WASHINGTON — A team of federal prosecutors led by special counsel Jack Smith said in a filing Wednesday that Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump bears responsibility for the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

In a filing responding to Trump's attempt to dismiss the case, Smith's team said it "is incorrect" for Trump's team to assert that the superseding indictment returned against Trump in August does not show that Trump bears responsibility for the events of Jan. 6.

Trump, Smith's team said, "willfully caused others" to obstruct the certification of President Joe Biden's 2020 election victory by repeating his false claims of election fraud and giving "false hope" to his supporters who believed that then-Vice President Mike Pence might overturn the election, and by "pressuring" Pence and legislators to accept fraudulent certificates as part of the fake electors scheme.

"Those allegations link the defendant’s actions on January 6 directly to his efforts to corruptly obstruct the certification proceeding," Smith's team wrote.

Special counsel Jack Smith speaks about an unsealed indictment against Trump.

"Contrary to the defendant’s claim … that he bears no factual or legal responsibility for the 'events on January 6,' the superseding indictment plainly alleges that the defendant willfully caused his supporters to obstruct and attempt to obstruct the proceeding by summoning them to Washington, D.C., and then directing them to march to the Capitol to pressure the Vice President and legislators to reject the legitimate certificates and instead rely on the fraudulent electoral certificates," Smith's team wrote.

Trump’s lawyers previously argued the indictment “stretches generally applicable statutes beyond their breaking point based on false claims that President Trump is somehow responsible for events at the Capitol on January 6, 2021,” and sought to “assign blame for events President Trump did not control and took action to protect against.”

The indictment alleged that Trump exploited the violence and chaos at the Capitol, and in a recent filing Smith’s team said that Trump — when he heard that Pence had to be rushed to a secure location shortly after Trump attacked him on Twitter — responded by saying, “So what?”

Smith and Trump's lawyers have continued to exchange legal filings in the case with less than three weeks left until Election Day, when Trump will hope to return to power after his 2020 loss. He has denied wrongdoing in the case and asserted the indictment was politically fueled.

The latest filing comes after the Supreme Court's decision on presidential immunity gutted part of Smith's case against Trump. The superseding indictment returned by a federal grand jury alleged that Trump knowingly spread lies about the 2020 election that were "unsupported, objectively unreasonable, and ever-changing" in his bid to overturn his loss and remain in power.

Smith's team said Trump's dismissal filing "fails to identify any pleading flaw in the superseding indictment warranting its dismissal" and his motion "ignores entirely that the case against him includes allegations that he and his co-conspirators sought to create and use false evidence — fraudulent electoral certificates — as a means of obstructing the certification proceeding."

Smith's team said in a filing earlier this month that Trump "resorted to crimes" to stay in office after his loss and that he was fundamentally acting as a private candidate for office, not as president, when he engaged in much of the conduct at the heart of their case.

Judge Tanya Chutkan, who is overseeing the case, gave Trump's team an extension that moved the due date of a filing until after the election. Trump's motion to dismiss based on his claims of presidential immunity is now due Nov. 7, while the government's reply is due on Nov. 21. Whether the case ultimately goes to trial depends on the outcome of the election.

‘Unspeakable anger’ in US over Ukraine aid – Republican

There is no money to help Americans but always billions for Kiev, Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene has said

Americans are furious with the current administration because it has sent billions to Ukraine while treating its own citizens worse than dirt, Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene has said.

Speaking at a campaign rally in Atlanta on Wednesday evening, the Georgia Republican contrasted the response by President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris to disasters affecting Americans with their eagerness to funnel cash to Kiev.

“Lahaina. East Palestine. Western North Carolina,” Greene named the locations of catastrophic wildfires, a toxic train derailment, and flooding caused by Hurricane Helene.

“There is anger in this country that is unspeakable, over how the Biden-Harris administration has thrown away these Americans as if their lives do not matter. As if their tax dollars never mattered. And treated them so that they’re only worth 750 measly bucks,” she said.

“Oh, but Congress will write that check for $60 billion over and over again for Ukraine. Won’t they?” Greene added. US lawmakers have approved almost $180 billion in Ukraine aid since 2022. Greene has repeatedly voted against these spending packages.

Hurricane Helene caused widespread flooding in western Georgia and the Carolinas, devastating scores of mountain communities. Entire towns have been washed away, basic utilities still have to be restored in places, and nearly 100 people remain missing. Washington has responded by promising the Americans affected $750 in financial aid, so long as they file the proper paperwork.

“Let me tell you what is happening across this country. People are taking that anger, how fed up and disgusted they are with our stupid government, that treats Americans like Americans are nothing,” Greene told the crowd in Atlanta. “I hope you are as pissed off and fed up as I am. It’s about time. You should be.”

