Justice Ginsburg will be hosted by the University at Buffalo School of Law, the Bar Association of Erie County, the Western New York Chapter of the Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York, and the Minority Bar Association of Western New York. She will spend part of the day speaking and teaching students at the UB School of Law and will be the special guest at an evening program at Kleinhans Music Hall for members and guests of the legal community.

Justice Ginsburg was invited to Buffalo last year by Buffalo attorney Wayne D. Wisbaum, who passed away in December. Wisbaum knew the justice during their college years at Cornell University and maintained a long-term friendship with her. Her visit to Buffalo is dedicated in his memory.

During a ceremony at UB, SUNY Chancellor Kristina M. Johnson will present Justice Ginsburg with an Honorary Doctoral Degree in Law awarded by the State University of New York and approved by the SUNY Board of Trustees.

“Justice Ginsburg’s strong voice supporting gender equality, an independent judiciary, separation of church and state, and human rights deeply resonates with our mission as a law school,” said Aviva Abramovsky, dean of the UB School of Law.

“She is a powerful symbol of the most fundamental values of our nation and our legal system,” said Marianne Mariano, president of the Bar Association of Erie County. “We are thrilled and delighted to welcome her to Buffalo.”

Justice Ginsburg grew up in Flatbush, Brooklyn, during the Depression. She attended James Madison High School, and studied at Cornell University where she graduated at the top of her class. She went on to Harvard Law School and then Columbia Law School, graduating in 1959– once again, first in her class.

Even so, because she was a woman, not a single New York City law firm would give her a job. She later became the first woman to be a tenured professor at Columbia Law School.

During the 1970s, she argued a number of women’s rights cases at the Supreme Court at a time when female lawyers before the court were rare. Appointed by President Bill Clinton, she became a Supreme Court justice in 1993, the second female justice, after Sandra Day O’Connor.

She is now joined by two other New York women on the court: Sonia Sotomayor from the Bronx and Elena Kagan from Manhattan.

On Saturday (5/11) I was checking the board while watching the livestream of Pompeo from the Claremont Insitute, and saw the first "Trust Kansas" post above. The picture was obviously FROM the ongoing livestream, but made no mention of that. Only someone currently watching would know that, so I took the post as from Q, and as an injunction to promote the livestream, as it might have something big.

(As it happens, some "Anon" responded to an earlier version of THIS post, claiming to have posted the "Trust Kansas" pic and claiming NOT to be Q. "Anon" points to the filename as evidence: it is a jpeg and the implication is that Q knows you are not supposed to post jpegs as they cause some error. But clearly this poster ALSO knows you should not post jpegs, and yet did it anyway, and is CITING that fact, and this absurdity turns out to be additional evidence that the poster really is Q.)

I was watching the livestream since I saw an "Anon" point out that Pompeo would be at Claremont with Michael Anton, author of "The Flight 93 Election". I had suspected the Storm might hit that night, and when I saw this I wondered if Pompeo would make some reference to Anton as a setup, so I watched carefully.

Pompeo said "reawakening" but at the end I was somewhat puzzled, since there was no mention of Anton or Flight 93. But then I thought about one line that puzzled me, and yet had seemed a letdown. Pompeo began by thanking some who were affiliated with Claremont, including his two speechwriters, who he said were responsible for his Leo Strauss joke. And yet there turned out to BE no Leo Strauss joke…

Let's Step back… Leo Strauss was a political philosopher known for studying how historical political writers used coded language to communicate in ways that allow them to avoid persecution and censorship while still effectively getting their message out. (Hmmm… sounds like…)

I was specifically looking for some reference to Anton as I watched, and when Pompeo mentioned Strauss, I had immediately caught that as the setup. But I was waiting for a joke that never came. But then I realized: that is the joke! They planned that I would watch the speech looking for the Anton reference, and knew that I would catch the Strauss setup, but would be puzzled by the lack of a joke… but would finally catch that the lack of a joke WAS the joke, and that they had ALREADY made me catch the Anton reference INDIRECTLY, just by mentioning Strauss.

