The Government Is Spending $22 Million To Help Illegal Immigrants Get COVID Vaccines

 

A leftwing organization is set to receive more than $22 million from the United States government for a campaign that encouraged illegal aliens to receive the COVID-19 vaccination, The Daily Wire has learned.

 

Nearly $19 million of the $22.4 million grant from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has already been paid out to UnidosUS to support the leftwing non-profit’s efforts to expand vaccination with a focus on “vulnerable populations” within the Latino community, including illegal aliens.

 

The grant, dispersed through the Center for Disease Control, funds UnidosUS’s campaign to “increase awareness, education, and promotion of the COVID-19 vaccine among Latinos, including vulnerable populations, E.G. essential workers and undocumented individuals.” The grant began in February 2021 and is set to conclude at the end of January 2026.

 

UnidosUS, a 501(c)(3) organization that describes itself as the nation’s largest Hispanic civil rights and advocacy organization, appears to have used the funding to create the “Esperanza Hope for All Adult Vaccine Access Program,” which it credits to the CDC funding.

 

“Since its inception in 2021, Esperanza Hope for All … has been at the forefront of mitigating the health, economic and educational impacts of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic on Latino communities,” a program factsheet reads.

 

A 2021 toolkit promoting the program includes question-and-answer flashcards, including one that asks, “Can I get a COVID-19 vaccine if I am undocumented?”

Syrian Forces Clash With Hezbollah-Linked Clans On Border With Lebanon

 

Syrian government forces, mainly made up of fighters from the now dissolved Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham group, have clashed with Shiite clans linked to Hezbollah on the border with Lebanon, with both sides taking casualties.

 

The clashes began on February 6 in the western countryside of Homs. The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported that the Border Security Department launched an operation in the border town of Hawik, mainly inhabited by Lebanese citizens from the Zoaiter and Jaafar clans. Multiple suspects were arrested, and weapons and illicit goods were seized, according to the state-run news agency.

 

The two Shiite clans are allegedly involved in smuggling weapons to Hezbollah, as well as in the trafficking of illicit drugs, mainly a synthetic amphetamine known as Captagon.

 

Syrian government forces used heavy weapons, including multiple rocket launchers, main battle tanks and drones. In response to the escalation, the Lebanese army deployed reinforcements along the border.

 

SANA said that a member of the country’s security forces was killed in the clashes, while Al-Mayadeen reported the death of three on the Lebanese side.

 

The clashes continued into February 7, following an overnight detainee exchange at the Jusiyah border crossing, which was overseen by the Lebanese Armed Forces. According to Hezbollah-affiliated news outlet Al-Mayadeen, the exchange saw the release of 16 women and children from the Syrian town of al-Aqrabiyah and the two Syrian fighters from the Lebanese side.

 

By the end of the second day of the clashes, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that Syrian government forces were in control of most of the border, including Hawik and the nearby towns of al-Qasir and Akwm.

 

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun discussed the situation on the border with his Syrian counterpart Ahmad al-Sharaa during the day.

 

“They agreed to coordinate efforts to control the situation and prevent attacks on civilians,” said the Lebanese presidency on its X account. Aoun also took the opportunity to congratulate al-Sharaa on his accession to the presidency.

 

All in all, both Syria and Lebanon appear to be willing to coordinate to secure the border. However, this will be another setback for Hezbollah which lost its main supply route with the fall of the Assad regime in Syria last December. It is unclear yet how the group could react once the conflict with Israel is over.

Yesterday, I was told that there are currently over $100B/year of entitlements payments to individuals with no SSN or even a temporary ID number. If accurate, this is extremely suspicious.

 

When I asked if anyone at Treasury had a rough guess for what percentage of that number is unequivocal and obvious fraud, the consensus in the room was about half, so $50B/year or $1B/week!!

We Need Broken Windows Immigration Policy.

 

To fulfill President Trump’s mandate for “the largest deportation operation in American history” and to “seal the border and stop the migrant invasion,” we must radically rethink and resource our approach to policing illegal presence in the United States. The Trump administration should look to the successful “Broken Windows Policing” strategy of the 1980s for both operational and policy guidance. It’s time for broken windows immigration policy.

 

A broad enforcement strategy will also be cost-effective by encouraging self-deportation. It should be supported by policies that remove incentives for illegal residency, such as eliminating free healthcare, housing, and stipends, restricting access to public schools, taxing remittances, enforcing E-Verify, and empowering federal and state agencies in immigration enforcement — all policies likewise rooted in good fiscal sense. Only through such a holistic approach can we fulfill the mandate of this election.

Elon Musk’s DOGE has swept into 14 federal agencies. Here’s what to know.

 

Staffers and allies of Elon Musk’s US DOGE Service have fanned out across Washington in recent days, seeking access to [payment data] and [disrupting corruption] in at least 14 government agencies in pursuit of a [less corrupt, less wasteful and] dramatically smaller federal government.

 

DOGE, which stands for the Department of Government Efficiency, has not disclosed the names of its staff. But [The Washington Compost] has identified more than 30 people working for or closely with it by examining the internal directories of multiple agencies and interviewing numerous federal workers.

 

About half of those identified have ties to Musk or his companies.

 

Musk’s allies have established their strongest footholds in three agencies: OPM, which oversees the federal workforce; GSA, which controls real estate and logistics; and the Department of the Treasury, which manages the nation’s finances. Each office aligns with a key Musk goal: to reduce the number of government workers, to diminish the government’s overall footprint and to slow the flow of government cash to recipients deemed unworthy [and wasteful].

