President Trump Responds to Jerome Powell’s Refusal to Cut Rates for Fifth Time Since December

Reporter: You said that higher interest rates are making it harder for veterans to refinance. With the stronger than expected GDP report out this morning, what do you say to analysts who worry that lowering interest rates would actually lead to inflation?

Trump: Well, if that happens, then we'd just raise them. What you do is you lower them, and let's see if there's inflation. Right now, there's no inflation. Everybody thought there would be. All we have is billions of dollars of cash pouring into our country from other countries that took advantage of us for many, many years. You know, they were taking advantage of– we were like the stupid people that didn't know what they were doing. They took advantage of us, other countries, friend and foe. And by the way, the friend was oftentimes much worse than the foe when it comes to trade.

So,if that happens, what you do is you raise your rates and you do what you have to do to stop inflation, but we're keeping the rates high, and it's hurting people from buying houses. So, we don't want that. If, for any reason, that happened, in a year or two, if there's some signs of inflation coming back– right now there's not. We have a great thing going. I think we're going to have the richest economy you've ever seen. We have money coming in that we've never even thought about at numbers that nobody's ever seen before. We have a deal with Japan, where they're going to pay us $550 billion; we have a deal with Europe, where they're doing $750 billion plus $400 billion, plus $300 billion; and many other countries. It's likewise, you know, relatively those are two big ones, but likewise. So, we have a lot of money coming in, and we have no inflation, and we're very strong, and we should be lowering the rates.

You know, each point that this gentleman keeps up costs us $365 billion a year. Think of that, one point, $365 billion. If you bring it down a point, we save 365. We should be the lowest interest rate, and we're not. We're 38, number 38, because of the Fed. It's all because of the Fed. He's done a bad job. Now, he's got a meeting today, but I call [Powell] "Too Late." He's always too late, even if he does it today, probably wont. I hear they're going to do it in September, not today. For whatever reason, nobody knows, but Europe, as you know, cut their rates 11 times in the last short period of time.

But the good news is we're doing better than anybody anywhere in the world. Nobody's doing anything even close to us, even with the higher rates. The higher rates do affect housing though because people can't go out and get a loan or refinance their house, and it would be nice to have them be able to do that. That would be just another check of a box that would be very important.

In the West, Public Policy Has Been Privatised. Stephen Karganovic

Gerald Celente was slightly but forgivably off when he quoted Mussolini on the definition of fascism to the effect that it denotes the fusion of state and corporate power. That is technically correct, except that the “corporations” Mussolini referred to originally are not exactly the same as the corporations that Celente has in mind.

Mussolini was referring to collective entities representing the various sectors of society. In the system he proposed the state would play a central role in controlling these corporations and mediating their disputes. In theory at least, Mussolini’s system was intended to create a unified, harmonious society where class conflict would be eliminated through the integration of workers, employers, and the state.

When Celente refers to corporate power, he does not mean entities representing and acting on behalf of a cross section of major professional, craft, trade, cultural, and economic segments of society. He is referring to an essentially different type of “corporation,” as found in Western capitalist societies, with a specific relationship to state structures. Such corporations are disinterested in social harmony since they are business enterprises engaged in the predatory pursuit of material gain and frequently they transcend state boundaries.

The definitional nuance is significant for at least two reasons.

Firstly, much as in practice the Corporatist system advocated by Mussolini diverges from its theoretical model, its postulated objective was to achieve a measure of social harmony and cooperation. That objective is completely foreign to the agenda of corporations which operate within the liberal capitalist system today.

Secondly, corporations as the term is currently used manifestly are not subordinate to the state, as would have been the case under classical fascism, but increasingly assert their dominance over it. If comparisons may be drawn between the contemporary state and its interaction with corporate entities, on the one hand, and the classical scheme of fascism as described by Mussolini on the other, the picture we get today is of a reversal.

The state has lost its attribute of controller and referee and is no longer empowered or asked to mediate between conflicting social interests. It is instead marginalised and replaced by private corporate interests and their agenda as the predominant power.

If such a role reversal may still be regarded as “fascism,” so be it.

While most of the country has erupted in outrage after an angry mob savagely assaulted two white people in downtown Cincinnati over the weekend, one prominent local politician has the exact opposite reaction to the story.

As The Gateway Pundit reported, a group of black individuals smacked around a bald white guy at the intersection of West Fourth Street and Elm Street in downtown Cincy and beat him so bad that he could not get up.

Then, a white woman got slugged by one of the cowards. Her head slammed down onto the concrete, and she lost consciousness. Blood was seen coming out of her mouth.

Two people have been arrested in the attack so far. One was out on bail from previous charges.

Now, Cincinnati Mayoral candidate Cory Bowman has discovered something also quite disturbing. Victoria Parks, the Cincinnati City Council’s president pro tem, thinks this wicked mob was 100% justified in its actions.

In fact, she openly celebrated seeing these two poor tourists getting beaten within an inch of their lives earlier this week.

“They begged for that beatdown! I am grateful for the whole story,” Parks wrote in response to a Facebook post.