I didn't know where they were going with this, but figured I was supposed to post my analysis of the joke when I got it, so I did, and some "Anon" responded with a comic panel suggesting that Strauss was a bad dude who influenced the neocons, who viewed ordinary Americans as cannon fodder and sought to use Strauss to establish totalitarianism:

Pompeo's speech had no such quote on Strauss, but one of my own earlier posts did, and I surmised "Anon" was referring to that. It was part of a multi-part post arguing that Anton is "Q" and that they will use the "Let's Roll!" meme:

Not so long ago I would have found it INSANE to believe that some random line in a speech by the Secretary of State was part of a setup for me to promote something I had posted on the internet months ago. Now I think that is pretty much the actual situation. Engaging with the Q op is really much more akin to engaging with Plato than to engaging with a snake oil merchant, and it is all well and good if someone has been deceived and doesn't know that, but anyone who actually argues for the contrary is literally an uneducated fool, and it is going to be important the people come to grips with this fact quickly when this all goes public.

The Border Patrol will soon transport 500 migrants a month from the border to Palm Beach and Broward Counties, according to Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw.

PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. — The Border Patrol will soon transport 500 migrants a month from the border to Palm Beach and Broward Counties, according to Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw.

"It's not a good plan," Sheriff Bradshaw said at a news conference Thursday afternoon. "We think it's a danger to our community, and it's gonna put a real strain on what the resources are."

Sheriff Bradshaw said the Border Patrol in Miami informed him that the migrants will be "family units," and they'll be released into the community pending an asylum hearing.

"They're gonna be given a notice to appear," said Sheriff Bradshaw. "How many people do you think are coming back? Zero."

The sheriff said the migrants could start coming to Palm Beach County in just two weeks.

"No accommodations for transportation, no accommodations for shelter," said Sheriff Bradshaw. "Just no real plan for what's gonna happen to these 500 people a month that's gonna come to Palm Beach County and be released into the community."

The sheriff added his agency is already stretched thin between homelessness, the Hepatitis A outbreak, and other issues, and will have trouble handling this surge of migrants.

"To take this type of influx of illegal immigrants into Palm Beach County is a public safety problem," said Sheriff Bradshaw. "What kind of health conditions do they have? What are they gonna do when they get here?"

According to our news partner NBC 6, Broward Mayor Mark Bogen said the Trump Administration will send two planes a week to South Florida, carrying a total of 270 migrants, as part of its effort to relieve the migrant population along the Texas border. The people will be equally divided between Palm Beach and Broward Counties, Bogen said.

"This is a humanitarian crisis," Bogen told NBC 6. "We will do everything possible to help these people. If the President will not provide us with financial assistance to house and feed these people, he will be creating a homeless encampment."

President Trump spoke about the immigration plan Thursday afternoon at the White House Rose Garden.

"We must implement an immigration system that will allow our citizens to prosper for generations to come," the president said.

There are increasing worries that Donald Trump’s special adviser and son-in-law, Jared Kushner, specifically requested Top Secret intelligence files to pass gleaned information to Israeli intelligence. WMR has learned from knowledgeable sources that Kushner’s compromise of National Security Agency and allied FIVE EYES partners’ intercepts of foreign leaders led to his losing his temporary access to Top Secret/Special Compartmented Information (SCI).

According to our sources, NSA intelligence analysts became suspicious when Israeli companies specializing in not only gathering signals intelligence (SIGINT) information, but also protecting against such collection, began aggressively marketing their services to particular countries, especially those in Africa.

Kushner has already been accused of passing NSA communications intercept transcripts on key government and business leaders in Saudi Arabia to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MbS). After determining who in the House of Saud and Saudi business community were opposed to his rise to power, MbS singled them out for arrest and torture. In a few cases, MbS’s targets were executed.

NSA fears that not only transcripts of its intercepts of Saudi officials were passed by Kushner to MbS, but also to the Israeli government. This not only compromised targets of NSA’s wide surveillance net, but also the agency’s sensitive sources and methods for collecting such intelligence.

