With a constitutional crisis brewing in Texas and voters nationwide alarmed by the toll of illegal immigration, some of the FBI’s most famous retired executives are issuing a stark warning to Congress that President Joe Biden’s border policies have unleashed an “invasion” of military-aged male foreigners who pose “one of the most pernicious ever” threats to American security.

Ten former FBI executives – some who oversaw the bureau’s intelligence, counterterrorism, criminal and training operations – expressed their alarm in a letter dated Jan. 17 to House Speaker Mike Johnson, Senate Leader Chuck Schumer and the chairmen of the House and Senate committees that preside over the U.S. intelligence and Homeland Security apparatus.

Their language affirms that of both current FBI Director Christopher Wray, who testified the nation’s security lights are “blinking red,” and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, who alleges Biden’s loosening of border security has allowed an “invasion” of America by foreigners with troubling origins and attributes.

“In its modern history the U.S. has never suffered an invasion of the homeland and, yet, one is unfolding now,” the FBI luminaries wrote. “Military aged men from across the globe, many from countries or regions not friendly to the United States, are landing in waves on our soil by the thousands - not by splashing ashore from a ship or parachuting from a plane but rather by foot across a border that has been accurately advertised around the world as largely unprotected with ready access granted.

“It would be difficult to overstate the danger represented by the presence inside our borders of what is comparatively a multi-division army of young single adult males from hostile nations and regions whose background, intent, or allegiance is completely unknown,” they added.

House Speaker Mike Johnson received the letter this week and told Just the News on Thursday it adds to House Republicans’ determination to hold out for a deal that completely closes the border.

“This letter from national security leaders is further confirmation of what we already know: President Biden’s open border policies are increasing the risks of terrorist attacks on U.S. soil,” Johnson said. “An unprecedented threat at this scale requires transformational policy changes immediately to secure the border and end the administration’s mass release of illegals into our country.”

Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., a top Republican on the Senate Homeland Security Committee, said the letter captured the reality of the threat from some of the nation’s most experienced law enforcement veterans of protecting the homeland.

"This sobering letter from former FBI, Homeland Security, and other law enforcement officials describes the chilling reality of why @POTUS’s open border is a clear and present danger to America,” Sen. Johnson wrote on X.

The former FBI executives who signed the letter have more than 250 years of combined experience in the bureau’s intelligence, counterterrorism, and criminal operations and served under seven former presidents and four different FBI directors. They included:

Kevin Brock, the former assistant director of intelligence and former principal principal deputy director of the National Counterterrorism Center;

Chris Swecker, the former assistant director of the criminal division;

David Szady, former assistant director of counterintelligence;

Timothy J. Healy, the former director of the Terrorist Screening Center;

Former Executive Assistant Director Ruben Garcia;

Mark Morgan, former assistant director for training and the former acting commissioner of Homeland Security’s Customs and Border Protection;

William Gavin, retired assistant director for the Inspection Division;

Timothy McNally, former assistant director of the Los Angeles division;

Retired Special Agent David Mitchell, who oversaw the FBI operations in Milwaukee;

Special Agent Jody Weiss, who oversaw FBI operations in Philadelphia.…

Brock, who helped organize the letter, said it reflected the warnings and alarm of a much larger body of the current and retired FBI community.

"We limited the letter to ten signers due to its urgency but it reflects the sentiments of many more former FBI Agents and executives who expressed to us a shared deep concern about this particular threat to the nation,” Brock told Just the News. “We are by no means the first to articulate unease about the surge of military aged men from hostile regions and countries coming across the border.

“But we felt our collective voice, which sits atop mounds of experience combatting threats to the nation, might help draw the greater attention that this specific danger deserves and increase momentum to actually do something about it. The FBI and its federal and state partners can identify and find these individuals. They are good at that. Give them the priority orders to do so,” he said.

