Most Democrats agree that the 2001 election was stolen from Al Gore. In 2005, I wrote an award-winning article for Rolling Stone showing how the deceptive use of Diebold voting machines in six Ohio counties constituted massive and consequential election fraud, possibly stealing the victory from John Kerry. In 2016, Hillary Clinton complained that election fraud had derailed her path to victory. And in 2016 and 2020, Bernie Sanders supporters felt that the election had been rigged against their candidate. Many of Donald Trump supporters rightly or wrongly believe that the 2020 election was also stolen.

 

It serves no point to keep arguing over the integrity of past elections. The important thing, that we can all agree on, is the project of implementing an impervious and trustworthy election system.

 

How hard can it be? Los Vegas’s whole gambling industry depends on counting machines that never make mistakes. There are ATM machines on every city corner that never give you more money than you ask for. As a world leader in technology, I am sure we can create a voting system that people can trust.

 

Without 100% transparent and accurate elections, there will always be a fundamental doubt about whether elections actually embody the people’s will. NATO country should back ‘uprising’ in Belarus – retired general

 

Former Polish army commander’s claims were condemned by the Kremlin

 

Poland ought to prepare for an inevitable “uprising” in Minsk and aid the pro-Ukrainian “army” that will back regime changein Russia's ally, retired general Waldemar Skrzypczak has told Polsat TV. Following the comments the Kremlin responded on Wednesday that Warsaw’s hostile behavior will not go unanswered.

 

Appearing on the Tuesday evening newscast, Skrzypczak said he hoped the coming Ukrainian offensive and the “signal” sent by the raid on Russia’s Belgorod Region will “trigger an uprising” in Belarus and maybe even in Russia itself.

 

“Let’s prepare for an uprising in Belarus, because it will happen. The point is that we should not sleep through this moment,”Skrzypczak told Polsat. “We must be ready to support the troops that will carry out the operation against Lukashenko. We have reasons to help them, just as we help Ukraine. The Belarusians will support them against [President Alexander] Lukashenko with enthusiasm.”

 

According to Skrzypczak, Belarus doesn’t have the military capability to prevent such an uprising, while Russia can’t help because “it will have its own problems.” In addition to providing help to the Belarus insurgency, he added, Poland needs to prepare for an “exodus” of refugees from the country.

 

Skrzypczak was Poland’s deputy defense minister for armaments and before that, commander of the country’s land forces. Now retired, he has been a frequent guest of Polish media, commenting on the Ukraine conflict over the past year.

 

Asked about the general’s remarks on Wednesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov condemned Warsaw’s“Russophobic tantrums” and vowed that Moscow will come to the defense of Minsk.

 

“Poland is a state hostile to us, not just unfriendly,” Peskov told reporters. “We see that this state, hostile to us, actually openly talks about its intention to interfere directly, including by force, in the internal affairs of a neighbor – our partner, ally and brotherly state.”

 

Russia, he added, has an obligation to ensure the security of Belarus, “which we will do in the face of such obvious threats.”

 

Poland is currently the hub of NATO efforts to supply Ukraine with weapons, ammunition and equipment to fight against Russia. In the summer of 2020, it was the base for US-backed efforts to overthrow Lukashenko in a “color revolution.” Opposition politician Svetlana Tikhanovskaya has since declared a “government in exile” in nearby Lithuania, seeking US and NATO support.

IRS whistleblower says DOJ 'slow-walked' Hunter Biden tax probe

 

"For a couple years, we'd been noticing these deviations in the investigative process. And I just couldn't, you know, fathom that DOJ might be acting unethically on this," he said.

 

The IRS whistleblower who alleges there has been political interference in the Justice Department's investigation of Hunter Biden will testify to the House Ways and Means Committee behind closed doors on Friday, Just the News has learned.

 

Supervisory Criminal Investigative Agent Gary Shapley will be allowed to talk about the specifics of what has happened in the five-year long investigation of the first son.

 

Before Wednesday, Shapley's name had been protected as part of his whistleblower complaint, but multiple sources confirmed his identity to Just the News and said the agent was planning to do a brief interview with a television network in the next 24 hours.

 

He first approached the IRS internal watchdog last year with the help of whistleblower attorney Mark Zaid.

 

Shapley has alleged that federal prosecutors have engaged in "preferential treatment and politics" to prevent charges from being brought against the president's son. He has further filed a formal complaint with the Office of Special Counsel, contending that he was sidelined from the case after he made protected disclosures and was passed over promotion despite being the most qualified candidate.

 

His current attorneys disclosed to Congress last week that Shapley and his entire team had been formally removed from the case by the Department of Justice in what they described as another act of retaliation.

 

Shapley is represented by former DOJ lawyer Mark Lytle and former congressional investigator Tristan Leavitt, who now serves as president of Empower Oversight. The pair wrote to IRS Commissioner Daniel Werfel earlier this week, calling his attention to a separate communication sent to him by one of Shapley's subordinates, whom the DOJ also removed from the case.

