US Oil Posts Biggest Weekly Gain Ever As Iran War Rages On

Mar 6, 2026(Bloomberg) –US oil posted the biggest weekly gain on record as the war in Iran upends critical energy market flows, with shipping through the Strait of Hormuz at a near-total halt.

 

West Texas Intermediate added 12% on Friday to settle just below $91 a barrel, the largest daily jump in almost six years, while Brent closed near $93 a barrel. Iran warned that the European Union is a “legitimate” target if it joins the war, adding to bullish momentum.

 

The Wall Street Journal reported that Kuwait has begun cutting production at some oil fields after running out of places to store bottled-up crude, the latest sign of a hit to regional output. Citigroup Inc. estimates that the oil market is losing 7 million to 11 million barrels of daily supply due to the disruption through Hormuz.

 

Crude surged even after US President Donald Trump signaled “imminent action” to reduce pressure on prices, while National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett denied that the White House would tap the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, a cache of crude held in vast underground caverns, anytime soon.

 

“We’ve got a whole flow chart of tools to use,” Hassett said during a Bloomberg Television interview.

 

So far, the Treasury Department has eased curbs on India’s ability to buy Russian oil and the US International Development Finance Corp. announced a $20 billion plan for maritime reinsurance, including war risk, in the Gulf region.

 

Japan was also reportedly considering tapping national reserves. No action has yet been taken, though market participants are speculating that a coordinated release from multiple nations’ emergency oil inventories could be enacted to maximize impact.

 

Still, with no sign of a let-up in hostilities, Goldman Sachs Group Inc. flagged the risk of scenarios for oil topping $100 a barrel in the case of prolonged disruption. European diesel futures headed for a weekly gain of more than 50%, and central banks signaled unease about a possible resurgence in inflation.

 

There has been a “near-total” pause in commercial traffic through Hormuz, according to the Joint Maritime Information Center, a multinational naval advisory group. The collapse stems from “security threats, insurance constraints, operational uncertainty and effective disruptions.”

 

Some shippers are booking smaller vessels to transport oil from the US Gulf Coast to Asia as costs soar for the massive tankers typically used on those routes. Meanwhile, only nine empty VLCCs remain available to store crude from major Middle East producers. Once those are filled, onshore storage tanks will fill rapidly.

Democratic Govs. Kathy Hochul and Gavin Newsom turned a blind eye to the billions of dollars in Medicaid fraud they let go down the drain, Medicaid czar Dr. Mehmet Oz alleged Sunday.

“Some governors have not been serious about these problems. I’m going to single out [Tim] Walz in Minnesota, Gov. [Gavin] Newsom in California and Gov. [Kathy] Hochul here in New York,” Oz, the administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, said on 77 WABC’s “Cats Roundtable” program.

Medicaid is the public health insurance program for those in need, with costs split among the federal, state and local governments.

Oz announced last week that his office is conducting an extensive probe of the Hochul administration’s management of New York’s mammoth $124 billion Medicaid program.

The Post also reported that the Justice Department is set to file a lawsuit against Hochul’s administration over its allegedly rigged revamp of the state’s Medicaid home care program.

“There’s a rot in the system. The fraud you see in New York state isn’t a flaw — it’s a feature for some people,” he said.

Oz claimed that the number of employees serving elderly residents in New York’s home care and personal care programs has spiraled out of control in New York compared to other states.

These workers, paid by taxpayers, are providing care that historically has been provided by family members, he said.

“I think it is political patronage, and it’s a jobs program,” Oz said.

He discussed senior community care centers in the city where elderly residents can socialize during the day, particularly in Brooklyn and Queens.

About $1.2 billion is spent on community centers.

“What are you actually doing for them? These [bills] are manufactured,” Oz said.

He then turned to California’s Medicaid spending on the proliferation of hospice programs, which dwarfs other states.

“The number of hospices … just in Los Angeles is about 2,000. In the entire country, there were 6,000,” he said.

“And here’s the part that drives you batty: no one dies in these hospices. No one‘s dying because they are lying. They’re signing up people falsely. They trick people into signing up. They charge a lot of money to the federal government,” he said.

Republican states also have problems with Medicaid fraud, including Florida, led by Gov. Ron DeSantis.

