Mr Trump’s name has appeared a handful of times previously in the documents and, while not accusing him of wrongdoing, appears to illustrate the good relationship he had with the disgraced financier.

 

In the newly unsealed documents, Ms Ransome testified that her unnamed friend “was one of the many girls that had sexual relations with Donald Trump” – including at Epstein’s New York townhouse.

 

“She confided in me about her casual ‘friendship’ with Donald. Mr Trump definitely seemed to have a thing for her and she told me how he kept going on about how he liked her ‘pert nipples’,” she testified.

 

She then described in graphic detail how Mr Trump allegedly caused pain to the victim’s nipples – and claimed she saw the resulting injury firsthand.

I'm talking about organized protestors who agree to break the law and violate the right to feely travel on the highways and byways.

Anon has spent some time here. As a parent seeing how this plan is playing out I am scared. I am coming to the conclusion that Jesus is the only way out of this mess. Lots of corruption, all the way up, but I've seen the right judgment occur before. If the courts don't handle these trials, then that's what we watch for. If a vigilante wanted to skirt the courts, he should investigate as a functioning court would - not assume guilt prior to investigation with accused's side of the story considered. What's being advanced here, instead, is that anyone who appears guilty must be guilty to the extent that maximal punishment is due. That is what got us into this mess. There are plants, undercover, flips, and degrees of guilt, we (most of we) are not in a position to be judge, jury, executioner - but to use human resources to bring forth information and to raise awareness of what is demonstrably true beyond a shadow of a doubt.

World War I began when Quentin was attending Harvard University. Although the US was neutral at the start of the conflict, Theodore Roosevelt (no longer in the White House) organized a series of summer military training camps for businessmen and university students. When the US finally entered the war, these men were offered commissions as officers based their on performances. Eventually these summer training programs would be legally transformed by Congress into the modern ROTC program.

 

Quentin attended one of these camps and did well despite having to adapt considerably to military life. It was obvious that he was his father’s favorite child. Both Quentin and his father were angered by the sinking of the RMS Lusitania by a German submarine. Although the ship was nominally a civilian passenger liner, it was secretly carrying millions of rounds of ammunition and artillery shells in its cargo hold. 128 American civilians, all just normal commercial passengers on the ship, died during the sinking.

 

The sinking of the Lusitania became a major focus of propaganda efforts to end America’s neutrality in the war. Information that the ship was surreptitiously carrying huge amounts of war material, giving weight to German claims that it was a legitimate military target, was carefully concealed from the public.

 

This incident and other anti-German propaganda narratives (which often involved fake claims of over-the-top atrocities committed against civilians in Belgium) primed the American public for entry into the war. After the Zimmerman telegram, proposing a (wildly unrealistic) alliance between German and Mexico for an attack on the United States, was intercepted by the British, direct US intervention became inevitable.

 

When war was declared, Quentin volunteered immediately. Because of his mechanical skills, he was drawn to the Army’s burgeoning Air Corps (the Air Force did not exist yet). The First World War saw the birth of combat aviation. Although Quentin knew how to fly, he initially served as his unit’s supply officer and helped supervise a training airfield in France. Because combat aviation was so new, pilot training was rushed. The aircraft were very primitive. Technology that enhanced pilot survivability hadn’t even been invented yet. This was due in large part to the steep learning curve. Former NRA Executive Pleads Guilty To Fraud, Agrees to Testify In NY Civil Trial

 

Joshua Powell, former operations director of the National Rifle Association (NRA), has reached a settlement with the New York attorney general’s office over civil claims of fraud and abuse.

 

Mr. Powell was employed by the NRA between 2016 and January 2020.

 

The lawsuit brought by Letitia James, New York attorney general, alleged that Mr. Powell breached his fiduciary duties and failed to administer the charitable assets entrusted to his care by using his powers as an officer and senior executive of the NRA to covert charitable assets for the benefit of himself and his family members.

 

He admitted the alleged wrongdoing and agreed to pay $100,000 to the NRA, to not serve as an officer in a nonprofit or charitable organization, and to testify against the NRA at the demand of Ms. James’s office, according to the settlement.

 

Mr. Powell’s settlement was filed on the same day as the resignation of Wayne LaPierre, the longtime head of the NRA.

 

“Joshua Powell’s admission of wrongdoing and Wayne LaPierre’s resignation confirm what we have alleged for years: the NRA and its senior leaders are financially corrupt,” Ms. James said in a statement. “More than three years ago, my office sued the NRA and its senior management for financial abuse and mismanagement. These are important victories in our case, and we look forward to ensuring the NRA and the defendants face justice for their actions.”

