Shinzo Abe, Japan's former prime minister, has died after being shot during a speech in western Japan.

 

The country's longest-serving prime minister, Abe was campaigning for a parliamentary election in Nara when he was shot from behind. He arrived at Nara Medical University without any vital signs and was eventually declared deceased.

 

Police in Nara arrested the suspected gunman, who was carrying what appeared to be a handmade, double-barreled weapon.

Report: FBI Is Now Flagging Online Terms “Red Pill”, “Based”, and “Chad” as Extremist Terms

 

The FBI on Monday released new documents that reveal common words used on the internet are being flagged by FBI agents as extremism.

 

The new documents were released by the FBI after the Heritage Foundation’s Oversight Project filed a FOIA request.

 

The documents are titled “Involuntary Celibate Violent Extremism” and in them, they contained a glossary of several words that the FBI claimed were used by “incel” extremists.

 

The terms “red pill”, “Chad”, and “based” were all considered to be extremist rhetoric.

 

The term red pill by definition mean “refers to a process by which a person’s perspective is dramatically transformed” and it became popular after it was used in the 1999 movie the Matrix.

 

‘Chad’ is internet slang for an alpha male and ‘based’ just means to stay true to yourself.

Fresh Missile Attack On US Base At Syria's Conoco Gas Fields

 

A new rocket attack has reportedly taken place against an American military base at the Conoco gas fields in eastern Syria, near the city of Deir ez-Zor on Monday.

 

US occupation forces have been coming under increased pressure and sporadic attacks from likely Iran-backed militant groups. It's also possible that forces linked to the Syrian government are seeking to force the Pentagon out of sovereign Syria territory.

For years US forces have occupied the major oil and gas installations in Syria's east, as part of broader Washington efforts to choke the Assad government into submission. Syria and Iran have remained defiant, however, and could be seeking to impose enough of a cost on US forces so as to pressure Washington and the American public to desire a pull-out from the region.

@KariLake has filed a brief in the AZ Supreme Court opposing the sanctions proposed against her for raising the argument that 35,563 ballots were unaccounted for and added to the total ballots at Runbeck.

Hobbs et al had argued this was a brand new claim (false) and asked for sanctions for that reason. This was filed last week, but I was away so I am threading it now.

Lake attorney’s are asking the court to not only deny sanctions against them, but also to consider the brief they just filed as a motion for reconsideration. Maricopa didn’t ask for sanctions, but the other parties did. In order to request sanctions due to the provisions those parties cite, the court must find (and the lawyers must successfully argue) that they brought claim for an improper motive, or that they pressed issues that aren’t supportable by any legal theory, and for which there is no “colarable legal argument.” Both of those claims are patently false here, and a request for sanctions under these conditions is really meant as some sort of attempted “punishment.”

Back when I was threading and detailing responses, I talked about how government actors are granted presumptions that assume they are acting in good faith. Not so for Runbeck.

Respondents don’t even attempt to show any evidence rebutting the claim, and no one can argue that Lake doesn’t honestly believe that illegal votes and misconduct determined the results of the 2022 election.

This entire argument stems back to CoC issues. If proper Chain of Custody were followed, Maricopa would have known if even one ballot were inserted. They didn’t follow process or law, and Maricopa was unaware of the actual ballot totals.

This is a little confusing, but I will explain. The entire reason that Lake raised this issue in the appeal process was to answer and argument that Hobbs herself raised. It was a counter, so it obviously couldn’t have been a “brand new” claim, as Hobbs asserts.

Hobbs cites two unique forms used in CoC in Maricopa, asserting that because of that process, the county would be aware of anything “injected” or “inserted.”

Unfortunately for them, it was proven they weren’t. They needed Runbeck to tell them what was there, when they should have already known. The defense (Hobbs) presented exhibits at trial. Exhibit 33 was a compilation of forms entitled “MC Incoming Scan Receipts” which is a recording from Runbeck of the number of early ballot packages it scanned for signature verification and counted on its scanners between 11/8 and 11/9. The forms recorded a total of 298,942 early ballot packages.

The next was a compilation of forms called “MC Inbound- Receipt of Delivery.” These are records created at Runbeck documenting ALL early ballots delivered to Runbeck prior to Runbeck scanning the ballots.

Four witnesses, in addition to a county employee, signed these forms for Election Day deliveries after 7 AM on 11/8- verifying the estimated number of ballots delivered to Runbeck.