Oz said there are twice as many medical equipment suppliers in Florida that bill Medicaid as there are McDonald’s franchises.

But he directed most of his wrath at Hochul and Newsom for “looking the other way.”

“In New York State, there’s a tremendous amount of pressure on Gov. Hochul to not in any way interfere with the many monied interests who profit when you’re spending a lot more money than any other state per beneficiary on Medicaid,” he said.

“They don’t mind the fraud or they would have dealt with it… When really smart people don’t fix the problem, it’s because they don’t want to fix the problem.”

More than two dozen men charged with more than 1000 child abuse material offences

Oregon Democrats block bill requiring medical care for babies born alive after abortions

 

All 18 Oregon Senate Democrats voted against the ‘Born Alive Infants Protection Act,’ after Democratic lawmakers in the Oregon House blocked a similar bill last month.

 

For the second time in less than a month, Oregon Democrats have blocked consideration of a bill that would have guaranteed basic medical care to infants delivered alive after botched abortions.

 

“Pro-abortion lawmakers in the Oregon Senate voted against bringing a bill to the Senate floor Thursday that would require Oregon medical professionals to provide the same standards of care to babies born alive during failed abortions as newborns delivered under usual circumstances,” noted Oregon Right to Life’s Communication Director Ashley Sadler.

 

All 18 Senate Democrats voted against SB 1554, the “Born Alive Infants Protection Act,” while all 12 Republicans voted in favor.

 

“Just as their counterparts in the Oregon House did last month, pro-abortion Senators stood with the extreme abortion lobby and rejected a common-sense piece of legislation to simply ensure that babies who survive abortion attempts are treated with the same standard of care as any other newborn,” said Oregon Right to Life Executive Director Lois Anderson. “Defining required standards of care for abortion survivors should be a common ground position for all reasonable people.”

 

“This is not a radical proposal. No matter their stance on abortion, 80% of Oregonians support these basic safeguards,” Anderson continued. “It is well past time to enshrine basic protections for abortion survivors here in Oregon, and it’s a shame that pro-abortion lawmakers have once again failed to do so when given the opportunity.”

 

In late February, Democrat members of the Oregon House voted against a similar bill, HB 4087, which would have required that “When a child is born alive and requires lifesaving treatment to survive, regardless of whether the child’s birth occurred by natural or induced labor, cesarean section or induced abortion, any health care practitioner who is present at the time the child is born alive shall” provide the “same degree of professional skill, care and diligence to preserve the life and health of the child that a reasonably diligent and conscientious health care practitioner would render to any other child born alive at the same gestational age,” including transportation to a hospital if born elsewhere.

US Intelligence Community is Covering its Ass… What is Really Going On with the US War on Iran?

 

Let’s start with the big news from a US Intelligence Community leak to the Washington Post… John Hudson and Warren P. Strobel got the story:

 

A classified report by the National Intelligence Council found that even a large-scale assault on Iran launched by the United States would be unlikely to oust the Islamic republic’s entrenched military and clerical establishment, a sobering assessment as the Trump administration raises the specter of an extended military campaign that officials sayhas “only just begun.”

 

The findings, confirmed to The Washington Post by three people familiar with the report’s contents, raise doubts about President Donald Trump’s declared plan to “clean out” Iran’s leadership structure and install a ruler of his choosing.

 

The report, completed about a week before the United States and Israel initiated the war on Feb. 28, outlined succession scenarios stemming from either a narrowly tailored campaign against Iran’s leaders or a broader assault against its leadership and government institutions, the people familiar with its findings said. In both cases, the intelligence concluded that Iran’s clerical and military establishment would respond to the killing of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei by following protocols designed to preserve continuity of power, these people said.