 

In that communication, Shapley's subordinate case agent appeared to indicate that the pair's efforts to call attention to pervasive problems affecting the investigation have gone on for much longer, saying "[f]or the last couple years, my SSA and I have tried to gain the attention of our senior leadership about certain issues prevalent regarding the investigation."

Major Journal Retracts Study On ‘Socially Contagious’ Transgenderism Among Kids Following Activist Threats

 

Springer’s Archives of Sexual Behavior is retracting a study on rapid onset gender dysphoria (ROGD) after transgender activists threatened to stop working with the publication in an open letter; ROGD describes the sudden adoption of a transgender identity by youth, typically in response to peer influence.

The journal claimed the retraction was due to issues with informed consent, but Dr. Michael Bailey, one of the study’s authors, has disputed this explanation and argued the journal is caving to the demands of activists who object to his conclusions about ROGD.

The journal has claimed the retraction is due to researchers’ failure to obtain written informed consent from survey participants, but Dr. Michael Bailey, one of the study’s authors, disputes this explanation and believes the journal is caving to pressure from activists.

 

“These were parents concerned about their children, concerned enough to take a not-brief survey about the issues. Why would they do this if they didn’t think the information would somehow be made available?” Bailey told the DCNF. He shared a screenshot of the survey which told parents explicitly that their answers would be published and used for research.

 

“Thank you for taking the time to complete our survey,” the survey read, according to the screenshot. “Your answers will help us gain a better understanding of which children are more vulnerable to Rapid Onset Gender Dysphoria and what we can do to help them better. We will publish our data on our website when we have a large enough sample to make our results significant.”

 

Rapid onset gender dysphoria (ROGD), a term coined by Dr. Lisa Littman in 2018, describes the surge in youth identifying as transgender without prior histories of gender dysphoria and suggests the phenomenon is driven by social influence. Littman’s initial article was subject to a firestorm of criticism from transgender activists, who demanded the journal PLOS ONE take the unusual step of putting it through a post-publication review.

 

The paper found evidence that youth experiencing ROGD were involved in transgender social media groups and peer groups. It also found that youth with mental health problems were more likely to have socially and medically transitioned than those without.

 

The belief that gender identity is innate and not a mere product of social influence is core to transgender ideology, and it justifies the administration of irreversible medical interventions to alleviate one’s sense of gender incongruence. The ROGD concept challenges the idea that adolescents should undergo biomedical procedures to present as the opposite sex by suggesting many youth who identify as transgender are experiencing a temporary, socially influenced phenomenon rather than expressing a deeply held and permanent gender identity.

 

“There has been an explosion of gender dysphoria among adolescent girls in recent years,” Bailey recently summarized in UnHerd. “Rapid onset gender dysphoria’ (ROGD) suggests that, for poorly understood reasons, adolescent and young adult females are susceptible to a socially contagious false belief that they are transgender. Especially susceptible are girls with pre-existing emotional problems who have been exposed to the ideas that transgender people are common, and that an underlying and unrecognized transgender identity can cause emotional problems only curable by gender transition.”

On Tuesday, a U-Haul crashed into a barricade outside the White House grounds. Immediately, speculation that the driver was a “white supremacist” after a Nazi flag was allegedly pulled from the wreck. In fact, the flag was spread out and displayed for reporters by the FBI agents on the scene. Why did they do that? Someone will have to ask them, but the narrative became a lot more complicated after the driver was identified as Sai Varshith Kandula. Needless to say, he didn’t exactly fit the “white supremacist” profile. Now, in a move that is sure to spark much speculation, the DOJ has suddenly downgraded the charges involved.

Kiev had denied responsibility for the drone incident, while Western media outlets called it a Russian “false flag”

 

One of Ukraine’s military or intelligence special units was “likely” behind the May 3 drone attack in Moscow, the New York Times reported on Wednesday citing anonymous US officials.

 

US intelligence agencies have assessed this based in part on intercepted communications of both Russian and Ukrainian officials, according to the Times. However, they “do not know which unit carried out the attack” andsome officials believe President Vladimir Zelensky may not have been aware or involved. The US reportedly does not have “specific evidence” yet as to which operatives or agency was involved.

 

Two drones went down in the Kremlin airspace earlier this month. Video from surveillance cameras showed one exploding above the roof of the building hosting presidential offices. President Vladimir Putin was not there at the time. Moscow accused Kiev of attempting to assassinate Putin and vowed retaliation. Zelensky – who had just left for a tour of the EU – denied Ukraine had anything to do with it.

 

Major media outlets in the US and the UK quickly accused Moscow of staging a “false flag” incident to make Ukraine look bad.

 

According to US spieswho talked to the Times, however,the Kremlin drone attack was part of a pattern of Ukrainian covert actions, from the August 2021 assassination of journalist Darya Dugina and the killing of blogger Vladlen Tatarsky in April, to Monday’s attack on Belgorod Region. Indeed, the Times had previously reported the US intelligence assessment of Dugina’s killing, as well as the truck-bombing of the Crimea Bridge, in much the same fashion.

