The QAnon conspiracy

A convoluted theory gains enough internet traction to warrant media coverage, which in turn attracts even more conspiracy theorists into the fold.

The internet has made it easier than ever before to evangelize on behalf of a conspiracy theory. But this week, the missionaries for QAnon used their physical bodies to spread the word, with T-shirts and a paper sign, “We are Q,” aimed at the cameras covering President Trump’s campaign rally.

People noticed, including journalists. The signs became mainstream news, and the news of QAnon spread. On Reddit’s “Great Awakening” discussion board, devoted to QAnon and its supporters, a user wrote, “QAnon is finally trending on Twitter!”

QAnon is as convoluted as any other conspiracy theory out there but with one distinguishing feature: QAnon is the result of a twisted sort of optimism. It gives the people who believe in the conspiracy internet hope that a reckoning is about to hit.

The layers of the conspiracy go like this: Take your standard Democratic pedophilia ring and world-domination fantasy, but that’s only the base, like the crust of a pizza. Onto this, you layer a fantasy in which Trump, while posing as a flailing president in public, is secretly orchestrating a crackdown on the entire cabal. Trump is working behind the scenes with special counsel Robert Mueller III, whose real federal investigation is aimed at the Clintons. Trump has loyalists spread through the U.S. intelligence agencies, which are otherwise dens of the cabal. The crackdown is imminent. It’s always imminent, and it will be glorious.

Better yet, we don’t need to simply wait in ignorance, because a high-level operative in Trump’s alliance has for the last nine months been communicating with the public through cryptic posts on an anonymous internet forum.

It took a paper sign reading “I am Q” to bring the conspiracy theory to its latest threshold of visibility. Enjeti decided not to ask the White House about QAnon. But now, as curiosity about it is spreading, the conspiracy is becoming a series of explanatory articles.

Phillips said that when journalists become involved in reporting on things like QAnon, conspiracy evangelists benefit from the core belief that drives journalism itself – to provide the public with truthful information.

“The problem is that the information is exactly what the evangelists want. It risks bringing more people into the story who can be converted,” Phillips said.

“These reports, they are serving an important function even as they are doing the worst possible thing they could do.”

Hillary Clinton’s Security Clearance Removed in August, Judiciary Committee Reveals

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s security clearance was removed at her request on Aug. 30, according to a letter (pdf) from the State Department to the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Clearances for five other people Clinton designated as researchers have also been withdrawn on Sept. 20, including Clinton’s close aide Cheryl Mills, the State Department said in the Sept. 21 letter.

The letter blacks out the names of other four other Clinton “researchers” whose security clearances were withdrawn.

The State Department has required the Judiciary Committee to protect the information in the letter. The Committee Chairman, Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), authorized to release the letter following consultation with the State Department, according to an Oct. 12 news release from the committee.

In the letter, the State Department said that a “two-step process” is employed to identify classified information and security incidents in documents which passed through Clinton’s unauthorized email server.

The Department’s Bureau of Administration first reviews the documents received from the FBI to identify agency records and determine the current classification of documents. This process was “completing” at the time when the letter was written.

A subset of documents identified as containing classified information “was then reviewed” by Diplomatic Security. All identified and valid security incidents have been forwarded to the Bureau of Diplomatic Security’s Office of Personnel Security and Suitability.

“All valid security incidents are reviewed by DS [Diplomatic Security] and taken into account every time an individual’s eligibility for access to classified information is considered,” the State Department wrote in the letter.

Clinton Private Email Server

Clinton’s use of a private email server while serving as secretary of state has become the focus of a criminal probe by the FBI.

The FBI’s investigation has been criticized for multiple irregularities, including the drafting by then-FBI Director James Comey of his exoneration statement of Clinton well before the investigation was concluded. Comey had also testified under oath before Congress that he had been instructed by then-Attorney General Loretta Lynch to refer to the investigation as a “matter” rather than a “criminal investigation.”

The FBI’s probe, which focused on whether classified material was sent via the private email server, was complicated by the fact that at least 33,000 emails were deleted by Clinton’s team.

After her lawyers identified the emails to be deleted, Clinton staffer Paul Combetta used a program called BleachBit to permanently delete the emails from the server.

In announcing the findings of the FBI’s investigation of Clinton, Comey said at least 110 evaluated emails were deemed to contain classified information. Eight email chains were deemed “top secret” and 36 “secret.”

The FBI’s analysis, however, did not include the emails that had been deleted by Clinton’s staff.

BBC to Fight ‘Heteronormative Culture’ with Gender-Neutral Pronouns, ‘Straight Ally’ Badges

The BBC is to fight a “heteronormative culture” with a raft of pro-LGBT reforms, despite figures showing sexual minorities are already overrepresented as much as fivefold in the broadcaster’s workforce.

Staff will be told to use gender-neutral pronouns for workers who say they are “non-binary” — identifying as neither male or female — under new BBC policies, which also detail plans to put additional support in place for transgender individuals, especially while they are “transitioning”.

Workforce training on diversity, inclusion, and “unconscious bias” will also be expanded to include LGBT issues, while non-heterosexual mentors will guide less senior staff who identify as a sexual minority.

Teams working in television, news and radio broadcasting have been told to increase representation of sexual minorities, specifically that they insert more “incidental” portrayals of LGBT relationships and individuals not directly related to a storyline or news item.

In addition, the BBC said it will raise the profile of employees who are not heterosexual and urge them to “bring their whole self to work”.

‘Straight Ally’ badges will be handed out to heterosexual members of staff.

The reforms were brought in following an internal survey of 300 LGBT members of staff, who called for “improvement” in a number of areas including the demand that the BBC adopt the umbrella term LGBTQ+ for sexual minorities so as to be “inclusive” towards people who claim to belong to identities other than Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender, including ‘Queer’.

James Purnell, director of radio and education, said: “One of our big challenges currently is around young audiences.

“In a recent YouGov survey only 51 percent of 18 to 24-year-olds said they identified as completely heterosexual.

“An organisation that appears to have a heteronormative culture is not one that is going to cut ice with them either as a consumer or an employee.”

As Breitbart London reported last year, official government figures showing that just 4.1 per cent of 16 to 24-year-olds reported themselves to be lesbian, gay, or bisexual (LGB) was published just a week after an Ipsos Mori poll for the BBC showed only 66 per cent of young people said they were heterosexual.

At Powergen, the graduates (Daldry, Marr and Tomlinson) and programmers (Rimington, Maningham-Buller and Scarlett) strapped me to a table and put a metal band around my head. "This Is Only The Beginning" - Antifa Vandalizes NYC Republican Club

Antifa just handed the Republican Party yet another messaging victory that will only help propel the simmering backlash to leftist "mob rule". In a gesture that was intended to put New York City Republicans "on notice," members of Antifa vandalized the Metropolitan Republican Club building, located on NYC's Upper East Side, breaking windows and doors and defacing the facade with "anarchist" symbols, according to the New York Times. In a note left with the vandalism suggested that the damage to the left at the scene, the vandals declared that the attack was related to a planned appearance by Gavin McInnes, the founder of the Proud Boys, a conservative group that has publicly battled with leftist groups at rallies, protests and demonstrations across the US.

Idlib Deconfliction Agreement Shrinks: Militants Shell Government Targets In Northwestern Hama

On October 13, radical militants shelled the town of al-Bahsa and a base of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) in the northwestern Hama countryside with mortars and Grad rockets in a clear violation of the Russian-Turkish deconfliction agreement.

A source in the SAA told SouthFront that two soldiers of the SAA were killed and another one was injured as a result of the militant shelling. Furthermore, several civilians building in al-Bahsa were damaged.