The FBI luminaries signaled in their letter that their motives weren’t political, but rather driven by the fact that their experience fighting hostile foreign threats had led them to believe the current border crisis was one of the most dangerous they had ever seen.

“As former senior executives of the Federal Bureau of Investigation with deep experience combatting dangers to the nation, we write to express our concern about a current, specific threat that may be one of the most pernicious ever to menace the United States,” their letter stated.

“The danger arises from the nature of the threat itself,” it added. “Wars and espionage and bombings and riots are sadly familiar delivery systems of instability, intimidation, and insecurity. The country has faced these and more throughout its history and has held together, though not without struggle.”

The magnitude of the country’s border insecurity, however, poses much greater dangers, they added.

“Any violation of the nation's immigration laws increases risks, but the surge in numbers of single military-aged males descending upon American cities and towns is alarming and perilous,” they wrote.

“Additionally, they are not just from terror-linked regions, but from China and Russia as well as hostile adversaries of the U.S. with aspirations to devastate national infrastructure.”

Morgan, who spent two decades in the FBI before becoming the head of the U.S. border protection agency under Presidents Barack Obama and Donald Trump, said the letter’s timing was important as Texas fights with the Biden administration over the right to close the border with its own state resources and Congress mulls a border security package.

“They made the case exactly what we've been saying for a very long time, that border security is synonymous with national security,” Morgan told the "Just the News, No Noise" television show on Wednesday. “And right now, because of this administration's open border policies, they are jeopardizing every aspect of our nation's national security.

“So I happily signed on, and I hope it's gonna raise some eyebrows on Capitol Hill,” Morgan added.

Governor of Texas Greg Abbott received the Friends of Zion award on a recent visit to Jerusalem. The award by the Friends of Zion Heritage Center is given to world leaders for exemplary support of the State of Israel and the Jewish people. Abbott has served as the governor of Texas since January 2015.

"There are strong relations between Texas and Israel. Anybody who is an enemy of Israel is an enemy of Texas. Whenever anybody threatens Israel, we come side by side with Israel to support Israel in any way we can," said Abbottat the ceremony.

An anti-boycott law was signed by Abbott on Israel's Independence Day in 2017 to limit groups from divesting and sanctioning Israel. Texas was the 18th state to condemn and officially stand against the Boycott, Divest and Sanctions (BDS) movement.

Abbott has visited Israel twice since taking officeto discuss economic trade missions and has advocated for Israel on social media.

Other leaders who have received the Friends of Zion award include US Presidents George W. Bush and Donald Trump.

An online institution and an educational platform will work to educate people worldwide to fight antisemitism and advocate for Israel.

Christopher Martin Bulbrook granted bail after being charged with more than 100 child sex offences

A man facing more than 100 child sex offences dating back decades has been granted bail.

Christopher Martin Bulbrook, 63, faced Brisbane's Magistrate Court on Friday.

The police prosecutor told the court Mr Bulbrook was in a "position of trust and authority" when he allegedly sexually assaulted several girls, one as young as eight-years-old.

"Some of [the alleged offences] which, if he was charged with today's legislation today, would be classified as rape charges," she said.

Detectives from Brisbane City Child Protection Investigation Unit (CPIU) arrested Mr Bulbrook on Thursday as part of Operation Victor Dialect.

He was charged with 96 counts of indecent treatment of girls under 16, eight counts of indecent assault on females, and one count of indecent assault.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has opened an investigation into the Texas Bar Foundation for its possibly aiding and abetting the mass influx of illegal aliens. The investigation is based on credible complaints filed by U.S. Congressman Troy Nehls (TX-22) and members of the public.

The Texas Bar Foundation is alleged to have knowingly given donations to entities that encourage, participate in, and fund illegal immigration at the Texas-Mexico border, and potentially using taxpayer dollars received from the State Bar of Texas, which appoints the Foundation’s trustees. If true, this is likely an improper use of charitable funds because the funds are diverted from their intended—and potentially unlawful—purpose.

