Ethanol has been used in cars since Henry Ford designed his 1908 Model T to operate on alcohol. Trillions of miles have been driven on ethanol-blended fuel since 1980. In fact, several teams in national and international racing competitions, including Formula 1, Championship Drag Racing and NASCAR, use ethanol because of its high octane and exceptional performance.

What is E10? E10 is a 10% ethanol-blended fuel. Today all vehicles can run on E10, which is interchangeable with gasoline. Since 2010, nearly all gasoline sold in the United States has contained 10% ethanol.

Sorry, but this is bullshit Q.

1) Any economist worth his salt knows that subsidizing any industry introduces perverse incentives into the market.

2) Ethanol production fucks up the entire ag marketplace. Corn is being produced that can be used for feed for cattle. Farmers benefit, but everyone else pays more for food.

3) Most of the arguments about "helping our poor farmers" are bullshit. 90% of food crops are produced by huge corporate farms… the myth of the "family farm" must end.

4) Ethanol causes you to get WORSE gas mileage, to the point where it costs MORE PER MILE to operate your vehicle.

I drive a 2008 Chevy Impala V6, 3500 Flex fuel vehicle.

• E85 gives me 15MPG @ $2.40/Gal

• E10 Low Grade 87 Octane gives me 20MPG @ $2.75/Gal

• Non-ethanol 91 Octane gives me 26MPG @ $3/Gal

What you do is take that price per gallon divided by the miles you get per gallon to arrive at a "price per mile" figure.

E85 = 2.40 / 15 = $0.16 / mile

E10 = 2.75 / 20 = $0.1375 / mile

Non-Ethanol = 3 / 26 = $0.1154 / mile

That's a HUGE difference in operating costs per mile! Ethanol is a HUGE boondoggle!

Google Is Walking on the Razor's Edge – Cyber Security Expert

Google has said that in the next 10 months it plans to shut down its social network Google Plus after discovering massive security vulnerability. The network’s users have had their personal data exposed since 2015. The app reportedly got access to full names, email addresses, birth dates, gender, profile photos, occupation and other information.

The amount of users affected by this breach is estimated at nearly half a million. Sputnik has discussed the issue with Fow Chee Kang, associate director and cyber security managing consultant at LGMS.

Sputnik: What do you think about the fact that Google knew about these holes and this access to personal data and didn’t say anything to the public?

Fow Chee Kang: The things that come into my mind are revenue and reputational damage to the company;

Because when there’s anything related to user privacy or information leakage, they will be placed under the global highlight which would make them look very bad in the market. This has been proven in previous cases.

Sputnik: Doesn’t it make them look bad when they don’t say anything? And then they say "by the way, for the past three years somebody has had access to your data and we didn’t tell you because we didn’t want to ruin our reputation."

Fow Chee Kang: I will agree on that. But it seems like they’re walking on knife where they just want to buy on luck in this case, until they were exposed and in this case right now it’s been all over the news.

Sputnik: This is Google which everybody thinks of as the apex of search engines and tech companies, and here they are with this hole in data and it was allowing all of this information to be leaked. There are possibly half a million people that were affected by this; are there any legal ramifications for not reporting such things? We really don’t have much information on that; this tech stuff and private information is a new territory, and there doesn’t seem to be much legal support to understand who is responsible for this and if anybody should have to pay a fine or take responsibility for it? What does the law say regarding this? Can Google get sued?

Fow Chee Kang: This happened back in 2015, but if you talk about the regulatory requirements in the US, I’m afraid I might not be able to comment on that.

In terms of the release from the GDPR it has some requirements that say that if you are having these kinds of security vulnerabilities or bugs you must disclose it within 72 hours. This breach failed to comply to it. This was only compliance requirement so in this case I’m still not sure if this applies to them. But this is one of the things they may want to look into.

A Google whistleblower revealed to The Intercept that the company secretly plans to bring back its search engine to China, but search terms about human rights, democracy, religion, and peaceful protests will be censored. Many believe this move will normalize China's censorship, which may spread to other nations that choose to use its system as a template.

The plan is part of project “Dragonfly,” a mobile search app that Google believes will offer “better” research results than Chinese competitor Baidu. However, the app will also censor many news and information sites such as BBC and Wikipedia, and it will “blacklist sensitive queries” that the Chinese Community Party may not want its citizens to discover. The project was known only to a few hundred employees inside the company, similar to how Project Maven was also kept secret, as the leadership feared backlash from the more ethical employees.

“I’m against large companies and governments collaborating in the oppression of their people, and feel like transparency around what’s being done is in the public interest,” the Google employee told the publication.

He also feared that “what is done in China will become a template for many other nations.”

Patrick Poon, a Hong Kong-based researcher with human rights group Amnesty International, told The Intercept that Google’s return to China signifies a win for the Chinese government and its censorship regime. According to him if the world’s largest organizer of information in the world agrees to China’s censorship terms, then it sends the message that nobody else should bother challenging the Chinese censorship, either.

Google’s Brief Absence In China

Back in 2010, Google made the decision to exit China. The primary reason over this was the fact that the Chinese government was forcing the company to censor search results. However, only months earlier, the Chinese government had hacked Google’s servers, which likely played a major role in the decision to quit China, too.

Google was never the dominant search player in China. Its main competitor, the local search engine company Baidu, had the dominant position, so it wasn’t that difficult for Google to make that decision at the time.

Since then, Google has developed Android into what some would say is a global mobile operating system monopoly, which has made the company billions of dollars. However, although Android is used by all Chinese smartphone manufacturers, the Google Play Store isn’t. According to a previous report, the Chinese spent $35 billion on mobile apps in 2017 alone, so Google missed on all of that revenue, despite its mobile OS dominating China.

Recently, Google started making some moves in China such as launching several new apps for the Chinese market, as well as investing $550 million into JD.com, an ecommerce giant in China.

Police find 500 videotapes in home of suspected serial rapist

Michigan police found nearly 500 videotapes in the home of a rape suspect and now have to modernize them in order to see if he is responsible for assaults going back decades, officials said.

"We believe he videotapes the sex assaults while he commits them. Once we view them, we are going to try and identify additional victims," Leyton told WEYI-TV.

Ethanol attracts water and it breaks down faster than gasoline.

With water absorbing into the fuel, there's the chance that rust will form on the interior of the engine. The particles that get into the gas from rust flakes will clog up the fuel filter sooner.
