UFC Legend Holly Holm Calls Out ‘Sexualization of Children’ In Post-Fight Interview

 

UFC legend Holly Holm spoke out against the “sexualization of children” after picking up a win in San Antonio on Saturday night.

 

Holm’s win over Yana Santos marked the first in a little over two years for the former Women’s Bantamweight champion. After a close first round, the 41-year-old managed to take Santos down in the second. From there it was more or less domination for the future hall of famer, who departed from her usual boxing style in favor of a ground attack that Santos had no answer for.

 

After her win, Holm took the opportunity to condemn the “sexualization of children” in society. “Something’s been on my heart and I feel like I have the platform to say it, I need to say it,” Holm said. “I just feel it’s really sad all the sexualization of our children right now and we need to protect them whatever that may be. Let’s protect the children, please!”

 

The former champion later clarified her statement at the post-fight press conference. “You know there’s a lot of things, I don’t ever want to be… I’m not even a real political person,” she said. “I don’t like to put that stuff around any of my social media… but there’s also just right and wrong. I feel like everybody should be on the same side on that. I don’t feel like that has anything to do with left side, right side or anything like that. I feel like everybody should be wanting to protect their children.”

 

“There’s a lot of child trafficking. I mean that’s like the extreme part. There’s a lot of levels to it. You see it almost being more accepted and I think that’s really sad. I feel like we should all do what we can. A lot of people don’t know what to do. But at least if I can have a voice on it then that’s something I can speak out on. And it’s just to get everybody together to protect children,” Holm continued.

Holly Holm soundly defeated Yana Santos at UFC on ESPN 43. It was the co-main event fight of the card. Holm returned to the winning column after losing a split decision to Ketlen Viera last year. However, it was not Holm’s victory that captured everyone’s attention. It was her post-fight speech that got fans riled up.

 

In her post-fight interview with Michael Bisping, she talked about her performances and the impact of her team during training camp. At the end of the interview, she said, “Protect our children“, alluding to various sexualising of children scandals in the United States

Manitoba family sues AstraZeneca after son's stroke following COVID jab

 

The lawsuit names the defendants as the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority, Canada's attorney general, and the Ontario-based Verity Pharmaceuticals, who manufactured the AstraZeneca shot.

 

A Manitoba family alleges their son suffered a stroke after getting the COVID jab from AstraZeneca Canada.

 

Jackson Troy Reimer, now 23, got vaccinated while working at the Whistler Blackcomb ski resort in 2021, supposedly "in excellent health" at the time.

 

Now, he is unable to work or care for himself.

 

According to a statement of claim filed in Manitoba's Court of King's Bench on March 16, Reimer started feeling dizzy, losing his vision and having severe headaches six days after getting the jab.

 

The lawsuit said a CT scan at Vancouver General Hospital found Reimer had a hemorrhagic stroke, requiring two platelet infusions and a subsequent craniotomy to stop bleeding in his brain.

Here's a thought I had after yesterday's great rally. This is why the Q message is so important.

 

It doesn't matter that they use it as a way to attack Trump. Of course they will do that with anything.

 

Because this is literally what Trump is about. All of the things we discuss here every day.

 

It's important that people gradually start to get that. Even if not "everyone" - the bell curve. But some.

Big Tech, weapons, tax havens, even Rupert Murdoch – secrets from the Future Fund investment vault

 

The secretive Future Fund’s chairman Peter Costello might not like it, but Freedom of Information requests are peeling back the lid on the Fund’s weighty overseas investments.

 

Big Tech, Big Pharma and Big Oil are the top of the pops in a newly released list of Future Fund Investments across the United States, United Kingdom and a range of tax havens, notably among the Cayman Islands.

 

These revelations come on top of revelations earlier this year about ethically and environmentally questionable Future Fund investments in China.

 

The latest FOI drilling into the side of the vault also shed light on the Fund’s investments in arms manufacturers, Chinese companies operating out of the Caymans as well as politically controversial investments in Rupert Murdoch’s right-wing media empire.

