How the System is Rigged: The Federal Reserve as an Engine of Wealth Extraction

The Federal Reserve, created in 1913, claims to be a stabilizing force in the U.S. economy. However, beneath this mission lies a powerful machine for wealth extraction that consistently benefits financial elites over ordinary Americans. The Fed’s unique public-private structure grants Wall Street banks like JPMorgan Chase and Wells Fargo direct involvement in the Federal Reserve system, allowing them to profit regardless of economic conditions.

Commercial banks holding stock in the 12 regional Federal Reserve Banks receive an annual, risk-free dividend of 6%—a guaranteed payout established by the Federal Reserve Act of 1913 [1]. These dividends and decision-making influence mean banks gain from Fed policies, even as these policies widen wealth gaps and strain the public. Nowhere is this more apparent than at the New York Federal Reserve (NY Fed), the nerve center for Wall Street and the primary force behind Fed market operations. The NY Fed’s actions consistently align with the needs of major banks, reinforcing a system where financial elites profit while average Americans struggle to keep up.

Mechanisms of Wealth Extraction

Here is a breakdown of how the Fed’s actions create a system where policies benefit financial elites at the expense of everyone else.

Quantitative Easing (QE): Inflating Asset Prices for the Wealthy, Leaving Ordinary Americans Behind

Mechanism: Quantitative Easing (QE) allows the Fed to buy government bonds and mortgage-backed securities, pumping liquidity into financial markets. While QE is meant to lower borrowing costs and stimulate the economy, it disproportionately inflates asset prices. As asset values rise, the wealthiest Americans—who own most stocks and real estate—reap the benefits, while average Americans, with few assets, are left behind.

Evidence: During the 2008–2014 QE period, the S&P 500 rose by 140% [2], while the Case-Shiller Home Price Index surged over 30% [3]. Meanwhile, median wage growth only increased by 11% [4]. The top 10% of Americans, who own roughly 89% of all stocks [5], saw their wealth grow significantly, while most Americans saw little improvement in their financial standing.

• Who Benefits: Wealthy investors and corporations with substantial asset holdings. Rising stock prices and home values boost their net worth, securing generational wealth. • Who Loses: Middle- and lower-income Americans, who rely on wages rather than assets for income. Rising home prices make housing unaffordable, and wage stagnation prevents them from catching up.

Low-Interest Rates: Fueling Speculation and Inflating Asset Bubbles

Mechanism: For over a decade, the Fed has maintained historically low-interest rates, intended to stimulate economic growth. While low rates encourage borrowing, they also incentivize high-risk investments and asset speculation, fueling bubbles in stocks and real estate. Ordinary savers, however, earn little to nothing on traditional savings accounts, and when inflation rises, their purchasing power erodes further.

Evidence: Between 2010 and 2020, low rates contributed to a 75% increase in home prices [6]. At the same time, inflation-adjusted savings returns dropped significantly, and median rent increased nearly 45% during this period, making stable housing unattainable for lower-income families [7].

Time magazine owner calls out Kamala Harris for turning down multiple interview requests

The owner of Time magazine called out Vice President Kamala Harris for turning down multiple interview requests with the prominent publication as the campaign for the White House enters the homestretch.

Marc Benioff, who has owned Time since 2018, criticized the Democratic nominee on Sunday while pointing out that ex-President Donald Trump and President Biden — before he dropped out — both sat down for interviews during their campaigns.

“Despite multiple requests, TIME has not been granted an interview with Kamala Harris — unlike every other Presidential candidate,” tweeted Benioff, who is best known as the founder of Salesforce.com.

“We believe in transparency and publish each interview in full. Why isn’t the Vice President engaging with the public on the same level? #TrustMatters #TransparencyMatters #Leadership.”

In a profile of Harris that was published online Friday, a Time reporter noted Trump spoke with Time for 90 minutes during two interviews, and Biden also spoke with the mag for a similar amount of time.