 

DOGE posted on its X account Friday night that “coordination across 35 agencies over the last two days” had resulted in cuts of $250 million through the termination of 199 contracts. It did not name the agencies or the contracts; DOGE staffers have indicated their intention to eliminate every contract not essential to operations or required by law.

 

While DOGE’s reach is broad, its numbers appear to be relatively small. Some DOGE associates have received official government credentials, including official email addresses, at multiple agencies, according to documents and interviews.

DENVER (KDVR) — A fun tradition adopted during major sporting events, is to let an animal attempt to predict who the winning team will be. Some animals have a strikingly accurate ability to predict the victor, while others may have lost the common sports better plenty of money.

 

This Super Bowl Sunday, the Denver Zoo Conservation Alliance is easing the pressure off the animals and no predictions will have to be made. The zoo is, however, taking the day to celebrate some of its feathered friends.

 

For Super Bowl Sunday, the Denver Zoo is going to be celebrating “Superb Owl Sunday.” Down. Set. Hoot. The three owls being celebrated include:

 

Snowy owls can be discovered in Arctic regions across North America and the Palearctic. It is one of the largest species of owls and one of few that displays white plumage. It primarily hunts lemmings but can diversify its pool of prey if necessary. Snowy owls are primarily nomadic, migratory birds. The snowy owl being highlighted at the zoo this weekend is named Lumi.

 

Found across the Americas, this owl is one of the most populous species of owls. They are marked by a distinct heart-shaped face. They are almost strictly nocturnal and are usually found near open fields and meadows. They have an “eerie” hoot in comparison to other species of owls. Casper is the barn owl who will be highlighted at the zoo this weekend.

 

This pint-sized owl can be located east of the Rocky Mountains in wooded areas, suburbs and parks — basically anywhere with a tree. They might be hard to detect, however, as they blend in superbly with the bark of trees. The zoo’s eastern screech owl is named Luna.

 

The owls will not be participating in any predictions but will celebrate Superb Owl Sunday and are surely interested in “hoo” is going to win the big game.

Riverside Sheriff Deputy Caught Smuggling 100 Lbs of Fentanyl Sentenced to Time Served & Probation

 

A former Riverside County Sheriff's Deputy has pleaded guilty to transporting over 100 pounds of fentanyl and been sentenced to probation in California. In September 2023, while off-duty, he was caught carrying more than 100 pounds of fentanyl on the 10-freeway near Calimesa, California. He resigned from the Sheriff's Department following his arrest.

 

"After a K9 alerted to the presence of narcotics within the vehicle, a search was conducted," sheriff's Capt. Rob Roggeveen said. "Located in the vehicle was (104) pounds of packaged fentanyl pills, or M30s. Also located in the vehicle was a loaded handgun."

 

Jorge Alberto Oceguera Rocha, now 26, was accused of smuggling fentanyl as a middleman for the Sinaloa Cartel. He would have been ensnared during a DEA and local Riverside police investigation into cartel trafficking in the eastern area of the county.

 

Authorities said there was no indication he brought drugs into any of Riverside County's jails but transporting the narcotics for a larger organization.

 

He was hired by the department in April 2019 and had been assigned to the Smith Correctional Facility in Banning.

 

The Riverside County Sheriff's Department previously said in a court affidavit that investigators intercepted Oceguera-Rocha's phone calls and learned he was planning to travel to an "identified narcotic stash location" in Victorville.

 

According to a Riverside police statement, "the DEA and Riverside police provided investigative leads to the Sheriff's Department, ultimately assisting in the arrest of the deputy." That arrest came after the US Attorney initially declined to file charges, resulting in his arrest by his own department.

 

The federal indictment was rejected by the AUSA’s office. This was likely due to Rocha's involvement in an ongoing investigation, entitled Operation Hotline Bling.

 

This prompted investigators from SIB to re-arrest Oceguera-Rocha and re-book him into a county jail with the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office prepared to file charges to include possession of narcotics, transportation with the intent to distribute narcotics, weight enhancements for the narcotics (104 pounds of fentanyl), and possession of a firearm while in possession of narcotics.

Operation Hotline Bling

Rocha had been one of more than a dozen people under surveillance as part of Operation Hotline Bling, a joint federal-local law enforcement crackdown on the Sinaloa drug trafficking network based in Mexico.

 

The investigation began in March 2023. It was initiated by the DEA Riverside District Office and the Riverside Police Department with assistance from the US Postal Service. A total of 376 pounds of methamphetamine, 37.4 pounds of fentanyl, 600,000 fentanyl tablets, 1.4 kilograms of cocaine, and 7 firearms were recovered during the operation, according to Riverside police. 16 defendants were charged including former Sheriff's Deputy Rocha.

 

George Alexander Aranda, Edwin Michael Alva and Christopher Arreola Alvarado were indicted on charges of conspiracy to distribute at least 400 grams of a mixture and substance containing a detectable amount of fentanyl and methamphetamine.

 

Alvarado operated and maintained a drug stash in Perris, California the court documents alleged, and the two men would package fentanyl at the stash house for shipping through the mail. Aranda and Alva would take the packaged fentanyl and mail it to customers from post offices in and around Riverside County, prosecutors alleged.

 

Rocha pleaded guilty last week to transportation of controlled substances and possession of controlled substances for sale. The weapons enhancement charge was dropped.