 

It’s so infuriated Senator Barbara Pocock, who has been pursuing the Fund’s investment practices the Senate. “It should not take FOI requests for Australian citizens to find out where their own money is being invested. The Future Fund is suffering from a corrosive secrecy disease.

 

The public should know about these Future Fund investments in carbon polluting fossil fuels, in arms manufacture and in companies based in tax havens – not to mention the Murdoch and Fox media empires. It’s time to come clean.

 

Big Tech

 

In what may be its largest investment in a single publicly listed foreign company, the Future Fund holds a $793 million stake in tech giant Microsoft. Other very large Future Fund tech investments include Google owner Alphabet ($559.9m), NVIDIA ($346.8m), Cisco Systems ($288.2m), Meta Platforms ($256.4m) and Intel Corp ($240.0m). Amazon comes in with a rather more modest investment of $187 million.

 

Given the vital importance of IT and telecommunications policy for Australian governments, business, our economy and society, disclosure of the nature and scale of these publicly funded investments is clearly in the public interest.

 

However, it only comes after the Future Fund was forced to abandon its deep preference for secrecy and resistance to scrutiny through FOI.

Pharma, energy and mining

 

Big Pharma and healthcare are another favoured destination for the Future Fund’s investments with a $279.4m stake in Pfizer, $257.7m with Johnson & Johnson, and $258.4m with United Health Group.

 

Big Oil and other carbon polluting sectors enjoy significant Future Fund backing. Coming in well above the $200 million threshold is US energy giant Exxon Mobil ($262.4m) which tops a long list of American and British oil, gas and other energy supply and distribution companies including Occidental Petroleum ($24.9m), Chevron ($65.5m),Edison International ($158.9m), National Grid (181.4m), Glencore ($21.8m) and Marathon Petroleum ($34m), as well as multinational miner Rio Tinto ($63m).

 

Also among the Future Fund’s many energy and mining investments is a stake in the controversial mining and fracking equipment and services supplier Halliburton ($7.3m).

Vehicle investments

 

Investments in the US automotive sector include Elon Musk’s electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla ($114.0m), but that commitment is smaller in size that the Fund’s stake in General Motors ($139.4m) and only slightly ahead of that in Ford Motor ($107.5m).

Hamilton County first grade teacher indicted on multiple sexual abuse charges involving students

 

A first grade teacher at Wallace A. Smith Elementary School in Ooltewah has been indicted on sexual abuse charges against multiple minors.

 

The teacher, Duane Sanders, has been taken into custody by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office and is awaiting booking, according to a news release.

 

Last week, school officials met with District Attorney General Coty Wamp, who revealed there was probable cause to believe Sanders had sexually abused multiple first grade students, a news release stated.

 

Police were notified of an allegation of inappropriate behavior on March 3, and Hamilton County Schools officials said they were notified two weeks ago of a Department of Children’s Services investigation into Sanders, a news release stated.

 

Sanders was suspended without pay pending the outcome of the investigation.

 

A Hamilton County grand jury handed down a multiple-count indictment for Sanders on Monday, according to a news release.

 

Police officials in the news release said the indictment will remain under seal. The investigation remains ongoing and more victims may be identified.

 

“We are heartbroken at the thought that any school system employee would harm a child,” school officials said.

 

According to an archived page on the district’s website, Sanders was recognized as an “HCS Hero” in April 2021. The page, which has been removed, states that Sanders had been part of Hamilton County Schools since 2009, when he began as a substitute teacher. In 2014, he became an educational assistant and then a certified teacher in 2017.

 

A parent was quoted on the page saying Sanders led the school’s safety patrol at the time and hosted after-school reading programs for students.

 

Sanders was also quoted.

 

“I have supported changes during COVID-19 by finding ways for students to work together in groups and still do the fun things like reader’s theater, games, and planting and growing plants,” Sanders said. “We have had to be creative to try to catch kids up on lost learning.”

 

The district is offering counseling and support services to any family or student in the district who may need it.

 

School officials said they will continue to work with law enforcement to identify any other potential victims of abuse.