 

NRA officials didn’t respond by press time to a request by The Epoch Times for comment.

 

Ms. James sued Mr. LaPierre and three co-defendants—NRA general counsel John Frazer, retired finance chief Wilson Phillips, and Mr. Powell—in 2020, alleging that they cost the organization tens of millions of dollars from questionable expenditures that included lucrative consulting contracts for ex-employees and gifts for friends and vendors.

 

Mr. LaPierre is accused of setting himself up with a $17 million contract with the NRA if he were to exit the organization and spending NRA money on travel consultants, luxury car services, and private flights for himself and his family—including more than $500,000 on eight trips to the Bahamas over three years.

 

As punishment, Ms. James is asking that Mr. LaPierre and the other defendants be ordered to reimburse the NRA and that they be banned from serving in leadership positions of any charitable organizations conducting business in New York, which would bar them from any NRA involvement.

 

The trial is scheduled to start on Jan. 8.

A formation of seven German airplanes, while crossing the Marne, saw in the neighborhood of Dormans a group of twelve American fighting airplanes and attacked them. A lively air battle began, in which one American (Quentin) in particular persisted in attacking. The principal feature of the battle consisted in an air duel between the American and a German fighting pilot named Sergeant Greper. After a short struggle, Greper succeeded in bringing the brave American just before his gun-sights. After a few shots the plane apparently got out of his control; the American began to fall and struck the ground near the village of Chamery, about ten kilometers north of the Marne.The American flier was killed by two shots through the head. Papers in his pocket showed him to be Quentin Roosevelt, of the United States Army. His effects are being taken care of in order to be sent to his relatives. He was buried by German aviators with military honors. The German pilot who shot down Quentin Roosevelt told me of counting twenty bullet holes in his machine when he landed after the fight. He survived the war but was killed in an accident while engaged in delivering German airplanes to the American Forces under the terms of the Armistice.

 

Although Quentin was initially reported Missing-in-Action, his death was soon reported by another American pilot who had participated in the battle.

 

By sheer happenstance, an American soldier who had been captured during the German offensive was present at the funeral conducted by the German military several days later and recorded what he saw:

 

In a hollow square about the open grave were assembled approximately one thousand German soldiers, standing stiffly in regular lines. They were dressed in field gray uniforms, wore steel helmets, and carried rifles. Near the grave was a smashed plane, and beside it was a small group of officers, one of whom was speaking to the men. I did not pass close enough to hear what he was saying; we were prisoners and did not have the privilege of lingering, even for such an occasion as this. At the time I did not know who was being buried, but the guards informed me later.The funeral certainly was elaborate. I was told afterward by Germans thatthey paid Lieut. Roosevelt such honor not only because he was a gallant aviator, who died fighting bravely against odds,but because he was the son of Colonel Roosevelt whom they esteemed as one of the greatest Americans.

 

Theodore Roosevelt’s enormous popularity with Germans likely owed to his adventures in the American West as a young man. Western novels, particularly those of Mexican-American war hero Thomas Mayne Reid, were extremely popular in Europe at the time and (slightly fictionalized) accounts of Roosevelt’s exploits sold thousands of copies across the globe.

 

A member of the German propaganda ministry took a photo of the crash site, with Quentin’s uncovered body still in view. The photo was briefly sold as a postcard, but this disrespect to a fallen enemy created such a scandal with the German public that these were quickly taken off the market.

Theodore Roosevelt would never recover from Quentin’s death. He slipped into a deep depression and began advocating for very harsh treatment of defeated Germany after the war.He died less than 6 months after Quentin did.

 

The story of Quentin Roosevelt is a great look at a very different era in American and world history. The past is a foreign country. It’s hard to imagine anything like this happening in today, much to our detriment.

Red Cross Announces Emergency Blood Shortage, Calls For Donations

On Monday, the Red Cross declared in a release that it is facing an emergency blood shortage as it is currently encountering the lowest amount of people giving blood over the last 20 years.

 

According to the nonprofit organization based in Washington, D.C., which gathers and distributes roughly 40% of all blood donations made in the United States, the blood shortage is so serious that it is unable to provide an adequate amount of blood to certain hospitals that need it for their patients.

 

The emergency shortage could result in some patients receiving less blood than they require or hospitals may find it difficult to find compatible donors for patients with rarer blood types.

 

The release also stated that hospitals are currently needing blood products, including whole blood, red blood cells, plasma and platelets, quicker than donations are being received.

