World Bank loses track of $41 billion handed out for 'climate' ideologies

 

Audit confirms officials can't identify either the recipients or the use of the enormous sum

 

Up to $41 billion of the funds distributed to climate causes by the World Bank between 2017 and 2023 are unaccounted for due to poor accounting standards, according to an audit from Oxfam International published Thursday.

 

The enormous sum represents almost 40% of the climate funds the Bank disbursed during the seven year time period, with World Bank data failing to show the recipients and uses of the money, the Oxfam investigation found.

 

"The Bank is quick to brag about its climate finance billions — but these numbers are based on what it plans to spend, not on what it actually spends once a project gets rolling," Kate Donald, head of Oxfam International's Washington D.C. Office, said in the release. "This is like asking your doctor to assess your diet only by looking at your grocery list, without ever checking what actually ends up in your fridge."

 

The auditors were unable to determine whether the climate cash was spent "on climate-related initiatives intended to help low- and middle-income countries protect people from the impacts of the climate crisis and invest in clean energy," according to Oxfam.

 

The World Bank is the largest provider of environmental funding of all multi-national financial institutions, Oxfam reported, and plans to allocate 45% of its annual financing to green initiatives between July 1, 2024, and June 20, 2025. The U.S. is the largest shareholder in the Bank, holding over 15% of its voting shares as of May 31.

 

"Climate finance is scarce, and yes, we know it's hard to deliver. But not tracking how or where the money actually gets spent? That's not just some bureaucratic oversight — it's a fundamental breach of trust that risks derailing the progress we need to make at COP this year," Donald said in the release.

 

The World Bank's poor record-keeping practices made performing the audit "painstaking and difficult," Oxfam reported.

 

"We had to sift through layers of complex and incomplete reports, and even then, the data was full of gaps and inconsistencies," Donald said in the release. "The fact that this information is so hard to access and understand is alarming —it shouldn't take a team of professional researchers to figure out how billions of dollars meant for climate action are being spent. This should be transparent and accessible to everyone, most importantly communities who are meant to benefit from climate finance."

 

Oxfam and the World Bank did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

A breaking Axios report suggests their authenticity: "U.S. officials are extremely concerned about a potentially major security breach after two alleged U.S. intelligence documents about Israel's preparations for an attack on Iran were published by a Telegram account affiliated with Iran," Barak Ravid, who maintains close Israeli military and intelligence sources, writes.

 

The documents include one which was reportedly authored by the Department of Defense National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA), dubbed a "Visual Intelligence" report and distributed among the US intelligence community (IC) earlier this week, and dated to Oct.14-16.

 

Neither the Pentagon nor NGA have offered official confirmation or comment, nor are they likely to. The documents first appeared on a pro-Iran Telegram channel. Axios has identified the channel name as "Middle East Spectator".

 

The docs first appeared online Friday, but the Axios report has strongly pointed to the authenticity of leak.

 

The region has remained on edge as Israel prepares to retaliate against Iran for its Oct.1st ballistic missile attack which saw some 200 projectiles pummel various sites in central Israel, some of which were said to be Iranian hypersonics. Axios has noted that "The leak could be an attempt to disrupt the Israeli operation."

 

A US official told Axios that the alleged leak is "extremely concerning" - again implying authenticity. The leak is also being described as potential very serious breach within the US intelligence community.

A major leak of US classified documents has appeared online Saturday… or we should qualify alleged leaks of at least two TOP SECRET documents, with both marked NOFORN - which is among the highest classifications - given it indicates the specific intelligence cannot be shared with allied foreign intelligence agencies.

 

A breaking Axios report suggests their authenticity: "U.S. officials are extremely concerned about a potentially major security breach after two alleged U.S. intelligence documents about Israel's preparations for an attack on Iran were published by a Telegram account affiliated with Iran," Barak Ravid, who maintains close Israeli military and intelligence sources, writes.

 

The documents include one which was reportedly authored by the Department of Defense National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA), dubbed a "Visual Intelligence" report and distributed among the US intelligence community (IC) earlier this week, and dated to Oct.14-16.

 

Neither the Pentagon nor NGA have offered official confirmation or comment, nor are they likely to. The documents first appeared on a pro-Iran Telegram channel. Axios has identified the channel name as "Middle East Spectator".

 

The docs first appeared online Friday, but the Axios report has strongly pointed to the authenticity of leak.

 

The region has remained on edge as Israel prepares to retaliate against Iran for its Oct.1st ballistic missile attack which saw some 200 projectiles pummel various sites in central Israel, some of which were said to be Iranian hypersonics. Axios has noted that "The leak could be an attempt to disrupt the Israeli operation."

 

A US official told Axios that the alleged leak is "extremely concerning" - again implying authenticity. The leak is also being described as potential very serious breach within the US intelligence community.

I can see where you are going here, as it would be a conflict of interest for anyone, say, on a city council, to vote to award a contract to a firm that one of the members has a direct financial stake in.

 

Unfortunately, I would not want to take away a vote from a senior citizen or a chronically ill person because they have no other options but be on welfare to survive. Figuring out the exceptions to an "on welfare = no vote" policy would be too complicated to manage.