 

This means the war in Iran is not going well and the US IC is beginning the Washington game of, “Don’t blame me, I warned you not to do it.” I don’t know if Tulsi Gabbard authorized this leak, or if it came from senior analysts from the four principal agencies that were involved in writing this classified report — i.e., the CIA, the Defense Intelligence Agency, State Department’s Bureau of Intelligence and Research, and the National Security Agency. Sanctions against Iran: The Impact on Health Services

 

U.S. sanctions have been a major feature of U.S. Iran policy since Iran's 1979 Islamic revolution, but United Nation and worldwide bilateral sanctions on Iran are a relatively recent development. The official aim of the sanctions is to force the Iranian to comply with international rules over its disputed nuclear program. An array of restrictions on banking, shipping, insurance, ports, trade, commodities and energy transactions and ventures have severed or complicated many of Iran's commercial ties to the outside world. The harsh sanctions have had an impact on all branches of the economy but are increasingly affecting vulnerable patients as deliveries of medicine and raw materials for Iranian pharmaceutical companies and medical equipment for hospitals are stopped. Although medicine is not included in the list of the sanctions, the difficulties in holding license for export of medicine, financial transaction, and shipment as well as fear of possible U.S. sanction by pharmaceutical companies and international banks, led to the shortage of specific drugs and medical facilities in last months. A sudden fifty percent rise in the price of drugs is another contributing factor to this crisis (1, 2). The impact is being felt by more than six million patients suffering from complex diseases such as hemophilia, multiple sclerosis, thalassemia, epilepsy, and various immunological disorders, as well as transplant and kidney dialysis patients and those being treated for cancer. Operating theatres in Iran are running out of anesthetics, forced hospitals to resort to procuring merely older types of anesthetics no longer in use. Most of these patients cannot afford any interruptions or delays in medical supplies. There are reports of deaths in Iran over the past months due to the shortage of medicine.

 

Sanctions, as a tool of coercive foreign policy, have been imposed on several nations, such as Iraq, Cuba, Libya and former Yugoslavia, over the past few decades. Although sanction objectives are rarely met, these sanctions nevertheless lead to a humanitarian disaster (3, 4). There have been many more sanctions-related deaths than casualties resulting from the US-Iraq war in Iraq. Infant mortality rose from 47 per 1000 live births during 1984-89 to 108 per 1000 in 1994-99, and under-5 mortality rose from 56 to 131 per 1000 live births (5, 6). An estimate of a minimum of 300,000 excess deaths among under five-year-old children alone was reported; three times more than the Hiroshima bombing (7). Due to declining hospital capacity, shortage of medicine, and lack of laboratory reagents in Cuba, mortality among those aged 65 and older rose by 15% from 1992 to 1993. Increases in the overall death rate by 10% and in the hospital mortality rate by 30% due to the breakdown of health services after sanctions imposed on former Yugoslavia was reported (8,9). The impact of sanction encompassed much more than restrictions on the availability of medicine. The weakened medical infrastructure strains the ability of the health system to provide services and to respond to medical emergencies. Sanctions are silent killing, especially for those who are dealing with chronic diseases or emergency disorders; the needful are left abandoned. All these sufferings occurred in spite of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other human rights covenants, which guaranteed access to health services, medicine, food, and other essential goods to every human being.

 

Imminent medical resource shortage that is expected to occur within the next few weeks was noted by Iranian officials. In addition to drugs shortage, the provision of materials for health services, such as sutures and vaccines, should be considered (10). It is crucial to take actions today to prevent another humanitarian disaster. Immediate appropriate actions of both Iranian authorities and the international community can help save thousands of lives. The simplest way to achieve this is to ensure that medicine as well as medical and laboratory supplies and the associated banking transactions are indeed exempt from sanctions. President Donald Trump is weighing the option of deploying special forces on the ground to seize Iran’s near-bomb-grade uranium, as officials grow increasingly concerned the stockpile may have been moved, according to three diplomatic officials briefed on the matter.

The US and Israel struck key nuclear facilities during last June’s 12-day war. Uncertainty over Iran’s highly enriched uranium has intensified because it’s almost nine months since United Nations atomic inspectors last verified its location, the officials said. They spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss restricted deliberations.

 

“They haven’t been able to get to it and at some point, maybe we will,” Trump said late on Saturday during a briefing aboard Air Force One. “We haven’t gone after it, but it’s something we can do later on. We wouldn’t do it now.”

 

One of the stated aims of the attacks on Iran has been to rid the Islamic Republic of any capability to produce nuclear weapons. But the strikes on atomic facilities last year complicated the task of tracking the uranium. That’s now become a live issue again for military planners, and it’s unclear whether any special operation would be conducted by US or Israeli forces.

