DOCUMENTS: CIA SUCCESSFULLY PRESSURED MICHAEL BAY TO CHANGE BENGHAZI MOVIE

The CIA released a batch of documents detailing how their Office of Public Affairs (OPA) staff met with the film director Michael Bay and successfully leaned on him to make changes to the script to “13 Hours.”

The 2016 action thriller is the only major movie Hollywood has produced about the attacks on the United States Special Mission in Benghazi and the nearby CIA annex.

It grossed less than $70 million against a $50 million budget and is the least commercially successful film Bay has ever produced. While audiences rated “13 Hours” more highly than critics, the film’s attempt to capitalize on the politics of the Benghazi attacks largely failed.

On the night of September 11, 2012, a mob attacked the State Department’s outpost in Benghazi, setting fire to the main residence and murdering ambassador Chris Stevens, who was in town for a visit from the U.S. embassy in Tripoli, as well as another State employee.

Several of the CIA’s Global Response Staff (GRS)—military veterans contracted by the CIA to provide security for their bases—left the nearby CIA Annex to help defend the outpost. A few hours after they had rescued the survivors and returned to base a string of attacks hit the Annex, killing two GRS operators.

The documents released under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) reveal that Bay first approached the CIA in early March 2015, weeks before production started.

OPA staff were initially enthusiastic, according to emails. When one CIA officer pointed out that they were unlikely to support a film based on a book containing “unauthorized disclosures” another responded, “Dude, you’re such a Debbie Downer. Waaah, waaah.”

Israel summons 8-year-old Palestinian girl for interrogation

Israeli authorities yesterday summoned an eight-year-old Palestinian girl from the occupied West Bank city of Hebron for interrogation, making her the third minor to be called in for questioning this week.

According to sources who informed the Palestinian news agency Wafa, Israeli soldiers raided the home of Hebron resident Shadi Sadr last night and gave him a summons for his eight-year-old daughter Malak to appear at an interrogation centre. Her crime, the father was told, was allegedly harassing the military-backed Israeli settlers.

Kavanaugh later defended his testimony, labeling it "emotional" in an op-ed for The Washington Post. But he conceded that his "tone was sharp, and I said a few things I should not have said."

Source: NDNY Poised to Charge Raniere and Bronfman in November

According to a source who is highly familiar with the investigation into Keith Alan Raniere and Clare Webb Bronfman, the Northern District of NY [NDNY] is planning to indict the two leaders of Nxivm.

Raniere and Bronfman may be charged as soon as November, the source said.

Charges will include the four charges that were dismissed in the Eastern District of NY [EDNY] because of jurisdiction. The crimes occurred in the NDNY.

These charges are:

Sexual Exploitation of a Child – [Camila] – Keith Raniere.

Sexual Exploitation of a Child – [Camila] — Keith Raniere

Possession Of Child Pornography – Keith Raniere [He possessed nude pictures of Camila when she was 15 years old.]

Conspiracy to Commit Identity Theft – Clare Bronfman and others.

Other crimes, including immigration fraud, tax evasion, additional racketeering charges, and various sex-related crimes are still under investigation. Other defendants, such as Emiliano Salinas, Sara Bronfman, and Rosa Laura Junco are considered potential targets.

While it makes little difference to Raniere, who likely faces a lengthy sentence for the charges he has already been convicted of, if he faces additional charges, it may make a substantial difference to the future of Clare Bronfman.

Sentencing guidelines for Bronfman are 21-24 months for her conviction in the EDNY. She also paid a $6 million fine. With the additional charge [or more charges], her prison time may double.

Judge Nicholas Garaufis has postponed sentencing dates for all the defendants. They were originally scheduled for July and September. There is no set date for sentencing.

Our source tells us that the judge plans to sentence them in late October or early November – and that the postponements were caused by delays in getting the “Pre-Sentencing Reports” from the U.S. Probation Department.

It is believed the judge plans to sentence them in this order:

They will not all be sentenced on the same date.