While the US presidential and congressional elections are scheduled for November 5, early voting has already begun in Georgia and several other states. Greene urged people to go to the polls and express their anger and frustration by voting against the Democrats currently in power.

“This election is not white versus black, left versus right, man versus woman, or rich versus poor,” Greene told the crowd. “It is the federal government versus you.”

She also accused the legacy media outlets of being biased in favor of the current government and treating Americans as if they were stupid.

“Don’t tell these people right here what they should think, what they should feel, and what they should do,” Greene said. “They’re sick and tired of you.”

What is described as an "Urgent warning over intense solar storms strong enough to cripple the world's internet for WEEKS" from NASA , which says we've hit the explosive peak in the sun's 11-year cycle.

Scientists have confirmed that solar maximum has officially arrived, and it could continue for the next 12 months. So while opportunities to see the aurora will ramp up, so too will the chance of a global internet blackout.

This sudden burst of talk about the Internet being "down" for weeks, is, to many observers, seeding a narrative: placing an excuse in the public mind, in advance, to cover-up what they're actually PLANNING to do.

It is VERY interesting this warning is focused on Internet outage… Not on Power outages that would have a worse outcome than just internet.

So… this is preparation for something that takes just the Internet out, not the rest of our vulnerable electric stuff?

Many people believe they are putting out these notices to "prime" the public for the Internet being taken down to stop the flow of information.

So what is it that they may want to stop the flow of information about? World War 3, maybe? Who actually caused it? Who is actually responsible? And, of course, to shut down any flow about what should be done with such people.

Or maybe they want communications stopped so no one can sound the alarm that they're ROUNDING PEOPLE UP and putting them in camps? Or maybe they don't want anyone to sound the alarm THEY'RE GOING HOUSE TO HOUSE TO SEIZE GUNS?

If the Internet goes down, the phones and faxes connected to the Internet by VoIP all go down too! Also, the CELLULAR system makes use of Internet to route cell calls from tower to tower. Cellular service could still have signal, but no way for the cell tower to actually connect the calls!

MAKE CERTAIN you are prepared with a CB or HAM radio (with antennas) that you can use for local communication. If they take down the net, and the net takes down the phones and Cellphones, that means phones, faxes, and emails are all gone. You'd have NO COMMUNICATION with anyone.

At least if you have a CB in the house, with a small antenna on the roof, you can talk to others 3-5 miles away. If you also put a CB in your family cars, you can talk to family as they are out-and-about doing what they need to do.

But if you do nothing, then you will be S.O.L. when this situation is foist upon all of us.

They're telling us these things for a reason. They don't expect anyone to stop and realize the Internet has not been fried by a sunspot since its widespread inception in the 1990's. There have been other Solar Maximums since then without a global outage, but you're not supposed to stop and realize that when they intentionally pull the plug NOW.

Get prepared with communications gear. DON'T WAIT.

A little Cobra CB radio with AM//SSB is relatively cheap for your car(s). A Wilson 1,000 mobile antenna with magnet mount (no drilling) or trunk lip mount (no drilling) is also cheap - and VERY reliable. I use this antenna on my truck!

For the house, you can take a CB out of the car, hook it up to a 12 volt power supply or even a car battery, and run it in the house. For a home antenna, you can grab a small antenna for $39 - $60 but you also need coaxial cable to run from the CB in the house, to the antenna outside.

DON'T WAIT. Get something now because they're not saying this crap about the Internet being down for weeks or months, for no reason. There's skullduggery afoot. Prepare!!!!

MY COMMENT: Me and my family have a SURVIVAL PROTOCOL. If the internet AND/OR power grid ever goes down, longer than 8 hours, you need to "HUNKER IN THE BUNKER" meaning it is SHTF time, and be ready to defend yourself, private property AND essential assets!!!! No if/and/but, it is grid down time, be ready for the worst!!! That said, yes, have EVERYTHING YOU NEED in advance before hand. BREAKING: The RNC has filed a lawsuit against election officials in Detroit, Michigan, for deleting surveillance footage of ballot drop boxes when asked to provide it.

They want the court to issue a Writ of Mandamus, forcing them to retain footage of the 2024 election.

“Deleting drop box surveillance footage while there is a pending FOIA request for it is an assault on transparency. This breach of trust is exactly what reduces confidence in our elections. We will hold Detroit accountable, as this secrecy has no place in a fair and secure election – Michiganders deserve far better.” - RNC Chair Whatley

The footage in question is from the primary election that took place in August. The officials were legally required to preserve the footage, but they deleted it upon receiving the FOIA request.

This lawsuit is more important than realized at face value. By obtaining a court order BEFORE the 2024 election to force officials to preserve footage, the RNC is creating legal jeopardy for any officials that DO delete footage. It also means the Democrat officials can't invoke the argument of latches to dismiss any future lawsuit about the footage.