Hobbs used these exhibits to “prove” that CoC laws were followed and that Maricopa would immediately know if a ballot were added or removed.

Lake stated that she calculated the number of ballots recorded on their forms - dated 11/8-11/9 and noted as “Election Day” and “Election Night”

And…. …the number of ballots recorded on the Receipt of Delivery forms… And used THEIR NUMBERS to prove the discrepancy of 35,563 ballots more scanned than received.

There is no possible argument here for sanctions, or that there weren’t 33,563 MORE ballots scanned than received, and Hobbs own defense exhibit was used to prove it.

For Hobbs to be correct that Maricopa would pick up any of this immediately, they would need to know the exact number of ballots at EVERY stage in the process- which is what the law requires- however, Maricopa ADMITTED that they disregarded that requirement on Election Day because of VOLUME.

They said there were too many ballots for them to follow the process. Even if we accept their excuse that they were just “too busy” to follow the procedure, the result should be at least close.

This is a decision usurping difference in vote totals, again, based off of their own (supposedly perfect and infallible) numbers.

Dalai Lama apologises for asking boy to suck his tongue

 

The Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama apologised on Monday after a video which showed him asking a boy to suck his tongue triggered a backlash on social media.

 

The video, which has gone viral, shows the Dalai Lama, 87, planting a kiss on the boy’s lips as he leaned in to pay his respects.

 

The Buddhist monk is then seen sticking his tongue out as he asked the child to suck it. “Can you suck my tongue,” he is heard asking the young boy in the video.

 

The video is from an event in McLeod Ganj, a suburb of Dharamshala city in northern India, on February 28.

BLM Rioter Let Off With Probation Murders His Infant Son

 

A BLM/Antifa rioter who was let off the hook after attacking a federal courthouse has murdered his defenseless baby son.

 

A violent Black Lives Matter rioter with ties to Antifa who was let off with probation after he besieged a Portland, Oregon federal courthouse and threatened to shoot cops with an AR has now murdered his own infant son and has been sentenced to just 12 and a half years in prison for the homicide.

 

BLM/Antifa rioter Dakota K Means was convicted in federal court for his homicidal threats to law enforcement, which were made as left-wing radicals laid siege to the federal courthouse in Portland, Oregon during 2020’s George Floyd riots, with militants engaging in hand-to-hand combat with the police, attacking them with weapons, and repeatedly attempting to torch the courthouse. Additionally, the radicals attacked local businesses and even the private homes of citizens living in the area.

 

Despite his brazen political violence, Means was let off the hook with probation, a far cry from the sentences handed out to peaceful J6 election integrity protesters, many of whom are still languishing away in federal holding facilities without trials.

 

Now, less than three years after being let off easy by a leftist judge, Dakota Means has been convicted of murdering his infant son in an especially brutal manner, yet he’s only received a 12-and-a-half-year sentence.

 

According to reporter Andy Ngo, who has frequently profiled the violent crimes of BLM/Antifa radicals in and around Portland, which are seemingly endorsed by the local government, Means’ infant son was found to have “had a fractured skull, brain bleeds & broken ribs” when his lifeless body was examined, having been murdered by his own father.

 

“Means was a regular at the riots in 2020,” Ngo reported in a tweet, adding that Means was “even camping out during the day in front of the Justice Center with the #Antifa crew.”

NARA, Japan— A flower bed was completed Friday close to the site where former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was shot dead in Nara City last year that, although part of a previously planned project, will now serve as a de facto memorial to the late politician.

 

The Nara city government had been redeveloping the area around the north side of Kintetsu Railway Co.'s Yamato-Saidaiji Station prior to the shooting, and placing flower beds on sidewalks along the road were part of the project.

 

The actual site of the shooting has become a road as planned and was opened for traffic from Saturday.

Missouri Attorney General Questions Department of Defense on Support of Child Transgenderism

 

A letter from Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey to Secretary of Defense Gen. Lloyd Austin, which was exclusively obtained by Breitbart News, inquires about support for transgender medical interventions among doctors associated with the Department of Defense.

 

“Even as the threats to this country from foreign adversaries worsen, your department is apparently preoccupied with advancing shocking claims that pander to activist crowds,” the letter opens.

 

The letter highlights a recent story that revealed that doctors associated with the Department of Defense advocated for minors to receive so-called “gender-affirming care.” The physicians claimed that children as young as seven “have an inherent ability and right to consent to gender-affirming therapy.”