The two phone calls from Washington DC arrived at the same split of a second but I declined both on my Apple Watch as I was answering questions on a live TV interview about the new interstellar object 3I/ATLAS discovered on July 1, 2025.

As soon as the interview ended, I listened to the two recorded messages and found that one was from the office of Representative Anna Paulina Luna and the second from Reuters. Both wanted to know more about 3I/ATLAS.

I informed Representative Luna about the opportunity to get a closer look of 3I/ATLAS with the Juno spacecraft in orbit around Jupiter, based on a paper that I submitted for publication a few hours earlier (accessible here) with Adam Hibberd and Adam Crowl from the Initiative for Interstellar Studies.

If I had only a few months left to live with a choice of where to spend them, I would have loved to board Juno on a collision course with 3I/ATLAS.

The pre-collision view of a large interstellar object that travelled through interstellar space for billions of years must be magnificent.

A few hours later, I was informed that Joe Rogan posted a YouTube segment in which he discusses my recent papers on 3I/ATLAS.

This segment received more than a million views within 12 hours. It was followed by interview requests that I received from CBS, CNN, NewsNation and international TV channels.

Communicating my research to the public is an important responsibility. However, I find less value in talking about scientific work than doing it.

This is why I wrote a total of nine new scientific papers over the past month alone (accessible here). Before the internet was invented and when written news was printed on paper, it was often said that “Today’s newspaper is tomorrow’s fish and chip paper.”

People forget the news of yesterday, but the physical reality maintains its nature. Therefore, any new scientific knowledge about that physical reality is far more precious than the chitchat in social media or news outlets about it.

The nature of 3I/ATLAS will not be revealed by listening to opinions of commentators but rather by analyzing data collected by state-of-the-art telescopes.

We can learn more by observing the interstellar show of 3I/ATLAS on the sky during the coming months with our best telescopes from the radio band to X-rays.

As a scientist, I respond to evidence collected by instruments. As of now, we have anomalies but we need more data on 3I/ATLAS or other interstellar objects in order to ascertain whether any one of them is technological in origin.

Once we find an interstellar artifact beyond a reasonable doubt, the next step will be to figure out its technological capabilities and intent.

The analysis of the available data could benefit from artificial intelligence (AI), especially if the object shows complex patterns. The reverse engineering of the alien technologies could spark new growth frontiers in human-made products.

Those would represent a quantum leap in our abilities if the aliens benefitted from thousands or millions of years of advanced scientific research compared to the one century we had so far after quantum mechanics was discovered.

But there is also a security aspect to technological interstellar objects. For objects inside the Earth’s atmosphere, it is necessary to employ state-of-the-art cameras to monitor the sky around the globe at infrared, optical and radio wavebands and then analyze the data with the best AI software available.

This is the approach taken by the Galileo Project, under my leadership. For interstellar objects far away from Earth, one would like to analyze data coming from the NSF-DOE Vera C. Rubin Observatory in the southern hemisphere and build a similar observatory in the northern hemisphere.

Again, the data should be analyzed by AI algorithms. Over the coming decade, the Rubin Observatory is expected to discover a new interstellar object every few months.

To do a good job on both types of objects, it is imperative to allocate major funds and attract the best minds in the world, as I noted in a congressional briefing, attended by Representative Luna, on May 1, 2025 (accessible here).

When approaching a `blind date,’ it is prudent to listen to the other side before speaking. This is a particularly good practice for a blind date with a visitor from another star, since all bets are off.

We must first learn what the alien visitor is about and then design optimal communication and mitigation strategies. A friendly appearance might be misleading as it may potentially reflect a `Trojan Horse’.

A neighbor with superior intelligence could manipulate us. This is a concern for the artificial intelligence we are currently creating, but even more so for alien intelligence. It is unclear which type of AI poses a bigger existential threat to the future of humanity.

The answer will depend on the nature of any interstellar artifacts uncovered by the Rubin Observatory and other survey telescopes over the next decade.

As I suggested in my CBS interview (accessible here), it is important to establish a risk scale for interstellar encounters, with 0 marking a natural comet or asteroid and 10 marking an alien spaceship of unknown intent.

Directed by Rich Lee and produced by Timur Bekmambetov (Searching, Unfriended), this adaptation trades massive tripods for a story told entirely through screens.

The film stars Ice Cube as Will Radford, a Homeland Security cyber-security analyst whose life flips upside down when an alien invasion hits.

With surveillance feeds, video calls, and social media driving the narrative, the movie dives into themes of privacy, data, and control in a world where everything is monitored.

The official synopsis reads: “Will Radford (Ice Cube), a top cyber-security analyst for U.S. Homeland Security, spends his days tracking potential threats to national security through a mass surveillance program, until an attack by an unknown entity leads him to question whether the government has been hiding something important from him… and the rest of the world.”

Alongside Cube, the cast includes Eva Longoria, Clark Gregg, Andrea Savage, Henry Hunter Hall, Iman Benson, Devon Bostick, and Michael O’Neill.