“When she does do interviews, she mostly favors local media, culture podcasts, or friendly talk shows,”writer Charlotte Alter wrote in the piece that also made clear Harris had no interest in speaking with her.

Time was needled in August for writing a glowing profile of the presidential candidate even after she refused to speak with the publication at the time.

Report: US Gives Israel Until After the US Election To Ease Starving of Palestinians

According to Axios, the Biden admin sent a letter to Israeli leaders calling for steps to be taken within 30 days

The Biden administration has given Israel until after the US presidential election to ease the starving of Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip, according to a letter obtained by Axios.

The letter, written by Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, was sent on Sunday and gave Israel 30 days to allow more aid deliveries into Gaza and take other steps to improve humanitarian conditions.

The letter says that a failure to implement these measures may have “implications for US policy under NSM-20 and relevant US law (weapons supply),” referring to foreign assistance laws that prohibit US military aid to countries blocking aid deliveries.

US government agencies had previously concluded Israel was deliberately blocking aid, but Blinken overrode those concerns to ensure US weapons continued to flow to Israel.

Report: Israel Plans To Strike Iran Before US Presidential Election

Officials told The Washington Post that Netanyahu told Biden he plans to target military sites inside Iran

Israel is planning to launch its expected attack on Iran before the US presidential elections are held on November 5, The Washington Post reported on Monday.

An unnamed official told the Post that waiting any longer could be perceived as weakness and that the planned strike “will be one in a series of responses” to the Iranian ballistic missile barrage that was fired at Israel on October 1, which came in response to a series of Israeli escalations.

A source close to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told the Post that while Israel was coordinating with the US to some extent on its plans to attack Iran, it wouldn’t wait for a green light from the US. “The person who will decide on the Israeli response to Iran will be [Netanyahu],” the official said.

Allow me to use the example of this typical Twitter shit-poasting encounter to illustrate the value of something I like to call "political war-dancing." The majority of normal people in the middle just want to sit at whatever political "table" that society at large considers to be the "cool kids' table" because their herd instincts make them feel safer there. US fines German airline Lufthansa for discrimination against Jewish passengers

The fine given by the DOT is the largest an airline has gotten for violating civil rights.

German airline Lufthansa has been fined $4 million by the U.S. Department of Transportation over allegations that it discriminated against Jewish passengers.

Lufthansa allegedly banned 128 passengers from wearing traditional Orthodox Jewish clothing when headed on a flight from New York to Hungary in 2022, according to NBC News.

The airline alleged that members of the group behaved in an inappropriate way and violated the airline's mask policy.

However, the DOT said that staff at Lufthansa "treated them all as if they were a single group and denied them boarding,” even though many were not together and didn't know each other.

The fine marks the largest sum levied against an airline for civil rights violations.

“No one should face discrimination when they travel, and today’s action sends a clear message to the airline industry that we are prepared to investigate and take action whenever passengers’ civil rights are violated,” U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said.

The airline put out a statement saying that they are cooperating with the DOT regarding the investigation.

China's 'Shock' Statement: Palestinians Have Right To Use 'Armed Force' Against Israel

China has backed the right of the Palestinian people to use armed force to combat Israel's occupation of their land, calling it an "an inalienable right well founded in international law".

The comments on Thursday were made by the Chinese ambassador to the UN, Zhang Jun, during the fourth day of public hearings held by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague, Netherlands.

Representatives of 52 countries are addressing the ICJ on Israel's decades-long occupation of Palestinian land.

Beijing’s envoy said there were "various people (who) freed themselves from colonial rule" and they could use "all available means, including armed struggle".

He described the Palestinian use of armed resistance as legitimate and not an act of terrorism.

"The struggle waged by peoples for their liberation, right to self-determination, including armed struggle against colonialism, occupation, aggression, domination against foreign forces should not be considered terror acts," Zhang Jun told the court.

In his speech, Jun criticized Israeli policies, characterizing them as “oppression that has severely undermined and impeded the exercises and full realization of the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination".