While they await sentencing, all of them are under home arrest [some can go out by day] except Raniere who is still in custody at the Metropolitan Detention Center.

He has served 15 months of his sentence, awaiting trial, during the trial and post-conviction awaiting sentencing. By law, the minimum sentence he can get is 15 years for sex trafficking alone.

Our source tells us that Raniere will likely be held at MDC after sentencing until he is charged by the NDNY.

In terms of sentencing, the judge has great discretion.

The “Pre-Sentencing Reports” prepared by the U.S. Probation Department and letters sent to him [both pro and con from interested parties] and his own observations at trial can influence his sentencing decisions.

There are also sentencing guidelines which he is not bound to follow. Optics might also guide him.

His sentencing decisions will be highly publicized.

Judge Garaufis won’t be publicly criticized if he gives anyone a harsh sentence, but he might be condemned if he lets someone off with no prison time.

Soros Pours $5.1 Million Into New 2020 PAC

Liberal billionaire George Soros poured $5.1 million into a new political action committee that was quietly established earlier this year for the 2020 election cycle, filings show.

In early January, a statement of organization was filed to the Federal Election Commission to establish the Democracy PAC. The filing for the PAC listed Michael Vachon, Soros's spokesperson, as the PAC's treasurer.

Now, new semi-annual filings reveal that the financier pushed $100,000 into the Democracy PAC on Feb. 13 and $5,000,000 more into the committee on June 2. Soros is the only donor to the PAC as of June 30. During the first half of the year, the Democracy PAC disbursed $6,620.17 to the Perkins Coie law firm and $600 to NGP Van, a voter database and consulting company.

An individual familiar with the PAC told Politico Wednesday evening that Soros plans to use the entity to fund other liberal groups and organizations. "He has, unlike Tom Steyer or [Michael] Bloomberg, funded things like Senate Majority PAC and Priorities USA and EMILY's List and Planned Parenthood and expects to continue to do so," the source told the publication.

Michael Vachon, Soros's spokesman, did not respond to an inquiry on the PAC by press time.

This marks the first time the billionaire has made large-scale moves for the 2020 election cycle after so far only providing maxed out contributions to Reps. Tom Malinowski (D., N.J) and Pramila Jayapal (D., Wash.). A $2,800 contribution was also given to Sen. Jeanne Shaheen's (D., N.H.) campaign.

Soros, however, also cut hefty checks to a PAC that is primarily used to fund efforts where far-left district attorney candidates he backs are seeking office.

Soros deposited $110,000 into the Justice & Public Safety PAC on Feb. 2, according to its mid-year filings. The financier pushed another $975,000 into the PAC's coffers on April 17.

The Justice & Public Safety PAC's largest expenditure throughout the first half of the year was $190,000 to Parisa Dehghani-Tafti, who at the time was a candidate for Arlington County commonwealth's attorney. Tafti ultimately defeated Theo Stamos, the incumbent Democratic prosecutor, by just under 3 points.

Soros also supported Steve Descano, a candidate for Fairfax County commonwealth's attorney, who beat incumbent Democrat Ray Morrogh by just over 2 percentage points. Soros spent more than $1 million backing Tafti and Descana.

The Justice & Public Safety PAC disbursed $70,000 on June 20 to the New York Working Families Party, who was working to elect Tiffany Cabán, a candidate in the Democratic primary for Queens district attorney.

Cabán, who received help from the Democratic Socialists of America and was endorsed by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D.,N.Y.), declared victory following the June election. Ocasio-Cortez also took a victory lap on Twitter.

Following a recount, which concluded this week, Cabán was declared the loser of the race.

Additionally, Soros's Justice & Public Safety PAC donated $75,000 to New Virginia Majority, a group that organizes "within Latinx, African American, Asian American Pacific Islander, and youth communities, centering the leadership and demands of working class women of color." The civic engagement and issue advocacy group claims to have registered more than 200,000 Virginia voters and knocked on more than 1 million doors since 2015.