As reported by the Post Millennial, the story starts with a man named James Vasquez who formerly worked for Ripley’s Heroes. Vasquez boasted about joining the Ukraine army in 2022 to fight the Russians and bragged about his supposed exploits, including “taking out seven Russian tanks.”

 

This caught Kinzinger’s attention and he started promoting Vasquez. He urged Twitter to verify his account and posed together with the supposed hero.

 

There was just one problem: Vasquez lied about everything. Now Ripley’s Heroes is being investigated by the federal government.

 

They do seem close, don’t they?

Last spring, a volunteer group called Ripley’s Heroes said it had spent approximately $63,000 on night-vision and thermal optics. Some of the equipment was subject to American export restrictions because, in the wrong hands, it could give enemies a battlefield advantage.

 

Frontline volunteers said Ripley’s delivered the equipment to Ukraine without required documentation listing the actual buyers and recipients. Recently, the federal authorities began investigating the shipments, U.S. officials said.

 

In his defense, the group’s founder, a retired U.S. Marine named Lt. Col. Hunter Ripley Rawlings IV, provided deal documents to The Times. But those records show that, just as the volunteers said, Ripley’s was not disclosed to the State Department as the buyer.

 

Kinzinger either participated in a vile scam that defrauded innocent people who thought they were helping veterans or he is just a vain moron and useful idiot. Either way, this a horrible look for the former congressman.

Latex spill in Delaware river causes Philly residents to turn to bottled water

 

City authorities have advised against consuming the water after latex finishing material was dumped into Bristol, Pennsylvania's Otter Creek.

 

Residents in and around a Philadelphia suburb are being told to not drink or use tap water as officials are "monitoring" the Friday release of "hazardous materials" into a local creek, Breaking 911 reports.

 

According to the outlet, city authorities have advised against consuming the water after latex finishing material was dumped into Bristol, Pennsylvania's Otter Creek. "As cleanup measures are underway, authorities advise the public to avoid the water and surrounding area," the publication reported.

 

Bristol is located about 23 miles from the center of Philadelphia, where officials have claimed that there is no evidence to prove the water is contaminated, but people should avoid consuming the water as a precaution.

 

"Philadelphia Water Department customers in the city are recommended to use bottled drinking water beginning at 2:00 pm today until further notice out of an abundance of caution," Philadelphia authorities said on Sunday.

 

As reported by ABC 6, the US Coast Guard has said that the materials spilled into the waterway, which connects to the Delaware River, from a ruptured pipe from local chemical plant Trinseo PLC.

 

"It hit the roof of a building, went down a gutter, from the gutter it went to a storm drain, from the storm drains it found another outfall basin, from there it started to leak into the river," Trinseo Senior Vice President of Manufacturing and Engineering Tim Thomas told the outlet.

 

ABC reports that "an estimated 8,100 gallons of latex finishing material, a water-soluble acrylic polymer solution was released into the creek."

 

According to Michael Carroll, Philadelphia's deputy managing director for transportation, infrastructure, and sustainability, "the health risks are very low if present at all. No acute effects are associated with low level exposure."

 

"Our best information is that people who ingest water will not suffer any near-term symptoms or acute medical conditions. We foresee no reason to seek medical attention related to this event," he said, adding that the water intakes at the Baxter Drinking Water Treatment Plant on the Delaware River were closed after the incident "to maintain minimum levels of water in the system to avoid any damage to our equipment to continue supplying water for including fire safety and other needs."

 

"Contaminates have not been found in our system at this time," Carroll said.

 

"Nonetheless, because we cannot be 100 percent sure that there won't be traces of these chemicals in the tap water throughout the afternoon, we want the public to be aware so that people can consider switching to bottled water to further minimize any risk. Therefore, we are notifying the public in the customer service area that they may wish not to drink or cook with tap water… Additionally, there is no concern over skin exposure or fire hazard. Bathing and washing dishes do not present a concern. Likewise, we have no concern over inhaling fumes at the levels we are evaluating."

Amtrak Begins to Restore Service After Server Issues Force Cancellations

 

Amtrak is restoring service after a slew of train cancellations, primarily in the Midwest due to “a rail-industry control system that continues to experience intermittent communications issues,” according to Amtrak spokesperson W. Kyle Anderson.