The ICJ’s public hearings, which will be held until February 26, come after a UN General Assembly resolution requesting an ICJ advisory opinion.

The number of states participating in the oral proceedings is the highest of any case since the ICJ's establishment in 1945 and is separate to the more publicized genocide case brought by South Africa. A panel of 15 judges are expected to take about six months to deliberate before issuing an advisory opinion.

Besides China, other countries scheduled to participate in the hearings include Hungary, France, South Africa and Egypt.

International bodies, including the Arab League, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the African Union will also take part. Israel will not participate but has sent written observations to the court.

“That’s my stabby-stick,” Lisa says before I even ask. “In case I can’t bring my gun somewhere. These guys are dangerous.”

“These guys” are sex traffickers, and dangerous doesn’t begin to describe them.

Many traffickers are members of Mexican or Salvadorian gangs, part of Cuban rings or the vicious Venezuelan group Tren de Aragua. Their modus operandi is luring migrant women and girls across the southern border, promising them good jobs once they get to America, and then forcing them into prostitution once they’re here, ostensibly to pay off the debt they incurred to get into the U.S. Hunting down sex traffickers is not for the faint of heart, and Lisa is not about to take any chances.

An athletic, no-nonsense blonde in her 50s, Lisa runs a small nonprofit foundation called Shepherd’s Watch, dedicated to bringing down sex-trafficking rings. Prior to starting Shepherd’s Watch in 2016, Lisa had been a telecom engineer and an expert at analyzing cell phone data used in court cases. In that job, she says, she saw a “disturbing” amount of child exploitation. “I couldn’t ignore it anymore.”

Lisa, who asked that we not use her real name, calls herself “an informant.” She lacks the authority to arrest a trafficker, and any attempt to rescue the girls herself could well get her killed. Instead, Lisa and a small handful of other Shepherd’s Watch investigators work to locate victims and their pimps and then turn the information over to police departments, sheriff’s offices, and other law enforcement agencies. Because Lisa and her team have gained credibility with law enforcement over the years, the police usually follow up on the information the Shepherd’s Watch informants provide. Sometimes they hit pay dirt, arresting the traffickers and removing the girls to a safe place.

“Law enforcement is understaffed and stretched too thin,” says Lisa. “That’s where we come in.”

At the barbecue joint off Route 75 in Dallas, Lisa pulls out her phone to show me the dozen or so online platforms that traffickers and pimps use to sell girls for sex. The platforms—which include apps like TikTok, OnlyFans, and Facebook—are chockablock with ads of women, usually wearing lingerie, their faces covered to prevent anyone guessing their age. The sheer number of ads is astonishing. “Each week, we track over 12,000 ads for women in Houston, 2,600 in San Antonio, 3,500 in Austin, and 14,000 in Dallas,” says Lisa.

MIAMI Conservative activist James O’Keefe has released secretly recorded, selectively edited video footage that includes a Democratic activist bragging about deploying troublemakers at rallies held by Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.

After O’Keefe released the video this week, two Democratic operatives stopped working on the presidential race and both the Democratic Party and Hillary Clinton’s campaign denounced the tactics described in the footage. Both said the activities described never took place.

O’Keefe’s group, Project Veritas, promised to release additional videos ahead of the Nov. 8 election.

Conservative activist James O'Keefe, whose deceptively edited hidden camera videos* have made him a star on the right, is out with a new video targeting National Public Radio executive Ron Schiller - and by extension NPR itself.

The video purports to show Schiller speaking to a pair of men posing as representatives of a phony Muslim group seeking to give $5 million to NPR. The men tell Schiller they are affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood, the Islamist political movement.

It shows Schiller stating that the Republican Party and the Tea Party is "fanatically involved in people's personal lives and very fundamental Christian - and I wouldn't even call it Christian. It's this weird evangelical kind of move."

Who is James O'Keefe, and what's Project Veritas?