 

“These gender interventions can cause permanent sterility, worsen mental health, hamper brain development, cause blindness, and even lead to premature mortality,” Attorney General Bailey’s letter reads before going on to question, “How is a seven-year-old supposed to assess all these known side effects and consent?”

 

Bailey also contends that the “Pentagon officials advancing this shocking claim do nothing to advance our nation’s defensive capabilities” before going on to cite prominent national security concerns like our “proxy war with Russia” or the “increasingly bellicose government of Communist China.”

 

But the physicians advocating for children to undergo irreversible medical interventions are doing so “without any evidence,” Bailey charges. “Certainly the Pentagon’s radical views are not shared by other agencies,” the letter points out.

 

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, for example, found that “there is a lack of current evidence-based guidance for the care of children who identify as transgender, particularly regarding the benefits and harms of pubertal suppression, medical affirmation with hormone therapy, and surgical affirmation.”

 

Bailey adds:

 

This recognition that there is no solid clinical evidence supporting gender-transition interventions calls into question whether anybody (much less seven-year-olds) can truly consent to these interventions if they are not informed of this absence of evidence and the serious health consequences.

BBC Complains As Twitter Brands Public Broadcaster ‘Government Funded Media’

 

Britain’s public broadcaster, the BBC, has complained after Twitter slapped its main account with a “government funded media” tag, joining the likes of NPR in America.

 

The British Broadcasting Corporation has formally “objected” to being labelled as “government funded media” on Twitter, writing to the Elon Musk-run social media giant to resolve the situation “as soon as possible” after its main account with over two million followers received the label over the weekend.

 

As Britain’s public broadcaster, the BBC receives most of its funding from a £159 annual television licence fee which every UK resident who watches live television is forced to pay, regardless of whether they watch the BBC or not. Should a resident fail to pay the licence fee, they face criminal fines, the non-payment of which could result in jail time.

 

The BBC has attempted to argue that the label is incorrect because its funding derives from the licence fee, which they claim is technically different from a government tax.

 

In an email to the public broadcaster, Mr Musk wrote: “We are aiming for maximum transparency and accuracy. Linking to ownership and source of funds probably makes sense. I do think media organizations should be self-aware and not falsely claim the complete absence of bias.

 

“All organizations have bias, some obviously much more than others. I should note that I follow BBC News on Twitter because I think it is among the least biased.”

 

Curiously, the Twitter tag was only applied to the main BBC account — which mostly promotes television programming — and not its affiliated accounts that actually focus on news and politics.

 

Although Twitter has applied the “government funded media” tag to America’s National Public Radio (NPR) — which receives some of its funding from taxpayer dollars — Twitter has yet to slap the label on other public broadcasters in Europe, such as Germany’s Deutsche Welle, Italy’s RAI, or France Télévisions, among others.

 

It also appears that the policy is attempting to differentiate between media organisations that receive government funding and those controlled directly by the government, including Chinese propaganda networks such as CGTN, which is currently labelled by Twitter as “China state affiliated media”.

 

Under the Royal Charter, the BBC is guaranteed editorial independence from the government but is mandated to report news in an impartial and unbiased manner.

 

Although the BBC does not appear to align politically with the current Conservative government, it has frequently been accused of holding the metropolitan-liberal bias common among elites in Westminster, having previously banned climate change sceptics from its airwaves as well as allegedly suppressing Eurosceptic views in favour of those who supported the UK remaining in the EU.

 

The public also widely believes that the broadcaster is biased, with a 2019 poll from Norstat finding that nearly two-thirds of Britons thought the BBC was biased. A separate poll from YouGov found that only 44 per cent had faith in journalists at the BBC to be truthful, compared to 48 per cent who did not trust their reporting.

Macron: Europe Should Reduce Reliance on U.S. Dollar, Avoid ‘Following America’ into Conflict with China

 

French President Emmanuel Macron has argued that Europe needs its own “strategic autonomy” from the United States, potentially including its reliance on the dollar and should avoid following America into any conflict with China over Taiwan.

 

On the plane ride back to Paris from a three-day state visit with Chinese dictator Xi Jinping, President Emmanuel Macron once again expressed his desire for Europe to become the world’s “third superpower” and — of course — with France in the leadership position.

