California lab says it discovered coronavirus vaccine in 3 hours

 

An American biotech company says it created a coronavirus vaccine three hours after getting access to the virus' genetic sequence on Jan. 9, and now scientists are racing to get the vaccine on the market in record time.

 

Inovio Pharmaceuticals is based in Pennsylvania, but scientists in its laboratory in San Diego made the discovery.

 

NEW CORONAVIRUS CASES SOAR, DEATHS RISE

 

"We have an algorithm which we designed, and we put the DNA sequence into our algorithm and came up with the vaccine in that short amount of time," Inovio's research and development director Dr. Trevor Smith told KVUE.

 

China has reported 254 new daily deaths and a spike in new daily virus cases of 15,152, after new methodology was applied in the hardest-hit province of Hubei as to how cases are categorized.

 

Inovio's vaccine for COVID-19, as health officials have named the virus, could be ready as early as this summer. Inovio's stock jumped to $5.32 a share a few days after the company announced it was selected to work on a coronavirus vaccine. Shares are now at $3.34, back to where they were a month ago.

 

The American company is partnering with Beijing Advaccine, a Chinese company, to work on the vaccine.

Kelly also questioned Trump’s intervention in the case of Eddie Gallagher, the Navy Seal convicted of posing with the body of a dead Isis fighter. "LONDON – Authorities in Australia are asking for the public's help in investigating the mysterious death of a teacher they believe was tied to a chair before being hit and killed by a truck on a major highway this week.

 

Anthony Stott, 43, of Brisbane, was struck early Monday morning on the M1 near Cudgera Creek, a coastal town in Australia's New South Wales state, about 80 miles south of Brisbane. Stott was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 7 a.m. local time, and the truck driver was taken to a local hospital, according to the New South Wales Police Service.

"Piecing together his movements in the 24 hours prior to his death is crucial," Tweed/Byron Police District Commander and Acting Superintendent Brendon Cullen said in a statement Wednesday. "I urge anyone who may have any information to contact Crime Stoppers."

Detectives investigating Stott's death later went to a home in Cudgera Creek, where they spoke with a 38-year-old woman and a 46-year-old man. The pair were subsequently arrested and charged with detaining a person with intent to obtain advantage, according to police.

 

Investigators allege the man and woman detained Stott and "tied him to a chair at the property," police said. It's unclear why Stott was at the property or how he got there and whether he was released or had escaped.

Both the man and woman, whose names have not been released, were refused bail by a judge Tuesday and they will appear in the same local court Monday, according to police.

Neff is guided in his coverage by his own perception of what students need to comprehend when studying international law. He describes the history of international law as the “scientific study of the emergence of order out of chaos.” How, he says in asking the eternal question, “is it possible–even in theory let alone in practice–to have a ‘legal system’ of any kind between states when there is no ruler to promulgate it? Where does it come from? And why is it obeyed?” International law for Neff, therefore, “is not so much a list of rules” as a response of states and the international community to the challenge of “devising answers” to these queries (p. 2).

 

His book, therefore, may be described as “the story for answers to these questions (and similar ones) over the course of human history” (p. 2). Neff’s concern is less for the actual substance of international law and more for how international law has been interpreted, how it has been applied in practice, and “above all” how the answers to the questions he raises have changed over the years. Thus Neff endorses the value of comparative international law. Indeed, he observes that it would be a “great error” to imagine international law to be a “single, unitary phenomenon” (p. 3). He enjoys maritime analogies: international law as a large ship subject to constant refittings; or as a river perpetually in flow but constantly eroding its banks, changing shape, sometimes in flood, other times drought.

Seems to me that Trump's position that the world should consist of sovereign nations with bilateral treaties between them, is a strong endorsement for the existence of international law.

 

He is rejecting the NWO view that all law should flow from one single global ruler. This makes sense for someone whose career is steeped in business competition, and making deals, because it values the flexibility for relationships to rearrange themselves based on circumstance. The NWO model is rigid and unyielding and would inevitably lead to disaster when circumstances change. That is because with one politically correct viewpoint, there is no alternative to rise up to prominence when the prevailing way of doing things proves to be no longer workable.