 

Publicly, US officials have projected confidence that they know where the uranium is stored. Privately, there is said to be less certainty. In the weeks before the latest US and Israeli strikes, monitors from the Vienna-based International Atomic Energy Agency observed sustained activity outside tunnels built into a hillside near Isfahan, where the material was last documented before the fighting began.

 

That activity increases the likelihood that at least some of the 441 kilograms (972 pounds) of highly enriched uranium stored at the complex was moved, said a diplomat in the Austrian capital familiar with the agency’s assessments.

 

The stockpile is sufficient for roughly a dozen nuclear warheads if further refined, with the US saying specifically 11 bombs. Iran also possesses more than 8,000 kilograms of uranium enriched to lower levels, material that could be upgraded if enrichment capacity is restored.

US and Israeli officials are actively searching for the highly enriched material and have contingency plans that include deploying special forces if its location is confirmed, one of the officials said.

 

A senior Trump administration official said on March 3 that the US had two options to render Iran’s enriched uranium unusable. If the US had physical control of the territory, people could be sent in to dilute it on-site and safely dispense of it, the official said. They could otherwise remove it from Iran and deal with it in another location, the official said.

 

Axios reported earlier that the US and Israel were looking at potential ground forces to seize Iran’s nuclear stockpile. The White House didn't respond to requests for comment on any potential plan.

 

Trump said on Saturday he didn’t want to talk about ground troops, though he didn’t rule out the possibility. He said they would have to be “for a very good reason” and if they were ever used, Iran would have to be so “decimated that they wouldn’t be able to fight at the ground level.”

The US military has prepared detailed plans for incursions into Iran in the past. One such operation, named Project Honey Badger and developed decades ago in the wake of the US embassy hostage crisis, envisioned airlifting roughly 2,400 special operations troops on more than 100 aircraft into Iran.

 

The plan involved transporting excavation equipment, including a heavy bulldozer, that would be critical for troops if they needed to remove buried uranium.

 

One key challenge they would face is that it could be dispersed and then concealed indefinitely.

According to US regulatory estimates, the highly enriched uranium could be stored in roughly 16 cylinders about 36 inches (91 centimeters) tall, comparable in size to large scuba tanks. Each cylinder would weigh about 25 kilograms, light enough to be transported by vehicle or even potentially by hand.

Issa, a car alarm magnate considered one of the wealthiest members of Congress,had been a chief antagonist for President Barack Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton while he served as chair of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.

 

Issa’s abrupt reversal injects more uncertainty in the race for Southern California’s 48th District, which was drastically reshaped in November after voters approved a new U.S. House map for California to favor Democrats.

 

With an incumbent out of the running, it may be harder for Republicans to hold the seat and, by extension, the party’s fragile majority in the House.

 

After redistricting, Issa flirted with the idea of leaving California to run for Congress in Texas. But he decided to stay put in his home state.

 

“I can hold this seat. I’m not quitting on California and neither should anyone else,” Issa, who represents a district anchored in San Diego County, said in a statement at the time.

 

California’s new congressional map, which was spearheaded by Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom, is intended to tip as many as five Republican-held seats to Democrats this year to offset President Donald Trump’s push in Texas to gain five seats for his party there.

Operation Epic Fury - Déjà Vu

 

In February, the Republican President, after conducting military operations against the government of a foreign power, appealed directly to the armed forces and to the citizens to rise and overthrow the regime. While this sounds ripped from Saturday’s headlines, it occurred in 1991, the President was George H. W. Bush, the foreign power was Iraq, and the encouragement was directed to the Kurdish population of the northern provinces. The Kurds answered the call, believing the regime was ripe for change. In March and April, the uncoordinated uprising, consisting of several disgruntled factions, enjoyed initial success but failed to consolidate and organize. The regime, still formidable, rebounded and crushed the rebellion, leaving tens of thousands dead and nearly two million displaced. The U.S., after encouraging the uprising, stood quietly by.

 

While it is likely that the majority of U.S. citizens have long forgotten this incident, it is equally likely that the majority of the people in the Middle East have not.