A thritysomething conservative provocateur and self-proclaimed "guerilla journalist," O'Keefe has been making undercover sting videos since 2009. That was the year he teamed up with a young conservative activist, Hannah Giles, to make a series of damning videos targeting ACORN, a left-wing organizing group.

O'Keefe and Giles got ACORN workers to advise them "on how to smuggle Salvadoran girls into the country, falsify a loan application to buy a house for use as a brothel and even claim the under-age prostitutes as dependents for tax purposes," according to The New York Times. Critics countered that the videos were selectively edited – an accusation O'Keefe has faced many times since – but ACORN effectively closed up shop soon after.

The sting made O'Keefe an overnight superstar in the burgeoning conservative media, and caught the attention of Andrew Breitbart, who was then one of the most powerful conservative journalists in the country. In 2010, O'Keefe founded Project Veritas, a nonprofit organization he uses to release and promote his videos.

mainly German, royalty and nobility. In return for their services, court Jews gained social privileges, including, in some cases, being granted noble status.

Examples of what would be later called court Jews emerged in the High Middle Ages[a] when the royalty, the nobility, and the church borrowed money from money changers or employed them as financiers.

Among the most notable of these were Aaron of Lincoln and Vivelin of Strasbourg.

Jewish financiers could use their family connections to provide their sponsors with finance, food, arms, ammunition, gold, and precious metals.[citation needed]

The rise of the absolute monarchies in Central Europe brought many Jews, mostly of Ashkenazi origin, into the position of negotiating loans for the various courts.

They could amass personal fortunes and gain political and social influence. However, the court Jew had social connections and influence in the Christian world mainly through the Christian nobility and church.

Due to the precarious position of Jews, some nobles could ignore their debts. If the sponsoring noble died, his Jewish financier could face exile or execution.

The most famous example of this occurred in Württemberg when, after the death of his sponsor Charles Alexander in 1737, Joseph Süß Oppenheimer was put on trial and finally executed.[1]

In an effort to avoid such fate, some court bankers in the late 18th century—such as Samuel Bleichröder, Mayer Amschel Rothschild, or Aron Elias Seligmann—successfully detached their businesses from these courts

and established what eventually developed into full-fledged banks.[2]

Prohibited from nearly every other trade, some Jews began to occupy an economic niche as moneylenders in the Middle Ages. Only they were allowed to take interest on loans,

since—while the Church condemned usury universally—canon law was only applied to Christians and not to Jews. Eventually, a sizable sector of the Jewish community were engaged in financial occupations,

and the community was a financially highly successful part of the medieval economy.[3][4] The religious restrictions on moneylending had inadvertently created a source of monopoly rents,

causing profits associated with moneylending to be higher than they otherwise would have been.[5]

By most parameters, the standard of living of the Jewish community in Early Medieval period was at least equal to that of the lower nobility.[6]

However, despite this economic prosperity, the community was not safe: religious hostility increased to the extent that it manifested itself in the form of massacres and expulsions,

ATLANTA (AP) — A Georgia judge has ruled county election officials must certify election results by the deadline set in law and cannot exclude any group of votes from certification even if they suspect error or fraud.

Fulton County Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney ruled that “no election superintendent (or member of a board of elections and registration) may refuse to certify or abstain from certifying election results under any circumstance.” While they have the right to inspect the conduct of an election and to review related documents, he wrote, “any delay in receiving such information is not a basis for refusing to certify the election results or abstaining from doing so.”

Georgia law says county election superintendents, which are multimember boards in most counties, “shall” certify election results by 5 p.m. on the Monday after an election — or the Tuesday if Monday is a holiday as it is this year.

The ruling comes as early voting began Tuesday in Georgia.

Julie Adams, a Republican member of the Fulton County election board, had asked the judge to declare that her duties as an election board member were discretionary and that she is entitled to “full access” to “election materials.”

