What is the purpose of the general OP? What is it supposed to do? Boost morale? Okay, that's accomplished thusly:
>HAVE FAITH.
>YOU WERE CHOSEN FOR A REASON.
>YOU ARE BEING PROVIDED THE HIGHEST LEVEL OF INTEL TO EVER BE DROPPED PUBLICLY IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD.
>USE IT - PROTECT AND COMFORT THOSE AROUND YOU.
>WHERE WE GO ONE, WE GO ALL.
>Q
What else should it do? It should be a functional, efficient directory of useful information. This is accomplished via the sections: Q's board; Latest Q-posts; Board rules; FAQ; Quick acess tools; Resources library; Recent/notable posts; Tasks.
Notice current dough is filled with superfluous text that disrupts the flow of that information - and its wildly and inconsistently variable font size and coloration doesn't help either.
Some of it restates well-known information that already is or could/should be available elsewhere - and linked in the OP itself. That way users are free to preview and pursue it at their discretion, and it isn't forced as clutter on those who don't need it. For example, while the below is good news, since morale's been addressed previously there is no clear utility in its inclusion in the OP nor any reason why it couldn't instead be included in, say, the FAQ (or anywhere else, I don't care):
>There are over 9,294 sealed indictments in federal courts from 10/30 to 12/22. Each set as a remote explosive in the take down of the worlds largest syndicate of evil.
>There have been Thousands of pedophilia-related arrests and sting operations since the day Trump got into office. Millions of children have been saved by stopping this now.
>As of January 4, 2018, 39 representatives will not seek re-election to their U.S. House districts and an additional 12 have announced upcoming resignations.
>Over 40 CEO's of major companies have or announced their resignations.
>There are no coincidences.
(Last line is worthless, as per below: who is it trying to convince? We all already know this.)
Some of it is also completely worthless given that, again, morale has already been addressed at the beginning of the OP. For example, the following contains nothing particularly useful and was clearly only added because some individual found it subjectively appealing:
>>Perhaps he could not in good conscious see the world burn.
>Can you?
>Suit up lads, we will have Peace through the Strength of our Understanding and give Clarity through our Memetic Spread.
>You know what to do.
>โEnlighten the people generally, and tyranny and oppressions of the body and mind will vanish like evil spirits at the dawn of day.โ โ Thomas Jefferson
>We are the dot connectors. We are the excavators of obscured facts. We are who we've been waiting for our whole lives. We are the Storm, and we are the Calm Center inside it.
(This encompasses 10 lines, including blanks, and 3 colors and 2 sizes of both bold and plain text)
Other portions of it are incorrectly designated as separate sections, when they would better fit within an existing one. This contributes to information overload which, ultimately, is the problem with all of this that I hope to hereby resolve. For example, OPS general should go under resources or tasks just like various other threads - if you wish to indicate its relative importance, simply place it higher-up on the list where it's more visible. There is no reason why it merits a separate category all its own, which obfuscates the OP overall and artificially inflates its own importance.
As I was banned for trying to explain this last night, I should clarify I'm not trying to sow any kind of discord. I genuinely believe in the importance of having a highly functional, readable and efficient OP - which several others have added, they've enjoyed. I want the best for this place and its researchers. I do not believe it is in our own best interest to have an OP that is in any way difficult to navigate. I believe that hinders readability, usability, and ultimately research.
If somebaker reads this and finds it reasonable and to their liking, I'd suggest adding it to the dough as a guide to other bakers. I have experience as an editor and personally curate the FAQ, and am willing to add to it as needed. Let's work together for a better bread. You can reach me here or