 

I was in the group of the first 18-year-olds who got to vote. Thinking back, I think that was a mistake. I am for raising the minimum voting age to 21 again, except for active duty military. If you are signed up to risk your life for your country, I say you should have a vote for National Command Authority. Otherwise, young skulls of mush can be too easily swayed.

 

Back to the original proposal, I have also thought there was merit to the idea that a person needed to actually pay taxes to a government unit in order to have a say in how those taxes are spent. This would even disqualify those who game the system with massive deductions to pay no taxes. Obviously, that would never fly, because those who benefit most from loopholes in the tax code would not want their votes taken away, either.

 

I don't want to go down the slippery slope of disenfranchising groups of people again, except for non-citizens and illegals. They should never get a vote, even if they do manage to pay taxes.

Senior American officials voiced serious concern on Saturday following the leak of two US intelligence documents allegedly outlining Israel’s preparations for a potential strike on Iran. These documents were published by a Telegram account linked to Iran.

 

While both the US Department of Defense and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence declined to comment on the leaked documents, they did not deny their authenticity.

 

The timing of the leak comes as Israel is completing preparations for a retaliatory strike on Iran in response to the October 1 missile attack. An unnamed senior Israeli official remarked, “Israel’s defense establishment is aware of the leak and takes it very seriously.”

 

The leak occurred on Friday when the Middle East Spectator Telegram channel claimed it had received documents about Israel’s strike preparations from a source within the US intelligence community. This Telegram channel is known for publishing pro-Iranian propaganda, and its associated Twitter account states that its operators are based in Iran.

 

The documents included an alleged report from the US Department of Defense's visual intelligence agency, which had been circulated within the US intelligence community three days earlier. The report detailed alleged recent actions at Israel Air Force (IAF) bases, including the movement of advanced munitions believed to be intended for a strike on Iran. The report also noted that intelligence obtained through wiretaps indicated that the IAF conducted an exercise this week involving fighter jets and drones as part of its strike preparations.

A breach in security

 

The leaked documents reportedly revealed close surveillance by US intelligence on Israel’s preparations for a strike on Iran, including the use of satellites to monitor activities at Israeli Air Force bases. New York state troopers have been deployed to help clean up a crime-infested seedy strip in Queens, part of which encompasses "defund the police" advocate Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s district, where prostitution, illegal vendors and robberies are rampant.

 

Some residents compare it to a Third World country.

 

The troopers arrived as part of a multi-agency crackdown spearheaded by embattled New York City Mayor Eric Adams called "Operation Restore Roosevelt," which aims to crack down on miscreant behavior over the next 90 days and bring back law and order to the commercial strip, which one Democratic politician described as "having more brothels than bodegas."

 

The operation covers a nearly two-mile stretch along Roosevelt Avenue in the migrant-heavy neighborhoods of Elmhurst, North Corona and Jackson Heights, which has become known as a red-light district where those described as scantily dressed migrant prostitutes solicit sex during all hours of the day and night.

 

Illegal street vendors clog the sidewalks to cook hot food in the open as other vendors push everything from used clothes to pots and pans or tools.

 

Last month, Fox News Digital cameras recorded a line of no less than 19 alleged sex workers on a sidewalk on one block along Roosevelt Avenue. Around the corner, there were at least seven more, and a woman on the next block was witnessed offering sex for $60. Fox News Digital even recorded an alleged sex worker and her client emerging from a well-known brothel that was raided the night before and raided again just last week.

 

Known to locals as the "Avenue of the Sweethearts," the area has become an epicenter of vice, and parents have raised the alarm about sex workers operating in the open near schools and local taekwondo centers.

 

"We will end sex trafficking in this area. We are not here for one day and go away. We're here for the problem to go away," Adams said at a press conference late Tuesday announcing the strategy while flanked by top NYPD brass, including NYPD Deputy Commissioner of Operations Kaz Daughtry. Council Member Francisco Moya, a Democrat, also attended.

 

Adams said the beefed-up presence will consist of nine lieutenants, 42 sergeants and 176 police officers who bring together more than a dozen city agencies with state troopers.

 

Residents have been calling for the area to be cleaned up for years. Brothel raids attended by Adams in January seemed to have little impact on the dire situation, and residents told Fox News Digital this summer was worse than ever.

 

Earlier on Tuesday, a large gathering of around 200 NYPD officers and state troopers gathered at Roosevelt Avenue near 83rd and 84th streets, according to Democratic politician Hiram Monserrate, who describes the area as an "urban crime zone." He said about 50 state troopers were in attendance. A spokesperson for the New York State Police did not say how many troopers were deployed Tuesday but told Fox News Digital the day-to-day numbers throughout the operation will fluctuate.

 

The boots on the ground were welcomed by Monserrate, who last week told Fox News Digital he had urged Gov. Kathy Hochul to intervene. He said the troop deployment was a victory for grassroots groups of citizens who have held countless rallies advocating for change.

 

"Today, true leadership stood up and began the process of taking Roosevelt Avenue back from the street gangs, cartels, human traffickers, street walkers and other criminal operations," Monserrate said in a statement. "We support our police, and the community is looking forward to seeing positive results. We need public safety and quality of life returned… and we will remain vigilant."

 

Monserrate, a former New York state senator and council member, said the police patrol in the area had been slashed by around one-third in recent years, which partly led to the area becoming a haven for crimes.