Who funds Antifa protests? We all do

 

Last week, the city of Philadelphia agreed to pay $9.25 million to 343 left-wing protesters who alleged they suffered “physical and emotional injuries” when police used tear gas and pepper spray to clear them off a major highway in downtown at a Black Lives Matter-style direct action in 2020.

 

Videos recorded at the time showed the mob shut down the highway while vandalizing public property.

 

As a journalist who reports on the militant far-left and its rioters, the question I’m asked most often is, “Who funds them?”

 

Some believe billionaire George Soros is responsible.

 

And they would be partially correct. Soros funds groups that form part of the support apparatus of left-wing militants — district attorneys, biased media and legal groups.

 

But his money doesn’t directly reach the pockets of militants on the street.

 

Who ends up paying far-left rioters like Antifa? Too often, taxpayers like you and me.

 

Through a developed network of radical leftist legal groups, like the National Lawyers Guild, lawfare against cities and police departments is the go-to method for payloads. At nearly every left-wing “direct action” or riot, you’ll see NLG “legal observers” move in and out with the mob to record police. This “evidence gathering” is propaganda made to portray the police in the worst possible light while specifically omitting any recordings of what their comrades do.

 

Independent press are subjected to assault and robbery by others in the group to maintain tight control over the narrative and any photographic evidence. Kyle Seraphin, a former-FBI agent who was assigned to do surveillance in Portland during the 2020 Antifa riots, says the green-hat “legal observers” were linked via radio with the mob and worked as auxiliary counter-surveillance.

 

Seraphin told me: “My team witnessed several instances of NLG hat-wearing ‘legal observers’ calling out the license plates of suspected surveillance personnel [over] radios — sometimes accurately, sometimes not. These call-outs were met with a response by 5-6 uniformly clad, black-bloc individuals who attempted to intimidate the suspected ‘fed.’ ”

 

On March 5, an NLG member and staff attorney for the Southern Poverty Law Center named Thomas Jurgens was charged with domestic terrorism for his alleged involvement in a violent Antifa attack on police in Atlanta.

 

When the NLG’s legal observers and their comrades are arrested, they’re immediately provided with pro-bono legal aid and connections for bail money (rioters often write the NLG’s phone number on their body in anticipation of arrests.)

Manhattan DA’s Office Rips GOP House Judiciary Staffer: ‘Stop Calling Us With This Bulls**t!’

 

A Republican House Judiciary Committee staffer was verbally abused by someone in Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office late last week following multiple attempts to obtain some information, according to a report.

 

News broke last week that the grand jury Bragg convened to investigate former President Donald Trump for an alleged improper “hush money” payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 election. Trump predicted on social media that he would be indicted by Bragg’s grand jury, but that didn’t happen. In fact, not only has there not been an indictment at all, but Bragg released the grand on Thursday for at least a week.

 

As part of the Trump investigation, a House Judiciary Committee staffer contacted Bragg’s office multiple times this week to request documents. In response, a Bragg staffer reportedly told them, according to the New York Post: “Your committee has no jurisdiction over us. You’re wrong. Stop calling us with this bullshit.”

 

On Thursday, a spokesperson from Bragg’s office responded to House Republicans after they launched an investigation earlier in the week into his Trump probe, stating that they did not have a “legitimate basis” for their inquiry.

 

Leslie Dubeck, the in-house general counsel for the prosecutor leading the investigation, referred to the lawmakers’ request for communications, documents, and testimony as “an unprecedented inquiry into a pending local prosecution.”

 

Their requests, Dubeck noted further, “are an unlawful incursion into New York’s sovereignty. Congress’s investigative jurisdiction is derived from and limited by its power to legislate concerning federal matters,” according to the Daily Wire.

 

In response to reports suggesting that an indictment against Trump was imminent, House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH), House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY), and House Administration Committee Chairman Bryan Steil (R-WI) wrote a letter to Bragg on Monday, warning of “an unprecedented abuse of prosecutorial authority: the indictment of a former President of the United States and current declared candidate for that office.”