 

This past weekend, President Trump, in coordination with Israel, ordered military strikes on military and leadership targets at multiple sites in Iran. Reports have confirmed that the Iranian Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed and there may be more leadership casualties in the wreckage. Like President Bush before him, he made a similar appeal to the Iranian military and people, once these initial strikes subside, to rise and overthrow the government.

 

This is unlikely to happen.

 

First, the Iranian regime is far from devastated. The 86-year-old Ayatollah most certainly had a succession plan in place, and the regime has a fairly deep bench. While the loss of critical leadership in its foreign proxies has dramatically limited its ability to conduct operations abroad, that does not hold true domestically. There are plenty of loyalists ready to fill any leadership gaps left by U.S. and Israeli strikes. While degraded, the regime will remain effective and solidly in power.

 

Second, the Iranian people have not forgotten the lesson learned by the Kurds, therefore an uprising is extremely unlikely. If it did take place, it would need logistical support, organization, and leadership to succeed. These appear to be in short supply. The U.S. is powerless to assist with more than token support.

Shortly after oil blasted past $100 at the open of trading Sunday evening, President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social that a gain in “short term oil prices” was a “very small price to pay” for destroying Iran’s nuclear threat.

 

“Only fools would think differently!” Trump added.

 

Kuwait, the fifth-biggest producer in OPEC, announced precautionary cuts Saturday to its oil production and refinery output due to “Iranian threats against safe passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz.” The state-owned Kuwait Petroleum Corporation did not detail the size of the cuts.

 

Output in Iraq, the second-biggest OPEC producer, has effectively collapsed. Production from its three main southern oilfields has fallen 70% to 1.3 million barrels per day, three industry officials told Reuters Sunday. Those fields produced 4.3 million bpd before Iran war.

 

And the United Arab Emirates, the third-biggest producer in OPEC, said Saturday that it is “carefully managing offshore production levels to address storage requirements.” The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) said its onshore operations are continuing normally.

 

Gulf Arab states are cutting production because they are running out of storage space, as oil barrels pile up with nowhere to go due to the closure of the Strait. Tankers are unwilling transit the narrow waterway because they are worried Iran will attack them. About 20% of the world’s oil consumption is exported through the Strait.

A woman in her 40s was moderately wounded in the head in Rishon LeZion after flying debris struck her at one of the impact sites, emergency services said. The area also experienced a power outage.

The Magen David Adom rescue service said paramedics arrived to find a crater in the road and stones scattered across the area. “There was a woman at the site who had been struck in the head by debris thrown into the air” MDA said in a statement.

 

Paramedics provided lifesaving treatment at the scene before evacuating her by intensive care ambulance to a hospital in stable condition.

Authorities said there were likely three additional fall sites — another in Rishon LeZion and others in Lod and Modi’in Illit. No additional injuries were immediately reported.

Seventh U.S. service member dies during Iran military action

 

"Last night, a U.S. service member passed away from injuries received during the Iranian regime's initial attacks across the Middle East," U.S. Central Command said in a post on X.

 

"Major combat operations continue. The identity of the fallen warrior will be withheld until 24 hours after next of kin notification," CENTCOM said.

 

The seven service members have been killed during the first week of Operation Epic Fury, which the United States and Israel launched on Feb. 28.

 

Since the beginning of the onslaught, Iran has launched retaliatory strikes at its neighbors, some of which host U.S. bases and assets that are being used in the war.

 

A March 1 retaliatory strike on an Army sustainment unit based in Kuwait killed six service members and injured 18 others, whose remains returned to the United States on Saturday.

UAE denies striking desalination facility in Iran, hits out at 'inappropriate' Israeli conduct

 

Abu Dhabi is "struggling to understand Israeli conduct and the nature of briefings coming out of Jerusalem," a source close to the Emirates told the Post.

 

A UAE senior official denied to The Jerusalem Post that Abu Dhabi was involved in a strike against an Iranian desalination facility, contradicting earlier claims by a source familiar with the matter to the Post on Sunday.

 

Accusing Israeli officials of leaking reports of its attack in Iran, a source close to the UAE told the Post that Abu Dhabi was “struggling to understand Israeli conduct and the nature of briefings coming out of Jerusalem.”

 

“It is not appropriate for what is described as a ‘senior Israeli source’ to speak on our behalf or spread rumors about the actions of another sovereign state,” the source said. “This is a sovereign state that makes its decisions independently.”