The U.S. government’s sale of 30-year bonds Thursday is likely to draw a record low yield near 2% after the Treasury rally spurred by the spread of the Wuhan coronavirus in China and around the world helped drive rates across the curve to multi-month lows.

 

Trading of Treasury securities leading into the auction suggests the new debt will yield around 2.08%. That’s below the all-time low of 2.17% for a 30-year sale that was achieved in October.

 

The Treasury Department auctions 30-year bonds every month – a new issue every three months that determines the coupon rate, followed by two re-openings of that same security to expand the size of the offering. Thursday’s sale, which is a new issue and takes place at 1 p.m. New York time, could also result in a record low coupon rate of 2% if it is awarded between 2% and 2.125%. Longer-dated yields rose in the immediate aftermath of last week’s quarterly refunding announcement, with the curve steepening after the Treasury left market participants with the impression that it won’t reduce 10- or 30-year auction sizes to accommodate new issuance at the 20-year tenor. The 30-year yield rose as high as 2.16%, although it has since pulled back to around 2.07%. That’s comfortably below the record low auction yield for the tenor, but still above last year’s record secondary-market low of 1.904%.

An American biotech company says it created a coronavirus vaccine three hours after getting access to the virus' genetic sequence on Jan. 9, and now scientists are racing to get the vaccine on the market in record time.

 

Inovio Pharmaceuticals is based in Pennsylvania, but scientists in its laboratory in San Diego made the discovery.

 

"We have an algorithm which we designed, and we put the DNA sequence into our algorithm and came up with the vaccine in that short amount of time," Inovio's research and development director Dr. Trevor Smith told KVUE.

Barclays CEO “Deeply Regrets’ Ties With Jeffery Epstein As Probe Launched

 

Chief Executive Officer of Barclays Jes Staley said he “deeply regrets” a relationship with disgraced financier Jeffery Epstein as an investigation was launched by Britain’s two main regulators on Thursday.

Locals in various countries refer to it as “The Clinton List”. Most people are familiar with this list, but many are not aware that Bill Clinton is the one who put this law in place. It’s a hell of a database containing names, addresses, known connections, and unique registry or taxpayer ID. Those working ports must cross-reference the list when allowing cargo through. In the right hands, that database would be highly beneficial – in the wrong hands, it could be detrimental by controlling and monopolizing the drug industry.

Netanyahu did not clarify what kind of 'promotion' he was referring to. However, in the past he has praised American politicians for taking steps against the global Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaign for Palestinian rights, which he called “anti-Semitic” and a threat to Israel.

 

A total of 28 US states adopted various laws penalizing companies and individuals for supporting BDS and engaging in boycotts of Tel Aviv over the way it treats the Palestinians. On top of that, last year the US House of Representatives passed a resolution repudiating the campaign.

 

Eager to bash BDS, the Israeli PM may not have been too careful about his choice of words. His comments raised eyebrows on social media and were quickly labelled as blatant meddling in US domestic affairs – something Washington usually does not tolerate when it comes from other nations.

 

Launched by Palestinian NGOs and activists in 2005, the BDS movement states its goal as using non-violent economic and political pressure to compel Israel into ending the “occupation and colonization” of Palestinian lands. The Archbishop of Canterbury has expressed his shame after admitting that the Church of England remains "deeply institutionally racist," insisting that they must change the "hostile environment" for black and ethnic minorities.

yes I am familiar with this. She has done that for yrs. Salesforce, Apple, Disney, Facebook etc. Bought options close to expiration, some cases the day of it, and ALWAYS profitted. I couldn't find one over the last few years where there was a loss. They tried to be stealthy about it and although it was not much in each transaction, to them, they always paid off.

It is an actual strategy to do this but normal people who do not know the direction would only put a small amount to this type of trading. You win some and lose some but she and her ilk always won.

if you have money the system will take it. Plenty of fools. A normal person would never do that because the expiration is so close and a small movement in the wrong direction will zero them out…when it's like that you know that they know the results. Also to be somewhat fair the direction has been pretty obvious in that one. You can buy virtually anything you want in the OPEX world at any of the offered prices. People do it all the time. The CBOT needs a gigantic flushing along with the SEC.