 

The Times has also described the September 2022 sabotage of the Nord Stream gas pipelines as the work of “pro-Ukrainian operatives whose ties to the Ukrainian government have yet to be determined,” after journalist Seymour Hersh claimed the US government was behind it.

 

According to the Times, US spies believe there might be “a loose confederation of Ukrainian units” operating inside Russia, maybe “with little, if any, oversight” from Zelensky. They think the Ukrainian president may not even know about some of these covert operations, having “set the broad parameters” for the campaign and left the details to security services, so he can deny everything later.

 

Earlier this month, however, Ukrainian military intelligence (GUR) chief General Kirill Budanov admitted in an interview that Kiev was behind the killing of “many, including public and media personalities,” in Russia, without naming any names. He also said the campaign of assassinations will continue. Zelensky’s top advisers routinely make threats against Russian territory as well, celebrate incidents when they happen, then claim ignorance and innocence.

 

Kiev has pointed to a “shadowy network of Russian partisan groups” in every instance, including Monday’s attack on Belgorod Region that killed one and injured 12 civilians. However, the Times noted that US spies have found “no evidence” these groups are responsible, while some officials are skeptical that they even exist.

 

The Times claimsthese attacks by Kiev have “unnerved” US President Joe Biden, who does not want the conflict to escalate into a direct US-Russia confrontation. US AAA Credit Rating May Be Cut by Fitch on Debt-Limit Impasse

 

Fitch Ratings said it may downgrade US credit ratings to reflect the worsening political standoff that’s preventing a deal to solve the nation’s debt ceiling crisis.

 

“The Rating Watch Negative reflects increased political partisanship that is hindering reaching a resolution to raise or suspend the debt limit despite the fast-approaching X date,” the ratings company said in a statement, referring to the point at which the government runs out of cash.

 

The traditional haven yen spiked as traders reacted to the news before paring gains. Treasury futures saw a modest dip.

 

Economists project a US default could trigger a recession, with widespread job losses and a surge in borrowing costs. Still, it’s not unusual for Congress to strike deals at the last minute when the pressure becomes big enough to force negotiators to make painful choices. “We believe risks have risen that the debt limit will not be raised or suspended before the X-date and consequently that the government could begin to miss payments on some of its obligations,” Fitch said in its statement. The company said it still expected a resolution to the debt limit beforehand. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy expressed optimism Wednesday that White House and GOP negotiators would reach a deal in time to avert a potentially catastrophic default. The California Republican’s comments came after a four-hour meeting between his and President Joe Biden’s hand-picked negotiators, fueling optimism Congress will act before June 1, the date by which Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen has warned the US could run out of money to pay its bills.

US public sours on anti-Russia sanctions

A news poll has shown that fewer Americans favor punishing Moscow over the Ukraine crisis and sending weapons to Kiev

 

American public supportfor President Joe Biden’s policies of sanctioning Russia over the Ukraine crisis and sending billions of dollars’ worth of militaryaid to Kiev is dropping as the bloody conflict drags on into its 16th month, a new poll has revealed.

 

Conducted by the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy and researcher NORC, the poll was released on Wednesday and found that58% of Americans support imposing economic sanctionsagainst Russia,down from 71%a year ago. Just50% of US adults still favor sending weaponsto Ukraine, compared with61% in May 2022.

 

The results come amid growing public doubts as to whether Ukraine can win the conflict and concern that the crisis could escalate into a direct US-Russia war. Republican lawmakers, including SenatorsRand Paul and Mike Lee, have called the conflict a “proxy war”and vowed to vote against any additional aid packages until Biden offers a clear diplomatic strategy to end the fighting.

 

A February poll by Rasmussen Reports showed that only21% of Americans believe Ukraine can prevail against Russia, down from 32% two months earlier. Just26% of US adultsbelieve their governmentshould play a “major role” in the crisis, down from40%in March 2022, the University of Chicago-NORC poll found.

 

Washington has allocated $113 billion in military and economic aid to Kiev, including more than $37 billion in weaponry that has already been provided. Meanwhile, Biden has led an international sanctions campaign against Moscow, seeking to isolate and crush the Russian economy.

 

However, the sanctions have failed to cut off Russian energy exports and have contributed to historically high inflation rates in Western nations. Russia’s current account surplusdoubled to a record $227 billion last year.

 

The new poll found that36% of Americans believe that both Russia and Ukraine have committed war crimes during the conflict, while 54% think Moscow alone is guilty. Seven in ten US adults say Russia’s actions are an “unjustified attempt to gain territory.”

 

Although 77% of US adults have an unfavorable view of Russian President Vladimir Putin,just 17% feel the same way about the Russian people, according to the University of Chicago-NORC study. When I started as a CBer back in the 60's you had to have a license and you could only talk to other people that were not in your business on certain channels. We used our call signs and it was mostly for small business that couldn't afford the money for commercial radios. We had REACT emergency teams on Channel 9 and as an EMT I used CB to coordinate communications with my search & rescue team. CB has changed a lot since them. Now it is a free for all unlicensed mess from what I can tell by listening to it. I went to Ham radio to support my cave rescue team coordination to avoid interference with the crazies on CB. :-)
