It easier to meet them at that idea/belief using a sauce they already trust and are invested in already.

When thinking about persuasion, its not you the messenger and what makes sense to you that matters (although I am Christian too, like the Evangelicals but not an Evangelicals), you have to meet them at a point that is determined by your target audience beliefs and map of reality, if that makes sense.