 

In an interview with the POLITICO website, Mr Macron, who is a leading proponent of the formation of a fully-fledged EU Army, emphasised the need for “strategic autonomy” for Europe from the whims of Washington. A key element of this for the French president would be ramping up the European defence infrastructure in order to reduce its reliance on American arms manufacturers.

 

More extraordinary, however, was Macron’s comments concerning the use of the dollar as the world reserve currency, saying that Europe should look to reduce its dependence on the “extraterritoriality of the U.S. dollar”. The comments would likely be music to the ears of those in Moscow and Beijing, both of whom have been seeking to undermine the petrodollar.

 

The petrodollar has been the backbone of the global economy since 1973 when U.S. President Richard Nixon made a deal with Saudi Arabia to only trade oil in U.S. dollars, a move that was quickly adopted by the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).

 

Yet, the system has come under increasing threat from the so-called BRICs alliance of emerging economies (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa), which have actively been attempting to convince major oil suppliers and other countries to accept currency besides the dollar. Most recently, China and Brazil signed an agreement to conduct bilateral trade in their own currencies and not the dollar.

 

A main buffer to the collapse of the petrodollar — which could be disastrous for the American economy — has been the fact that the European Union has continued to back it and continue to conduct trades for oil in American currency. However, the bloc has made previous noises about trying to create its own euro version of the petrodollar.

The US Supported a Failed Ukrainian Attack on the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant

 

Ukrainian soldiers tried to cross the Dnieper River on boats

 

The Times of London on Friday published a report detailing a failed Ukrainian attack on the Russian-controlled Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) that took place in October 2022.

 

About 600 Ukrainian special forces soldiers launched the attack from the north bank of the Dnieper River and attempted to cross the water to reach the ZNPP. As the attack was launched, HIMARS rockets provided by the US hit Russian positions on the southern bank of the river near the power plant.

 

When asked by The Times if the US had provided targeting data for the HIMARS before the raid, a Pentagon source said the US provided “time-sensitive” intelligence to Ukrainian special forces. “We do share information with them, but they are responsible for the selection, prioritization, and ultimate decisions to engage threats,” the source said.

 

The dangerous assault on the ZNPP, which is Europe’s largest power plant, failed as the bulk of the Ukrainian soldiers could not cross the river due to Russian fire. A small group of soldiers made it across and engaged in an hours-long firefight on the outskirts of Enerhodar, the town where the plant is located.

 

The raid took place on October 19, and Russian media at the time quoted Russian military officials who said an attack on the ZNPP was thwarted. Lt. Gen. Igor Konashenkov, a spokesman for the Russian Defense Ministry, said the assault involved “37 boats and craft with Ukrainian troops to land the assault force, including 12 heavy and 25 light vessels.”

 

Russia accused Ukraine of attempting other similar attacks on the ZNPP. In September 2022, Russian officials said about 250 Ukrainian troops attempted to land near the plant, but it was thwarted. At the time, inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) were stationed at the ZNPP.

 

Russian forces took the ZNPP in the early days of Russia’s invasion and have controlled it since March 2022. Rafael Grossi, the head of the IAEA, visited the plant last week and warned against attacks on nuclear facilities.

 

“It is very, very important that we agree on the fundamental principle that a nuclear power plant should not be attacked under any circumstances,” he said. “It shouldn’t be used to attack others, likewise. A nuclear accident with radiological consequences will spare no one.”

From a scientific perspective, these experimental steps taken by the Chinese were a stunning success. However, given the damage mRNA vaccines have generated in terms of injuries, disabilities, and deaths, these data raise considerable ethical issues. The COVID States project has shown that 25% of Americans were successful in remaining unvaccinated. This group would have strong objections to mRNA in the food supply, particularly if it was done surreptitiously or with minimal labelling/warnings. Children could be targeted with easily administered oral vaccine dosing or potentially get mRNA through milk at school lunches and other unsupervised meals.

 

For those who have taken one of the COVID-19 vaccines, having milk vaccines as an EUA offering would allow even more loading of the body with synthetic mRNA which has been proven resistant to ribonucleases and may reside permanently in the human body.

 

These observations lead me to conclude that mRNA technology has just entered a whole new, much darker phase of development. Expect more research on and resistance to mRNA in our food supply. The Chinese have just taken the first of what will probably be many more dangerous steps for the world.