 

Dubeck further claimed their inquiry “only came after Donald Trump created a false expectation that he would be arrested the next day and his lawyers reportedly urged you to intervene.”

 

“Neither fact is a legitimate basis for congressional inquiry,” Dubeck added in the correspondence, which was posted online by Punchbowl News.

 

Dubeck referred to a New York Times report which stated that Trump’s lawyer, Joseph Tacopina, had written to Jordan last month, urging Congress to investigate the “egregious abuse of power” by what he characterized as a “rogue local district attorney.”

 

Dubeck concluded by saying that Bragg’s team “will not allow a Congressional investigation to impede the exercise of New York’s sovereign police power” but added that his office “will always treat a fellow government entity with due respect.” As such, Dubeck added, Bragg’s team would be requesting a “meet and confer to understand whether the Committee has any legitimate legislative purpose in the requested materials that could be accommodated without impeding those sovereign interests.”

 

Other notable figures have criticized Bragg for launching the investigation in the first place.

 

“I don’t understand why Bragg is putting such emphasis on this case,” former New York Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo told WABC Radio on Friday.

 

“A person breaks the law, I get it, but on the state side, this is a misdemeanor case. It’s really a federal case because he needs it to be a campaign finance fraud case which is a federal case, and that’s what Bragg is going to have to do to get a felony out of this,” he said.

 

The former governor said that people are generally “cynical” and “when they see prosecutors bringing these political cases,” it just “affirms everybody’s cynicism.”

 

“I think it’s all politics, and that’s what I think the people of this country are saying,” he said. “It just feeds that anger and that cynicism and the partisanship. It’s a coincidence that Bragg goes after Trump and [NY Attorney General Letitia James] goes after Trump, and Georgia goes after Trump? That’s all a coincidence? I think it feeds the cynicism, and that’s the cancer in our body politic right now.”

 

However, he added that he does believe an indictment will be coming for Trump next week based on how simple it is to indict anyone if you want to.

 

“I’m sure they’ll get an indictment,” he said.

The initiative is part of a broader effort by the Biden administration to increase oversight of schools, improve student experiences, and hold low-performing and predatory schools accountable.

 

“Building the secret shopper program is a good investment that will return dividends towards protecting students and taxpayer dollars,” Kyra Taylor, a staff attorney at National Consumer Law Center, told Yahoo Finance. “But this is just the first step [and] investigation alone is not enough. The Department must take bold steps to shut poorly performing schools down and to provide all borrowers who attended those schools with relief.”

 

Shoppers will specifically be on the lookout for misrepresentations related to the following:

 

Transferability of credits

 

Job placement rates

 

Completion and withdrawal rates

 

Graduates’ future earning potential

 

Career services

 

Cost of attendance

 

Amount of federal student aid

 

Accreditation status

 

Other practices that could violate regulations that govern participation in the federal student aid programs

 

If any misrepresentations are found, they can be used as evidence to support the enforcement division of the department or the Office of Inspector General’s investigations.

 

“Secret shopping is another tool in FSA’s toolbox as we expand our oversight work to hold predatory schools accountable,” Richard Cordray, chief operating officer at Federal Student Aid (FSA), said in a press release. “Our focus — as always — is to ensure that students, borrowers, families, and taxpayers are not being preyed upon to make a quick buck.”

 

Predatory and low-value schools have been a focus of the Biden administration and contribute to the student debt crisis, leading to debt discharges related to the closed school loan discharge and borrower loan defense discharge programs.

 

If a school closes while students are enrolled, federal student loan borrowers can have their loans discharged. If a school made fraudulent misrepresentations that caused a student to enroll, they can use the borrower loan defense to get their federal student loans discharged.

 

Under the Biden administration, the Department has discharged $11.4 billion in student loan debt related to the borrower loan defense discharge for students at ITT Tech, DeVry University, Corinthian College, and Westwood College.

 

Credits that students earned at ITT weren’t transferable, and many ITT campuses lacked internet and training equipment, according to ED findings. Corinthian College was accused of misrepresentations about finances and job placement rates.