 

It is the Post’s understanding that the UAE would not strike a civilian target but could target a military site. The IDF, too, denied involvement in that particular strike.

 

The United Arab Emirates was initially said to have struck an Iranian desalination facility on Sunday in what would have been its first retaliatory attack against Iranian drone and missile fire during the combined Israel-US operations (Roaring Lion and Epic Fury) aimed at dismantling the Islamic regime.

 

The UAE Foreign Ministry released a statement reaffirming that the Gulf state was “acting in self-defense against the brutal and unjustified Iranian aggression.

 

“The UAE emphasizes that it does not seek to be drawn into any conflict or escalation but affirms its full right to take all necessary measures to protect its sovereignty, national security, and territorial integrity,” the statement read.

 

Ali Al Nuaimi, chairman of the UAE’s National Defense Committee, said, “The UAE will never place the Iranian people in the same basket as the Iranian regime. The Iranian people are the real victims of that regime and the ones who suffer the most from its policies.”

 

“As neighbors,” he said, “we recognize this reality, and we care about their well-being.”

 

In a similar report last week, a senior Western diplomatic source told the Post that Qatar had carried out strikes inside Iran in retaliation for recent Iranian drone and missile attacks.

 

Abu Dhabi had reportedly contemplated whether it should react after it, along with a host of Gulf nations, was attacked by Iran.

 

Last week, authorities in the UAE extinguished a fire caused by debris after a drone was intercepted by air defenses in the Fujairah oil industry zone.

 

A Wall Street Journal report from Friday said that the UAE was considering freezing billions of dollars in assets belonging to Iran, a move that would cripple the country’s connection to the global economy.

 

Later on Sunday, the UAE Defense Ministry announced that the death toll from Iran’s attacks had risen to four.

How Israel and the FBI manipulated assassination plots to goad Trump into Iran war

 

The FBI manufactured plots to convince Trump that Iran sought to kill him, while Israel and its administration allies exploited the president’s deepest fears to keep him on the war path.

“I got him before he got me,” an ebullient President Donald Trump remarked to a reporter when asked about his motives for authorizing the killing of Iran’s Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, on February 28, 2026.

 

With his off-the-cuff remark, Trump revealed that anxiety about his own assassination at the hands of Iranian agents influenced his decision to initiate a US-Israeli regime change war that has already resulted in American casualties, the bombings of schools and hospitals inside Iran, devastating Iranian retaliatory strikes on US military bases and embassies, and a spiraling global economic crisis.

 

Trump’s generalized fears of assassination were well-founded. He was nearly killed in Butler, Pennsylvania on July 13, 2024 by a 20-year-old engineering student named Thomas Crooks who managed to fire eight rounds at the former president from a rooftop, slicing his ear and missing his head by a hair’s breadth. Two months later, a drifter named Ryan Routh was arrested after hiding for hours in the shrubbery outside the former president’s Mar-a-Lago estate in West Palm Beach, Florida. Routh had been spotted after pointing an assault rifle toward a Secret Service agent as Trump played golf 400 yards away.

 

Officials have yet to produce any evidence that Iran played a role in either of these attempts on Trump’s life. Yet since those fateful events, Israel-aligned Trump advisors, Israeli intelligence, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu himself have gone to extreme lengths in order to tie Tehran to the plots. More shocking still is the fact that the FBI has manufactured a series of assassination plots, successfully convincing Trump that Iran was hunting him on US soil with highly sophisticated teams of hit men.

 

The man accused of leading the most significant of these operations, Asif Merchant, is currently on trial in a Brooklyn, NY federal court. After the US granted him a visa despite his presence on a terror watchlist, Merchant was in the constant company of an FBI confidential informant who ultimately steered the contrived plot to its conclusion. He never stood a chance of realizing his plans, and did not appear serious about doing so.

 

Independent journalist Ken Silva puts it succinctly in his forthcoming investigative book, “The Trump Assassination Plots”: “A closer look at the Merchant case reveals that at the very least…it was a highly controlled FBI sting operation that never posed a threat to Trump. More nefariously, records and whistleblower disclosures indicate that Merchant may have been the patsy in a case totally fabricated by the undercover agents.”