Biden Admin Taps Liberal Journalism Institute To Teach Reporters How To Be ‘Balanced and Bias-Free’

 

Poynter Institute came under fire for releasing a "blacklist" of conservative news organizations

 

The Biden administration tapped a liberal journalism academy that once promoted a "blacklist" of conservative outlets to train reporters on how to create "balanced and bias-free" journalism.

 

The Poynter Institute held the training course with reporters as part of a contract with the U.S. Agency for Global Media, according to a federal spending database. The agency, which paid Poynter $23,500 for the course through March 31, oversees Voice of America and other government news outlets.

 

The agency could seemingly use the training. Republicans have accused the organization of whitewashing stories about Iran and engaging in partisan advocacy in favor of President Joe Biden.

 

But Poynter may not be the best choice to teach journalists the art of unbiased and balanced reporting. While the organization bills itself as "nonpartisan," it is funded largely by wealthy Democratic donors George Soros, Pierre Omidyar, Craig Newmark, Bill Gates, and Tim Gill, an LGBT activist whose husband is Biden’s ambassador to Switzerland.

 

In 2019, Poynter released a "blacklist" of conservative news organizations, including the Washington Free Beacon, deemed "unreliable." Poynter retracted the list, called "UnNews," after widespread criticism. Poynter’s fact-checking site, PolitiFact, often displays pro-liberal and anti-conservative bias. A Free Beacon analysis found that of PolitiFact’s fact-checks of politicians, 62 out of 86 targeted Republicans. The site has also retracted numerous fact-checks later deemed inaccurate, including one in 2020 that said the theory that the coronavirus emerged from a lab leak in Wuhan, China, was "inaccurate and ridiculous."

 

In September 2020, Poynter executive Kelly McBride took part in a tabletop exercise held by the liberal Aspen Institute to plot how journalists, social media executives, and others would handle the hypothetical "hack and dump" of First Son Hunter Biden’s emails. The working group advised participants to treat any release of Biden documents with skepticism and to consult with other news organizations and intelligence officials before publishing stories based on the records.

 

Poynter appeared to follow the advice after emails from Hunter Biden’s abandoned laptop appeared in October 2020, when the organization lauded news organizations for ignoring the story. "Hardly any media outlets, except for conservative ones, are giving the story any credence at all," crowed one Poynter writer. McBride, the working group participant, is chair of Poynter’s Craig Newmark Center for Ethics & Leadership. Newmark, a major Joe Biden donor, contributed $5 million to Poynter and millions more to the Aspen Institute.

CIA Director Bill Burns made an unannounced trip to Saudi Arabia this week where he reportedly aired Washington's frustrations over Riyadh's opening to Iran and Syria through mediation brokered by US rivals China and Russia.

 

Speaking on condition of anonymity, a US official confirmed the trip to Al-Monitor. “Director Burns traveled to Saudi Arabia where he met with intelligence counterparts and country leaders on issues of shared interest," the US official said.

 

The official did not disclose the exact day of the trip but said that Burns discussed intelligence cooperation, especially in the area of counterterrorism. The CIA director met the country's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, The Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday.

 

Burns likely threatened to withhold U.S. intelligence on terrorist groups from the Saudis. The CIA could additionally push some of its ISIS assets to make some nasty appearances in Saudi Arabia to then offer 'help' to 'fight terrorism'.

The latest high-profile shooting in the United States happened Monday in Louisville, Kentucky, when at least four people were killed at a downtown bank.

 

The shooting in downtown Louisville is the 15th mass killing of the year in the U.S. in which four or more people were killed other than the perpetrator, according to a database maintained by The Associated Press and USA Today in partnership with Northeastern University. That is the most during the first 100 days of a calendar year since 2009, when 16 incidents had occurred by April 10.

A 15-year-old boy allegedly killed five people and injured two more in a shooting in Raleigh on Oct. 13. The suspect eluded officers for hours before he was cornered in a home and arrested.

Six people were killed and at least 30 wounded when a gunman on a rooftop opened fire on an Independence Day parade on July 4 in the Chicago suburb of Highland Park. A suspect is awaiting trial.

Three people died and 14 people were injured in a shooting June 5 in front of a restaurant. Three people have been arrested.

Three people died and 11 others were injured June 4 on a Philadelphia busy block during a melee that began with a fistfight and was followed by random gunfire. Two men are in custody in two of the deaths; other people have also been arrested in connection with the melee.

A gunman killed his surgeon and three other people at a medical office June 1. The gunman killed himself as police arrived.