 

“One of the most distressing situations for a doctor is to have a hospital full of patients and an empty refrigerator without any blood products,” said Dr. Pampee Young, chief medical officer of the Red Cross. “A person needs lifesaving blood every two seconds in our country — and its availability can be the difference between life and death, however, blood is only available thanks to the generosity of those who roll up a sleeve to donate.”

 

As a result, the Red Cross has been forced to restrict distributions of some of the most transfused blood types to hospitals.

 

According to Dr. Eric Gehrie, medical director of the American Red Cross, hospitals without a fully stocked blood bank may postpone procedures, delay transfusions for patients in need, and make it more difficult for patients with rare blood types to find compatible donors.

 

“There is more need for blood at hospitals than we are able to provide at current donation levels and this is an issue that is really … a long-term problem,” Gehrie told the press.

 

Gehrie additionally mentioned that since the COVID-19 pandemic started in January 2020, there has been a significant reduction in blood donors, dropping by 300,000.

 

“To put the numbers in perspective, we need an additional 8,000 donations every week in January in order to meet current hospital needs,” he said.

 

Gehrie announced that there are several possible factors as to why there is a significant fall in blood donation over the past few years. He said that one of these factors may include the pandemic, which resulted in many people staying at home, making it difficult to host blood drives.

 

“In the past, the American Red Cross worked with a lot of businesses and schools who would host blood drives on site and where it was possible for a lot of people to donate blood,” Gehrie stated. “As the way that we learn and work has changed, it’s been harder and harder to attract as many donors to an employer or school-related blood drive.”

 

He added that some donors are sometimes rejected for factors including iron levels, hemoglobin levels or travel restrictions. Those donors may not understand that they may have the opportunity to donate at a future time.

 

Only 3% of age-eligible individuals, or about 6.8 million Americans, donate blood each year, according to the Red Cross.

Bottles of plastic water contain hundreds of thousands of toxic microscopic plastic particles, new research has found.

 

The findings are likely to shock anyone who has swapped from tap to bottled water, believing it was better for their health.

 

Drinking water from a bottle could mean you are contaminating your body with tiny bits of plastic, which scientists fear can accumulate in your vital organs with unknown health implications.

 

Nanoplastics have already been linked to cancer, fertility problems and birth defects.

 

Scientists using the most advanced laser scanning techniques found an average of 240,000 plastic particles in a one-liter bottle of water, compared to 5.5 per one liter of tap water.

 

University of Columbia researchers tested three popular brands of bottled water sold in the United States – and, using lasers, analyzed the plastic particles they contained down to just 100 nanometers in size.

 

The particles – nanoplastics - are much smaller than the microplastics previously detected in bottled water.

 

However, the particles are considered potentially toxic because they are so small that they can enter directly into blood cells and the brain.

 

These microscopic particles carry phthalates — chemicals that make plastics more durable, flexible, and lasting longer.

 

Phthalate exposure is attributed to 100,000 premature deaths in the US each year. The chemicals are known to interfere with hormone production in the body.

 

They are 'linked with developmental, reproductive, brain, immune, and other problems', according to the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences.

 

The highest estimates found 370,000 particles.

 

Nanoplastics had been too difficult to detect using conventional techniques, which could only find microplastics ranging from 5mm down to 1 micrometer – a millionth of a meter, or 1/25,000th of an inch. Nanoplastic particles are less than 1 micrometer across.

 

Groundbreaking research in 2018 found around 300 microplastic particles in a liter of bottled water – but researchers were limited by their measurement techniques at the time.

 

Research is now underway across the world to assess the potentially harmful effects.

 

The team used a new technique called Stimulated Raman Scattering (SRS) microscopy, which was recently invented by one of the paper's co-authors.

 

The method probes bottles with two lasers tuned to make specific molecules resonate, and a computer algorithm determines their origin.

 

The results showed that nanoparticles made up 90 percent of these molecules, and 10 percent were microplastics.

Bloomberg unironically published a long column stating that elections are a threat to democracy. It claimed that 2024 could be “dismal for democracy” because of the shear number of elections. It cartoonishly singles out Tucker Carlson, Kanye west, Vladimir Putin, and “lizard people” as ongoing threats to Democracy.

 

Less than two earlier, Bloomberg published an opinion piece attacking free speech as a threat to Democracy.

PS: True story, I have husband & wife Northern couple friends, that moved to GA in the mid 90s. The wife was pissed and complaining about how dirty and stinky the rental house was to the Landlord. She had paid with rug and house & floor cleaning four times to no avail.