New filings also show Soros directly contributed $55,000 in April to the Youth Progressive Action Catalyst PAC, a youth-led group that connects young people directly to progressive candidates and campaigns. Soros donated $50,000 in May to the United for Progress PAC, whose primary purpose is to "build community-based political power and influence in the growing Puerto Rican and Latino constituencies in Florida."

Of course, there is a faint possibility that the whole Johnson business is a giant game of three-dimensional chess, and that he’s running an elaborate scam with no intention of getting Britain out. But, realistically, if that was the plan, there would be absolutely no purpose in delaying such a betrayal, still less in raising so many expectations.

To encourage and then dash such hopes would be ludicrously self-defeating, so we have to assume that Johnson and Co are serious and that – barring a series of events outside of their control, they WILL deliver Brexit.

So what has changed? Has the Europhile British elite suddenly had a change of heart and decided to do the decent thing by the people who pay their inflated salaries?

Of course not. Leopards don’t change their spots. But, in the case of the UK elite, it was always divided into two leopards, with very different spots. One of them, for years now the stronger animal, was blue with yellow, spots – a thoroughly European beast.

The colours of the, until recently, smaller animal are harder to discern. At first glance, they could be seen to resemble the American flag although, of course, that’s just part of the camouflage. Look closer and the thing’s coat actually looks more like a mass of intertwined dollar signs and Israeli flags!

Even within the USA, opinion has been divided on Britain’s membership of the European Union. Obama, for example, more or less ordered the Brits to vote to Remain – a factor in the decision of quite a few of them to vote to Leave! The neo-cons, by contrast, have become much more hostile to Brussels – particularly since the EU started to display alarming degrees of sympathy for the Palestinians.

It wasn’t always like that. During the Cold War, the US elite was more or less unanimously in favour of British membership of the EU, which right from the start was consistently promoted by the CIA as a block to balance the Soviet Union.

When the Communist regime collapsed in 1989, the US power elite gradually shifted its position on the EU. It moved from fervent support to a sort of agnostic, nothing to do with us boredom. But then it gradually became clear that the European Union was steadily becoming the pawn of the German industrial complex.

It remains to be seen whether the globalist kleptomaniacs behind the new regime will also find a way to turn the removal of EU subsidies into an opportunity to arrange a massive transfer of farmland in Britain from farmers, workers’ pension funds and the old landed aristocracy and into the hands of global corporations. If that’s on the agenda too, remember where you heard it first!

All the above presupposes, of course, that the juvenile and utterly irresponsible anti-Russian, anti-Iranian and anti-Chinese sabre-rattling – of which the Johnson regime is as guilty as its predecessors – doesn’t actually start World War Three. Because, if it does, there’ll be nothing left to privatise and loot except the last tin of beans in the irradiated rubble.

Don’t get me wrong: This is not to condemn Brexit. The British people voted for it, and its delivery will be a Good Thing (not least because it has added, and will continue to add, to the instability in the EU which has disrupted the efforts of its bureaucratic rulers to maintain a firmly anti-Russian line, and because, however imperfect, Brexit is a blow for national sovereignty against a particularly nasty little imperial project.

All of us who, one way or another, helped set in motion or advance the process which defeated the pro-EU whores who had sold Britain to Brussels can be rightly proud of having done their bit to break the claws of the largest leopard in the London-based elite.

But you can also be sure that the British majority are going to be mightily disappointed with the new Johnson regime leopard and how Brexit turns out. They voted to restore the old Britain, particularly the Old England. What they will get instead is an even faster dissolution than we saw under EU rule.

In May, Michael C. McGarrity, the FBI’s assistant director of the counterterrorism division, told Congress the bureau now “classifies domestic terrorism threats into four main categories: racially motivated violent extremism, anti-government/anti-authority extremism, animal rights/environmental extremism, and abortion extremism,” a term the bureau uses to classify both pro-choice and anti-abortion extremists.

The new focus on conspiracy theorists appears to fall under the broader category of anti-government extremism. “This is the first FBI product examining the threat from conspiracy theory-driven domestic extremists and provides a baseline for future intelligence products,” the document states.