 

UVALDE, TEXAS

An 18-year-old gunman killed 19 children and two adults at Robb Elementary School on May 24 in the deadliest school shooting in nearly a decade. More than 15 other people were wounded. Law enforcement killed the attacker.

 

CHICAGO

A shooting killed two people and injured seven others on May 19 just blocks from the Magnificent Mile shopping district. Two men have been charged.

 

LAGUNA WOODS, CALIFORNIA

One person was killed and five others injured May 15 after a man opened fire on Taiwanese parishioners in Southern California. Authorities have said the gunman was motivated by hatred for Taiwan. He has been charged with murder and other counts.

 

BUFFALO, NEW YORK

A white gunman opened fire May 14 at a supermarket in a predominantly Black neighborhood, killing 10 people and injuring others. He has been charged with federal hate crimes that could carry the death penalty if he is convicted.

The feds seized classified documents stored at Mar-a-Lago and thoroughly searched the property after the Justice Department issued Trump a subpoena in May to return so-called classified records.

 

According to a leak to WaPo, Jack Smith has emails and texts from a former Trump aide showing Trump may have rummaged through his boxes of classified documents stored at Mar-a-Lago after he was subpoenaed in May 2022.

 

Bill Barr said of Trump’s classified documents lawfully stored at Mar-a-Lago, “I think he was jerking the government around and they subpoenaed it, and they tried to jawbone him into delivering the documents. But the government is investigating the extent to which games were played and there was obstruction and keeping the documents from them.”

With the volume blaring on The Donald Trump Show, other Republican presidential hopefuls are struggling to make any noise of their own.

In the span of a week, Nikki Haley, former United Nations ambassador, campaigning at the U.S.-Mexico border, complained that “no one is talking about” immigration because of the focus on Trump’s “political drama.” Former Secretary of StateMike Pompeo’s trip to Ukraine was reduced to a blip on the media landscape, while Ron DeSantis avoided the spectacle and insteadrevived his war with Disney.

 

On the same day Trump was indicted in an alleged hush money scheme, the Florida governor wasposing with puppies at a pet adoption eventas his aides instructed reporters to leave.

 

“This is deja vu all over again,” said Terry Sullivan, who ran Marco Rubio’s 2016 campaign for president. “Trump dominates media coverage, making it impossible for his competitors to get any coverage or forward traction.”

 

The Republican presidential primary was always expected to revolve around Trump. But post-indictment, as Republicans rally to his defense — including, crucially, conservative talkers on Fox News — Trump’s opponents are confronting an even more damaging dynamic in race:Their inability to break through at all.

 

“It feels like fucking 2016,” said a Republican strategist who supports DeSantis and was granted anonymity to speak freely about the dynamics of the race. “Is there anything that can suck up asmuch political oxygenin the American political landscape as Trump? I don’t think so.”

 

Far from cable TV’s focus on Trump’s indictment, DeSantis has been plowing ahead with a political operation that resembles the early stages of a presidential campaign. But during the final weeks of Florida’s jam-packed legislation session — the backdrop against which DeSantis is preparing his case for taking his local conservative agenda nationwide — the governor hasn’t gotten a fraction of the attention Trump has. Visiting Long Island recently to promote his record and his book, he was greeted by a number of New Yorkers in MAGA hats and a sign that read “DeSantis 2028,” suggesting he get out of Trump’s way in 2024.

 

One man in the DeSantis-friendly audience repeatedly shouted “Trump!” before being escorted out of the museum where DeSantis spoke. Nearly all of the attendees POLITICO interviewed spoke favorably about DeSantis, but saidthey are already committed to supporting the ex-president’s comeback bid.

 

To Republicans who saw Trump steamroll through the primary in 2016, it’s all beginning to look like a rerun. And largely helpless to do anything about Trump on their own, they have been venting frustrations increasingly at the media.

 

“What’s frustrating to me iswe didn’t learn a damn thing from 2015 and 2016when it comes to just giving him absolute, roadblock media coverage,” said David Kochel, a veteran of six Republican presidential campaigns. “I get it, it’s a big story. But this was getting covered like … the opening of the war in Iraq or the O.J. chase. You couldn’t escape it.”

 

He said upcoming debates, cattle calls and other events during the campaign will “give everybody an equal footing, an opportunity” to drive their own coverage. But for now, he said, there isn’t much any Trump rival can do.