Long an administrative task that attracted little attention, certification of election results has become politicized since then-President Donald Trump tried to overturn his loss to Democrat Joe Biden in the 2020 general election. Republicans in several swing states, including Adams, refused to certify election results earlier this year and some have sued to keep from being forced to sign off on election results.

Adams' suit, backed by the Trump-aligned America First Policy Institute, argues that county election board members have the discretion to reject certification. In court earlier this month, her lawyers also argued that county election officials could certify results without including ballots that appear to have problems, allaying concerns of a board member who might otherwise vote not to certify.

Judge McBurney wrote that nothing in Georgia law gives county election officials the authority to determine that fraud has occurred or what should be done about it. Instead, he wrote, the law says a county election official's “concerns about fraud or systemic error are to be noted and shared with the appropriate authorities but they are not a basis for a superintendent to decline to certify.”

Michigan Judge Accepted Donation From Secretary Of State While Considering Her Appeal

A Michigan State Supreme Court justice accepted an $82,500 donation earlier this year from a PAC tied to Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, at a time when the seven-member Supreme Court was deciding an appeal filed by Benson.

The campaign committee for State Supreme Court Justice Kyra Harris Bolden reported receiving the donation on May 17, 2024. The source of the donation, Legacy PAC, was founded and operated by Benson. Campaign finance reports show that an $82,500 donation was given on April 26, 2024, to the Keep Kyra Harris Bolden for Justice committee.

At the time, Bolden sat on the seven-member bench deciding an appeal Benson filed on Nov. 30, 2023.

On Aug. 28, 2024, Bolden filed the 5–2 majority opinion that granted Benson’s appeal. Republican election integrity advocates believe the decision will eliminate effective oversight of the conduct of elections by poll challengers.

The state Supreme Court ruling overturned a decision by the Michigan Court of Claims, and a subsequent 3–0 Michigan Court of Appeals ruling upholding the lower court’s decision, that Benson’s restrictive guidance regarding poll challengers violated state law and, therefore, had to be modified.

Benson’s loss in the Michigan Court of Appeals was the sixth legal defeat since 2020 involving her administration of statewide elections.

Calls for an Ethics Probe

On Oct. 1, election integrity activist Braden Giacobazzi and former state Sen. Patrick Colbeck, both Republicans, sent a formal request for an investigation of Bolden to the Judicial Tenure Commission, a panel that oversees the conduct of judges.

Giacobazzi and Colbeck asked the commission to look into the propriety of the Michigan Legacy PAC campaign donation.

Bolden, a Democrat, is a former state representative and criminal defense attorney from the Detroit area. She ran unsuccessfully for a seat on the Michigan Supreme Court in November 2022.

Just weeks after that election, Bolden was appointed by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, a Democrat, to serve for a portion of the unexpired term of retiring Justice Bridget McCormack, a Democrat.

Bolden is running in the upcoming Nov. 5 election to retain her position until Jan. 1, 2029.

Democrats currently control the state Supreme Court 4–3.

In a statement on X, Colbeck posted the complaint which alleged that Bolden’s acceptance of the $82,500 campaign contribution from a defendant in a case that was currently before the court “has all the indications of a bribe intended to influence the decision of the court.”

COLUMBUS, Ga. — Former President Bill Clinton said as he campaigned for Vice President Kamala Harris on Monday that the election will come down to whether there is a fair and transparent vote tally.

Asked by NBC News what will decide the outcome, Clinton responded, "Who wants it bad enough and whether we can get an honest, open count."

A Clinton aide later said he was referring to various reports of threats and intimidation against election officials.

Clinton has been stumping for Harris in Georgia, where his remarks to voters Sunday raised eyebrows when he discussed immigration.

Trying to argue that Harris is more serious than former President Donald Trump about finding solutions to border issues and immigration, Clinton referred to the killing in February of a 22-year-old Georgia nursing student, Laken Riley, and the man charged in her death, a Venezuelan citizen who entered the U.S. illegally in 2022.

Clinton said that it "probably wouldn't have happened" if migrants "had all been properly vetted."

