring violent content and will never allow open calls to violence or other posts that break the law. β€œTwitter will be a forum for the peaceful exchange of views,” Musk wrote, adding that despite the layoffs, the actual rate of hateful comments on the site is now lower than it was before the takeover.

All this talk about music and frequencies effecting DNA just made me think about one night when I was a little kid I was laying in bed in the dark and started crying because very feint sound frequencies were making me feel emotional and I had no idea why. It's 440 vs 432. I played around with music synthesis on a Sound Blaster years ago and I experimented with the two tones. I found that 440 is more melodious when multiple notes are played simultaneously but 432 sounds better with single notes. I finally stayed with 440 because music isn't played one note at a time. It's a controversy which can never be settled, I think.

Who Is Lotta Volkova? Stylist Linked to Balenciaga, Kanye West

Fashion's "fave it girl" Lotta Volkova has been dragged into the Balenciaga drama after photoshoots posted to her Instagram were unearthed featuring mutilation, satanic themes and violence.

 

Described as the "coolest stylist in the industry" by Vogue and given the 'it girl' moniker by Dazed, Volkova has worked with some of the biggest names in fashion, including Balenciaga and Jean Paul Gaultier.

But now some of her work has been called into question amid Balenciaga's "child porn" controversy.

One image showed a woman lying on a pentagram as a satanic figure looms ==over her, while another showed a woman dead on her side in a field with her stomach ripped open and entrails sprawling onto the grass beneath her.

A third photo seemed to be a vintage-styled men's bedroom but was covered in blood with bullets and broken glass strewn across the floor.

Finally, the fourth image London shared was a child holding up skull within a frame of the star sign symbols from the astrological chart.

Born in 1984, Volkova grew up in Vladivostok in Russia and started her first fashion label, a jeanswear company called Lotta Skeletrix,when she was 19 years old.

She had moved to London two years earlier to study fashion at the Central Saint Martins college.

The Russian soon left design behind her and turned her attention to styling, which is when her career took off.

Volkova styled for major publications such as Dazed & Confused Japan, and Harper's Bazaar Russia, before starting her own eponymous fashion label.

But it was when she teamed up with Demna Gvasalia, creative director of Balenciaga and co-founder of Vetements that Volkova became the darling of the fashion world.

She worked closely with Gvasalia on styling at Balenciaga, but was also in charge of "the casting, the styling and… also consulting Demna with the collection," Volkova told 032c magazine in 2016.

That year, the pair faced controversy for casting all white models in the Balenciaga and Vetements autumn/winter runway shows. At the time, Volkova said she found the criticism of their casting choices as "shocking."

"Those were some shocking allegations for us. We cast certain characters for certain looks and felt we were paying a lot of attention to diversity," Volkova told 032c.

"We had Russian gay people in the casting, people from so many different cultural backgrounds. But I take this as a challenge now to pay more attention for the future. Not because I want to be politically correct, but because I don't want to offend anyone."

The pair had also caught the attention of Yeβ€”then known as Kanye Westβ€” who tweeted in 2016, "I'm going to steal Demna from Balenciaga," for his Yeezy collaboration with Adidas.

Volkova and Gvasalia would go on to work closely with the rapper, whom Balenciaga had picked up as an ambassador. They released a major collaboration with Gap in 2022. co-developed by Gvasalia and Ye.

But Ye was dropped by Adidas and Balenciaga in October after a string of antisemitic tweets, where he wrote that he was "going death con 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE."