The Attorney General is granted broad powers under the Texas Constitution and by statute to investigate charities to ensure they are operating for the public benefit and in compliance with state law.

“Unfortunately, at the very time that our state is facing an unprecedented border crisis and our brave men and women are serving Texas in Operation Lone Star, it appears that the liberal State Bar’s handpicked cronies are misusing charitable funds to make the situation even worse,” stated Attorney General Paxton, “I will not let this illegal behavior continue any further. Thank you to Congressman Nehls and other concerned citizens for bringing this to my attention.”

Catholic immigrant advocates reject claims of facilitating illegal crossings

NEW YORK – Immigrant advocacy organizations in Texas say they have not yet been contacted by state Attorney General Ken Paxton after he pledged to launch an investigation this week, at the request of the governor, into the alleged role of non-governmental organizations in illegal border crossings.

Joan Rosenhauer, the executive director of Jesuit Refugee Service, said in a statement to Crux that “accusations like this can create a false narrative, which can be damaging, about the work NGOs are doing at the border and ultimately cause harm to asylum-seekers and organizations serving them.”

The same day Abbott called for an investigation, Catholic Charities USA received a letter from four House representatives requiring it to “preserve all information related to any expenditures submitted for reimbursement from the federal government related to migrants encountered at the southern border.”

The letter is signed by Republican House representatives Lance Gooden of Texas, Tom Tiffany of Wisconsin, Jake Ellzey of Texas, and Andy Biggs of Arizona.

They allege in the letter that border NGOs “profit off of exploiting [U.S.] immigration laws,” and fuel the rise of migrants crossing the border.

Catholic Charities USA denied the allegations.

The months-long surge of illegal immigrants on America's southern border has gone beyond crisis mode, and Catholic Charities has been at the center of it.

Church Militant's Kristine Christlieb briefs us on how the Catholic nonprofit may be profiting illegally from the migration catastrophe.

As Church Militant and the Lepanto Institute have been reporting for years, illegal immigration is a cash cow for nonprofit giant Catholic Charities.

Four Republican members of Congress plus the state of Texas are hot on the charity's trail, both claiming some of its immigration activities may be illegal.

Wednesday, in a letter addressed to the organization's Virginia headquarters, Congressmen Lance Gooden and Jake Ellzey of Texas, Andy Biggs of Arizona and Tom Tiffany of Wisconsin ordered the charity to "preserve all information related to any expenditures submitted for reimbursement from the federal government related to migrants encountered at the southern border."

The Congressmen promise an investigation, saying, "Catholic Charities is violating federal law and regulations, placing migrants and American communities at risk, and subjecting local communities to unreasonable burdens."

“The Biden Administration bears the responsibility for the accompanying rise in crime, cartel activity, and lethal drugs like fentanyl flooding into communities throughout our nation,” Paxton said. “Some non-governmental organizations (NGOs) may be aiding and abetting this invasion.”

"The United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) said on Friday it had opened an investigation into several employees suspected of involvement in the October 7 attacks in Israel by Hamas and that it had severed ties with those staff members.

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (WCAX) - Law enforcement officials are sounding the alarm as recent data shows an unprecedented increase in the number of illegal border crossings along the northern border.

“We continue to urge anyone looking to enter the United States to do so legally,” said Raymond Bresnahan of U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

A plea from North Country law enforcement officials as an influx of migrants continues to enter the U.S. along the northern border.

Bresnahan is the lead patrol agent at the Champlain Border Station which is part of the Swanton sector, an area that covers 295 miles along the border. He says in 2023, border patrol agents apprehended roughly 7,000 people, a nearly 500% annual increase. A large number of people he says are looking for a better life. . .

However, he says the increase in illegal crossings makes it more difficult for law enforcement to find people who are actually crossing for nefarious reasons.

“There still are a lot of bad actors mixed in with them. We still see aggravated felons, we still catch a lot of bad people,” Bresnahan said. . . ”