In its statement, the FBI also said it can “never initiate an investigation based solely on First Amendment protected activity. As with all of our investigations, the FBI can never monitor a website or a social media platform without probable cause.”

Historian David Garrow, the author of a Pulitzer Prize-winning biography of Martin Luther King Jr. who has worked extensively with FBI archives, raised doubts to Yahoo News about the memo. He says the FBI’s default assumption is that violence is motivated by ideological beliefs rather than mental illness. “The guy who shot up the pizza place in D.C.: Do we think of him as a right-wing activist, or insane?” Garrow asked.

Joe Uscinski, an associate professor of political science at the University of Miami, whose work on conspiracy theories is cited in the intelligence bulletin, said there’s no data suggesting conspiracy theories are any more widespread now than in the past. “There is absolutely no evidence that people are more conspiratorial now,” says Uscinski, after Yahoo News described the bulletin to him. “They may be, but there is not strong evidence showing this.”

Yet the proliferation of the extremist categories concerns Michael German, a former FBI agent and now a fellow with the Brennan Center for Justice’s Liberty & National Security program. “It’s part of the radicalization theory the FBI has promoted despite empirical studies that show it’s bogus,” he said.

German says this new category is a continuing part of FBI overreach. “They like the radicalization theory because it justifies mass surveillance,” he said. “If we know everyone who will do harm is coming from this particular community, mass surveillance is important. We keep broadening the number of communities we include in extremist categories.”

Goldman Sachs is spending $100 million to shave milliseconds off stock trades

Goldman recently approved a three-year plan to spend more than $100 million to overhaul its stock trading platform, according to Mike Blum, a partner and chief technology officer of electronic trading.

Huge quant funds like Renaissance Technologies and Two Sigma are among the most demanding of clients from a technology perspective, and rivals Morgan Stanley and J.P. Morgan have been jockeying to serve quants.

“As we roll it out globally, they should absolutely see a massive speed improvement,” Blum said.

Goldman Sachs is taking aim at the world’s biggest quant hedge funds.

The investment bank recently approved a three-year plan to spend more than $100 million to overhaul its stock trading platform, according to Mike Blum, a Goldman partner and chief technology officer of electronic trading.

The project, named Atlas after the Greek God, is meant to accelerate the shift Goldman has been making since realizing in 2014 it was falling behind in Wall Street’s equities technological arms race. Huge quant funds like Renaissance Technologies and Two Sigma are among the most demanding of clients from a technology perspective, and competitors including Morgan Stanley and J.P. Morgan have been jockeying to serve these money managers.

“With this investment we’re trying to tackle the quantitative hedge fund space and do so front-to-back to create a seamless experience for our clients, and just try to get as efficient as they are at doing their jobs,” said Blum, a 25-year electronic trading veteran who joined Goldman in 2017.

Stock trading has become increasingly cutthroat as firms including Goldman, Morgan Stanley and J.P. Morgan have been winning a larger share of a shrinking pie. These three banks made $11.4 billion in stock trading revenue so far this year, 14% lower than 2018. All three have been investing money in the latest electronic trading technology as more of the world’s volumes shifts to screens.

Going after the big quants

With Atlas, Goldman is targeting more than a dozen quant funds, meant to represent a range of trading styles, on the theory that if they can satisfy this group, they can satisfy any type of hedge fund or asset manager client.

The project takes the technology in its core trading platform, designed for speed and reliability, and extends it to 32 markets around the world and in other functions, including clearing and settling trades, allocating stock, lending shares and trade reporting, Blum said.

“As we learned the quantitative client base and what their demands and needs were, we decided to take the technology and basically turned it into a framework that can be used to solve lots of different problems,” said Blum.

For the entirety of his career, which began at tiny South Carolina-based Automated Trading Desk in 1993, Blum has been working on and improving his approach to electronic trading.

The design philosophy that he and other e-trading pioneers have landed on: Using so-called microservices to break complicated problems into easy-to-solve ones, he said. With that, as well as a developer strategy known as event sourcing, Goldman’s system has become fast, customizable and reliable.