 

Westwood College made "substantial misrepresentations" about job placement rates, including “misleading guarantees” about getting jobs in their field of study, “assurances of unrealistic post-graduation salaries,” and exaggerations about “the transferability of its credits” when the institution knew those credits “would rarely transfer,” according to ED findings.

 

In addition to the secret shoppers, last year FSA released two bulletins to protect veterans and service members from schools making misrepresentations on the GI Bill and to set up a tip hotline so consumers can report any potential violations of laws for federal student aid programs.

 

In 2021, the administration also reinstated the Office of Enforcement within Federal Student Aid in charge of school oversight and accountability efforts.

 

“Schools that engage in fraud or misconduct are on notice that we may be listening and they should clean up accordingly,” Kristen Donoghue, chief enforcement officer at FSA, said in the press release. “But schools that treat current and prospective students fairly and act lawfully have nothing to fear from secret shopping.”

In 1904, bees began to die on the Isle of Wight following the installation of radio

1918 and 1921, he suffered suicidal depression while working on a shortwave transmitter. In

1927, while on his honeymoon from his second marriage, he collapsed with chest pain and

was diagnosed with serious cardiac disorders. Between 1934 and 1937, while he was

developing microwave technology, he had nine heart attacks – the final one killing him at

the age of 63.

On the same island, at Osborne House, Queen Victoria suffered cerebral

hemorrhages and died on the evening of January 22nd 1901, just as Marconi was putting a

new transmitter into operation less than 13 miles away.

In 1901 there were “only” two transmitters, while in 1904 there were four, making

this island the most irradiated place on the planet, leaving bees no room for survival. In

1906, a survey revealed that 90% of the bees had completely disappeared for no apparent

reason. New colonies were brought to the island, but these likewise died within a week.

This epidemic spread across England and then across the western world, and then

gradually stabilized, until the armies equipped themselves with various high-powered radio

transmitters towards the end of the First World War – triggering (as we have seen) the

Benny Johnson recently visited Washington, DC to film a practical joke where he went to the headquarters of the Department of Transportation and set up a fake station to offer bottles of water, explaining it originated from East Palestine, Ohio, only to encounter a 25-year DOT veteran who told him that the bungled response to the February 3 train derailment was politically motivated.

 

"I'm in federal railroad," the man said, explaining that in the wake of the Norfolk Southern 50-car train derailment that released toxic chemicals into the East Palestine community, "Nobody panicked. Nobody scrambled. And it's, like, why? Why aren't we taking this seriously?"

 

The man said that, under Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, the department directs resources based on a state's political leanings and the fact that East Palestine voted for Trump by a 70 percent margin affected the government's response to the crisis.

 

"They'll step in—well we want this project because it's a blue state, no matter how bad it is," the employee said and explained that "they appoint these leaders of each group, and then they make sure the money will be directed."

 

"That it goes to a blue state, not a red state?" Johnson asked.

 

"Right," the man said.

 

"Do you think this was politically motivated in East Palestine?"

 

"Yes," he replied.

 

On February 6, authorities began burning off chemicals from the derailment to reduce the risk of a vinyl chloride explosion. The two men discussed how it was the government that instructed the railroad to proceed in that manner. Residents returned home from their evacutation on February 9, only to find a chemical odor remaining in the air and dead fish in rivers and creeks. Johnson visited and said his eyes and mouth were "stinging" from whatever lingered.

 

EPA administrator Michael S. Regan was asked if he would let his children drink the water, which authorities claimed was safe again, but residents worried it was contaminated. Regan said, "Yes, as a father, I trust the science." The water Johnson handed out in DC was actually from Whole Foods.

 

The Department of Transportation worker also said, "Years ago they made a big fuss about trains carrying these chemicals that go through these urban areas. And now they reroute them through all these little towns."

 

The worker explained that this maneuver did not get attention in the press but said, "I was here 20 years, I know that they made it a point to reroute these trains so all these little towns get a shaft."

 

"You didn't hear this from me. Within the office there. They're saying that derailments are down 15 percent since Covid, but we know the derailments are up. They're trying to paint that picture so as not to bring the harsh light," he added, and explained how the Department of Transportation was using derailment numbers from 2020-2021, when there were fewer trains running altogether because of Covid, to normalize the false statistic.

