Judge Leans Toward Tossing Stormy Daniels Defamation Suit Against Trump

A federal judge in Los Angeles indicated Monday that he’s inclined to dismiss a defamation lawsuit by adult move star Stephanie Clifford, better known as Stormy Daniels, against President Donald Trump.

The suit against Trump stems from her lawyer’s release in April of a composite sketch of an unknown man who Clifford claims threatened her in a Las Vegas parking lot in 2011 for agreeing to cooperate with a magazine article about a tryst she says she had with Trump in 2006. In an April tweet Trump called the man “nonexistent” and characterized the sketch as “a total con job.

U.S. District Judge S. James Otero at Monday’s hearing said that considering such statements as defamation would have a chilling effect on candidates running for office and hamper political discourse.

“This appears to be rhetorical hyperbole by a public official involving a public figure,” Otero said.

As I already wrote several times Trump and Putin in Helsinki, first of all discussed the measures to counter the provocations of Hillary Clinton, who is determined to start a nuclear war.

And if you take into account that at the level of prompt response, the responsibility for her actions automatically falls on Trump, then her plans prove to have not such a bad chance of success.

And in order to counter them, Trump went to extremes: in an interview with Tucker Carlson, he disclosed the apparently secret plan for provoking the Third World War. It used to be the Suwalki gap, and now it’s Montenegro.

Here in this clip he describes how the Third World War begins in Montenegro, or rather described, since now this video was removed.

But the short content of this video is retold by Trump’s worst enemy – the Washington Post. Thank you anyway! They do not go into details, but, apparently, Trump knew about this plan for a long time – that’s why at the NATO summit he kicked the president of Montenegro, and explained his actions only now.

Amnesty International inexplicably jumps into the Kavanaugh debate – and gets brutal backlash

In yet another bizarre sideshow to the debate over Brett Kavanaugh, the president’s nominee to the Supreme Court, Amnesty International was berated online for trying to jump into the divisive political contest.

“Silly season”

The London-based human rights organization tweeted that they supported the Democratic narrative in the debate over President Donald Trump’s nomination.

“BREAKING: We are issuing a rare call for a halt to a vote on President Trump’s nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the #SCOTUS unless and until any information relevant to Kavanaugh’s possible involvement in human rights violations,” they tweeted Monday.

They added a statement from Margaret Huang, the Executive Director of Amnesty International USA.

“Amnesty International takes no position on the appointment of particular individuals to government positions,” she explained, “unless they are reasonably suspected of crimes under international law and could use their appointment to the position in question to either prevent accountability for these crimes or to continue perpetration.”

The statement explained that Amnesty had concerns about Kavanaugh’s involvement in the decisions made by the George W. Bush administration in relation to enhanced interrogation techniques and rendition programs. Kavanaugh served for five years under the former administration.

Amnesty also cited the sexual harassment allegations made against Kavanaugh.

“As sexual assault also implicates a number of human rights,” the statement read, “including the right to be free from gender-based discrimination and violence, we also call for a thorough vetting in regard to any allegations made against Kavanaugh to this effect, including those by Dr. Christine Blasey Ford and Deborah Ramirez.”

The Gateway Pundit has an update on the story, reporting that Canadian officials announced on Friday that the billionaires Barry and Honey Sherman were murdered in their home in December.

For the past month officials called their deaths a murder-suicide. The couple was found strangled in their Toronto home.

A real estate agent who was selling the $5.4 million home had discovered pharmaceutical mogul Barry, 75, and Honey, 70, dead on Dec. 15.

Apotex also donated medicines and supplies to Clinton Foundation Puerto Rican relief efforts in 2017.

A press release published by the Clinton Foundation after Hurricane Maria ravaged Puerto Rico last year seems to confirm this. Under a list of the companies that donated “medicines and supplies,” the foundation specifically named “Apotex Inc.”

Michael Bromwich, newly retained by Dr. Christine Blasey Ford for her legal team, cast doubt on his client’s commitment to appearing at the scheduled Thursday hearing where Ford is expected to personally level her uncorroborated charge of sexual assault by Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh at a drunken high school pool party decades ago.

In the letter replying to one by Mike Davis, Chief Counsel for Nominations , Bromwich implies that Ford is not one hundred percent committed to appear on Thursday, raising serious reservations about the Republican majority’s plan to have a sex crimes prosecutor question Ford, and stating the hearing plan “does not appear designed to provide Dr. Blasey with fair and respectful treatment.” Bromwich also complained that a “number of outstanding questions” about the hearing have not been answered.

Lisa Mothee came to Philadelphia Family Court last September confident she'd get the chance to tell her story, and hopeful that the Department of Human Services' case on the youngest of her five kids would be closed.

Yet, in the courtroom of Judge Lyris Younge, that's not what happened. After she answered questions about the birth of her daughter, the topic of her four older kids was raised – and Mothee wasn't permitted to speak. When she tried, according to a transcript, the judge cut her off: "Do not blurt out in court."

Then, Younge ordered Mothee, 31, and her fiance, Brian Colon, 30, of Olney, to be handcuffed and held until the kids could be claimed from school and from the babysitter, to be taken into protective custody.

"I didn't understand how something like this could happen," Mothee said. "I had all my documents ready, thinking I was going to get a fair hearing. And they tore us apart."

On Monday, another judge, Joseph Fernandes, who this week and last has been assigned to Younge's courtroom, took a total of 15 minutes to reverse the removal, allowing Mothee to reunite with her five children. By the afternoon, they were back home.

It's just the latest overturning of a ruling by Younge, who has faced blistering criticism and reversals from state appellate judges for violating due process and who, the Legal Intelligencer reported last week, is the subject of a probe by the state Judicial Conduct Board.

A spokesman for the courts would not comment on her status or whether she would return. The general counsel for the conduct board did not return messages.

"She took over a very difficult caseload," said Samuel Stretton, speaking as Younge's attorney. "The judge always looks out for the children. That's her priority."

He said that she is not suspended but rather took two weeks in chambers to catch up on an administrative backlog. Next week, she'll be on vacation. The week after that, she might return to the courtroom – or she might be reassigned, he said.

Lawyers and clients described a culture of fear and intimidation in her courtroom, where in January she held a lawyer, Brian McLaughlin, in contempt for being late to represent a mother in a contested hearing. Karen Deanna Williams, McLaughlin's lawyer, said he wasn't late: He'd waited in Younge's courtroom for an hour and a half before being called to another courtroom on a separate matter. She called Younge's court order in the case fraudulent and possibly criminal. And, she alleged, Younge held the contempt hearing without any notice to McLaughlin. A Superior Court judge removed Younge from the case.

"She's done any number of things in specific cases, all of which go to denial of litigants' due process," she said. "That's the overarching theme. Each case has a denial of due process or several denials, in separating families or not allowing children to go with their grandparents."

'Everybody has been dealing with the same issue'

Mothee said she has connected with 25 families who shared similar claims – that Younge would not allow them to present evidence or testimony before she moved quickly to remove their children, in some cases going even further than the city Department of Human Services' recommendation.

Mothee had feared retaliation, but hoped that if all the families spoke up together they could prevail. They've been holding protests outside TV stations and the courthouse.

"Everyone has been dealing with the same issue," she said.

In interviews, the families all said the same thing: "She wouldn't let me speak." "My lawyer wasn't allowed to talk." "I never got to testify."

GOP Sen. John Cornyn (Texas), a member of the Judiciary Committee, told reporters he would defer to Grassley on the timing of the vote but "Friday would be possible."