Trump, who has made immigration the foundation of his re-election bid while casting doubt on election security after his 2020 loss, used Clinton's remarks against the Harris campaign, saying the man accused of killing Riley entered the U.S. days before Harris called the border "secure."

The Harris campaign said Clinton's words were taken out of context. In his full remarks, Clinton said the U.S. needs "vetted" immigrants to do work. He also touched on Trump's successful efforts to sink a bipartisan bill this year that would have beefed up border security.

Clinton is one of the high-profile surrogates, including former President Barack Obama, campaigning for Harris as the race enters its final stretch. A new NBC News poll indicates the contest is a dead heat.

WASHINGTON — Vice President Kamala Harris urged black men to back her presidential candidacy Tuesday by pledging to legalize marijuana — despite overseeing more than 1,900 marijuana convictions as San Francisco district attorney between 2004 and 2011.

Harris, 59, made the statement as she prepared for an afternoon interview with radio host Charlamagne tha God — on whose program she claimed in 2019 she had smoked marijuana in college, inviting allegations of hypocrisy over her prosecutorial record. (How about giving them money to feed their families, now you are telling them to use their money on pot? Sick bitch. There's going to be a lash back from the black community for sure.)

“Kamala Harris will legalize recreational marijuana — breaking down unjust barriers that hold Black men and other Americans back and making sure Black Americans have opportunities to succeed as the marketplace takes shape,” she tweeted ahead of her 5 p.m. interview with Charlamagne.

==Harris, 59, is trying to court younger black men– ahead of the Nov. 5 election as polling suggests that the demographic may be drifting toward former President Donald Trump, potentially tipping the outcome in the Republican’s favor in close swing states.

Trump, 78, also supports marijuana legalization, at least on a state-by-state basis — endorsing Florida’s pending marijuana legalization ballot initiative last month and saying that people should not be jailed for using the drug.

“I believe it is time to end needless arrests and incarcerations of adults for small amounts of marijuana for personal use,” Trump wrote on social media.

“We must also implement smart regulations, while providing access for adults, to safe, tested product. As a Floridian, I will be voting YES on Amendment 3 this November.”

Trump was the second president to preside over state-legal recreational marijuana markets, which were first authorized by ballot initiatives in Colorado and Washington state in 2012, and he did not move to shut down those markets or prosecute businesspeople operating in compliance with local rules.

Federal law still makes possession of marijuana illegal for any reason outside limited research and retiring President Biden, who wrote some of the nation’s toughest federal drug laws as a senator in the 1980s and ’90s, opposes pot legalization.

Trump on his final day in office freed seven inmates serving life in prison for marijuana — two of whom were locked up under the three-strikes system ratified by Biden’s 1994 crime law.

Biden pivoted to a more liberal stance during his 2020 candidacy, pledging to release “everyone” in prison for marijuana, but has instead provoked outrage from activists and federal inmates for leaving the nation’s roughly 2,700 federal pot prisoners behind bars and mass-pardoning people convicted federally of simple marijuana possession, of whom none were in prison. Most, if not all, federal inmates were convicted of dealing pot, not just possessing it.

Those critics pointed out that Harris graduated from Howard University in 1986, five years before Tupac released his first album in 1991 and about seven years before Snoop Dogg released his first album in 1993.

Harris’ father, Jamaica-born Stanford University economics professor emeritus Donald Harris, meanwhile, said he was outraged that his daughter had perpetuated stereotypes about his Caribbean homeland.

Her dad told Jamaica Global Online that “[s]peaking for myself and my immediate Jamaican family, we wish to categorically dissociate ourselves from this travesty.”

“My dear departed grandmothers… as well as my deceased parents, must be turning in their grave right now to see their family’s name, reputation and proud Jamaican identity being connected, in any way, jokingly or not with the fraudulent stereotype of a pot-smoking joy seeker and in the pursuit of identity politics,” Harris’ father wrote.