 

The employee said that the current administration will make efforts to keep an oil pipeline closed in Alaska but "trains are rolling through middle America carrying all kinds of sh*t."

 

Another revelation from the worker was that there was once a regulation that required "a human being to walk the tracks or ride a vehicle over the track" for the sake of inspection. But under Trump, the department transitioned to a better system with "automatic inspection systems, computers on vehicles, they measure, they shoot laser beams. It's a fact. They capture information. That's better."

 

"This administration put a hold on all that because it takes away union jobs," the man said.

 

The man said earlier in the conversation that Buttigieg "has his own dining room" and that he rarely shows up to work unless they are "having a party or something."

 

"And then what they do is they come around and they want to make sure there's enough people in the office that day so that he has people to greet," the man said, and called it all "an elaborate production."

Josh Hawley Unveils ‘Worker’s Agenda’ to End U.S. Free Trade with China

 

Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) has unveiled his “worker’s agenda,” which includes legislation to end the United States’ decades-long, job-killing free trade status with China.

 

Last week, Hawley proposed the “Ending Normal Trade Relations with China Act” which would effectively impose high tariffs on Chinese imports to the U.S. by revoking China’s free trade status that the communist country has enjoyed for more than two decades.

Twitter Employees Reportedly Put on Notice with 2:30 am Message from Elon Musk

 

Elon Musk has issued marching orders to Twitter workers that he wants them either marching back to the office or out the door.

 

The order was contained in a memo to Twitter staff issued at 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Platformer managing editor Zoë Schiffer tweeted.

 

“NEW: Apple is tracking employee attendance (via badge records) and will give employees escalating warnings if they don’t come in 3x per week. ALSO: Elon Musk sent Twitter employees an email at 2:30am saying the ‘office is not optional’ and noting SF was half empty yesterday,” she wrote.

 

For months, Musk has been pushing for Twitter workers to return to the office.

 

Schiffer followed that up with a series of tweets summarizing a memo from Musk to Twitter staff about the state of the company.

 

As noted by Fox Business, the pandemic-era turn to remote work is ending as companies increasingly bring workers back to the office.

 

A Bureau of Labor Statistics report issued last week shows that as of a 2022 business survey, 72.5 percent of businesses were not using remote work options, up from 60.1 percent in 2021.

 

The report said 16.4 percent of businesses had some but not all workers teleworking, down from 29.8 percent in 2021.

“There’s a sense that innovation, creativity and collaboration can suffer when teams are apart,” Mike Steinitz, senior executive director at Robert Half, a recruiting firm, told The Wall Street Journal.

The company found that 92 percent of managers want teams working at the office,

“They believe employees are simply more productive in the office,” Steinitz said. “They also feel that it’s important for mentoring and training both new and existing employees.”

Rupert Murdoch faces jail for threatening employee to lie under oath in $1.6 billion Dominion defamation case

 

Abby Grossberg who works for Rupert Murdoch’s Fox News in the US has filed 2 proceedings against Fox, one in Delaware and one in New York, claiming “Fox’s legal team coerced, intimidated, and misinformed Ms. Grossberg as they “prepared” her in connection” with giving evidence in the Dominion defamation claim against Fox.

 

This is dynamite and if Abby Grossberg has solid evidence to back up her claims it could torpedo any defence Fox has against the defamation claim and could also lead to criminal charges against Rupert and Lachlan Murdoch and others for threatening a witness to lie under oath. Once one person flips others will likely follow which is another danger for the Murdochs.

 

The same judge in Delaware who is dealing with the Dominion v Fox defamation matter has also been handed the matter Abby Grossberg filed in Delaware and he said in court on Wednesday “it had been assigned to him because it was “related.”