 

“I don’t know that there’s a strategy anybody could employ,” he said. “Maybe try shooting somebody on Fifth Avenue.”

 

Left unsaid was that many of the GOP contenders owe their careers to the man they are now wishcasting away. Mike Pence was Trump’s vice president, Pompeo served as his CIA director and secretary of state and Haley, who had been governor of South Carolina, was elevated as his United Nations ambassador. Trump often laments DeSantis’ disloyalty, saying he was trailing his opponent before Trump endorsed him in 2018.

One GOP Congressional staffer, granted anonymity to describe sensitive discussions about the campaign, said that in the current climate, “everybody” is worried about DeSantis’ chances.Meannwhile a PAC formed to bolster his candidacy has reportedly raised $30 million so far….

South Australia's parliament is doing away with 'gender-specific' terms including 'he', 'she', 'him' and 'her' and will introduce 'gender-neutral' pronouns.

 

The Lower House will adopt the changes as part of its standing orders with even 'His Majesty' King Charles to now be referred to as 'the sovereign'.

 

Instead of saying His or Her Excellency for state Governors such as Frances Adamson, she and all subsequent titleholders will be called 'the governor'.

 

'They', 'their' and 'them' and will replace all gendered pronouns in the rules of procedure while parliamentary committees will no longer have a 'chairman' but be presided over by 'the chair'.

 

The state's Labor government and the Coalition opposition jointly supported the amendments.

 

A spokesperson for the government led by Premier Peter Malinauskas said the change would 'modernise the parliamentary workplace'.

 

'With record numbers of Labor women elected to the parliament, it makes no sense for them to be called 'chairman' when overseeing a committee,' they said.

 

Opposition spokeswoman Michelle Lensink said the changes reflect 'community expectations' while simplifying and updating references 'in line with other jurisdictions across the country'.

 

The modified language comes with a raft of other measures to allow electronic attendance at committee meetings, changes to maternity leave, changes to questions on notice deadlines and removal of redundant standing orders.

 

Despite the changes only applying to the Lower House some of South Australia's Upper House MPs were far from impressed.

 

'Wokeism has even penetrated the workings of parliament,' SA-Best MLC Frank Pangallo said.

The apparent leak of highly sensitive US documents — many of them related to the Ukraine conflict — presents a “very serious” risk to US national security, the Pentagon said Monday.

 

The breach is being investigated by the Justice Department and appears to include secret information on the war in Ukraine as well as sensitive analyses of US allies.

 

The documents circulating online pose “a very serious risk to national security and have the potential to spread disinformation,” Chris Meagher, the assistant to the secretary of defense for public affairs, told journalists.

 

“We’re still investigating how this happened, as well as the scope of the issue. There have been steps to take a closer look at how this type of information is distributed and to whom,” Meagher said.

 

A steady drip of dozens of photographs of documents have been found on Twitter, Telegram, Discord and other sites in recent days, though some may have circulated online for weeks, if not months, before they began to receive media attention last week.

 

Many of them are no longer available on the sites where they first appeared, and the United States is reportedly continuing to work to have them removed.

 

Meagher said US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin was not briefed on the issue until the morning of April 6 — the day a New York Times story on the documents was published.

 

Many of the documents relate to Ukraine, such as one that provides information on the country’s air defenses or another on international efforts to build up its military forces.

 

– US allies, lawmakers informed –

But others point to US surveillance of its allies, such as one that states that leaders of Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency advocated for domestic protests against a controversial judicial reform plan.

 

US officials have been in touch with Washington’s international allies about the issue, and relevant congressional committees have been informed, the Pentagon said.

 

Meagher declined to comment on whether the documents are genuine, saying a Pentagon team is working to make that assessment, but noted that images circulating online seemed to show sensitive information.

 

“Photos appear to show documents similar in format to those used to provide daily updates to our senior leaders on Ukraine and Russia-related operations, as well as other intelligence updates,” he said, but some “appear to have been altered.”

 

This includes a document circulating online that seems to have been altered to make it show that Ukraine had suffered higher casualties than Russia, when the apparent original version said the reverse was true.

 

The fallout from the apparent leak could be significant — even deadly — potentially putting US intelligence sources at risk while giving the country’s foes valuable information.

 

“Disclosure of sensitive classified material can have tremendous implications not only for our national security, but could lead to people losing their lives,” Meagher said.