What alarmed NSA officials more than anything else is their observation that Israeli signals intelligence (SIGINT) companies, comprised of former SIGINT officers with Israel’s Unit 8200 communications intercept agency, began aggressively marketing offensive and defensive SIGINT capabilities to other countries. These countries are routine targets for NSA collection efforts. Through the use of the joint NSA-Central Intelligence Agency Special Collection Service (SCS), intercepts of diplomatic, military, and other official communications are provided in either full or abridged transcript form to cleared U.S. policymakers. These are the files that were routinely requested by Kushner for no apparent reason, raising eyebrows within the upper echelon of the National Security Council. One of those who raised concerns about Kushner’s “curiosity” for such information was Lt. General H. R. McMaster, who was recently fired by Trump, largely at the urging of Kushner and his wife, Ivanka Trump. National Security Adviser John Bolton, a pro-Israeli neoconservative, has vowed to fire those who questioned Kushner’s motives and those of his father-in-law in not taking immediate steps to curtail Kushner’s access to such intelligence.

Mueller: Someone in Congress might have tried to stop Michael Flynn from cooperating

A newly unsealed document from special counsel Robert Mueller said someone in Congress might have tried to get retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn to not cooperate with the Russia investigation. The 448-page Mueller report, released last month with redactions, shows that President Trump's team may have sought to influence Flynn, who assisted Trump's 2016 campaign and briefly served as national security adviser in 2017. In the filing given to the U.S. District Court of the District of Columbia on Thursday, Mueller suggested a wider effort.

Over the course of 19 interviews, Flynn "informed the government of multiple instances, both before and after his guilty plea, where either he or his attorneys received communications from persons connected to the Administration or Congress that could have affected both his willingness to cooperate and the completeness of that cooperation," Mueller wrote.

The document unsealed on Thursday is an addendum to the government's memo in aid of sentencing Flynn, who admitted to lying to the FBI about his contacts with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak and reached a plea deal with Mueller's team. The five-page document provides insight on the "significance and usefulness" of Flynn.

The section on potential efforts to interfere with the Special Counsel's Office's investigation said Flynn "provided a voicemail recording of one such communication" and in some of the instances Mueller's team examined, the special counsel "was unaware of the outreach until being alerted to it by the defendant."

The Mueller report appears to mention this voicemail in his report. "After Flynn withdrew from a joint defense agreement with the President and began cooperating with the government, the President’s personal counsel left a message for Flynn’s attorneys reminding them of the President’s warm feelings towards Flynn, which he said 'still remains', and asking for a 'heads up' if Flynn knew 'information that implicates the President,'" Mueller's report said. "When Flynn’s counsel reiterated that Flynn could no longer share information pursuant to a joint defense agreement, the President’s personal counsel said he would make sure that the President knew that Flynn’s actions reflected 'hostility' towards the President.'"

U.S. District Judge Emmet G. Sullivan, who is overseeing Flynn's case, ordered the transcripts of the voicemail and any other audio recordings of Flynn’s conversations with Russians made public by May 31. Mueller also said that Flynn gave "useful information" about discussions among Trump campaign officials about WikiLeaks' release of emails stolen from the Democratic National Committee and John Podesta, the chairman of Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign, and provided "firsthand information about the content and context of interactions between the transition team and Russian government officials."

Flynn has yet to be sentenced and is still working with Justice Department prosecutors in criminal case against Bijan Kian, his former lobbying partner who worked for the Turkish government. He faces up to five years in prison.

SpaceX postpones Starlink satellite launch again, for 'about a week'

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (Reuters) - A SpaceX launch already scrubbed once due to inclement weather was postponed again nearly 24 hours later on Thursday, this time for “about a week,” in order to update satellite software and “triple-check everything,” Elon Musk’s rocket company said.

The delayed mission is designed to carry into low-Earth orbit an initial batch of 60 satellites for Musk’s new Starlink global internet service, a venture intended to generate cash for the rest of the billionaire entrepreneur’s space exploration ambitions.

The Falcon 9 rocket and its satellite cargo were originally set to blast off from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida on Wednesday night, but the flight was postponed by Space X, citing excessive winds over the launch site.

The launch was rescheduled for Thursday night, and SpaceX said in a midday Twitter message that the “Starlink and Falcon 9 are looking good” and that “winds are better for tonight’s launch.” Hours later, however, the company tweeted that the mission was being delayed.

“Standing down to update satellite software and triple-check everything again,” the company said. “Always want to do everything we can on the ground to maximize mission success. Next launch opportunity in about a week.”

No further elaboration was provided to reporters at the Cape.