Microseconds

One goal was to improve the firm’s performance on trade orders that last a microsecond (a millionth of a second) to about 30 seconds, shorter-lived orders that the bank may have struggled with in the past, Blum said. In some instances, trades that took hundreds of milliseconds will happen faster than 100 microseconds, he said.

Some quants also send hundreds or thousands of trades simultaneously, and Atlas will be able to compress the time the bank takes to digests those orders, he said.

“As we roll it out globally, they should absolutely see a massive speed improvement,” Blum said. “They should see quality of execution go up, not just because of speed, but we’re completely rewriting our algorithms, we’ve brought in more researchers, more quants to improve our algos.”

Engel was responsible for the Caesar Civilian Protection Act, which was ostensibly introduced to increase economic sanctions against the Syrian government based upon claims made by an alleged former Syrian military photographer in the questionable Caesar Report. That report was commissioned by the government of Qatar, a Gulf State heavily invested in the financing of terrorist groups and the White Helmets in Syria.

The Caesar Civilian Protection Act will effectively collectively punish the Syrian people for resisting efforts to destabilize their country and topple their elected government in the time honored tradition of U.S. Coalition sanctions that can only be considered siege warfare or economic terrorism. The orchestrators of this vindictive measure clearly have their roots in the neoconservative camp in the U.S.

There are now two more elements of Cotler’s influence on the global stage that I would like to examine in some detail. Cotler has been at the forefront of the new cold war campaigns to criminalize Russia, but that warrants an entire article dedicated to Cotler’s war against the Russian government’s perceived “culture of corruption and criminality.” Cotler was instrumental in introducing the controversial “Magnitsky Law” (Justice for Victims of Corrupt Foreign Officials Act) in Canada to “fight Russian thuggery,” and for promoting the adoption of the Magnitsky Act by all aligned governments.

The Cotler-Dershowitz partnership

Alan Dershowitz, a controversial figure in his own right, has described Cotler as “his mirror image in Canada.” The Cotler-Dershowitz double act is a longstanding and powerful partnership with far-reaching influence among the world’s most powerful entities.

Cotler’s “human rights credentials are a sham” according to Engler. Much has been made of his role as legal advisor to late South African President Nelson Mandela. Yet South Africa’s ambassador to Venezuela, Pandit Thaninga Shope-Linney, apparently denies this claim, thus stripping Cotler of his most potent “humanitarian” identity. According to Engler, Mandela himself does not name Cotler in his biography, although he does mention other lawyers by name.

Cotler has been merciless in pursuit of China for its alleged record of “gruesome organ trade.” Why then does Cotler not equally condemn Israel for its appalling history of organ trafficking and theft, particularly in Palestine?

In 2009, Nancy Scheper-Hughes was Chancellor’s Professor of Medical Anthropology at the University of California Berkeley, the founder of Organ Watch and author of a number of academic books on organ trafficking. I have taken the following quote from an article by long-time author and journalist Alison Weir:

While Scheper-Hughes emphasizes that traffickers come from numerous nations and ethnicities, including Americans and Arabs, ‘Israel,’ she states, ‘is at the top. It has tentacles reaching out worldwide.’ … In a lecture last year she explained that Israeli organ traffickers ‘have a pyramid system at work that’s awesome…they have brokers everywhere, bank accounts everywhere; they’ve got recruiters, they’ve got translators, they’ve got travel agents who set up the visas.”

What is perhaps even more disturbing and ominous is the fact that Cotler has not addressed the accusations of organ trafficking levied against the White Helmets themselves by the Syrian civilians who were forced to live under their occupation in areas of Syria formerly under the control of terrorist groups partnered by the very organization that Cotler nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize 2019.

Cotler has not only defended the White Helmets, but he has also lauded them and invested his reputation in the whitewashing of their image. Cotler is a powerful sympathizer of the Israeli government and influencer with connections that reach into the darkest corners of state affairs in Canada, the U.S. and Israel. He has not chosen to ally himself with this fraudulent and criminal organization by chance.