 

Fox and Dominion were in court on Wednesday both arguing that the defamation matter should be decided by summary judgment, but it is likely to go to a hearing in April. The judge did make a few comments worth noting:

 

He said one of Fox’s arguments “doesn’t seem to be intellectually honest.” At another point, he openly questioned how Fox News could argue that former host Lou Dobbs had engaged in legally protected “neutral” reporting when he signed many of his tweets with a MAGA hashtag. Abby Grossberg makes numerous other complaints including “Consistent with Fox News’s long history of tolerating gender harassment and targeting women who report it, Fox News retaliated against Ms. Grossberg after she complained about the unlawful harassment”.

Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin has accused Australia of joining a new global “axis” with the United States and NATO that he said bears resemblance to the World War II alliance between Nazi Germany, fascist Italy and imperial Japan.

Dating apps ordered to hand over data to federal government

 

Popular dating apps have been ordered to hand over data to the federal government following a national roundtable into the rise of sexual and domestic violence on the platforms.

The National Roundtable on Online Dating Safety was held in January but months down the track, questions have been asked about what changes have been made so far.

Communications Minister Michelle Rowland has provided an update on what we can expect to see rolled out on the platforms and at a policy level to protect Aussies from harm.

 

It comes as data shows more than three million people use dating apps across the country while three in four of those people have experienced sexual violence or harassment on the apps.

Here's what we know so far about policy and app changes to enhance safety.

What has happened since the national roundtable?

The government is eager to prevent violence on dating app platforms but has stressed there is no overnight fix.

"Dating apps are now the most common way to meet a partner in Australia," Rowland said.

"I'm determined that online dating platforms are committed to ending violence against women and I am pleased with recent progress that has been made."

Since January, Rowland has requested data from the top ten online dating services used by Australians, including Tinder and Bumble, about how much harm is really occurring.

Birobidzhan was planned by the Swiss architect Hannes Meyer, and established in 1931. It became the administrative center of the Jewish Autonomous Oblast in 1934, and town status was granted to it in 1937. The 36,000 km2 of Birobidzhan were approved by the Politburo on March 28, 1928. The Jewish Steppe is a 2001 documentary about a group of Russian Jews who, suffering as a result of prejudice and fearful of pogroms, left their homeland to farm the Crimean Peninsula. Established in the 1920s, their Soviet agrarian commune was destroyed.

 

"Why should the Jewish people go to Palestine where the land is less productive and requires big investments?" a Jewish newspaper asked at the time of the settlement, "Who go so far if the fertile Crimean land is beckoning to the Jewish people?"

At the turn of the twentieth century, antisemitism was common in Russia. Legislation was passed that limited Jews to working only in retail and handicrafts. When these laws were lifted, around the time the Russian Revolution of 1917, pogroms broke out. Approximately 30,000 Jews left for the Crimean Peninsula. Rare pictures and film footage from the Russian State Film and Photo Archive are narrated in The Jewish Steppe to explain how they lived there.

One newspaper wrote that everyone on the steppe was competing with each other to work harder. When, in 1931, famine occurred in Russia, the Jewish settlements continued to have an abundant harvest that helped feed the rest of the nation during its grain shortage.

Two years after it was settled, the area was recognized as the Soviet Union's first Jewish district. They went on to establish schools and two colleges.

"As a result of healthy life and labor," a local farmer commented in a newspaper, "peace of mind is replacing the nervousness typical for Jewish people. Movements have become measured, and faces have become calm." He went on to say that these changes were particularly noticeable in the younger generation.

Under Joseph Stalin, the commune was destroyed, leaving only archival footage and documents.

The Organization for Jewish Colonization in Russia, was a Communist-sponsored mass organization in North America devoted to supporting the settlement of Jews in new collective settlements, firstly in the newly established Ukrainian Soviet Republic and Southern Russia (Stavropol Krai), and latterly in the Jewish socialist republic of Birobidzhan in the Soviet Union. The organization was founded in the United States in 1924 and soon spread to Canada.

>Jewish autonomy in Crimea was a project in the Soviet Union to create an autonomous region for Jews in the Crimean peninsula carried out during the 1920s and 1930s. Following the WWII and the creation of the Jewish Autonomous Oblast in the Far East, the project was abandoned, despite the existence of more than 80 kolkhozes and an attempt to renew the project in 1944 by the Jewish Anti-Fascist Committee.
